Healing is kinda slow in this game, the Doc decides to stay back, he's got several patients now.

reminds me of a speech I gave as a doppelganger rogue. None of my companions knew I was a doppel. One was a paladin. I had them all thinking I was going to just horribly torture someone for information. I just stuffed her into a bag of holding (with a bottle of air and sustaining spoon) and snuck her out of the dungeon to rescue her. Told everyone she gave me the info we needed and that I dissolved her remains. I had previously written a note to the GM of what I was actually doing. For the next couple of sessions the other players were really having their characters reconsider their association with me, which worked perfectly against the NPC's that were pissed their prisoner had disappeared. They pretty much testified to my actions for me, so I didn't have to lie in the truth field, they told the truth as they knew it. Days later, after we'd left town did I pull the prisoner from my bag, healthy and whole. Riotous! OMG, the looks on their faces when they realized the whole plot and their unwitting part in it!
Anyone have a map of the area? Devon sighs, I was so looking forward to practicing a new surgical procedure. Devon steps back from the bandit and replaces the scalpel with the other tools. He leaves them out and in view as he moves around behind the bandit.
SO captured "bandit's" meant one conscious and one almost dead. And all my speech for an audience of mulitple bandits is really just one that is unconscious and not in a position to hear or respond and one tied to a chair?
I saw that "bandits" (plural) were taken to the jail. Is the one in triage sitting in a chair having his shirt removed?

ahh, that first post was just the psychological get them worried. Hopefully get them talking without even asking any questions. As a parent I once asked my son, "so, tell what happened." No direct question, no specific incident. He started spilling on several issues that I was going to need to address. I've also used this with employees. "You know why you're here. Tell me your side of it." I find out all sorts of useful stuff by not asking about anything in particular.
Guess you're first then. I do appreciate your volunteering. Hopefully your sacrifice will endear one of your companions to share what little information they may have. Why, one of them may even start speaking quickly enough to save your sorry hide. Doc waves for the bandit to be tied to the chair. Oh, I don't want anything from you. You just get to sit here and experience. It's your companions that I'm interested in what your plans were. Where this mystery Dave will be heading to, and how many men he has. Assuming the bandit is securely tied to the chair, Devon picks up one of his scalpels and approaches the bandit. Now hold still, I don't want you to start bleeding just yet. Devon starts cutting the man's shirt off, carefully so as to not nick the guy, just let him feel the back of the blade slide across his skin.

Well, I didn't expect to make everyone speechless...
The Doc had seen to those he could help immediately, rest was what they needed now, and good food. He'd kept his black bag and followed as the bank robbers were led to the jail. At the sheriff's comment, he gently set his black bag on the top of the desk. He opened the bag slowly. He sighed gently and pulled the bonesaw out, tilted it slightly from side to side, studying the teeth of the blade before setting it on top of the desk, in view of the bandits. He reaches and pulls out a roll of cloth, tied with a silk ribbon. He gently sets the roll down and reverently pulls the silk ribbon loose. As he unrolls the fabric, gleaming steel handles glint. He pulls a pair of forceps, long wicked prongs stick out on either side of a harsh drill sticking out between them. Well sheriff, the war often required unsavory methods of encouraging captured personnel to share their story. He replaces the forceps and next slides out a long gleaming, curved scalpel, razor sharp and near four inches long. The benefit of medical training was knowing how to keep the prisoner alive while giving them a glimpse of hell. He next pulls out a mechanical contraption, a turnkey sticks out of one end while a drill extends from the opposite side of a small drum. Gripping the drum firmly, Devon gives the turnkey a few twists. Click, click, click. A faint clicking is heard as he ratchets the turnkey a few more times before releasing the turnkey. The racketing of gears turning fills the air with a hum as the drill bit starts spinning. Twenty seconds later the gears run down and Devon places the clockwork drill on the table. He's not yet looked at any of the bandits, remaining focused on laying out his tools. He walks across the room and picks up a chair, moving it to a few feet from the desk and carefully placing the chair just so. You're going to want a couple of buckets. It's rarely the first guy. Why, once I went through half a platoon before someone got smart. Devon didn't look at the bandits, he simply stared at the wall as he slowly, and carefully rolled his sleeves. He was careful to fold each sleeve evenly, until his forearms were bared. Once his sleeves were rolled up, and his tools laid out, he looked at the chair, and shifted it a couple of inches to one side. Devon finally looks to the bandits, who's first?
Damn these deplorable conditions! Niko receives care!
I count my xp at 170... Do I get more for doctoring? :) I'll spend 100 to get my medicine to 7.
Devon hurries to Niko, If someone would get my bag from my room at the inn? And start boiling some water, clean cloths! Devon quickly rips one of Niko's sleeves off and folds it into a pad, pushing it against the worst of the wounds. Looks like its just a scratch, another scar to join the ones you've collected so far.
Doc grabs a couple handfuls of tackle and leaves the barn, he'll head for the closest cover from anyone, tossing the tackle in the yard on the way.
Who can I get to that is obviously wounded, and not a robber? I'd prefer to avoid barging in the open.
Devon hears the gunfire. damn, left the rifle in my room, and my derringer ain't likely to do much. He just continues to work on getting the horses out, and then he'll grab some saddles and tackle on his way out of the barn.

