The second grippli's eyes go pale and distant for a moment before flashing back into their usual beady blue. Enrique looks around, licking his lips in thought as he takes in his surroundings.

"Awfully sorry, my friends", he says in a deep voice. "It seems I was under increased influence of Sir Enrique for an extended amount of time, and my memory of the events that have transpired until now is a bit foggy."

Enrique places his webbed hands on his waist and nods at Iovarl and Grubglub. "These two here-- Iovarl Volarin and Grubglub, if I recall correctly-- have already journeyed with me once, and might remember my condition; but for the rest of you, I shall summarize it and say I involuntarily host within my body the spirit of a malicious conqueror named Sir Enrique. His spirit grants me enhanced abilities, but sometimes his influence can be meddlesome."

"With this introduction out of the way," he croaks, "I agree with my fellow grippli's suggestion. Also, I think animals should be easier to deal with than clockwork machinery."

The grippli hops forwards, stopping next to his kin and preparing to slash at any ectoplasmic anomaly that comes near them.

"Good job, grippli!" Enrique puts his left hand on Makon's belly - the highest place he can reach - and mumbles some divine incantation. [b]"Now you smash them too, half-orc, so I don't have to dirty my hands any more.

Yes, I'll stay with Champion. It is my default spirit, and Dwarven Maulaxe is my default choice of weapon proficiency from its power.

"Undead... too many times have I nearly died in the hands of the non-living... but not today!"

As he runs forward, Enrique sheathes his rapier and draws a large weapon, its one end clearly intended for slashing and the other looking like it can be used as a blunt instrument.

"Come at me!"

After First Battle

Enrique nods solemnly in agreement with Atronia. He sighs as he wipes some viscera off his rapier.

"You are correct; my apologies. I should have explained my condition earlier. I do not know what words may have exited my mouth during this skirmish, but whatever they are, I am sorry. You see, the Enrique that fights alongside you is not, in fact, me. It is the spirit of Sir Enrique the Conqueror, a powerful Taldan noble who, many years ago, took over my tribe in the jungles of the Mwnagi. Even when a rebellion successfully overthrew him, his spirit inhabited the body of our leader, Rikki, whose name the Conqueror Taldanized into Enrique. I, as the sixth Enrique, carry this spirit within me too, harnessing its power while trying to cleanse it of its malevolence. As part of this... "deal"... you must deal with an old cynic conqueror on the field of battle, rather than a friendly young frog." Enrique looks up at the skald with a sorry smile. "Understood?"

"Right, let's get this show going!"

Enrique runs towards the orcs, vaulting over the collapsed pillar and leaning against it as he mutters an incantation to improve the aim on his next attack.

Hearing Makon's furious cry, Enrique turns to look at the bloodrager with an expression of disapproval. He maneuvers around Grubglub and sinks his rapier deep into the enemy orc.

"I tend to a filthy dog for a moment and you get yourself killed? Sigh... Sir Enrique to the rescue!"

Before he sets off to earn his reputation with any tribe leader, Enrique retreats to his quiet room in the Grand Lodge where he sits calmly for one hour, conversing with the malevolent spirit of Sir Enrique in his mind and allowing any party members to join in his seance. In the end, he manages to shift the conqueror's spirit's focus from battle to a mindset he thinks would help in Leader Benta's task - tending to animals.

Holding a seance for the Trickster spirit, taking Ride and Handle Animal (at an additional +1) as class skills at full ranks for +7 and +8, respectively.

Enrique is startled by the crashing chandelier, and as he takes the situation in his expression twists into an unnatural, condescending frown.

"Come to crash our party, have you, abomination? Understandable. Time for you to die!"

Stabbing at this thing with my rapier probably won't do too well... taking off large chunks, or crushing it, must be the way to win this. Or fire, if the tall one knows what he's saying.

As he advances, Enrique draws a large stone-and-metal weapon, its head similar to an axe but with a flat back also fitting for use to bludgeon. He swings the weapon at the golem, hoping to remove vital chunks of wax.

Been entirely forgetting about my Spirit bonuses... Enrique should be slightly more combat-viable from now on. If the dice will it, that is.

Enrique proceeds into the square room, once again hunkering down and casting Guidance upon himself.

"Hey, bookworms, try to see if this person is possessed or anything."

Enrique dashes around the dog, malice in his eyes, and plants his rapier deep in the animal's flesh. The weapon pierces straight through the frightened dog, causing it to whimper in pain as it drops dead (I assume). At that very moment, a loud crashing sound disturbs the grippli's battle rage.

"You fools! The dogs were just a distraction!"

When the banner moves to attack, Enrique freezes for a moment, slowly shaking his head. Moments later, he leaps rapier-first at the enemy, his movement noticeably more fluid and dance-like.

"Now, big brute, don't listen to that scholarly wimp! Help me stop this thing before you regret it!"

