Shades of Ice GM Evil's Signup Sheet

To speed things along, I'm not going to try and paraphrase anything, and I'll just give all the answers to the questions and any others you may have here.

Who is the thief?
We first met Jamila as a silk merchant from Qadira. She was a companion of the late Venture-Captain Targos Min-Katheer, and she helped lay him to rest. We considered her to be an ally of the Society. Now we have to wonder whether her aid was just part of a larger ruse.

What does she look like?
Jamila has pale skin, long red hair, gold-colored eyes, and angular brown tattoos. She typically travels with a bird with green and orange feathers whose talons crackle with electricity.

How did she manage to rob the Sandswept Hall?
We’re still trying to piece together the details. She struck our vault on the second floor. She was able to retrieve items without fighting any of the guards, which means she knew where to go and how to bypass our defenses.

What items did she take?
We’ve identified two missing relics. The Sandstorm Codex is an ancient tome written in Osiriani, Aquan, Auran, Ignan, and Terran. It’s an elaborate text, and we haven’t yet fully deciphered it. The other is an abacus that supposedly belonged to the Pharaoh of Numbers.

Where did she go?
As far as we can tell according to what little we’ve managed to gather, she made her way into the Underdunes. We can guess at her likely direction, but the task of tracking her down falls to you. We know that she used to work as a desert merchant, and the local merchants create trails through the desert that connect water sources and remote outposts and thread their way between the most dangerous threats. Her appearance and that of her pet bird are quite distinctive, so you might try taking the most prominent of these paths and asking anyone you meet along the way.

How should we prepare?
Prepare yourselves for sandslides, scorching heat, and other dangerous terrain. Bear in mind that several elemental tribes call the Underdunes home, and none of them have a fondness for humanoids. Bring rope and survival gear, but also an eye for history. Rumor has it that the binding rituals of Ancient Osirion caused the elemental planes to bleed over into the desert at spots. If you can find proof of that theory, or learn something new about the elemental tribes, that discovery would give this proverbial cloud its silver lining.

He also hands you a map of the paths that desert merchants travel most frequently. The most prominent path into the Underdunes ends at the coastal city of El-Shelad. About 10 miles outside of Sothis, the single path begins branching into several options, which arc out into the desert before periodically rejoining into a single route.

He sighs as his gaze turns toward the bustling city.
As for her skills and abilities, we have no idea. As far as I knew, she was simple merchant. This theft... Perhaps she is more. Be prepared for anything. I would counsel finding a merchant in Sothis who is preparing to travel toward the underdunes, and leave with them. There is saftey in numbers, out there.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I took my girlfriend to Disney for her birthday and proposed during the firework show, and now she's my fiance! Well, lets get this show on the road, shall we?

From the outside, it appears that the house was burned down at least a week ago, if not longer, judging by the snow cover on the charred beams of the place. Tracks leave the house in almost every direction, as from what you can see without going inside, the place has been looted, and anything of value likely carried off. You also realize the letters on the outside of the building are written in blood.

Carini:
You notice a group of people in the woods about 50 feet north of the burned down house. They're watching you intently, but no one is making a move, though a couple of them keep looking at one of their number, as if they're waiting for them to give an order.

Darven:
The letters on the wall are written in blood

The burned out house is devoid of anything of value, and tracks lead out of the ruins in almost every direction. It doesn't take long to surmise that whoever did this, and looters, made of with anything of value. From the outside, and from the cover of snow on the charred wooden beams, it appears that the house was burned down at least a week ago, likely longer.

Ok guys, sorry for the huge delays. First, me and the kids got some kind of summer cold, and then as soon as I'm ready to get these games started, my wifi gets borked due to my provider changing ownership. I hope everyone is still good to go!

You've been summoned to the Sandswept Hall of Sothis, at the behest of Venture Captain Norden Balentiir. The journey was easy enough, and you were informed of the desert conditions by your charter, giving you all ample time to make your purchases and prepare. Upon arrival, several well-armed guards patrol the perimeter of the Sandswept Hall of Sothis, watching passerby with suspicion. As they scan the crowd, the lodge’s front gates swing open, and Venture Captain Norden Balentiir steps out into the street, waving calmly to the guards. It’s all right. They are Pathfinders. Balentiir steps back inside the gates. Please, follow me. We have much to discuss. Instead of leading the way into the lodge itself, he walks around the back of the building to a lush garden. Sycamore, tamarisk, and fig trees provide shade to cushioned benches, and trellises covered in grapes and flowering plants provide privacy. Last night, a thief broke into our vault and fled with a pair of valuable items. While we were unable to stop her from escaping, a guard caught a glimpse of her as she fled. Our thief is a janni named Jamila al-Shafah. She has served as an ally to the Society in the past, but now we have to assume she might have been planning this theft for some time. She’s made her way southeast toward the Underdunes. We’re still figuring out if she had help, but in the meantime, I need you to find where she escaped to. Norden pauses and glances toward the sky before continuing. In a way, this could be a blessing in disguise. The Underdunes have many hidden bits of lore. If you find something interesting along the way, be sure to take note of it for later. But don’t tarry too long—Jamila already has a lead of almost half a day. He looks at you expectantly, and nods toward the city. Before you depart, I assume you have questions?[/b]

Ok guys, sorry for such a delay.First, me and kids all get sick with some kind of summer cold, and then when I'm ready to get started, I start having wifi issues due to my provider changing ownership. Ugh. Anyway, here we go!

