So, I'm very sorry to do this, but I have a baby tha will not leave my lap under any circumstances. I'm posting this from my iPhone and can't really do anything substantial. So DM ,Feel free to either skip me altogether or post for me to move the init forward. She's been screaming uncontrollably and since this is my niece and I don't actually have children my ability to multitask in this way is nil. A link to my character sheet it posted in my alias. At this point Astor would be reckless and stupid. Just please don't kill him yet ;)

Hey Jerrid, just posted and realized I made a few assumptions about our coming to the party without running it by you. Sorry about that! Check my gameplay post and let me know what you think, we can run with that or just make it into something else. It wasn't very much, but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Well, railroady is fine by me in the beginning. I don't mind following the leader. I've got a few errands to run but I'll try to get something thrown together for this afternoon. I'm feeling a basic human fighter. It's something that's easy to write a back story for and the crunch is pretty simple. How much back-story do you need/want? I'm not sure about the story you're sending us into, any intro or teasers you can post/have us look up?

So, it's been a while! I'm so very sorry for abandoning you all in the fashion in which I did. Things got a little out of control on my end as far as my schedule and some rl stuff. To be honest I am a little ashamed as well. I was too embarrassed to publicly throw in the towel and say I couldn't keep up and the longer I let it go the more shame I felt. I let the game get the best of me and then it was no longer fun. So I wanted to at least tell you all that.

I don't know that to could come back and DM full time, or at least I couldn't commit to daily posting if I was honest with myself. This is the first time I've logged on in a very long time. But I think I'd like to get back into some gaming again. I never got together with a local group that I was hoping to and I honestly miss this. It's a new year and becoming more consistent and disciplined is sort of a resolution off mine, so if you guys would like to maybe give this another shot then I'm game. We could figure out the what/when/where/how on the way. Just drop in and let me know what's going on or even if you're interested. And thanks for playing what you did, it was fun while it lasted!

I'm sorry Baris, I was really just waiting for some other PC's to jump in and do something. And I know Radim is more hanging back since that is his PC's style so I'm not expecting anything from him. I could just keep responding to your actions but if no one else is coming in to join then maybe we need to figure something else out. If it's just you, Radim and Janasen then we can figure it out from there, I just wanted to be 100% positive that this is it before I made my next move. Sorry for the delay in that. I'll give it the rest of the weekend for anyone else to respond with their in/out/or silent declaration, and then I will move the game forward we'll figure it out as we go along. I'm determined to move forward, even if we have to recruit one or two new PC's on the way.

So I've been watching this regularly to see if anyone but Baris and now Radim was still going to post. Just let me know one way or another if you are still in. I am and am willing to continue the campaign as long as at least four of you are. We can adjust the AP to fit whatever you come up against and try to recruit more later. No worries if you can't continue, no judgement on my part! I just want to know.

Baris:
No one... or thing notices you on your way to the house. When you peer into the house you see a rundown building with most of the items and furniture that would normally be in a house ransacked. The roof looks as if it could fall in at any second.

As the fear begins to subside, your party gathers itself and moves to the first building you can see. It appears to be a dilapidated home, worn with age. This small brick manor is overgrown with thick sheets of gray-green ivy. The roof sags ominously, and the front door hangs askew.

Hope you all had a good holiday! Married my mom off so it was a bit crazy for me. Anyhow, back to the grind. I'm getting you all moved on to the next spot.

Still here!

So, where are we moving to?

Well, I guess it's been long enough.

Tuoni and Radim:
Just as suddenly as the feelings of terror and fire came upon you, the sensations vanish. You feel completely back to your normal self.

Back from vacation, sorry I didn't get in there before hand. I'll actually be out for this weekend too, Labor Day and all that jazz. Then a long haul and no weekends away for a while :( At least none that come to mind.

Janasen:
You do not detect any magical auras on the door. You can sense some enchantment auras just inside they gate but they are fading fast.

Alyssa and Tev make is up and over the fence with ease. Radim continues to freak out, batting at anything that he may think is bothering him, and Tuoni, though he's holding it together, is still noticeably shaken.

