Crap, I'm sorry guys, I totally forgot to post something here. What I think we're going to do is this: The world will be reset, back to just after it was created. Each of can keep one concept we've created, regardless of level. Races, concepts, and other personal creations are gone, but everything else we've created still exists. So, planes, celestial objects, etc are still around. Also, since we only had a few, I think I'm also going to rule cosmic decrees stick around as well. Obviously, as races are gone, any boons or concepts created for them are gone too. All gods are back to being fledglings, but we'll start with 20 AP. I am still thinking about what will change as far ascending to another tier. I am also considering starting a new game play thread, but that might be too much of a hassle. Anyway, let me know your thoughts on all of this. Hopefully people are still interested. Again, sorry for spacing and not posting earlier.
If we reset, my plan is to keep the initial world, plus the island Lir made, the moon, and the sun. But, none of the races, societies, inventions, etc. Probably also keep the stars, and the concept of the afterlife. We would keep the same gods(unless somebody wanted to switch, obviously) but most of our AP actions would be erased. However, to offset this, we'll get 25AP to start. I'm also thinking that we need to set an amount of RL time to have passed before you can ascend to the next level.
I haven't commented in quite awhile for a number of reasons, including being sick, and having a very busy weekend. However, I have also been seriously considering nuking this game, and trying to start over fresh. Between loosing Arathoth, which really bothers me, the debacle that was that aborted scene with Tiss and Therien, and my strong dislike of how this current scene began, and how it's currently being handled, I'm thinking that perhaps starting over may not be a bad idea. The utter and blatant lack of communication is beyond frustrating and unacceptable. There's been rampant godmodding, short cut taking, hardly any cooperation and poor story telling. Why did Zakaz freak out when Shess turned two of his Cull, of which I imagine there's thousands if not millions, into stone? Did those two mean so much more than the rest? Zakaz doesn't seem like the kind of deity to have a personal connection to his creations, especially just two of them. Tiss, while I understand you were apparently not getting discussion notifications, why didn't you come over here and post yourself to talk things over with Therien?
Yea, Tis, that kinda flies directly in the face of everything we literally just talked about. And I am really sorry Arathoth is leaving, as I went out of my way to try and fix the issues he had, and now it seems like it didn't stick.(Not blaming him) What Tis did is exactly what he complained to me about: The older gods, picking on the younger ones, because they don't like what the new ones are doing. Was the scene with Theiren in character for Tis? Yes, absolutely, but once again, there was zero communication, especially with me. If you all want to talk things out in PM, that's awesome, but please, please, please, keep me informed, otherwise, this game is going to fail, and that will make me rather sad, as I was really enjoying this group of gods.
I've been talking to some people via PM, and they have brought a glaring weakness to my attention: New gods will forever be way far behind on AP. Now, while I get that part of that is the inherent nature of the game being based on real life time spent as a PC, it is also rather sucky, and super un-fun. Not only for them, but for us 'older' players as well. It will only get worse if/when other newer players join, especially if this game last a long enough time. Right now, I earn 6 AP a week, so about 24 a month. Let's say for whatever reason, I do not ascend to the next rank(thus earning even more AP), in 6 months time, I'll 144 AP, on top of what I earned as a fledgling+starting AP. That's a pretty massive gap to a new player/god who joins six months down the road, who only gets the starting AP. Thus, I am implementing, effective immediately, and fully retroactive, that all new gods(including our most recent additions) get *half* the AP you would earn in game, as a fledgling, without a pantheon. Ie, 4 AP per week. Assuming my math is correct(and it's often not, so somebody please double check it for me), that means Lort, Azrael, Arathoth, and Therien all get 24 AP.
I missed it too. Since all deities can be in more than one place, can we please post an OOC comment at the start of a post(akin to what Atheos is doing) that says where you are? Especially if interacting with, or going to interact with, other gods? Right now, I believe Atheos and Arathoth are actually in the Shallows, which is fine, because Azrael can be there, and at the hole. I think fledglings can be in two places at once.
