Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Who's turn is it?

I'll be retreating for all my actions.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Welp...
Opposed Grapple: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

I'd liketo make that full withdraw action.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin will book it, hoping to dodge whatever attack the zom dishes out. He will use next round to also distance himself.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin takes another swing at the sicko.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Breakage: 1d100 ⇒ 37

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Breakage: 1d100 ⇒ 22

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

AoO with oar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Not sure if that hits, and not sure what to roll for opposed grapple.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin follows.

No idea if I'm still nauseated...

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Still here, though like yourself had some RL stuff to deal with. Posting regularlity will resume in a few days.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin, still getting his bearings, nods in quick agreement. Some carbonation helped the old stomach whenever he was having a shaky morning.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin keeps trying to move out of the way until he's recovered, beating his chest silently and trying to recall the scent of his wife's peach cobbler. Might ruin the memory actually.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin just concentrates on getting better, if he spots the sickoes, he'll try to move farther away.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 welp
Nausea: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2) = 9

The normally hardy Edwin, pauses for a moment and crouches as he tries to steady himself.

Breathe....just breathe....It's a tier more disgusting than gristle.....just get used to it....breathe.....

"I need a minute..."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

I'm sorry we had to kill you so we could escape the sicko hordes. You will be missed.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin helps pack up and get the canoes ready. He washes whatever residue the impacts had on the paddle in the river.

"Ready." he says simply. "We could probably find more food at the resort, though running into more of these things is as good as guaranteed if there this tough. And we all have stuff we'd like to get to back at our vehicles."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Please don't break you stupid paddle: 1d200 ⇒ 86

Edwin takes another swing with his paddle trying to put the sicko down.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Please, I'm begging you. Edwin is old and needs every advantage he can naturally get: 1d100 ⇒ 61

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

"G+!%~&mit! I'm old and I need my sleep!"

Edwin takes the oar he keeps nearby and maneuvers between Yael and Richard so he can get a clear shot of swinging the oar at the sicko's head.

Attack with oar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

I think I can get where I placed myself with some maneuvering.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Init: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin slumps against something to lean against, a bit tired from the days events.

"I think Richard is just showing concern over your attitude. I don't think anyone here would doubt you for saying you're well prepared, but that doesn't mean we should be shouting death threats. Your primary reactions to stress have included stealing, threatening to shoot, and threatening to kill. To be honest Marcus, I doubt there's a single person here that is entirely comfortable with your matter-a-factly in the right attitude, and honestly I'm just waiting for the minute you decide it makes more sense to shoot one of us in the leg so it saves on supplies since its 'the logical thing to do'."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Marcus, just to check, you're acting antagonizing on purpose right?

And i see the test post yael.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin rubs his shoulder from the sudden surge of paddling he had to do before the drifting canoes were too far gone.

"They didn't grab any of our stuff, so no real harm done. Only reason I'd try to stop them is if taking the vehicle is a priority, but honestly I'd rather let them take it than try and stop them. Too many unknowns to be rushing at each other's throats this early."

Would the two fleeing have firearms?

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Still cursing, Edwin hops into a canoe and begins to paddle out to retrieve the others. They hadn't taken anything, and if they wanted to risk it on their own then that was there decision. He even thought about thanking them for not taking supplies with them.

But there was something in him, a nasty sort of betrayal that he felt. Why send the other canoes down the river if not to severely encumber them to leave? Could they even get half their equipment off the island with no boat to assist? What did that say about the couple's true intentions...

Yep, the link at the top is editable.

Edwin works hard and soon falls silent as he helps bring the other canoes back to shore.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

"S$+!." Edwin mumbles as he hurries to his feet, and grabs the oar he's taken as a makeshift weapon. Then, with a voice honed over three decades off yelling at lazy bums who aren't working the factory floor, he bellows...

"Arlo and Piper are running! Check your gear!"

He then runs off to the area where the canoes are stationed.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Can't grab token

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Ediwn keeps one of the paddles nearby as a makeshift weapon, and waits for his watch.