FYI, I moved the map for the outer area into the top where Current Research was. The current research got bumped down to the Campaign Info. Any smaller maps will be put into the posts.

Baris feels no different in spite of his two friends reactions.

Just let me know based on the map what area you're going to.

No apologies necessary. I've probably held this one up this most. I was just wanting to make sure that you all know that I'm present, even if there's nothing for me to post at the moment. No worries on the moving thing. I hate moving. Hate it. It's nice to get a new place, but I haaaaaaate the process.

Did I mention I hate moving?

Hey all, just so you know I'm still here. I know that the rate of posting is probably staying slow because of my lack of consistent posting over the last couple of months. I've got nothing to post in the gameplay at this very moment, just waiting for a couple of people to react. But I wanted to make sure you guys were aware that I'm checking in. As a sign of good faith I'll post a little something in the discussion when I check in, whether or not I'm actually planning on posting in the gameplay. This way you know I'm still around.

And just so you're aware, I will be out of town Saturday and Sunday. I might be able to get something in Saturday morning and Sunday night, but definitely nothing in-between. So until then, happy posting!

Radim:
Ah, sorry I missed that. Alas, you still did not reach the DC. Please freak out appropriately :)

And just as Baris scaled the front side, he with equal grace and even a bit more flare descended the back side.

Part of the reason that I have made the aura thing so confusing is because of the speed at which we were moving through the AP at the time. Plus with my lack of knowledge with magical stuff and how this particular AP is just chock full of magical auras I had to keep something in the dark. So in order to keep you all from marching right into Harrowstone on game day two I had to make this part very confusing. There were things you were getting to in the first game week that should have taken weeks in game to cover, at least when I was able to post more. Anyhow, I'll do my best to rectify the way the auras are being played out in game. Besides, this is the part that you would actually be able to sense them in the strongest way anyways. And besides, it's not the gate that's causing the fear (spoiler alert!).

And once again, thanks for sticking around!

Sorry Baris, missed your question. I don't believe there are gargoyles on the top.

GM Stuff:

Radim Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4

Radim:
As you walk through the gates you are struck with an immediate sense of fear and claustrophobia. You have the sensation that your skin is on fire! You are shaken for the next 4 minutes.

Baris makes it to the top of the fence with no problems.

Baris:
Though you may be expecting it, nothing bothers you once on top or inside the gates.

Congrats on the place! Yeah, slow patch, but working through it.

Baris - Not sure what you're talking about with the auras. I also don't know what Ravenloft is. However, you know my achilles heel is magic rules, so I might be playing this a little wrong. But I promise it will work out in the end. If there is anything I'm missing on it please let me know!

GM Stuff:

Tuoni Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

2d4 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Tuoni:

As you walk through the gates you are struck with an immediate sense of fear and claustrophobia. You have the sensation that your skin is on fire! You are shaken for the next 7 minutes.

Who's next through the gates?

Tev:
You get nothing from the gates aside from the same confusing auras. You are pretty confident that there is no magical trap on the gates.

Baris:
As far as you can tell, no one can see you coming. Upon closer inspection you see the beginnings of the grounds through the creaking doors. Ahead you see a small courtyard, but in order to see more you have to go through the gates.

As you begin to inspect around the perimeter you see thick ivy running up and down the slightly ruined walls of the compound. There appears to be no other way in besides the doors, though the vines do look very sturdy and thick.

So, who's going in?

I'm getting tired of saying this, but I'm so very sorry. I was in a wedding and had guests staying at my house all week, though I still planned on getting on. I tried several times and the website was not responding, mid-afternoon was the only time I was available. So the wedding is over and the guests just left so I had a moment to get on here. We're cleaning up after all that so I don't have to time to post the next part. I will post that up Monday morning. I just wanted to let you all know what happened. Again, I'm very sorry for the way all this has gone for the last couple months since my work has picked up. Thank you all for sticking around. Don't give up on me!