The meeting in Absalom with Drandle Dreng nearly a month ago was brief, as always. I have a routine mission for you, though a dangerous routine mission, the old man whispered in the great hall in the Grand Lodge. Suffering from a cold and weak from lack of food and rest, the old venture-captain looked quite possibly the worst you’d ever seen him. Through wracking coughs he explained, An ally of ours in the Land of the Linnorm Kings—Rognvald Skagni—is writing a lengthy report on the state of government in the northern countries of Avistan. I received a letter from him just yesterday requesting several key documents from the vaults here to help him finish the report. Venture-Captain Dreng patted a large, heavy-looking chest next to him. These are the documents, and I need you to board a ship north to deliver them to Skagni. Dreng tried to stand at that point, but a fit of coughing sent him back into his seat. He gestured for a well-dressed, impeccably kept man standing in the shadows of the room to approach and whispered raspy orders to him. The man picked up a small pouch and a large key and handed them both to the party. Venture-Captain Dreng is unwell, as you can see. He wished me to give you this key and this pouch of gold. The key opens the chest, and the gold will buy you passage and get you from the Linnorm coast to Trollheim, where Skagni resides. Whatever you do, do not let the chest out of your sight and do not, under any circumstances, allow it to be searched. These documents are for Mr. Skagni’s eyes only. Are we understood? Dreng’s nameless servant waited for a reply and then smiled. Good. Now run along; Venture-Captain Dreng needs his rest.

The average daytime temperature in Trollheim during this adventure is just above freezing, and the average nighttime temperature hovers around –5° Fahrenheit.

The directions to Skagni’s home provided by VentureCaptain Dreng’s assistant are unclear, but after a few wrong turns due to poor handwriting, you finally locate your destination. But there’s a problem: it’s been burned to the ground. All that remains are the stone ruins of the small home’s walls and a few scattered piles of rubble!

Where the directions indicate Skagni’s house should be stands only the charred husk of a burnt-out building. Bits of burnt timber and ruined furniture lie scattered about, but if anything remained after the fire, it seems to have been picked over and looted. Though most of the walls are blackened with soot, a patch along the former front of the residence still shows relatively clean, white walls. Smeared across those white walls, written in reddish-brown letters four feet tall, are the words, Pathfinders go home.

The chest is going to be a concern for you. The chest is 2 feet wide, 4 feet long, and 3 feet deep. It’s made of heavy oak bound with iron, and locked with an enormous, finely crafted steel lock. The chest weighs 100 pounds, and it’s imperative that you keep it safe—failing to do so means a loss of respect within the Society. Take some time to decide how to handle the chest, and any last travel arrangements or purchases before you begin dealing with the house. I hate flashback intros.

If any gm’s need someone to watch their games due to the hurricane, I’m available. I have access to every scenario up to the newest season, and can buy any of those needed. Just send me a PM with a link to the thread and I’ll make sure things go smoothly until you’re ready to pick it back up. With such a hefty threat looming, the less small things you have to worry about, the better.

Gameplay start in a few hours. This os one of those that starts out with a flashback to your briefing while youre in the mission, so make any last introductions and purchases now. Before the flashback ends, you're told that you're mission is in the cold northern regions, so prepare accordingly. Cold weather outfits, endure elements, and the like will be your best friend.

I'll run a table of Tyranny of Winds. Sign-up link HERE.

Bristor and Sedoriku, I've slotted you in to the first two slots.

Enchanter Tim, I've put you on the waiting list and we'll get you in there if there's room in Parts 2 & 3.

We'll start as soon as the table fills.

Thanks! Love when we all come together to make things happen.

I'm strongly considering a core shades of ice. If I can get a couple more players to show some interest I'll make it happen.

Dark Archive

Bristor, I run my games on a first come, first serve basis. I usually start the game after the table fills and use the wait list to fill seats from people who don't show or have to drop out early. I do have a pretty full wait-list for tyranny of the winds...

Usually in this case, if it were a sincle scenario I would just run a second table as soon as the first one concludes, but this is an actual trilogy. Hmmmmm... I wonder if there are any GM's on here who would like to take the overflow and run a table?

Everyone else, To Judge a Soul has one more seat open. I would like to start it by Wednesday. If someone doesn't seat by then then I guess we'll run with five people.

Tyranny of the Winds is full, we'll start that on Wednesday as well. Stay tuned for a link to the gameplay threads for those two games.

Dark Archive

I can run a core table of something alongside one of the standard games I have lined up. Any preference on which? I have a pretty wide bandwith here for a couple of months.

Dark Archive

That's two showing interest in Forged in Flame, so I added it to my sign up sheet. Once they fill up we'll get started. Sign up sheet is HERE

Dark Archive

I'm considering running the Tyranny of Winds Series. If I get enough interest on my sign up sheet for it I'll prep it. It'll be all three parts. I'm also thinking about doing the Forged in Fire Series as well. Any interest there?

What? 9-22 - Grotto of the Deluged God (subtier 1-2)
When? Should begin circa October 6th as part of Gameday VII Part 2
Who? Players are already recruited... and you as the GM!

Who would like to give this game a friendly GM home?

Send me a copy of the PDF and I'll run it. Sounds like fun and I have the bandwith to pick up another game.
