Duatha shrugs at Torin, "Besides you, who else would you like to accompany you?

I would think Fuma to be the one among us who stands out the least. Zak will draw gawks, Bander will draw trouble, I assume you've no desire to take Echo, and my Cousin and I, well, Elves always attract unwanted attention in Human cities..."

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf responds to Zak, "Outside, we need as little interaction to interfere with our travels".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha approaches Fuma, "You have done well Fuma. I appreciate your efforts.

I hope I am wrong in this but it is better that we arrive with a chance. Thanks to you and our reliable friends, I believe we will".

He pauses a moment to see if she will respond.

Thereafter, he seeks out his Cousin...

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf is reflective, not saying much each day but helping where he can. Hoping that the unlikely heroes can carry he and his companions to the city with enough time to do, something....

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha nods his head in disapproval at Fuma, "You should be taking no watch at all Fuma, we need you as well rested as our four legged heroes, no one else can do what you can do, I shall take first watch with Zak. I have had time to rest and prepare spells".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf merely observes the strange Dwarf.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

"So you were under our wagon and lost your balance and fell out?

Why would you do that, what if we traveled to a dangerous place?" Duatha's eyebrow raises as he asks the question.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

"Tell me, ah friend, how did you find yourself out here in the middle of the road in the middle of the night?"

The elf watches the creature warily as he recognizes what "method" the wretched thing utilized to "dust itself off". A simple spell but a spell nonetheless, High Sorcery is not something common among dwarves, at least as far as Duatha is aware of.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha shakes his head at Torin, "Agreed but perhaps this little fellow can aid us? Is it coincidence or providence that we found him?"

Once Fuma binds him and places him in the wagon, Duatha will jump in and rub a healing "salve" on his leg.

DM:
I want to cast Cure Light Wounds casting as softly as I can. CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4, as he does so, he will pour some water from a canteen on the injury...

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha nods to Fuma, "I may have a save that can aid with recovery.

I fear that the dressing is beyond my knowledge, can you handle that Fuma and I will administer the salve?".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The heal check is just to determine what's wrong, not healing per se though based on the roll, Duatha probably thinks you're dying!

Echo:
Not from your angle on the ground no, its because she's standing while Duatha is kneeling that she was able to "see down his robes" a vantage you wouldn't have on the ground ;-)

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha leaps out as well to check on the creature.

Heal check 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Let's have some fun...

Fuma Perception Check DC15:
As you both lean in to check on the collapsed being, you catch sight of a Medallion around Duatha's neck. The Medallion is of the God Gilean! As he shifts backwards on his heels, you lose sight of it. You are quite sure he did not notice you noticing.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf stands up and looks out of the back of the wagon as the bundle of rags, "Cousin, I have no idea".

The Wizard considers jumping out of the wagon but holds and observes the sputtering creature considering just what it is.

DM:
Looking Gully Dwarven to me! Would Duatha know that or is this one that Torin would know best?

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha rolls his eyes at his Cousin,

Elven:
"What does being a competent driver have to do with her race Cousin? Could you do better? If so, do so.

We are allies in this, Cousin, stop antagonizing our allies".

"If the Mules need assistance, I have some magic which may be able to help... first let us see what we shall need as we make our way".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha turns to his cousin, "Well Cousin, on this Fuma is correct else she would not speak so definitively.

Perhaps it is these animals that shall be the true saviors of the world..."

Actually, 11 days from now. It's too bad we're stuck with this slow mule team. would be nice to try to attempt to make it to Palanthas before that next entry, the Blue lady and Lord Soth supposedly arrives. That seems a more likely event happening than this Raistlin mage leaving the Abyss and killing a God

Duatha replies, "It's a good point cousin, we should find s team of horses.

These events happen on the same day.

We need to be there at least a few days early if we are to have hope of effecting their outcome".

Torin Ironbeard wrote:
"I thought you said the book tells the future. What is there to do? Hasn't it already happened? Or will happen?"

Duatha curls his lips in concentration then shakes his head and responds, "I cannot say that I know Torin.

It is a date in the future. If the future is written and cannot be changed then we are soothsayers to a dark fate.

I would prefer not to believe this to be so. If there is anything we can do to prevent such a catastrophe should we not at least try?"