Kendra gets up and begins to prepare breakfast, and as the recent tradition has become Baris helps to prepare everything. She's extra quiet this morning, forcing a smile when needs be to hide the fear she's feeling deep down.

She forces a laugh when Baris asks about breakfast and nearly trips when he rushes the coffee out to Tev. But she doesn't seem to mind. "It's going to be hard when everyone leaves. I've gotten used to having a full house." And with that she washes up a bit, readies herself, and walks towards the door. "I'm off to run some errands, it'll be to hard..." she catches herself, looks quickly at Janasen, and before anyone else can speak, she walks out the door.

And unless anyone else has unfinished business...

Harrowstone Grounds

Once the party readies themselves, they head south of the town to the barren hill that contains the remains of Harrowstone grounds.

As they head up the hill towards the grounds the party feels an eerie sense of stillness surrounding them. Everyone has the sense they are being watched. If anyone were to try and detect evil or magical auras it would be like putting a compass in between two magnets, your readings would be all over the place.

As you crest the hill you see in the distance a stark sagging roof in a main structure which is visible through a large gap in the surrounding wall. Walking up to the grounds you see a sagging wood an metal gate set between a pair of stone guard towers that once barred entrance into Harrowstone. The gates now hang negligently open, creaking softly in what wind touches the ruined bars.

This map is not interactive, just tell me which areas you decide to go to/inspect and I will have a smaller map ready depending on the situation. You are currently in position R1. Who goes in first?

Radim, as you can tell I'm with you. Every time I try to get ahead I find myself falling further behind. I'll have a post up tonight introducing the next part of the AP.

As the crowd stands outside, watching their town hall burn not knowing what to do, they hear the voice of Tuoni calling them to action. They quickly fall into line, creating a water bucket brigade to help those inside still battling the flames. The council and other civil servants still inside begin to gain ground, beating the flames back down. As the last of the flames finally goes out, Kendra begins to regain consciousness. Benjan and one of the other townspeople help her outside of the partially burnt building. Though char marks cover parts of the interior of the town hall, the building still stands. The townsfolk all begin to gather around the group, cheering you all on and honestly cheering themselves on for taking part in the saving of the town hall. In the moment they almost forgot about all that had happened, all that has led up to this moment.

In the midst of the celebration Councilman Vashian approaches the group. "Well, it appears that once again you have proven that we have chosen the right people for the job. Whatever evil that awaits you out at Harrowstone must be aware that you are coming, so I ask you to take extreme caution in your approach. But at the same I ask you to not delay any longer than you have to. We are extremely lucky that all made it out alive and well and that we did not lose our town hall and all it's history. I do fear that we cannot handle another attack. Please go at first light."

At that moment some in the crowd announce they are buying a round at The Laughing Dragon. They ask for your party to attend if you so desire. Whatever the case may be, if you choose to party or go back to the house, in the morning you leave for Harrowstone...

Alright, sorry about dragging this out. I am going to resolve this, but I just haven't picked the exact way yet. I've been working late and have to be to work early tomorrow, so I won't get to it tonight. Tomorrow evening I will post the resolve of the town hall situation. I'm going to take into account all the most recent posts and what you all wanted to do. This way we can move on to the next part of the AP, hopefully spring some life back into the game. I hope everyone is still in. Thanks for sticking around you guys, I think we'll pull this off yet!

I know you'll all miss this but I hope you have fun! I'll be working on a few things for work this week so I'll be ready to get going once everyone is back in action. Plus I only have one other campaign to work with as of this week, so I've got plenty of time to dedicate to this!

Alrighty! Well congratulations again on the wedding stuff and I hope your honeymoon is awesome. I think we can finish this town hall event in the next day or two at the pace we are going, and then we can break for that week so you do not have to think about coming back on here (you're on your honeymoon, enjoy it!), and we'll head on to the next half of the adventure when you return.

Sorry that this last bit has dragged on the way it has, but I'm really ready to move on, the whole next part will hopefully kick start the game because now we're doing what RPG does best, dungeon crawl!