1d20 ⇒ 19

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin squints at the setting sun. They were running out of daylight when they first arrived, and if there were more of these 'sickoes,' it'd be a bad idea to be blind-fighting in the chill of the night.

"A drive by would give us some info to mull over, but if anything happens it could be bad..."

Edwin spits on the ground. It was remarkably similar to his factory work. Whatever it took to minimize labor and save time. Potential problems could arise from the smallest of issues. Still, he was feeling a bit ashamed at taking the whole emergency situation too lightly, and it showed on his crusty face and the way he scratched the back of his neck, a nervous tick since way back.

"If we got enough daylight, should be fine. But I probably won't be much help... I can get camp set up at the small island while you all do recon. Make myself useful somehow Get some coffee going. Should be alright with a canoe nearby and a lonely island."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin seems convinced that the emergency has gone past the s&*~ meter.

"Think we can all fit in with our stuff?." Edwin asks, deciding Marcus may not be all paranoia. Still, that didn't stop that smart-ass smile of his from pissing him off.

"And you suggesting I sit pretty while one of them, what you'd call them, sickoes? was mauling Yael? I ain't gonna cower behind a gun just because I don't wanna get hurt."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

All dead? I think two are still up, at least according to the map.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Was really confused since I saw my flashlight description used for Richard's flashlight apparently? No idea what happened there...Thought I had been botted for a second...

Edwin uses his duffel as a sort of cushion and attempts to ram into Yael's attacker, throwing it on the ground if possible, or at least pushing it away.

Bull Rush?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Well I'll be....

Maybe its just Marcus keeping him on edge, but Edwin is already primed for action, his old muscles pull. Unfortunately, he doesn't have an oar with him. Instead, he spends his action looking around for another makeshift weapon and, if finding none, pulls out the industrial flashlight from his duffel (the one almost as long as a forearm and could probably crack a skull or two).

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

While Edwin was a curmudgeon, he was no fool. As the unknown stumbles towards them, Edwin cautiously readies his duffel in one hand. It wouldn't do much damage if any, but a good enough swing would knock most on their ass.

"Keep your distance." he warns to the unknown.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

That is correct. I'm trying to straddle the line of curmudgeon that dies in the first ten minutes of the movie, to curmudgeon with a deep backstory and eventually becomes a pillar of the team.

"Not normal for a resort to be this quiet, right?" Edwin observes.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Sorry Marcus. Just tryi to play to character. Everyone makes fun of the crazy guy until the apoc hits

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

"If it makes Itchy Finger happy." Edwin clearly tilts his head to Marcus, "I'll lead the way down the dark path he's so jumpy about. Just make sure you put the damn safety on so you don't go shooting me in the back.."

I'm fine with Edwin leading the way to the resort.

He hadn't talked to Marcus much on the wilderness trip, mostly by choice. He reminded him of a co-worker that once worked in the same manufacturing factory as him. He was a bright young man who believed he was smarter than all of the mechanic staff that had 10+ years of experience on him, just because he had a fancy degree that said he was. Honestly, both him and Marcus were probably good kids at heart, but there was only so much condescending remarks he could take. Well...worse comes to worse, Marcus was probably the a+*#@+# they needed if his paranoia wasn't actually just paranoia. But what were the chances of that?

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

"You're seriously suggesting we steal a car?" Edwin asks Marcus, an eyebrow raised. "I bet you break into your neighbor's house if your milk comes late, right?."

Edwin shakes his head and scowls. He doesn't pick up an oar.

"I still think you all are acting more paranoid than a smoker on an oil rig. If there really is an emergency wouldn't it be better to figure out what's going on as soon as possible? Bound to be emergency pamphlets or something at the resort or at least some people holding up from whatever the heck is going on. Unless, you all know something I don't?. We could be hiking in the open of some new fangled bird flu or if we're being invaded, straight into some other trigger happy soldiers."

Suffice it to say, Edwin will continue to act this way until the disaster is apparent.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin still sees no reason to arm himself with a makeshift weapon. He knows something's wrong, but assumes its nothing as usual. He might take one if someone actually puts it in his hands and insists.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin nods in agreement with the doctor.