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha shakes his head at Bander, "I don't think so. Most Historical treatises only cover the most relevant events of a given period of time. Every mundane barfight would create a library so large no city could house it.

Though not quite a man, Astinus is also no God".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha shakes his head at Bander, "Nothing about the bar fight.

Here, on the Eighteeth Day, Fourth Month, Brother Lanadon delivers a copy of the Final Volume to Dero Squireson in Solanthus. The same Magistrate that held us on our last arrest.

Hmmm, had we left when we intended to, the book would have arrived after we had all departed..."

As the wagon continues to move Duatha continues to read, "The next entry,

Third Day Fifthmonth, 356. That's what, ten days from now?

Led by the Blue Lady and Lord Soth, the dragonarmy arrives in... Palanthas!"

Duatha cocks his head, "How is this possible?

I have heard no rumors of the Dragonarmies on the move". He sighs, "Tanis Half-Elven falls in battle against Lord Soth!"

He is exasperated, "If this is even conceivably true, we must hurry. One of the Heroes of the Lance cannot be allowed to die in such a manner! But there is more..."

The Elves face turns grim, "Raistlin emerges from the portal in the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas, followed by Takhisis. While the Battle of Palanthas rages outside, Raistlin slays the Dark Queen. Absorbing her power, he departs Krynn to do battle with the Gods".

He shakes his head, "This is Madness.

But if any part of this is true, we must get to Palanthas and warn Astinus, he may not be able to interfere but he can certainly put us in contact with those who can aid us!"

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha shrugs at Bander's question and looks to see if such a minor event would even be noted, "I'll check".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

"I'd be happy to drive if you wish to end in a ditch Fuma.

We all have skills to be brought to bear, when the time comes, you'll thank me for mine".

That said he turns to Sheska, "Indeed, that is what most raised my alarm, the book writes of events that happened recently in Qualinesti that I am familiar with and none outside of the Elven realm should have so readily known about".

He turns to the pages in the book of the most recent time and flips a page or two forward looking for an event that will happen in the coming days close enough to their current location for him to verify.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf glares at Fuma, "I remember no such instruction regarding not reading the Book at any rate, if you wish to head back to the Solamnians to discuss the particulars, we have yet to travel far".

Gritting his teeth he turns to Zak and nods, "Perhaps these are the fever dreams of a lunatic but if they are not, I would rather someone with some actual authority be aware of this... writing.

I am sure no one is Istar thought a fiery mountain would fall upon the city either, the Blood Sea is proof that such things can happen".

That said, the elf mounts the wagons with his belongings and tries to settle in for some sleep on the bumpy midnight ride.

That is a shame - Zak was having a good RP dynamic with Sheska.

Fuma, though I am also a Cleric, I have not revealed as much.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

"We are being paid to go to Palanthus my little Kender friend.

How convenient no?

Certainly the end feels a long way away until it is not Torin.

If we move faster we are paid faster. If the book is a forgery and my alarm is for nothing so be it but I prefer that we rest less and push harder. I think my request to be reasonable. What say you all?"

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The Great Library is located in Palanthus, our ultimate destination.

This date troubles me, I feel we should move faster along the road. If it is a forgery, I assume that Astinus will know and I can be troubled no longer about what was written".

Duatha sighs at Fuma's statement, "Astinus, among the elves, is rumored to be connected somehow to the God Gilean.

As I have a... special affinity for Gilean, I wanted to read the book. After all, it is a book about the History of the World, or at least, it was supposed to be".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

"As unlikely as that sounds Bander, yes. The ways of Wizard's especially powerful Human ones are not easily explainable".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Everyone Assembled by the Wagon

Duatha gets close to the wagon and gestures for the others to come closer as well. He holds out the book, "This book, is one of the Chronicles of Astinus, the Librarian of Palanthus.

Who or what the Librarian is, is a mystery. He has chronicled the history of the world for as long as even the Elves remember and Elven memories are long.

Unlike most of his books, this book details events which have yet to take place.

I suspect that the Wizard planted this book among us, the why I do not know. It must be some sort of forgery, though if it is a forgery, it is a good one.

It is the entry on the final page that has me, for lack of a better word, startled. Ware the current date - 22nd day, fourth month, 356AC".

Duatha reads the final sentence aloud, "Fourth day, Fifthmonth, 358 AC. Raistlin Majere, Master of the Past and the Present, destroys Paladine. The world ends. The history of Krynn is complete".