Like I said in Gameplay, I just need to know what you guys want to do. So far I have two firefighters and Radim is sitting out. That leaves Janasen, Alyssa, and Tuoni... who I think might be AWOL again. So just let me know!

MAP

Tev - the size of the flames are deceiving and only take up one square, so I'm going to make it to where you put out the flame at the end of the aisle, not the one that appears to be next to you, allowing the girl to finally escape.

Tev bravely pulls the final girl across the aisle and puts out the flame barring her escape. Now just your party, the council, the Sheriff and an unconscious, but safe for now, Kendra. They are waiting for your party to tell them what to do next.

So I hope we haven't lost anyone due to my long absences. If you haven't noticed I have posted for the next round. Please just check in and let me know whether or not you're planning to continue on with the group!

GM Stuff:

Benjan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Vashian: 1d20 ⇒ 12

The last bit of the crowd manages to escape the flames, all except for the last girl stuck in between the fires.

With Kendra free from the fire Vashian has a chance to extinguish the last flame of that area. Benjan manages to put out a fire in front of him in a desperate attempt to reach the last girl and gets the flame down, but before he can run in there is bursts back to life again. The girl in there holds her hand out to Tev desperately waiting to be rescued.

Ok, now what do you do? After saving the last girl, do you continue to fight the fire or do you leave the town hall to burn?

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you a heads up on my last vacation of the summer. I'll be out of town from Friday through Tuesday. I'll be in the states, though, so at the very least I'll be able to make a quick check and probably even a post or two. Just thought you should know!

Alrighty, just looking for Radim and Janasen and then I'll move it forward!

With that natural 20 I'll give you the extra girl in the fire as well. Technically you haven't moved yet, so there's also that.

And with that Kama slash the final skull fell into pieces, neutralizing the threat of attack. Meanwhile the remaining fires continued to rage.

And not that it necessarily matters now, but that Kendra CMB that I have listed up there is technically for Alyssa. I just noticed my mistake.

GM Stuff:

Benjan: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Councilman: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Councilwoman: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Vashian: 1d20 ⇒ 18

MAP

The chakram whizzes by Alyssas head, nearly taking off a lock of her hair, and buries itself in the skull, shattering it to pieces.

Alyssa, that technically nulls your action, so if you’d like to retcon and make a different move feel free to post it. Also, the woman is not Kendra, sorry I didn’t label them. I will post a CMB attack on the fire for you and if that’s not what you wanted to do just let me know.

Kendra CMB: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Baris’s sling connects with the other skull, taking a chunk out of the bone in the eye socket.

Tev manages to pull the first girl to safety, allowing her to flee the building. Her friend sees Tev offering help and runs up to the space she was standing in.

Neither Radim nor Janasen can figure out exactly what these things are, the only sense they get is that whatever is out at Harrowstone does not want them to complete their task.

As the flames spread two more people fall unconscious, a townswoman and Kendra Lorimor herself!

The two councilmen and the other councilwoman manage to beat down some more of the flames and with the help of Alyssa they extinguish the rest of the flames on the right side of the room. Benjan beats down another flame in the front hoping to get to the girl that has fallen.

"NO! Not Kendra! Please, someone help to pull her out!" Councilman Vashian cries as he beats down the flames near her.
Even though she isn't technically in a flame, because she went down in a space and is still adjacent to a flame she needs to be pulled away.

PC's are back up! I shouldn't have said the thing about the skulls having used their turn this round... they may not even get a chance to hit you!!

Sorry I haven't resolved anything yet, I just wanted to let everyone see that I'm back. We're missing Janasen and Radim, and I might get a chance during my lunch break to resolve some of the actions, my copy of the AP is at home. I'm pretty sure that at least one skull is dead, but I can't confirm that. Either way, just waiting on the other two to move forward the initiative.

Sorry if i didn't make that clear! I've discovered I like going in cells better, so the pc's, you guys, are now up. As long as everyone goes then I'll respond/post the next cells movements. The only thing that will be different this round is that the skulls have already moved by coming in, so they won't move again until the end of the next round. Glad to be back!

