![]() Rift peers through the hole to the other side. "Are you OK in there? Don't worry, I'll have you out in a moment. If you could just stand away from the door?.. Thanks." Checking again to see that the space is clear, she opens a portal into the room. "Just step this way" she says to the figures on the far side, "be quick though, I have to go help my friends!" ![]()

![]() If Hijack doesn't sense anyone in the room: "Should be OK" Rift replies. "Hijack, Do you think you could influence the camera to not film this? It'll be pretty obvious." Once given the go-ahead, Rift peers through the hole and then gestures, opening a portal into the building. She waits for everyone else to move through before following and letting the portal close behind her.

![]() Good idea.... I like that use of combining powers. I don't want to be able to do the same thing via video surveillance though - I like to limit myself a bit.. I see it her power operating in a sort of: must know where the destination is relative to herself with high precision. Sensory link would provide that. ![]()

![]() "Of course we can help" Rift answers, shooting a glance over at Tesla. After Reece speaks she considers. "I can get us in if I can see where I'm going. If we can find a building nearby that overlooks the one they're in I could probably open a portal straight in there. I might be able to get the hostages out too if we can get to them without drawing too much attention, or if you can keep the bad guys occupied for a bit." ![]()

![]() Rift leans back in her chair, her legs propped up on the table. Wearing her new costume which, whilst having much in common with what she wore during the ant-fight, now consists of a tight-fitting mesh-weave suit, complete with a face mask and large, tinted goggles. As the video springs to life, she pulls her feet down and leans forward, concentrating on the images flashing across the screen. "Those poor people," she says, after the video stops. "We have to help them! Does anyone recognise where they were or who those thugs are? We've only got a couple of hours to do something!" ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E Happy to let others take centre stage or move on to the next 'issue' Emily joins the rest of the band on stage and, after a setting up and a bit of last minute fine-tuning, they begin to play. Emily plays her violin in many of the songs and joins in backup singing for all them, glancing over at Tee every now and then to see whether he's enjoying it, and sending him a quick wink as Justin makes great use of the theremin, sending a shout out to Tee for his help which gets a round of applause from the crowd. After the show, still a bit sweaty but riding a high from the performance, she seeks out Tee. "Thanks," she says with a smile in reply to his praise, "It felt really good! I think we rocked it! I stuffed up a bit in Hollowmen but otherwise it was great. Sorry. I'm always a bit pumped after a gig." When he pulls out his phone, she smiles. "Yeah, sure. Thanks for tonight. I had fun." ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E As she finishes up with her makeup Emily smiles over at Theodore, moving over and taking her violin out of its case and carefully tuning it as he works, her eyes closed in concentration as she adjusts its pegs until she is finally happy with its sound. Placing it carefully in its cradle she turns to watch the progress on the theremin, clapping as Tee demonstrates that he has it working right. "Wow! That's great! Come over and check this out Justin. Tee's gotten it working - what'd'ya recon we add Plan 9 to the set for tonight?" The others each thank Tee for his great work and Justin has a quick go at his newly -fixed instrument, again thanking Tee as the weirdly etherial notes spring forward. Soon it is time for the band to begin and the others walk out through the door to set up their instruments. Emily hangs back for a moment with Tee. "Seriously," she says, before heading out to join the others on stage. "Thanks heaps for that. Plan 9's one of our best songs, and we haven't been able to play it for ages." ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E Emily grins at Theodore's comment and leads him through into the cramped backstage area. There, she introduces him to the other four members of the band - three guys and one other girl. "Hi guys. This is Tee, he's a friend of mine who's come to see the gig." She turns to Tee. "Make yourself at home. I've gotta go get changed, but i'll be back in just a minute." With that she grabs her shopping bags and heads through into a smaller room - really just a broom closet. The other band members each wave hello, and one of them - who Emily introduced as Justin, a skinny dark-haired guy, a bit older than the others (mid 20s) offers Theo a beer. A little while later, Emily emerges wearing the same battered converse she was wearing earlier, but having changed her jeans, shirt and hoodie for tights and a 50s style summer dress decorated with cherries. She accepts a beer from Justin and grabs a seat next to the other girl (Bell), where she begins quickly applying a little make-up. "Hey Justin," she says as she works, Tee's into physics and stuff. Maybe he could see what's wrong with your Theremin?" she turns briefly to Tee. "He's been wanting to use it for this one song, 'Plan 9', for ages - he got it a while ago but Adam spilt beer on it and it hasn't really worked right ever since." ![]()

![]() Sublplot: T&E I forgot about US drinking laws.... apologies if any of this makes no sense (given Emily and Theodore's age - What happens in the US when band members are too young to get into the venue?) "I thnk that's probably a good idea Betty." Emily says, backing up Theodore. "You can come get your car tomorrow." After dropping Betty off they continue into Soulard, the taxi pulling up outside the venue with a good hour to go before the gig's scheduled start. Emily walks to the doors and greets the bouncer as if they know each other, and motioning for Theodore to follow her into the dim interior. "Don't worry about the cover charge or ID or anything, we've played here a few times before and its usually fine." Says Emily as the weave through the crowd towards a door marked 'Employees Only'. "The band room is just through here, you can come and meet the guys if you want?" ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E Emily blushes when Theodore comments on her voice. "Maybe you can come see us play? We do get a few gigs. We've got one tonight actually, in about three hours. I need to get changed first, but I've got everything out in the car, so I can do it there. That's why I was at the mall, I needed some new clothes. I was going to meet the others at the bar. What d'ya think? Wanna come?" ![]()
HP: 13/30
![]() Subplot: T&E Emily orders sushi, using the chopsticks easily as they talk. "Play something? Well, I don't have my violin with me at the moment, but i'd be happy to sometime. I sing backup in our band too, and I'm kind of trying out some other instruments too - mostly those cool 80's ones. I got a secondhand keytar on ebay last week, although I haven't had much of chance to play with it yet." ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E "Your masters? You don't seem old enough to have done that." Emily continues as they move off towards Betty's beaten-up old car. "I kind've liked science at school but, you know, music's really my thing. You like watches? So you're into what, physics? chemistry? biology? What do your parents do?" ![]()