His face is grim as he looks at his assembled companions, "Thoughts? Whether a forgery or not, it is vital that this book reach the Great Library so we can discuss its contents with the Great Librarian himself".

Duatha and Aeleni:
"I do not know, we are at least not in direct danger but we must gather and discuss what I have ... discovered".

Duatha gathers his things and heads down to the common room once more to gather his allies, "My friends, we should join Fuma in the stables, there is a matter of grave importance to discuss".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha and Aeleni:
"We should gather everyone and meet by the wagons,we may need to leave this night".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha stares at the passage once more,

Elven:
"Cousin, please come here for a moment".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha blinks and closes his eyes, I must be exhausted.

He closes the book and opens it once more...

What is the current date?

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The Elven mage raises an eyebrow at the action and is certainly impressed with Torin, It appears my silver is indeed, well spent.

As the Black Robe makes no move to approach so he too does not approach. He flips through Sheska's spellbook until he finds a spell he wishes to learn on the road the next day.

The Elven Wizard then retires to his room to crack open the book to be delivered to the Great Library, how could he resist not looking at it?

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha orders the fish and awaits Sheska's response to his request though he does keep an eye on the situation with Zak. It's as if these fools do not realize that the Minotaur is here with allies.

Duatha leans into Aeleni,

Elven:
[b]"These are the fool humans you are used to dealing with Cousin, braggarts and fools. At least the leader appears to have some sense".[/[b]

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha raises an eyebrow as Fuma exits, "She cannot do this all night and be fresh for the next day. We should take turns and do it in groups of two. There are enough of us all for this to take place and be fresh for the next day's travel".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha nods respectfully to the Black Robe though he makes no further move or gesture.

The speech by the mercenaries causes no response form the Elf, if the Minotaur wishes to fight certainly he will back him but he supposes the Minotaur is used to suffering such fools among Humans.

He calls for the wait staff and asks for Elven Wine and a light dinner of salads with some seasoned chicken.

While waiting he turns to Sheska, "My dear, would you mind if I peruse your own tome for a spell that I may find of interest while we await our rooms to be prepared? I meant to ask in the wagon ride today but was sidetracked by deep thoughts."

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha nudges Sheska and nods to the Black Robe.

He takes a seat at the table to take a load off of his feet. Much as he wishes to read the book to be delivered to the Great Library, he knows to wait until the group has their own private room to do so. For now, he is content to wait, after all, as an Elf, he has many centuries to live and is not as impulsive as the humans and other short lived races.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha finishes his meal and when the wagon arrives he grins a bit, happy to finally be away from here and back once more towards his ultimate destination.

---

Fuma should be carrying the wand as I have yet to reveal I have any divine abilities I/C.

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha does not respond to the sharing of the nature of their employer, "There is nothing to tell. The crafty old wizard used magic to escape his cell.

They seem not interested in tracking him down so I assume they must believe him harmless or do not wish to draw attention to their own ineptitude".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duatha smiles at Sheska, "Yes done. We have the documents from the Court as well as the Book for the Library, I shall retain both items for the journey for I certainly wish to visit the Great Library.

A wagon eh? So we have transport and we are being paid for it? A fine deal indeed".

Duatha finishes his meal and considers pulling the book from the satchel but for now waits. He places his spellbook back in among his own belongings.

"Agreed, I too am ready to leave this place".

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

The elf shrugs, "I found myself a bit tired on the road and weary from lack of nutrition, it does not hurt to have a full belly at the onset of such a "quest".

If the last several weeks are any indication, what keeps them is foolishness, not of our own devices..."

W1/C1 | HP 15 | AC 12 | CMD 15 | F+2| R+2 | W+4 | Per +3

Duath and Aeleni:
"I will assume they shall be back soon, if we wish a warm meal, now may be the time to get it Cousin".

Duatha orders a hearty meal of meats and stew along with some ale, unusual for him but with along road trip ahead and unknown dangers might as well have a full belly.

Duatha shrugs as Aeleni berates the dwarf, she's not wrong so he says nothing.

Duatha takes the books at the satchel, "Thank you... ah Master Dwarf.

I disagree Cousin, let us head to the Inn, too many pick pockets and criminals in the Market. Hopefully our new allies will come there to find us with the wagon they have purchased".
