This is going to be one walloping catapult shot :)

In between catapult loading motions Dravox points to the distance.

Those two look... different. I can't put my finger on how. Can anybody see them better than me?

Are they close enough for Detect magic, or too far in the distance?

Dravox peers out into the darkness to search for the leader giving orders as he absent-mindedly helps Cole reload the catapult for the next firing.

This is an FYI that I'm going to be traveling and away from computers Aug 1-12. I will be unable to post during that time, so feel free to bot as needed.

Dravox seems almost amused by the timing.

It appearss they have come for the Grand Re-opening of our sub-par catapults. Cole, shall we?

They can have their ssecrets, but I highly doubt that one wasn't about us or the bandits. I'm curious...

He follows Cole to help with the repairs as best he can.

But yes, you're right, they do seem hospitable.

I'm presuming it's a check to try each of these things?

Knowledge (engineering), salvage catapult 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Probably aiding cole for most of these

After they enter the guest house for the night, and after the door is fully closed, Dravox asks the others

Did anyone hear what that woman whispered to her husband? They are obviously very hospitable to us, but they don't seem that affected by the brutality of constant bandit attacks.

This is an FYI that I'll be away this coming weekend, 6/12-13, with no access to computers or phone signal. I should be able to resume Sunday evening (US/Pacific time). Given that it's a weekend I expect minimal disruption.

Dravox winces at the manual task asked of him. He asks Svetlana where there is a water source and simply uses his waterskin to continuously rinse the stone before the blood stains it. He avoids hard scrubbing.

Well, not all of us are so "blunt" of instrumentss. But yes, instruments none-the-less.

Dravox strides further into the fort now that it is safe, unaware of anything odd about Svetlana.

Do you experience these attacks often?

Huffing at how little affect his arcane force has had to this point, Dravox indignantly approaches the thug who broke out of the hog-tie. An eerie shadowy mist begins to emanate from his left hand. It darkens to the point that his fingertips disappear into the amorphous shadow. He grins at it, and looking up at the foe, reaches out to touch him with that hand.

One thing that's going to be important for Dravox is wherever there is dim light. Does that exist in this space or is it pretty well-lit?

As the group proceeds into the fort, Dravox hangs back for just a moment to shore up his defenses.

He mutters a short incantation as he weaves shimmery arcane energy out of the air. It gathers around him making a barely visible barrier.

Dravox stares intently towards their intended direction for a moment. After he is unable to recapture what caught his eye, he sighs and gives up.

Dravox seems to instantly shift from sleeping to awake and alert. Within five minutes he's broken down his little sleeping area and is strolling about the area as if he'd never settled down.

The mage proceeds through the morning in a leisurely manner, watching the others and pondering on them from time to time. While at first some of them seemed quite malcontented, there seems to be some manner of potential among the campers they'd stumbled upon.

The pale man is still focused on shadows and fire when the group begins to settle down.

He doesn't seem to shift his attention when Grx comes over to inquire about his first impressions. After a long pause, he finally lets out Hmph, it always takes much to do big things. Whoever wants to aim high will come along and see. Maybe it's not these, but we need both leaders and citizens.

He gets into his pack and extracts a rolled-up bedroll. Very well, wake me when it's my turn.

Dravox smiles subtly as Grx continues on with his spontaneous pep-talk.

Yess, this is why he will rally many to his side. These others around the fire will be grateful they were there at the beginning...

After listening to Cole, he pauses for several moments before responding.

Hmm... thatss what they want is for you to heed your fear. When others are involved, you're ceding them control. We're not talking about standing in front of a Tarrasque here, but fear used by those who might not best you otherwise. And yes, that is the point, there are many without better options, and those will find themselves as equals here. The mage sets aside his search for magic booty for a moment to come see what Grx is so excited about.

Looking over his shoulder, the pale man remarks Ah! A charter, and with no names, which we now hold. Very good! He seems genuinely interested in the opportunity that it presents.

He eyes it carefully to see how it's certified or authorized. Is that perception or appraise?

I wonder how many of these are floating around. Is this truly an exclusive claim?

Dravox smirks a bit to himself at Cole's remarks. If the orcs can muster power and maintain control of Belkzen, we can do so here. You just have to get... creative.

His smile deepens as he runs over the idea in his head.

