So after much debate (between 4 different classes), I've settled on Necromancer (from Grim World). :) Can't have all those wonderful corpses go to waste. Some might need some stitching back together but that's nothing that can't be fixed :)

Sad to see this game end, I liked Darya and Dusk, but I understand and no hard feelings here! If you start up a game again in the future, let me know because I would love to join! Wishing you the best wherever life takes you :) @Numeo: That one was fun :) I'm in if you choose to reboot it.

Darya eyed the tentacle, keeping her eyes on it and the rising form below, as much as she could and still continue the ritual. At Eli's question, she gave him a brief glance and held up three then made it four fingers before waving her hand side to side. "Uh-oh..." spoke the blob on her head, sounding suddenly very ominous. "He's coming..." Darya tried to keep her eyes out for incoming tentacles, but she could only spare so much focus from the ritual. That's why she asked Dusk to be her voice and her eyes, well for the most part. She would move if she had too, but this ritual must continue.

Oops. Thought I got something up here last night, but I'm traveling this week. Heading out on a 12 hour drive to do an on-site training this morning. I'll be a spotty poster till I get back home since I don't know how much free time I'll have.

Darya puts most of her focus into her current task, she does reach up to tap the deep red necklace about her neck when she spots the creeping tentecle. It quivers, before moving climbing to sit on top of Darya's head as a blob. Part of it stretches up, as if forming a head. This is proven correct with a mouth opens. "Incoming! Tentacle Attack! No Touchy him! Bad Tentacle! Bad!" It's voice is higher pitched, as it calls out it's strange warning. Eli, just so you know and can react properly to this, this is the first time you've seen Dusk not as a necklace. Usually the only time he's not pretending to be a necklace is if it's just the two of them, or he's off getting info for her.

GM Mogthrasir wrote: Darya, have you ever done something like this before? In your experience, what did you find took the most focus and concentration? Yes, I have done something like this before. Twice in fact. The first time was an impromptued stopping of one of Thyric's children, Geska. The other well. Now that was a whole bunch of craziness that I got pulled into by Kasu. Long story short, someone thought it would be a great idea to try to summon this leviathan from legend, aka Kasu. Whole bunch of craziness happened, and I had to stop it. That and have to attempt to remove any and all historical references to Kasu (making me do all the dirty work). But that is a story for another time. The hardest part of performing a ritual like this? Well, I find it's maintaining just enough hold on the magic to keep it from going out of control, and it needs to be flexible. If you restrict it too strictly and/or rigidly, it's power turns more to fighting you for control. With the right amount, you are able to guide the power and get the most results for your efforts. This is a delicate balance and requires the most focus in complex rituals. Which is why, especially when underwater, I prefer to use song-casting for things like this. It helps the magic carry and allows you to keep flexible control. You just have to not drop your notes or you could lose the spell. *Short Version about Focus and Concentration: Keeping flexible control while casting. This is maintained through her song-casting, making dropped or missed notes bad. "Yes, I can. Summonings and the reversals there of are no easy tasks, but sending something back is often much easier than bringing it." Darya gave Eli a smile of thanks and a chuckle at being called crazy, though her attention was mostly on the horn. "Keep us from being interrupted. This could take as long as five minutes or so." ==== Post Location if they choose to move to a more secure location, otherwise, where they currently are ====

=== To answer the question asked of her before === "He is of the Ocean." Darya responds to the question, not overly concerned with Eli. === Back with the Shaman === "If I was worried about being a target, do you think I'd be here?" She flashed him a toothy grin before her face became serious once again. "I'll do it, but with your help. It will be quicker with the two of us, leaving less time for anyone to be a target." Darya glances around looking for Eli. She'll meet his eyes for just a moment, trusting him to help with keeping them safe. She breaks eye contact as she reaches down to pick up the horn. Her gaze meets the shaman's, "Ready?"

