Daneel hurries down from the wall and makes his way towards the doorway that the beasts entered. He has his flashlight and laser pistol pointed forward and at the ready as he approaches.

Daneel gropes around in his survival backpack and pulls out the flashlight. He turns it on, then sweeps the beam in the direction he sensed the nearest predator.

Daneel waits on the wall in the darkness. He reaches out his senses to try and detect the coming attackers.

Using Life Detection

Life Detection

The most elementary form of Telepathy is the ability to detect the presence of other minds. Life detection enables a Traveller to sense the presence of other minds, the number of other minds present, the general type of minds (animal, human. etc.) and their approximate location.

Life Detection is reasonably sophisticated, and can distinguish intelligent beings from bacteria or unimportant animals in the area. It functions best in detecting intelligent minds. Shielded minds are undetectable. If an individual whom the telepath knows in detected using this power, he or she will be recognized.

With rain dripping down his face, Daneel turns to the equally bedraggled vargr. "Me too. I like our chances following them way more than stumbling through these ruins on our own." He moves to follow the strangers.

Daneel raises his hands over his head and shouts, "No! We aren't your enemies. We can help each other."

As he calls out, he radiates Trust towards the woman with the pistol.

Telempathy:
The communication of emotions and basic feelings is accomplished by Telempathy. This ability serves well in the handling of animals and beasts of burden, but may also be applied as a psychological weapon against people. Sending of emotions such as love, hate, fear and others may influence other beings (although not necessarily in the manner desired). The Effect of the Telepathy check is used to judge the strength of the emotion projected.

Telempathy also allows the emotions and feelings of others to be read by the Traveller.

Other telepaths will always recognize when someone is using Telempathy to bend their emotions, but non-telepaths will not. The change in mood may be dramatic and inexplicable, but most will simply ascribe it to the mercurial nature of emotions.

Daneel moves away from his companions and towards the lights. When he is roughly halfway between them, he calls out, "Hello? My shuttle was shot down, and I'm lost. And wet."

Daneel moves to get some cover between himself and the wolf-thing. He draws his pistol and then scans the terrain near where he last saw the creature, looking for any signs of it's location.

Daneel studies the feeble maps loaded on the comm units. Is there anything about their location that can be gleaned by comparing them to the geographical features they can see?

"I haven't noticed any ponds, but...", Daneel pauses and points up into the falling rain.

Daneel takes a backpack from Jhoolz and loops it over one shoulder.

"We should definitely get away from here. After a couple of hours we can check and see if it's clear, then come back and bury the dead." He moves to the more likely exit - either the hatch or the hole in the wall - and takes a look outside.

Ears ringing, Daneel takes a deep breath and checks himself for injury. Convinced that he is just shaken up, he clicks the release on his straps and looks to see what assistance he can give to the other passengers, starting with whoever is closest.

"That so unded like weapons fire!" Daneel twists his head about,trying to figure out where it's coming from. "I think the shuttle is under attack!" He pulls out his transceiver and starts scanning for signals.

He tries to listen in to the the pilot's radio transmissions.

Daneel straps in, closes his eyes, and calms his mind. He opens a small window in his defenses then reaches his awareness out toward the cockpit.

Daneel looks around. When he is convinced that Shulgilim is, in fact, talking to him, he replies. "Business planetside. What type of sights are you hoping to see on Marduk?" Daneel pauses a moment, then holds out his hand, "Daneel Baley."

Daneel listens to Drabahn's message with the others. When it ends, he says, "Sal thinks we're trustworthy! I didn't know she cares."

"I'm not sure how excited I can get about a holiday on Marduk, but we probably shouldn't ignore a job offer that pays well."

Nemesis is disguised/broadcasting as Free Trader Beachcomber, out of Drinax.

Daneel's fingers fly over his console as he introduces little glitches into the system that could signify a failing compressor. When he is satisfied with his work, he turns to the command console, "So what's the play, Captain? Ambush them when they get close?"

Daneel looks through some of their past disguises, and instructs the holo-projectors to make the ship appear as the free trader Beachcomber. Then he goes to inspect the frontier fueling systems and to make sure everything is in working order.

"So, refuel at the system's gas giant and then continue towards Clarke? Or do we lurk in the outer system and see if we can pick off one of those far traders when they head out?"

Daneel waits for the captain to speak, then says, "Even if he tells the truth, unless his proof shows that Darokyn was responsible for the attacks at Torpal and Clarke, I don't see why we care. We don't have any grudge against Darokyn. In fact, gaining the good graces of one of the powers on Theev will probably be very useful."

After a moment, he ads, "As for Darokyn being tied to the Imperium...well, we can look into that and make use of it later down the line."

current power distribution: Holographic Hull = 100, Maneuver drive = 100 (allows up to thrust-5), Basic ship systems = 20 (essential systems only), Particle barbette = 15, Sensors = 8. That's 243/260 power in use.

Daneel pulls up the grainy video he downloaded on Blue. As the image of the raid at Torpol plays, he points at the larger of the two attacking vessels. "That's Mercifuge. Which means the ship hiding out in this gas giant is probably the far trader." He points at the smaller attacker. "She's armed to the teeth, but she's definitely in our weight class."

Daneel continues scanning through Mercifuge's navigational records to confirm she took part in the raids at Clarke and Torpol.

Do her logs match up with the attacks?

"If you want to imitate Mercifuge, head straight for the gas giant."

I don't think Daneel got access to anything that would tell me Mercifuge's capabilities, but maybe seeing the ship would have been enough for an engineer/mechanic to tell if she was capable of scooping fuel from an atmosphere?

If not, what Daneel did access was "where Mercifuge has been ever since the ship was stolen from Admiral Darrokyn". So he might be able to tell where she did fuel up, if not where she could fuel up.

Daneel blushes at how easily Jhoolz is able to put him in an awkward position - he wasn't expecting to be assaulted, though.

Voice half muffled by the bulkhead, he says, "If you can give me some pointers, that would be great. I've actually been working on hand to hand with the marines - Misty says I'm hopeless though."

Once Jhoolz releases him, he continues, "I'm happy to help you with your computer skills. Where do you want to start?"

Daneel moves next to Jerry. He crosses his arms and glowers at the thugs. He focuses on the one who appears to be the leader, and tries to trigger his flight reflex.

Daneel switches his comm to broadcast to the whole crew, "I've got what we need. Let's get out of here." He reboots the maintenance terminal, picks up his tools, and makes his way back to Nemesis.

Daneel moves toward the maintenance terminal. "I'm gonna check the air filters and see if they're showing a spike in contaminants. Don't want any alarms to get triggered."

When he gets to the terminal he tries to access Mercifuge.

Daneel shakes his head. "With the type of security this ship probably has, I'd need hours to have a chance to crack it without getting caught. Maybe we should stake the place out - see who comes and goes?" He turns to see what Jhoolz thinks, only to see her walking away, towards Mercifuge. He looks around, then hurries after her.
