Garam glances around, I can also use healing wands if you need. I have this one but it does make you feel slightly sick when you use it he says holding up a wand of infernal healing.

We should make haste though, if there was one patrol here there are likely others and they may have noticed our conflict.

Because most of your allies are up in the air, you actually could tilt a cone to hit only the troop. Don't forget that hitting any square that includes the troop means hitting the troop.

Garam scowls in annoyance, troops are irritating for a witch, none of his hexes work on them and the troop is mixed in with his allies, making his area effect magic ineffective. He floats in mid air, waiting for the group to dispatch the stupid thing.

I already make a knowledge check so I cannot delay, I simply hover in place invisibly and annoyed. One quick question, arent troop spaces normally gargantuan?

Garam glances over Tsvrk as he unleashes a cone of cold. Impressive, but I think I can do better.

With that he flies forward, making sure to stay well in the air. He quickly begins to incant, ice and snow gathering around him in a furious blizzard. With a complex gesture he sends the flurry rushing through the searing air into the two massive troops.

As the ice fades away he flicks his wrist, producing a slender wand of pale grey ash.

No, there were two saves, hence the two D20s. I only showed the roles, not the bonuses.

He slowly rises into the air, trails of ice and snow flowing around him, somehow persisting even in the searing temperatures of the plane and the fire vents. Ice Storm has no save. If they take any of the cold damage then they are entangled for 3 rounds. Sickening Spell will sicken them for 3 rounds but, as the spell doesn't have a normal save, they get a fortitude save to negate the condition. The DC is 29. The area also becomes difficult terrain for 14 rounds.

Conditions
Entangled: The character is ensnared. Being entangled impedes movement, but does not entirely prevent it unless the bonds are anchored to an immobile object or tethered by an opposing force. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. An entangled character who attempts to cast a spell must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

Sickened: The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Garam floats along above the party keeping his mouth shut. You never know what sort of monsters might be lurking about watching them and he doesnt want to give himself away.

Garam generally stays about 10' in the air. If we get into a fight then he will always try to identify any monsters as his first action so it may make sense for our GM to roll those to save time, if you are happy to do so. I am happy with you telling us useful things with a bit of a preference for elemental immunities, resistances and weaknesses. Current monster ID skills are: Arcana and Planes +33, Religion and Dungeoneering +30, Local +16, Nature +28. I will always use heightened awareness for the initiative boost so wont get the benefit on the ID check.

Mass Planar Adaptation doesnt split its duration between targets. It is just Caster Level targets for 1 hour per Caster Level.

He can cast it on you the day before, it will last well over a day at 2 hours per caster level. A page of spell knowledge is no use to me sadly.

Garam looks over at all the kit Gurkagh is carrying. If your stuff is slowing you down then maybe make use of an Ant Haul, its a simple enough little charm. I can provide it if you prefer not to. It seems like being able to travel quickly is fairly important so maybe a Longstrider as well. I think you can access both and they last a long time. If you just want to save on some weight then you can store any stuff you dont need immediate access to in my Handy Haversack if you want.

Garam slowly levitates from his seat before settling back down. I move pretty quickly and dont care about the terrain he says with a grin. I'm pretty nimble in the air too.

Garam has a 40' fly speed with Overland Flight and a +25 fly skill if it ever comes up. I have added my buffs to the google doc.

Garam will buy a level 6 scroll of mass planar adaptation. Its caster level 11 so can affect everyone and will last 11 hours so should be enough if we use it before teleporting hopefully. Its 1650gp which I can afford.

We should probably decide who is taking each of the artifacts. If Aquana takes the Breath I can take the Pearl unless someone else wants it. As Gurkagh arrives Garam nods in welcome, Good to meet you. It seems out little group has an awful lot of magical firepower. I dont suppose you could provide us with some mass planar adaptation could you?

Looks like it is on the Shaman list if you want to prepare it.

Given what we have been told I will make a few changes to the spells I will be bringing. I do tend to focus on cold magic for offence so hopefully lots of our enemies will be vulnerable to it.

I will update my spell list by the end of tomorrow.

Garam sorts through the three very interesting objects. Well, arent these some pretty little baubles. Aquana, you might be better with the pearl? It could give you a bit of extra magical oomph. The decanter is useful too, for the resistance. I dont really mind, I have plenty of magical options of my own at hand. Given the number of fire elementals then more fire resistance might be useful. I dont suppose anyone has one of those handy communal resists or maybe even a mass planar adaptation? I could prepare some planar infusions, would give some extra defence against fire effects.

As he examines the artefacts and considers what he know Garam mutters a simple charm to improve his thought process (Investigative Mind).

Garam is a winter witch with a focus on freezing his enemies solid. His profile needs a fair bit of updating. I have also played and run this before but it was years ago.

I am afraid I am going to have to drop. I am a bit overcommitted at the moment, especially with Outpost II starting soon. On the plus side this gives you a space for someone who can frontline.

A short, thin human with greying hair and pale skin slowly floats into the room. He observes the group then doubles over in a fit of coughing.

All this fresh air isn't good for me, give me the musty depths of the library of the Grand Lodge every day. He sighs, I knew it couldn't last, you try to retire but they just keep dragging you back just because there's some sort of desperate crisis that needs someone who knows what they are doing

He pauses and sizes up the people already here and gives out a short barking laugh, Ha, old Valsin has been throwing darts at the board again has he! Well, there's enough arcane firepower in this room to level a small city, I cant imagine whatever the trouble is would be much of an issue for you lot.

Those of you more perceptive hear somerthing whispering in his ear Master, you have not told them who you are, remember, you have been retired a long time, best to let them know. Wandering down in those catacombs all this time has left you forgetful. Also I dont like the dragon thing, can I dribble poison in its ears while it sleeps?

I am going to throw my hat in the ring as well with another arcane caster. We have two sorcerers and a wizard, time to add in a witch!

Garam is a damage dealer and control orintated witch with a fondness for disabling cold based magic. He has access to a wide array of spells and can manage a bit of healing if needed (he has a sigle heal, what could go wrong) and he has the various condition removal spells. He can act as an effective face (high bluff, diplomacy and sense motive) as well as decent stealth, perception and UMD.

In terms of the rolls above he is a mixture of skill monkey and damage dealer with a focus on area effect damage and disable effects with his memorised spells. Single target he tends to use his hexes. He also comes with a wand wileding, UMD using Imp familiar.

I should note that I have both run this several times (including hard mode) and played it so I would be burning GM stars to replay.

That sounds like a great plan Pip!

After they get out of the tunnels Garam will take shelter in the tent and open a small metal box studded with little holes. A tiny, bright green scorpion crawls out and sits on the back of his hand, tail quivering. The two of them sit in silent comtemplation, staring at each other, for a disconcertingly long time.

A restoration spell isn't very expensive if it is what we need. Only 380gp as a spell casting cost.

With that Garam will help to gather everything up for transportation out of the depths.

Garam has a level 5 spell slot open so can teleport some of us today if we want.

Casts Wandering Star Motes at him, DC23 will save or dazed, he gets a save on his turn. Garam continues to cackle to maintain AC and Saves penalty.

Garam continues to weave the strands of fate around the two of them, driving them into the blades of his allies. He keep's giggling, it is a little disconcerting in the circumstances.

Apply the evil eye hex to reduce AC to both of them, DC24 will save or it lasts 12 rounds, if they pass it lasts for one round. He then cackles to extend both the save and AC penalties.
