The only things normally immune to crits are Oozes, elementals, and incorporeal undead. Zombies and such can be critted.

Well C is more or less what I did anyhow. I just jumped back with no running start. I will use my staggerproof boots to do a move as an immediate action (once per day) to do my jump.