Darya meets his gaze, and refuses to break it. She's not some weak willed little pushover. "That Thyric is a Kraken of the Deep, one to be feared. That his power is mighty and should not be taken lightly. Chains only bind so long, and his anger is force to be reckoned with. That said, he is angry, furious. If your control falters only a hair, you and I both know that's enough for him to break free. If he does, there will be nothing safe from his wrath. Nothing. Not even the Shrine you seek to reclaim." Her voice changed tone, and she spoke as if quoting something others had thought of her in times past. She looked away, at first before her tone returned to normal and her gaze returned to him once again. "'Oh what could this little girl be thinking? What would one such as you know of Thyric, let alone anything?' Oh I know Thryic, and I know the danger you are in." "Surely you can feel it in the magic that surrounds us just as I can. Something didn't go right, didn't go as planned, whether you wish to admit it or not. So I ask, dismiss Thyric before something regrettable happens." Parley: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 3) + 2 = 10

Darya quickly swam over, concern on her face for the fallen Mostul. "If he's not controlling Thyric, we are all in danger. As I said, I can send Thyric back. Let me, please? Let me help save you and what you fight for." If you feel this needs a Parley or something, let me know.

"Yes, I spent time with them. They took me in for a while, treated me like family." She smiles some as she thinks about the Mers. Though that smile turned into more concern as the talk turned back to Thyric. "Can you not feel it? The magic in the air from the Summoning, something isn't right. I know of his tantrums, his anger. I know of his power. Each time he is called, the risk increases of him breaking free. It takes great power to not only summon, but to control. What if, all has not gone right this time?" She drops silent for a moment. "I can... check for us? I do still have my rune-stones." Darya would try to talk them out of this summoning. If you feel I need to roll something at any point let me know.

"I know that some of the SurfaceFolk have taken the Shrine and the waters here prisoner. If Thyric is no longer controlled, he will destroy everything, this ship, all of you, and the Shrine. Let me help, I can dismiss him. Stop the Danger before it happens. If he comes, what you seek to reclaim and protect will be gone. Darya's spell-book is covered in whale-sharkskin. The spine is covered in decoratively carved shells to protect and add strength to the book. The carved shells are used as corner covers as well. The pages are sewn together using baleen, because of it's flexible and durable properties. The pages inside are specially made by OceanFolk to handle being underwater. I see Darya being up on deck, before she ducked somewhere, like a nook or behind some things to scan through her spell-book in a slightly safer location. 'Now, to see if I can talk them out of their horn.' Just as she was about to leave her nook, Captian Kale stopped. He was asking about the Kracken, about Thyric. "Yes. This one is named Thyric and he's angry, very angry. I get the feeling they've called him a few too many times." She paused to let him take in that information before continuing on. "I can send him back, but it's harder without the horn that summoned him. I have to make the horn myself if we can't talk them out of theirs. To make one, I need a conical shell at least this big." She motions around her torso to convoy the size. "Yes, it needs to be big. And I need two others familiar with the magic of the sea or the divine. It should only take five to ten minutes, but if they don't give up the horn, they can summon him again, and we will end up in a cycle with no set end. That is, unless they see reason. You help me get what I need to send him back, and I'll keep them from getting him here as long as I possibly can. As for, magic to breath underwater," a grin spread across her face. "There are always ways."

Summoned from the Deep - AKA I can't think of anything here that isn't unnecessarily leading, a drug reference, or an 80's song title. At the sound of the horn, Darya shivered. That was dark magic; Dark, dark magic that summoned something from the depths of the Ocean. But the question was What and Who? 'He's coming. Thyric is coming. And he's angry.' Dusk spoke into her ear, his voice barely heard over the noise of everything else. He was relaying a message from Kasu. 'Thyric... Thyric...' One second she was racking her brain for who Thyric was, for she remembered Kasu saying something about him before, about arguing with him. It was at that moment it hit her. "You mean Argues with Kasu, Thyric? Tries to pick fights with Kasu, Thyric? Thyric the Kracken!?" Her voice was a sharp whisper fully of shock and disbelief with an edge of fear. 'Uh-huh' Darya tried to supress the panic, how much time did they have? How stupid where these Orcillians? Had the forgotten the risks? Summing in general was dangerous, but a Kracken? Thyric was just as likely to turn on them as aid them. Everyone there was in danger! There was still some time before Thyric arrived, but who knew how long. "Everyone! Be on guard! That horn was a summoning horn! They are calling a Kracken from the Deep!" 'Is this how they sunk the other ships?' Cha: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10 Questions and Answer Reference: What sinister force has that horn released into the breeze (sentient or none)? That was not just any horn, that was a summoning horn. The magic in the breeze is the summons calling forth the being tied to it. In this case, it is Thyric, a Kraken of the Deep. He's not here yet, but he is on his way and apparently, he's angry. What powerful effect does it have on the Oceanfolk that embrace it? The sound of the horn and the magic hanging in the air was empowering those that supported the call. They know help, and very likely our doom, is on it's way. That belief is giving them strength. What's the cost, should one be overpowered by it? Summons don't always listen to their summoner(s) and they can be hard to control. Krackens are notorious for being contrary, hard to control summons. Some summons charge a high price. He could easily kill everyone there, easily sink the ship. It all depends on his mood, and according to Kasu, right now he's an angry Kracken.