I thought this was a pass-through for the coach? Is it an end point? If an end point, it seems weird that the two latest arrivals got kicked off for not having money to go further, they're at the end of the line. If it is a pass through, that would still mean an in and out?
So the guys robbed the bank at the other end of town, and then rode through town just to rub it in? Instead of just going east out of town while everyone else is on the west end fighting the fire?
Devon would be working on the animals first, gear later.
The doc pulls a bandana from his pocket, dips it into the water trough and ties it around his mouth and nose as he runs into the barn to free horses.
Devon runs for the stable yard, heading straight for the gate. His first priority is to get the horses out. FIRE! Devon shouts as he runs down the street, just in case there's anyone that isn't aware.
The Doc watches the interaction and mentally shrugs as he heads for the hotel himself. Probably as good a place as any to see about getting the word out about his presence.

Devon watches the young mother and her brother as they leave, shaking his head slightly at the desperation of the situation. Never had dealings with bounty hunters. Sounds about as dangerous as being a scout. Devon slides the brim of his hat back, I've also just arrived. I'm considering settling down. There's no local sawbones here and having one around should be quite handy.
Not the first time I saw something like this, especially right after the war. Doc, pulls lightly on the brim of his hat, I think a drink be in order.
Devon takes his hat off and scratches his head, he'd heard the whispers on the way over, and looking at the three it seemed to be a right uncomfortable setting. I may not be a family man myself, but then what? She's going to settle down here with, uhhm Devon looks at Charles, what's your name? Wait, don't answer. Devon turns to the young mom, What's his name?
I'm not there yet, but heading that way.
Doc saw the procession out the window, and turns to the newsman, looks like news. Shall we?
I'm trying to hold tight to my funds, would you have need of any help around for the right to read some of those back issues?
I'm thinking maybe a map of the area? I'm not too interested in setting up with a loan to put up a whole building when I don't know the amount of need I may have. So maybe a traveling doc would be a better option for now. Devon looks around the office, do you have some of your older publications? I'll buy a few to read and catch up on the local news.
I'm looking to find a place to hang my shingle. For starters, just a room I can work in and a cot to sleep on. Somehow I doubt there's need for someone like me full time, at least here in town. Are there many ranches or farms close by? I could see about making the rounds, check up on folks, and their livestock.
A pleasure to meet you, Dr. Devon McBride. Sure seems like Grant will win too. I left because it often seems like the war just ended last week, country's still recovering. Me, I felt like striking out, settling someplace new. Maybe here. Devon doffs his hat in greetings as he looks around, town seems a might small for its own news-sheet, what's it like here?
Devon was just finishing his morning coffee from a seat in front of the inn when Marcus and Niko left. He tipped his hat good morning. He watched them walk down the street before he turned to take inventory of what business he could see from the inn.
Devin comes down a little after dawn, having taken his time getting ready without a reason to rush. Walking down stairs he asks the inn-keeper, "mind if I take a seat out front, I'd like to enjoy my breakfast with the open air." Devon nods when he hears Nikomedos, sounds like a plan... he considers joining the bounty hunter.
Devon takes a stroll through the town, checking out what buildings and business there are on the main strip. He's also looking to see if any have empty space he can look at for an office.
Devon heads for Wesley and gives him a brief check.
Such a waste for man to harm each other needlessly. Though I'd likely have little to do without such actions. Devon moves to stand at a corner of the ring, holding his bag in front of him. make way, make way, doctor coming through.
Wouldn't winner of initiative have an opportunity to respond to loser's planned action? Both roll initiative.
