CotCT GameMaestro

OK guys, I need to find someone to take over this game. With me working out again, I just don't have time to deal with this game anymore. My apologies. I'll give you guys first shot to see if one of you wants to take it over. In truth, I'll probably not GM Pathfinder again, I would play when I have time; but even when I go to cons, I never jump in PFS games, I like to play other games. Thank you guys for your time and understanding.

"No thanks Padre. I got these fancy Darkvision goggles that outta work."

I'm not finding those goggles Drakus (I can only find the Goggles of Night for 12k...and goggles, darksight for 20k)

CotCT GameMaestro

You gather your supplies, and head back to the location of the shipwreck at dawn. Your supplies meet you there. Including a priest to cast Water Breathing

CotCT GameMaestro

I got slammed with OT like crazy this week, so I'll be copying the map over this weekend, after I take care of back taxes.

CotCT GameMaestro

OK Donagar has requested permanent spells, everyone else choose your stuff this week, I'll be busy with a convention this week, but starting probably Tuesday, be prepared to hit the ground running.

CotCT GameMaestro

Again, absent for over a week, apologies. I've got to get the map together this weekend for the ship

"Hmm...a novel request, in fact, let me know what you need, and within reason, your requests will be granted. I have contacts with the Academy, I'm sure even some minor magic items can be arranged, nothing exotic mind you, as we don't have time."

You can each get 10,000gp worth of equipment you can get from the core book. You are 6th level and woefully under-equipped due to the nature of this adventure path. (max 3,500gp value of any single item)

CotCT GameMaestro

reports?

CotCT GameMaestro

Apologies, our other drafter went on 10 days vacation, been really SLAMMED!!!Go ahead and level up to 6 everyone.

Drakus and Gregor:
As Drakus is finishing at the Fire, both guardmen receive a summons to attend the Field Marshall at daybreak to break fast. It says, Bring your companions, we have much to discuss.

CotCT GameMaestro

sorry if I made it seem the torch came from inside, was pretty sure I had made it clear it came from outside...not trying to handwave things beyond your control, that much.

CotCT GameMaestro

I'm leery of the Heritage feats, and the way they stack especially with the double whammy of cloak and skin, Natural armor and DR each going up 1 for every one...too powerful. Fey Heritage maybe, but I'd prefer to see Pathfinder heritage feats.

I like undo resistance.

The PHB2 and ToB stuff all has equivalents in PF. except superior unarmed I think...though I may be wrong.

Thanks for typing those out, it definitely helped.

CotCT GameMaestro

The quick thinking of Drakus and Donagar prevent the fire from spreading beyond the building, but most of the building is gone.

[Cutscene] Vendra is released due to lack of evidence by the Silver Maidens. Vendra stands in the ashes of her establishment and vows revenge on the meddlers of the Guard and their friends, she's seen walking up to a pair of Silver Maidens, talking, crying, and shaking with fury. They escort her into the Castle.[/cutscene]

I'm aware that a some are horribly over-powered and I'm not looking at them.

** spoiler omitted **

I'll need to know which ones you'll OK,
and which 3PP you'll OK.

I'll also be adjusting her height as Ulfen and Elves are both tall.
She's the tallest one who works in the Dragon's Hoard.

You'll need to give me details, as those books are all packed away. Just an overview of what the feat does (like from the table) would be fine.

That's OK Nik'o I've been slammed at work with our other drafter gone. so we're good.

Hoping Donagar has create water prepared

Mai You would have heard the glass breaking first.

10 gallons of water versus an alcohol based fire...those DCs are going to be HUGE.

Drakus, The heat from the alcohol in the perfume pushes you back fairly quickly, paperwork, silk table runners and additional bottles shattering will have the room engulfed in flames in less than 1 minute. (This is pretty much a cut scene encounter now...and you still have evidence...in the form of the samples.)

Donagar wrote:

What is a good prestige class for me?

I am still looking at cleric for the next level, if we have down time I can craft a wand of CLW or something.

No downtime during a plague...Prestige classes kind of suck in PF...but since this won't go to 20th level, pick something you like.

CotCT GameMaestro

They would have to be very role-play oriented, not combat oriented, 3.5 books tended to be very big splat, and I'm not a big 'optimization' person.

CotCT GameMaestro

Drakus sees flames begin to engulf the perfume supply...as torch lying amidst shattered glass vials.

CotCT GameMaestro

10 minutes after the others leave, Drakus hears a crash in the back of the shop, what sounds like glass breaking...as he nears the door to investigate, the sounds of flame can be heard on the other side of the door.

Question:

Since the ARG and other new material has come out can we do some minor swapping of feats, racial traits, and traits?
also wondering about 3pp stuff.