A big concern I have is that Azrael didn't seem to actually spend time or effort(not AP necessarily) to find Zakaz/the hole. Heck, it doesn't even seem like he actually went to the Vault. He just sorta saw the hole, but didn't describe going there, or anything. It almost reads that he saw the hole from his realm, but contradicts that by saying he's examining it from above. I think if Azrael wrote up a more detailed post trying to locate Zak, and then the hole, and then dove down to possibly find Shess, that would be better.
OK, so caught up. Shess, I specifically asked you to talk this kinda thing through. Please do not keep stuff like this secret from me. I would really prefer no deicide, as that's sort of against the intent of the game. Relics do not overrule a decree. You would need to spend an addition 3AP on the item specifically to allow it duplicate a boon. I would say gods can get a vague sense of each other, as we have been playing it as we can just sorta pop in to any scene.
Azrael, Lord of The Shallows wrote: I actually go to college with him, and we're in the same major. Our workload has been increasing pretty heavily so neither of us has been posting in our games as much as we'd like to. I've more had my posting fall off a bit in all my games, whereas some of his have fallen to the wayside more than others. I know he's working on stuff for this, though Wednesdays are his worst days... It's cool Azrael. Unlike the standard LoC, I'm not going to penalize players if RL gets in the way. Just miss the Lord of Lions. Let him know he's good on taking some time away from game to deal with school work. We'll still be around when he's able to return.
Ok, so just to officially clear up any confusion, we do NOT have any fire gods. Tissari might have a thematic appearance and personality that could be described as fiery, but she is not a goddess of fire. Her domains are Creativity and Passion. Meanwhile, Therien is the god of the sun, and plasma, not fire. His domains are Blood and the Sun. So yes, Lortimas, you did creative something original. We lack an actual elemental fire deity.
Shess wrote: Can I spend the 1 AP to keep another diety's spending secret? I'm going to have to say no here. It's too easy to stockpile AP eventually, and just hide all sorts of expenditures. You would also have to get the god's express permission, and you would have to be straight up about your actions.
Howdy folks! and Happy Easter for those who celebrate! Tiss' decree: Mortals, of any race, can learn magic. We have a few specific schools that have been created, but they seem to mean to be almost innate abilities(Spell-likes, if you will). I'll create true magic shortly. Zakaz, that's going to get really silly after awhile. Even if you don't spend the points themselves(which, my rule would be anything like your suggestions would be reduced appropriately by Herald of Life), do you really wanna spend time(both in game, and in real life) listing out things like hibernation, pack tactics, molting, etc? If you've created normal real world animals, they auto act/behave/posses anything they do in real life. It's when you want to change or alter such things that you need to worry about AP. For example, if you wanted to give wolves a poison bite, or create flying scorpions, then you could spend AP, and even then, such would be reduced accordingly.
My suggestion is Weave Plane, perhaps combined with Nuclear Fusion, if Therien was serious about that. And yes, I agree Cosmic Decrees, and other actions shouldn't apply to multiple domains, unless they are somehow very closely related. Actually, I'm not even sure any Cosmic Decree should apply to domains.
No cost, but there is supposed to be a real life period of time you're to have been active for. Which I think is silly. So what we'll do instead is this: You'll need to acquire the requisite domains(4 to become lesser, 6 to go to intermediate, etc), And you'll need to spend AP as well. As they're a mechanical representation of enacting your divine will, it shows that the deity is both active in game(which kinda replaces the IRL time requirement) but also shows the god cares enough about the universe to become more powerful. So, we'll make it simple: Spent 20 AP for Lesser, 40 for intermediate, 60 for greater and 80 for elder. This is total AP expenditure by the way, not 20, then another 40, etc. How does this sound? Willing to adjust/alter/scrap this, depending on player response.