"No sense in waiting around here, and I'm not keen on trekking back either."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Edwin merely nods. No sense in questioning the girl. After all, what could she have to hide?

At first, he took Marcus as a trigger happy idiot. That notion had yet to be disproven, but even Edwin had to admit it was better to be cautious than careless. Though, if everyone was getting their guns prepped he'd have a bit of a harder time. After all, his were still under the mattress back home hundreds of miles away.

"So, what's the plan here ranger?"

So we have cars here we can access? Or the ranger wishes we had cars here we could access?

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Had to look up Geritol, lol.

Edwin raises an eyebrow, not bothering to point out that Marcus only shushed him and not the other five people who had spoken. Regardless, he tosses his hands up in surrender and stalks off to Yael. He felt the most comfortable next to her. She seemed to have seen a lot though she had been alive than fewer years than him. She also reminded him of his daughter, Angela. He wondered how she was doing right now...

"Do you think there's something to actually be concerned about?." he whispers to her, his husky voice scraping the sides of his throat to get enough sound out.

Since Edwin is in his 50's, he would remember the zombie craze? Not that he'd have paid too much attention, but after seeing some obvious clues he might put the pieces together.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

"I'm wondering the same thing," Edwin agrees with Jojo. "But your skittish friend here insists if I 'want to remain among the living' that I should shut my trap and play Lord of the Flies here."

That even the right book? It's been a while since I've read the classics. I know they beat the s$&* out of some kid, or was that A Tale of Two Houses?

For being so gruff, old, and curmudgeonly, Edwin was actually an appreciator of the classics. He read slow, but he enjoyed them.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Edwin grunts.

"The f!&~ is wrong with you?" he asks Marcus. "Talking about living and dead and s+!*. And the Ranger's odd behavior is looking around? You forget to take your meds or something? This ain't no Starving Games."

Can't believe Angela made me go see that crap with her...

Ediwn waves off the oddly paranoid man that might have a bit too happy of a trigger finger. How many sane people do you know of spot a couple abandoned bags and immediately think its a matter a life and death.? What was wrong with this generation...

Edwin pays Marcus no mind, keeping an eye on him rather than the surroundings. Didnt' want to be shot in the back because Marcus thought he might have seen something.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Listen: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Drive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Spot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Edwin parks hi canoe safely onto shore. With a grunt, he hoists his duffel out and onto his shoulders. He didn't understand, would probably never understand why the younger folks insisted on bringing all this high tech gadgetry and weapons so powerful they'd be outlawed in some states. Where the relaxing canoe trip he had been forced to go on?

Double checking his multitool was still in his pocket, Edwin moves to the others.

"What's the matter?" he asks Marcus. "Afraid a bear's gonna sneak up on ya?."

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Meh, I don't mind risking public rejection. Anyone wanna buddy up with the old man?

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

...

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

It's not that I don't enjoy hyper-realism, and I do understand now that you explain the roll choices.

I think the only thing I have left is inventory, and....how do I say this....Edwin is a simple man. I imagine he has his work tools in the trunk of his car, and a single duffle with some very minor camping supplies. Imagine the exact opposite of Anderlorn.

Is that acceptable? I think considering all the possible things I could put down as equipment was a bit overwhelming, so I'm using my character as an excuse to not overthink it. I will take the bare minimum for a curmudgeonly old man.

If that's acceptable, I think I'm ready.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

To tell you the truth, I'm having some second thoughts. As much as Iove the scenario, with the complexity of the rolls from the scenario provided, and people talking about military weapons and park laws and all that, its getting a bit overwhelming...

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

@ Marcus
1. I'm a blue collar (mechanic) +2 wealth.
2. I have 4 ranks in profession.
3. I did not take windfall as it didn't' make sense for my character.

Male Human Tough Hero, (HP 26/26) (AC 11) (Fort +5, Ref -1, Will +0) (Init -1)

Here's what I got so far, but still a bit lost on wealth rolls and equipment. Need to re-read explanations.
