Awesome, glad to have you back.

Don't be so quick to give up, any number of things could happen that would prevent him from posting. We all put a lot of tim and effort into this game I would hate to see it end before we start.

I'm not sure when the GM is planning on posting the gameplay thread but I won't be able to post from tomorrow morning until sunday afternoon.

@Jonny: Clearly you are (understandably) upset about not being selected for this game. That being said, it is always the GMs decision who gets in and who doesn't. If being high tech would have made him biased against you i'm sure he would have said something. From your post history it looks like you haven't been on the these boards long and I would like to make a plea that you be gracious about people's (especially GM's) decisions and opinions. I have been here for a little over two years and have come to respect the people here and the way we interact. That's all I have to say, thanks for reading.

Looking forward to playing with you all! And i'm sorry for those who weren't picked. If it was possible I would want to play with all of you, that was an amazing RP thread.

Is it just me, or is anyone else hard pressed to justify any stat above a 30?

I feel like I've gone exactly the opposite in terms of potential abilities.

This comes up in connection to this hypothesized "throwing people into the sun" nonsense. Garron, I know this wasn't your intention, and I respect what you are attempting with the character, but it got me more invested at looking the other characters here. I noticed, I am significantly underpowered for the abilities some of these characters are setting, and that's me being a character who I feel is on Par with high level legends.

Are people actually interested in the challenge of the game? I mean, I know we're in the level of demi-deific, but even the gods are hard pressed to break 40 on their stats. (Lending back to the days of epic level handbook)

I'm ok with it because he is supposed to be a giant. Have you seen their strength scores?

Garron, are you ok with having mountain impacting throws on a DBZ magnitude as opposed to actually Chucking someone into the sun? You still have Herculean strength, and I feel like the desired effect is there.

Also, as a note for any interested in physics and don't know this that wouldn't be a direct throw like you think it is either. First you've got to break orbit, than DECREASE orbit speed relative to the surface of the sun.

Absolutely, like I said I will except any adjustments/DM fiat that are decided.

Really, are we still on about the throwing thing?

There's really only 2 options.

A: As someone in the other thread said: Whatever is thrown reaches relativistic speed, impacting the target regardless of distance in a matter of seconds.

Result: The "boom" of breaking the relativistic barrier basically causes lethal damage to anything along the path, including a large area around the starting point. Damage type is DM-Fiat and can't be reduced in any way.

B: The object thrown does NOT break laws of physic when thrown.

Result: If the target it is thrown towards is reasonably too far away, said victim will take several to many rounds to arrive there.
In this case, said victim could react during the rounds before impact however it feels is approbiate. A flying creature could try to regain control, a spellcaster may cast, whatever it is the victim can do. Naturally some "victims" will helplessly reach space and float around there while holding their breath while suffocating and taking damage each round.
But many other victims will not fall prey to this kind of attack. Somthing may plane shift to a plane with subjective directional gravity and use it to brake, then come back. Or you opt to throw it against a mountain...my bad, it has regeneration, it takes a while to heal up then comes right back.

Really, this just calls for creative DM judgement in my eyes, I don't think it's overpowered by itself, but the rules don't cover all the applications.

I agree, I didn't mean for my character to cause such a commotion and in the end it doesn't really matter what any of us (myself included) think should happen. It's all up to the GM.

Although option A really embodies what I think mythic characters should be like.

I think the idea of throwing someone in to orbit is very much in the spirit of mythic heroes. And considering who you are supposed to figth it is far from a sure kill. Love the idea of the party teleporting to the Moon to recover the remains of one of there number and then find him just sligthly battered and in the process of "negotiating peace" with the locals.

I am the character currently under scrutiny due to this combo. This is kind of the spirit of my character. He was just a good wrestler essentially. When all his companions started getting strange magical abilities (mythic spells, wild shape, teleportation, etc.) he just got really strong, so strong in fact that he can hurl a half giant into the sun. That bein said its an incredibly cheesy combo. Should the gm ask it I can nerf or retrain.

Ultimate motivation for my last Mythic character. He killed his wife after going insane from Cthulhu's appearance, and her ghost haunted him (he was a Haunted Oracle).

Garron, I think you might find that being Colossal permanently will be more harm than help.

Though you'd only be Gargantuan. Titan's Rage doesn't stack with other size increasing abilities.

Oh, that's a pity. It's not like I need I just thought it could be fun. As for being permanently gargantuan I already have that problem with being huge, hence the alter self ability.

I might want to pick up permanent enlarge person at some point as well. With titan's rage that would put me at colossal.