GM Stuff:

Benjan: 1d20 ⇒ 3

Kendra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Councilwoman: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Vashian: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Alright, hopefully all of this makes sense with what has occurred thus far. If there are any questions just post them and act according to your best idea of what’s going on. I’ll adjust as needs be!

The crowd continues to file out of the town hall, still feeling inspired by Janasen’s very diplomatic call to order. Well over half of them have escaped the blazing inferno. Tev manages to leap over the bench, just not very gracefully.

FYI - I agree with the fumble thing, it shouldn’t take that much to make it over. I’m not one to give out critical fumbles, but you are acting under duress. So do continue to roll any checks such as acrobatics as you deem necessary and I’ll follow up. And Tev I already pulled your girl out and deleted her, so your turn was completed.

In spite of the council and Kendra joining in on the firefighting only Vashian manages to put out any of the flames. And as if that’s not quite enough to deal with, you hear a crash through the windows in the front of the room. The two flaming skulls that were hovering outside make their appearance, hovering and spitting flames from all openings.

The two women trapped by the flames are continuing to be closed in on and are beginning to panic. They aren’t listening to any reason.

So, like I’ve done before, this will all be in cells. The order will be as follows:
Fire
NPC’s
PC’s
Flaming Skulls

Also, a note on pulling out victims. Once they’re pulled they’re considered safe by the AP. So you don’t have to worry about a full extraction. That’s a lot to deal with as is, so just note that if/when you pull someone out, there is no check required and then you can delete their token. Getting to them is already fun enough ;) Also, anyone that was missed in the last round, sorry, but I figured after being gone for over a week the best way to move forward was to do just that! Let me know if you need anything.

Hey all! Sorry or the wait. Once we got back we had a lot of things that required our attention, and that was around my work schedule. I may not post something until a little later because I've been out of sorts and need to read back through and see where I'm at. That being said, I am back and ready for action! Thank you all for being patient and look for my post in a bit!

Hey all, I'm sorry for saying sorry so often. It seems like excuse after excuse, but this last two weeks have been a bit overwhelming. Not only have I been gearing up for this trip with my church next week to the Dominican, my wife's and my dog has been dealing with stuff. Long story short a terribly eventful trip to the groomer last week ended in part of his tail being amputated today after several trips to the vet, including stitches, a lot of blood, the cone of shame, and of course leading to the very cute white tip of his tail being taken off today. It's been extremely emotional and draining, especially since we are both leaving him for a week tomorrow with a variety of friends and family as sitters. I know I've had to say it many times recently, but I'm sorry that rl has been a b%%+*.

Once this trip is over a lot will settle down for me, and minus a much shorter trip for our 1 year anniversary (woohoo), I'm not planning on being anywhere but home. Doing things I enjoy, such as this game. So, I'm sorry that we haven't gotten a lot accomplished in the last week, but this will be my last post before leaving, most likely until Monday 6/24. So, take a breather, catch up on your other pbp's, and I'll be rip roaring ready when I return.

Also, I'm very sorry Tuoni for your loss, and I can completely join in with the sentiment and say 'Hear, hear!' to 97 years! What an incredible life that must have been!

So, until I return, live long and prosper!

As you can all imagine I had some rl stuff that changed at my job, so no posting 3 times a day etc. I really would have loved to be a part of this, but thanks anyways! I'll have to save F5174 for another day.

Hey all, I just want to elaborate on my current flightiness and reassure you of a couple of things.

So my job situation changed as I said, but I'll be more specific. I have been working in the pawn/gold buying area for a few years now, mostly to put myself through college (do NOT imagine me as one of those sleezy pawn people, I'm actually quite nice and a bit sensitive to boot), but for a while I was at one of those We Buy Gold places and it was DEAD. That allowed me to get more involved with pbp and sometimes be able to post all day long. This made it to where I didn't think about posting during the evening/morning times and generally worked out. Well, since that place made no money we shut it down and I had to go back to the pawn shop, which as you can imagine is a regular business where I can't play games all day. So that's why I have been adjusting. I know that I didn't necessarily have to tell you all that but I figure it's only fair. I'm not good at transition with my time schedule, so everything has been topsy-turvy for me and I've had to settle into it. Thanks for hanging in there so far.