![]() Subplot: T&E Emily grimaces. "Sorry, I hate to be a stereotypical artsy person, but I'm actually vegetarian. Oh, no, don't worry, I don't mind anyone else eating meat, I just don't do it myself. Well, apart from fish anyway. Do they have seafood there too? or could we find someplace a little less,... meaty? Sorry. I hate to be a pain." ![]()

![]() Subplot: Theodore and Emily I know! Who'd have thought it, I mean, they could be anyone! So, um, thanks for coming to get me, both of you, now that you're here do want to, I don't know, do something? I mean I've done my shopping but I could hang out here for a bit. Do either of you need anything whilst you're here? Feel free to have Betty jump in. ![]()

![]() Subplot: Theodore and Emily Wow, if he saw the ants' guns, he probably saw me fighting them! I wonder what he thought of the 'heroes' Emily smiles, even though it'd been a while since her adventure she hadn't really had a chance to talk to anyone about what happened. - Not even without mentioning her own involvement. "I saw a bit, yeah. I was running late and it all kind of happened really fast. But I did manage to get a bit of a look at them - The police were keeping most people quite some distance away. It was pretty wild. Who'd have thought there was an ant civilisation underground all this time? What about those people who fought them? They've been all over the news. Did you actually get to see them?" ![]()
HP: 13/30
![]() Subplot: Theodore and Emily Emily made her way to the food court, grabbing a cup of coffee from one of the stores and settling in to wait for Betty, apprehensive that her friend had decided that now was a good time to meet her missed date. She'd tried to protest that she wasn't dressed to make a good impression, just jeans and a t-shirt over her ratty old hoodie with sneakers, but Betty wasn't having anything of it, and had just finished the call with an evil laugh. I wonder what he's like? She said he wasn't bad looking, but you can never trust Betty with something like that. It'd be just like her to set me up with some gap-toothed weirdo. She'd think it was funny.... She did promise though. Hearing her name shouted over the noise of the crowd. (Trust Betty!) she looks up and finds her friend waving her hands in the air. Emily finishes the last of her drink then picks up her bags, and moves through the crowd towards her friend and her companion, surreptitiously trying to see whether he's as bad as she feared. As she draws closer its clear that he's.... Oh god. He's gorgeous - not even too tall! Why'd she have to introduce us whilst i'm wearing this?? Finally she's standing in front of them. "Hi, nice to meet you at last." she says with a somewhat awkward laugh, her words tumbling out in a nervous torrent. "Sorry about the other day,... Not many dates get interrupted by big ants! I'm Emily, Em if you like? And you're Theodore? Theo? Betty hasn't said what you prefer. Did you see the news? Apparently there might be more of them underground somewhere." Oh god. Shut up! You're making an idiot of yourself. His eye's aren't that cute. Have we met somewhere before? No. I think I'd remember that. She shoots Betty a look, seeing her friend standing behind Theodore with a big grin on her face, obviously more than a little pleased with herself. notice: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Well you did choose attractive as an advantage, so.... ![]()

![]() Subplot: Theodore Lucas Emily sauntered through the shopping mall, unable to repress a grin. I can't believe I fought those things! That was just too cool! I think I can make the costume better though. If I'm going to be all over the internet like that I need to look good! The goggles were pretty cool, and the mask, and the colour was great, but the skirt did kind've get in the way. Maybe there is actually a reason so many heroes wear such tight clothes? she slows down to look in the window of a sports ware shop, looking at the mannequins dressed in their expensive workout gear. I could pull something like that off maybe? No one'd realise it was me, that's for sure. I never wear stuff like that,.. but maybe it'd be fun? And I could probably hide it better under my normal clothes, at least jeans or whatever. She spent a couple of hours waling around, picking up a few new clothes here and there, before making her way towards the bus stop, and letting out a sigh as the one she was hoping to catch pulled away. I really need to get a car. I guess I could just teleport back to school, but its a long way, it'll take ages. Maybe Betty'd give me a lift. I still need to catch up with her and see what happened to my date. Theodore: Just so I know how Emily will react when they meet, What does Theodore wear when he's Stopwatch - does he have a mask to hide his identity, or would she recognise him? Any chance of a general description, in costume and 'normal'? ![]()

![]() Rift nods "OK. You'll keep a look out whilst i'm gone? I'd hate to come back to find you all taken as slaves. It'd be a real pain to have to rescue you all by myself!" With that she turns back into the tunnel and heads back to the plaza, waiting till she's out of sight of the ants before using portals to speed her way. From the bottom of the hole she opens a portal to the rim and approaches a policeman nervously. "There's a lot more of the ant-thingies down there. It might be a good idea to get some soldiers or something here, just in case we can't deal with them. Anyway, can't hang around too long. The others'll be missing me!" She turns and jumps from the rim of the crater, opening a portal just below herself and landing lightly at the bottom. She returns to join the others as quickly as possible.
