M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The elf helps. Now that I'm back from camping.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Last week was a shooting sports event for the local BSA council.
This week is a district camp-o-ree and I'm off to camp with the troop. See everybody on Sunday!
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Well, I can use healing wands. Who has them?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Anybody still have some healing? That was my last."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Stepping up over his fallen comrade, the young elf tries to tag the creature again.
Touch Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 14 That looks better!
CLW vs Undead thingie?: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Touch Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 9
The elven archaeologist waves his hand about as though he has some intent, some idea of what he should be doing, but he just can't seem to connect . . ..
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Headed to a Boy Scout Shooting Sports campout to run the archery range. In the Hill Country and a valley, so there is no cell service after I get there.
Will be back Sunday night.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The bookworm steps forward and tries to touch the creature, releasing the positive energy into it . . ..
Touch Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 7
And I won't bother rolling the CLW as the charge is still on his hand.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Oh, this is such a bad idea. Oh, this is so stupid. Don't do it. Don't. Just say no. Arguing against himself even as he acts, Flaern casts a spell, charging it on his hand, but staying put and holding the charge, for now . . ..
Casts CLW (standard) but can't deliver it this round, so he has no reason to put himself next to the enemy's sword, yet.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Uncertain of what to do, but knowing that he would have little chance to contribute with his bow in this confined space, the young elf pulls his whip and steps up before attempting to trip the creature with it . . ..
Trip CMB from 10': 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Sigh. Still better than he would have done with a -8 to his bow use - no Precise Shot and a PC providing cover . . ..
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Don't feel like I've been much help, either. While you were up, there was never a doubt about your contributions. I didn't realize how combat incapable this character was . . ..
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Flaern drags the unconscious ally out of the combat, Simply withdrawing from combat before releasing the small form.
One move action
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The big one that struck Fundir down, of course.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Bardic Knwoledge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
So, 5' in; either a 5' step (which prevents another move action) or a "full" move action; with a move action to grab the limp form, and no way to move back out this turn? Yeah, time to cast the CLW and move him next round.
Flaern moves up into the empty space, casts Cure Light Wounds on Fundir, and then reaches down and grabs Fundir's form, preparing to move him further back out of the fight.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Is it sad that I'm glad he didn't heal enough to draw another attack?
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
I also see that Fen's got Stabilize, so, my CLW might not be the best immediate answer. Not that Flaern knows this . . .. Oh, and Fen is adjacent to the guy that just cut you down.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Flaern's got CLW. Unlikely to stand you back up with one casting (probably a good thing right now, actually), but it WILL stabilize you!
Wait. Fundir doesn't roll stabilize and lose the HP until the next round, right? On his turn?
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Clear me a space, I'll have to touch him."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"If we are careful with the timing, we should be able to trigger the trap and once they go past the opening, here, we rush through to the other side, and out to either side so we aren't in the way as they return. Just a thought."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"I think the point it that we move through while they are resetting."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Mean to? It seems to do the job pretty well."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"I don't think he got close enough to look, actually. Care to check?" The grin is obvious in his voice, even if you aren't looking at his face.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
He moves back into the room, looking to get a shot across the top of the sarcophogai, into combat, with a friendly in the direct path. At least arrows are cheap.
Bow-Melee-Cover: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 4 - 4 = 4
Damage, as if: 1d8 ⇒ 4
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Fighting retreat? Okay, I guess . . .."
Flearn lets an arrow fly at the thing in front of him before following Ecthelien.
Bow Shot @ Purple w/ Archaeologist's Luck: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
So of COURSE I roll minimum damage.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Please hit. Please hit. Please hit. The elf nocks and draws, loosing a shaft at the least engaged of the creatures.
Bow attack w/o Precise Shot @ purple: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 4 = 8
pointless damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"They carry a nasty disease! Don't be next to one when we drop it, because it will pop and infect you!"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
GM Sapphire Fox wrote: Flaern since untrained caps at 10, you know really only that they are Plague Zombies Bardic Knowledge trumps untrained.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Knowledge (Untrained): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
The archaeologist moves into the open space, pulling his bow as he goes. Calling out anything useful he remembers about these creatures.
Special defenses, special attacks, weakensses, . . ..
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"You know, the lot of you are just one ray of sunshine after another, aren't you?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Doesn't matter much to me, but I was taught that left is always right, if you will."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"This place is overtrapped, really. Are we clear to move forward?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The elf sighs. "The whole point is to be able to do this safely. Shuttle the protection back and forth and stay in cover!"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"After taking a close evaluation of the pillar, I most strongly recommend using the shield as cover and working on the door lock."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Well as we each took 12 non-lethal, and you healed each of us for at least 12, I think you're done.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Flaern is wishing nothing as he lies on the ground at the base of the pillar.
-4 HP
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The archaeologist moves up to the base of the apparent trap device, and begins examining it, looking for some indication of how to deactivate it, or at least not activate it.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"A rather obvious trap, but one I don't see a simple way past. I don't know if it will be better to clump up or spread out, honestly. Probably clumping up, since the room seems designed to spread us out." With that, he tries to stay close to Fundir as they move through the new space.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 Looking for anything to indicate some control over the expected trap.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Intelligence: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Something heavy enough that we could lodge against the door frame should work fine. Good thought!"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"I'm not carrying a mallet or hammer, either. Maybe someone has something like a hand axe?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Only if we spike the door open. Having it close behind us would not be acceptable."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"That IS interesting. Historically, the sort of fight depicted here could be a religious war, over different interpretations of doctrine, maybe? Could be a clue about how to see other things in the room."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
My 4th weekend of BSA camping starts tomorrow night. This time my wife is going, and she asked me to post my reminder messages tonight so she can push me out the door that much faster if I get out of work late.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"So, he got the right key?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"It could be that simple, but not that. I don't want to interfere with your efforts, but, what if I cast, say, Light, into the pool and we see what happens?"
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"Very nice work, Arol."
The intent of the below is to see if Flaern saw the trap, too.
Note that Flaern does NTO have Trapfinding.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
On my way out the door for the 3rd Scouting weekend in a row, as previously advertised. I'll be back on Sunday.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"I heard that you should beware strangers bearing gifts. An empty room seems far more ominous." That said, he still picks up his two items.
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
The elf slaps himself lightly in the face. "Introductions. My apologies, I am Flaern Daeltis, an archaeologist by trade."
M Elf Bard (Archeologist) 2
"We were told you might be in trouble, but nobody seemed to know for sure. I guess we can chalk this up as a successful rescue mission."