"Of course, Captain." Darya gives a curtsy motion in reply, polite and respectful. The whole time a smile still graces her face. Rising from her curtsy, she turns to Mr. Greybreak, "After the meal, perhaps you can show me the ship? I hope to be able to place a protection over it, but I need to see what is needed where first." With another curtsy she dismisses herself for the time being, taking a seat. She can feel the eyes upon her, it was normal. She was used to the stairs. Usually when she look at them, they looked away. But not the Islander, this Numeo, he met her gaze. Even moved from his spot to sit in front of her. "Why yes, this one was a gift from someone special. But I've been known to craft a few myself." Proposed Bond: Numeo has an eye for magic creations. I will see how I can use this to my advantage.

@Quelthas: Well Dusk is her necklace right now. I picture her warding pentacle to either be on the back of one of the shells of her attire, or attached as a carved piece of shell. Side note about Darya's height: Darya is short, reflecting the smaller end of the height range for Primordials. Her height is more a reflection of the environment in which she grew up than racial/genetic predisposition. Possible Bond: With Captain Kale, I'd like to suggest the following bond: I have seen Captain Kale's future and wish to change it. This captain will not sink with the ship. I'm still thinking on other possible bonds.

Well, while my warding pentacle is not labeled arcane, it's still something I can create with magic. So that could easily be the source around me, or it can be me because of how I came about my magic. :) Dusk is well... a magically created familiar so that's why I said he sensed strongly of magic. The poppets in my bag are tagged arcane and my spellbook is there as well. Wasn't sure if you wanted to be the things around me or me myself :)

Yes, you can. There is magic coming from the bag she brought with her and there is a magical aura surrounding her that is particularly strong coming from her necklace. There is also a small blade made from whale bone and decorated with colorful coral strapped to her leg, keeping it in easy reach, though it does not seem to be a source of any magical auras.

Pale shells decorate her long, navy hair. Her clothing is practical for swimming, made scales and shells woven together with seagrass. A black-red necklace sits around her neck, reflecting the light of the fading sun. As she stands on the deck, you can how small she is built. Standing under 5' in height, she looks to be not much more than skin and bones. Her red eyes are intelligent and confident, and she seems as comfortable standing on the ship as she had in the water. The fact that she is smaller than most if not all the crew does not phase her. Sometimes, she reaches to stroke her necklace. Whether this is a conscious or an unconscious action is hard to tell.

I had fun with creating them. :) And I look forward to more Delving and Creation. I believe, with that taken care of, all I am missing is Bonds, which I assume will happen after I come in? I have her sheet set up in her profile, and there is an EXP log down at the bottom.

GM: How about a mix of some of those ideas :)
Kasu spoke to Dayra, telling her that there was a group of SurfaceFolk on a ship named Eye of the Storm coming that could help them reclaim the shrine. Darya, seeing a way to help her family and willing to do just about anything for them, brought it before the Mers. Several of them had hope, and some have chosen to come with her to pation these SurfaceFolk for help. Others, a particularly violent and aggressive group of Mers, strongly opposed the idea, and are moving to destroy this invading ship. Learning of this, Darya and the others have attempted to reach the party ahead of the other group. I think that Violent group needs a name...