So, we're off and running on RP alone, which is awesome. In case you missed it GM, Dravox did a thing that could use a result.

As Cuddles drags the bodies back to camp, Dravox stops and looks up.

Yes, very sad. Did they have anything... arcane on them?

He stands, gesticulates, and mutters in low Draconic for a moment before casting his arcane eye on the bodies.

Cast detect magic.

Dravox bobs his head back and forth, half-agreeing with Grx's account of their meeting.

Hmm... ssort of. What I said was that I thought you had greater things to do with your life than die in such simple way. I'm a reasonable judge of character and sense things.

The pale man frowns at the mention of fate.

I think the gods have better things to do than sling random folk together in the dead of night. We make our own fate, and this still seems an unlikely happenstance.

Later, Grx glances at him and then the way out. Dravox simply chuckles.

Right. They have to see sometime.

He let's them go see but isn't overly interested in witnessing the reaction so he continues to play with his shadow cantrips by the fire.

Only... just met each other?!

His eyes narrow as he scans each of the four already around the fire. It seems highly unlikely. Better keep an eye out, it could be a setup to rob us overnight.

He puts it out of his mind while Grx continues the conversation. He vaguely snaps to attention when he asks how long they've been traveling together.

Hmm, yes, give or take a fortnight.

There they go again, bragging about their drinks.

Yes, strips paint. Just make sure not to sniff it too much before you drink it, like that one time...

As they continue on Dravox drops into his own reverie of practicing very simple magics that others likely don't even notice. He gesticulates towards small stones for moments before they dim and take on a slightly shadowy form, as if something had blocked out the moon for only them.

My friend. you were supposed to wait for the thumbs up. Ah well. We are amongst fire-friends.

The pale man shrugs at his friend's chiding.

I could read a good situation from your interactions, but apologies. A plan is a plan.

The tenderloin. For you, my friend Dravox. you know how you get when you dont get meat.

He immediately shoves a piece into his mouth. Hmm, yesh. I remember. The sscurvy.

As he finishes his portion in short order he eyes the well-crafted, seemingly elven bags near the orc. He gestures vague to the group at the fire.

Sso, the four of you make an interesting party. What brings you out into the wild together?

Soon after the half-giant walks into the light, everyone hears an almost-muffled voice from behind him.

Hmm, yess, these ones will do. Warm fire, dulled minds, no hostilities.

Having approached Grx'Tryn first, Cuddles sees the bare outline of a cloaked figure emerge from behind him. It is truly a shadowy outline through which, at first glance, you think you can see through. Only when he steps into the light does a very pale face appear.

Oh good, another big one. he remarks, before taking a few steps closer to the fire. It now appears he is, in fact, corporeal and not really just a shadow.

Absalom? Perhaps you mean to say Kaer Maga. All the ssame, thanks for sharing your fire.

From the above post, I presumed that the listed characters were instructed to enter this scene. I don't *think* we're supposed to enter here (correct me if I'm wrong, GM).

Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know I will be away from access to computers and unable to post this Saturday, 2/27 (all day). I will be back and able to catch up early in the afternoon (US/Pacific time) the next day.

My Kingmaker campaign starts tomorrow night, wish me luck.

I will have seven players, but I suspect only 6 will be regulars. I havve a gnome druid with a tiger, a human cleric of Sarenrae (fire/healing), a human ranger, a half-orc barbarian, and elf sorcerer (elemental), a half orc rogue, and an undecided.

I will start them off with a modified Hollow's Last Hope, then run them through book 1 using the 6 player conversion (thanks to Alexander Kilcoyne and everyone else who worked on it).

I plan on forshadowing the BBEG more than is written and having the party meet some of the NPC's from the other groups in Restov.

Depending on how things go in book 1, I will most likely steal DM_aka_Dudemeister's ideas for Hargulka.

So thanks to everyone I am stealing ideas from.

Kaluthmar

Oh yeah, the dance hall will again be known as the brothel ;)

I will be starting Kingmaker for my group soon and I had a question on the six player conversions. By the way, thanks to all who worked on them, they will make my life a lot easier.

The question is, when running the game for six players, should I increase the size of the rooms where combat takes place to account for the extra PCs and NPCs? Some of the rooms and passageways look a little tight which might cause a train wreck in combat.

Thanks.