"Indeed, Janira, it is great to see you again, and in less life-threatening circumstances. I must thank you for that filking class, it's sure to free me from many hours of boredom."

A grippli clad in dignified garments steps into the lodge, taking a moment to take in his surroundings before making himself too comfortable. A grin stretches wide on his froggy face when he spots a fellow grippli.

"Greetings and salutations to you, dearest Pathfinders. I am Enrique Karpadi, and I will try to help you solve this Blakros mystery and survive doing so."

With the formal introduction out of the way, Enrique turns to speak to Grubglub in their native tongue.

Grippli:
"Hello, brother! I'm Rikki the Sixth, chieftain-and-fiend-keeper-in-exile of the Karpadi tribe. I whose honourable presence am I today?"

Enrique is a Fiend Keeper medium, meaning he can't have Protection from Evil cast on him. Also, if there are no time constraints, he will occasionally hold seances to channel various spirits. If there are, he will probably hold seance for the Champion spirit in the beginning and stick with it.

Seeing his friends leap into action, Enrique gracefully jumps over the creek and charges at the minotaur.

As Enrique steps out of the cave and Janira's situation is revealed, an inner conflict ensues.

I must protect her! She is a fellow Pathfinder, a friend!

Stupid frog, you will get yourself killed. My spirit will survive, but your body will perish.

I care not of what you think. My party and you will help me slay this demon, save Janira and become a true Pathfinder!

His consciousness triumphant over Sir Enrique, the grippli charges forwards.

Enrique smiles at Shalagor, shaking his hand warmly.

"Enough good deeds will eventually eradicate Sir Enrique's malevolent nature. It is my duty."

The grippli then starts following Azora, cleaning bits of ooze off his blade.

As soon as the final ooze dissolves, Sir Enrique loosens his control over the grippli's body, letting the free spirit inside react to his surroundings. With a quick glance at Shalagor, Enrique's face grows stern and he looks around at his allies.

"Do we have any magical healing left? This should prove more effective than our untrained attempts to stop Krstani and Shalagor's bleeding."

About Fayn

Background:

Fayn never had an easy life; as her entire family and ancestors, the kagonesti's life has been one of toils, constantly being hunted. Born and raised in the island of Southern Ergoth, she had to be constantly on the move within the scarce forests bordering the Forghaven Vale, infested with ogres and thanoi - and fighting them became her second nature.

Living such life required an unprecedent level of discipline for a race dedicated to nature, love and freedom, and the surviving kagonesti were only able to accomplish it by focusing on a sort of monastic path. Blessed by the voice and powers of Chislev, Mother of Nature and animals, Fayn became an accomplished hunter and a person truly dedicated to the good of Krynn. Her eyes became used to the night journeys, her arms became used to the tension of the bow cords, her heart became used to pain.

While young, being the single female sibling she'd be kept behind on the low canopy trees around the cave entrances; not only this would prove strategic for scouting and defense, but also a nice spot to shoot with the elven longbows. This also meant that she was not as exposed to combat as her brothers - forced to hunt for food, and she used a good chunk of her time to produce high quality arrows and improve the cording of the bows.

Even if she was born after the cataclysmic events that tore Ergoth in two, she'd still live heavily influenced by such consequences, and for decades the travels of the Saruu family across the island meant mourning the ones that fell through the years, saving the few they'd manage to cross, and the insane - somewhat nonsensical - moments in which they'd find time to celebrate life in their own happy little festivals.

Such moments still resonate on her; the fact her entire existence had been one of constant moving, being hunted and losing people, basically meant she doesn't even realize that a life of peace is possible. If it somewhat hardened her heart, it also made her appreciate the small moments and the nights under clear skies. In their culture, such lives were treated as a fading lute song; one which the chorus were those moments when another loss happened. By the time she hit adulthood, before her first century, she was already alone in the world, having lost contact with the few of her siblings which still breathed.

She eventually traveled outside the island, navigating east towards Ansalon, and became an adventurer. If the coins were already of help, in truth she enjoyed being useful as a tracker and guide through forests - plus, it also gave her the opportunity of pinning some ogres with her arrows. If nowadays she still lives one day at a time, in her core she grew to hope that her destiny could somehow be related to something greater, and that someday the few living kagonesti could find peace.

Appearance and Behavior:

Fayn is a somewhat attractive elf with long ears and a silver white hair - likely inherited from her Qualinesti or Silvanesti ancestors - which she keeps medium sized or short. Hey eyes are dark green, and her skin almost pale - from a life used to navigate and hunt in the nights more than under the bright sun.

Good hearted, shy and reserved, Fayn is monastic and contemplative. She constantly prays for Chislev and meditates over her life and the small successes she accomplishes. She's loyal, but lived long enough to become somewhat rugged and paranoid. Yes, she's a survivor, but when she trusts someone - she might become almost childish naive.