That leads me to the reassurances. This group is my most important group. I did get myself involved in a lot of other pbp's because I had the time, but this one has always been my commitment. Even is there are short time lapses, I will always make sure that this is my first priority. We've adventured together, even quarreled a bit, and still we venture forth! I'm sorry for some of these short term glitches that I've had, but I appreciate your endurance and your help to learn more about Pathfinder. It means a lot! Let's keep moving forward!

Also, just a reminder, I'll be gone all next week so don't think I've abandoned you!!

...That is all.

GM Stuff:

Kendra: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

No check needed to drag someone away. As least not in my opinion. I don't have my material nearby but I believe the AP says the same thing. I'm also not going by the official paizo fire burning down a building rules, just the abbreviated ones the AP gives.

Tev manages to pull one person out of the flames, stabilizing them in the process.

Baris, despite his disappointment in the flames spreading, manages to put out another part of the fire.

Tuoni calls out to the women running back and forth, but they can't seem to figure out what to do, looking around in a frenzy. He does manage to put another part of the flames out.

The council and Kendra seem to wake out of this two round daze that has plagued them since the DM kind of forgot about them and started rushing around towards their respective things that the AP says they should be doing.

Kendra swats at the flames nearest her but doesn't manage to put them all the way out. The other people from the council get closer to the flames, hoping to help put them out and keep the town hall from burning down completely.

I guess we're going in rounds, which works better than precise initiative on pbp anyways as I am learning. Still waiting to hear from Janasen, Radim, and Alyssa. Also, I sincerely apologize for jumping the gun on Radim's turn/check question. Bad DM. Getting through this scheduling slump! Thank you all for understanding.

GM Stuff:

Benjan: 1d20 ⇒ 14

You can do a knowledge check as free action.

As Tuoni continues to beat on the fire, the one in front of him goes out, but then it continues to spread in the opposite direction.

Baris swings at the flames, but cannot seem to put them out.

Tev manages to swing himself over the benches and keep his balance.

The two townspeople continue to remain unconscious under the flames. More townspeople manage to escape with Janasens encouragement spurring them on.

Sheriff Benjan manages to get through the crowd and put out one of the flames. Two of the townspeople find themselves trapped between two of the fires.

The flaming skulls continue to float outside, their empty sockets staring in through the windows.

Sorry, that was a copy paste screw up that I lost in all the typing. It's everything up to the links for the spirit planchette and haunt siphons. After that is the repeats. And just so you all know, Janasens diplomacy is so freaking high that he didn't even have to roll to get the crowds attention. He merely needed to exist.

GM Stuff:

Tev: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Alyssa: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Radim: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Tuoni: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Baris: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Janasen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
FS1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
FS2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

As Janasen steps up and speaks the crowd seems to listen. They begin to move in a more orderly fashion, allowing them to move faster. Towns people can now move 6 spaces a turn when not impeded. They cannot occupy the same square as another town person.

Tuoni vs Fire: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Tuoni manages to put out the flames near him, smothering it with his cloak. For future reference, to put out a fire it's a DC 12 Combat Maneuver check. Sorry for not mentioning that!

As you being to detect magic, Tev and Alyssa feel the mix of the auras that they have felt this entire time, but the strongest they've ever felt. There is no particular area that this is coming from, it's as if whatever you felt before is getting stronger... and angrier.

Baris:
You make a quick look out the windows to your left and right, noticing two floating skulls covered in flames, hovering outside the windows on either side.

As the crowd continues to move, the flames begin to spread. Some of the townsfolk come in contact with the flames, cough due to the smoke and pass out from the heat, becoming unconscious.
Any townsfolk adjacent to the flames will automatically become unconscious. The flame growth is 1 random square per round. Any person pulled from the flame is considered stable and that person is considered safe. Thick purple square means unconscious, easier to see.