As for the throwing people into orbit. I like the idea that he is (was) an entirely martial warrior. The Grand Stair unlocked the potential within him, but it also unlocked his ability to tap into the umbra and use it for his own gain. I don't know what other abilities being a master of the umbra will allow but limitless range and alter self are the main reason I thought it made sense. That being said I am more than willing to retrain if it will improve my chances of getting in.

If Zoruugasz is waiting for official word on if Body Bludgeon + Limitless Range works, we could be waiting years. D:

Like I said before if I get selected and then we find out about an errata I can always retrain.

As for progression, I know I want to take titan's rage at tier 3. You know... because i'm not big enough.

Garron slowly reaches out his hand and grabs the barrel, placing it back in from of him. He pours more of the powerful brew into his mug and takes a gulp.

On the note of the combo, I will still submit Garron if his combo is errata'd but I will have to switch a few things around.

"HA!"

Garron pats miniere on the back and looks at Aannra with mild annoyance.

how about just picking anything that fits the character?

I only picked traits and drawbacks based on Yins personality and history.

I didn't try searching for keywords. The main reason it was hard to find a good trait isn't because there aren't good ones its because I wanted one that fits his personality. I decided to go with grim optimism.

Regardless of power levels this wait is killing me.

Just as an example of character concepts that would be amazing to play alongside... but the crunch completely prevents them from coexisting, I'll go with Oneidros.

If we were to fight: If he fleet charges me, I have a 1/8000 shot of not being on the ground unconscious, and a 1/400 shot that he won't kill me while I'm on the ground. I have a 1/400 shot each time I attack him of hitting him, unless I spend a swift action to study. Then I bounce up to a 1/5 shot. If he uses none of his abilities. Meanwhile, on the spellcasting side: He has a 15% chance to fail a saving throw against me. Unless he pops one of his other abilities, in which case, I still do nothing, and he can just send it back at me. Luckily, I probably won't fail against his thiefed version, but I'll actually get hit by it. Then we move on and go to 'we're not fighting.' He does literally everything I do better than me, skillwise.

So, if we're in a group together... I'm my mastery. And a character. A very dead one, should we even attempt to challenge his. That's the -really- intimidating part of picking for this.

But... do you see his CMD?

"AH, many thanks merchant."

Garron fills the mug to the brim and immediately drains it.

"BELCH!"

Garron hands the merchant a few coins and breaks out into a huge smile.

"Now thats a drink!"

Hearing talk of the benefits/downsides of inebriation Garron walks over to Mineire.
"Speaking of, do ya have any stronger drinks in that cart o' yars. Haven't found a drink could get me drunk in a long time. Somethin' tells me ya have what i'm looking' for."

Garron lets forth a deep throaty laugh, wondering how in the world a Gossamer lord could be so cowardly.

Garron looks down at Aannra's hand, to her face, back to her hand, and then back to her face.

Well met lord dragon, we don't know exactly why we're here. Most likely the stair called us here due to some massive event that's gonna strike in the near future.

Hearty fella too, gave me a good lashin' the whole time."

Garron looks down at the newcomer.
"I don't understand ya little one. Do ya speak the common tongue?"

Hahah man that's great, all you need is a little house next to it, you have now welded that image into my brain, Ill never get that out.

I added a little house and some scenery.

Garron turns to Barrett who seems relatively uninvolved in the discussion at hand.

I'm no artist but I figured I would do an artistic rendition of said puppy eyed giant.

If it gets errata I would have to see exactly what gets changed. Would you allow me to keep it for now and replace it if there is and errata?

Garron — technically, you're not huge, just large with an at-will SLA, though that's probably wave-able away. Snatch is also reallllly good, but you could pull off the same thing as a focused master of many styles or tetori monk.

I actually am huge, large race + giant template. I have alter self at will so I don't have to walk around cities as a 28' giant. I did consider paying for a permanent mythic enlarge person spell to be colossal, but it seems a bit over board and there's always the risk of it being dispelled.

@GM - Would you allow me to use the Snatch feat with unarmed strikes. It seems to me the main reason it's limited to claw/bite is because it's a monster feat and under normal circumstances a pc wouldn't be able to take it.

We're actually in this place the bar and party are both outside. Doesn't really change anything just thought you should know.

Garron leaps to his feat as the door slams open, immediately ready for a fight. Upon seeing that it's just a wounded man he runs to give his assistance. He places one massive arm under the wounded man and assists him to a seat.

"We're all fellow lords here, ya'll be plenty safe. What happened to you?"