I have ARG, so that's fine. What 3PP material?

Wait until we level up at 6th, which is coming soon.

CotCT GameMaestro

"You can take it as an admission of I want my Barrister...I'm a tax paying business woman who won't be harrased."

CotCT GameMaestro

And this encounter obviously went WAY different than it's laid out as. Worked out pretty cool I think however.

CotCT GameMaestro

Vendra squints harshly at Nik'o... "I'll take my chances in court. Brend, contact the Barrister!"

Which will bring this encounter to a close, go ahead and make any additional final actions.

CotCT GameMaestro

Nik'o Mai:
The bluff is for? Are you attempting to deceive her into thinking she's going to be freed? "I can't exactly leave the room at the moment with your friends watching over me." Yes Mai you're definitely aware of everything transpiring between them.

CotCT GameMaestro

The crowd backs out of the building, moaning nad grumbling but there's no fight in them.

Nik'o:
The wand radiates Slight enchantment

Nik'o and Mai:
"It's a wand of charm, plus I can throw in a purse of 100gold to tell them the elixir is magical."

This is getting juicy...heh, Nice perception roll Mai.

CotCT GameMaestro

The thugs both raise their arms, and say."Hey man I just work here, I don't even need this job!"

at which point Vendra's shoulders slump...

Nik'o:
Vendra whispers to you."Would you be above taking a bride? I have a wand I would give you to get me out of this..."

perception DC 24:
You hear Vendra whisper to Nik'o, something about a bribe.

CotCT GameMaestro

Nik'o spends a moment examining the contents of the vial, there's nothing magical about pleasant-smelling oily fluid.

Perception Checks or Bluff

DC21:
You notice as Nik'o is examining the Luxurious Linament, that Vendra nods to one of the two guards that are protecting the shop.

CotCT GameMaestro

HAH! I love it Gregor, telling Donagar to not say anything...perfect.

Drakus' fine military bearing causes the crowd to quiet some.

"Let me just go get the area in order for inspection...Marigal, can you get these guardsmen a sample to look at for now?"

CotCT GameMaestro

The crowd listening to the exchange between Vendra and the heroes of Korvosa, quickly begin murmuring amongst themselves, as they near rioting at the mention of charlatanism.

CotCT GameMaestro

sense motive 20+, also Gregor based upon the initial sense motive roll.:
She's definitely going to run.

perception rolls of 15+:

She seems to be sweating though it is cool outside.

CotCT GameMaestro

She seems to nervously look back and forth between Nik'o and Gregor, Yes I think we might be able to accommodate the city and come to a reasonable contract, let me just go in the back and see how the current batch is doing.

another sense motive check

also a perception check

CotCT GameMaestro

Gregor:
You're fairly certain that if you come back after closing, Vendra might not be here. Your years of guard experience tell you this.

Mai Asta Isabella:
You're fairly certain you've said something similar before disappearing permanently

Nik'o:
Seems legit.

CotCT GameMaestro

"Oh, well, of course, we can arrange that, just come by after business hours please, then we can discuss contracts."

Gregor gets distracted by the sheer number of people, probably spending their entire savings for a vial of this concoction.

You can make a sense motive check for this.

CotCT GameMaestro

Entering the Perfumery...A menagerie of heady scents twists throughout the cramped but stylish perfumery. A dizzying assortment of bottles—from gaudy ceramic containers to graceful crystalline vials—lines a variety of lace- and ribbon-strewn tables, shelves, racks, and an eye-catching display in the wide front window. Across from the front door’s orchid-tinted glass panes runs a long counter, stacked high with hundreds of simple clay phials bearing round, magenta stoppers. Behind the counter, violet flourishes swoop across a sign reading, “Lavender’s Luxuriant Liniment: Either You’ve Got It, or You’ve Had It. The shop has a line of patrons out the door, a man stands to the side looking at perfumes, while Vendra greets each new customer from behind the shop counter, leaving the actual sales to two pretty young shop girls. Two large, well-dressed men with purple cravats discreetly hold saps and keep their eyes on the shop’s patrons”

Vendra the shopkeeper looks to the party barging into the the Perfumery, as the two guards move to stop you from entering, they then hesitate as they notice how many of you there are. Several townsfolk at the entrance to the building grumble loudly at the entrance of the companions.

"Now, Now, we must all wait our turns for your Lavender's Luxurious Linament, there's plenty for all! Please step to the back of the line, and then I can help you."

I can't remember, are Drakus or Gregor still dressed as guards?"

CotCT GameMaestro

OK Kingdom Con is over, my events are done, I'll be able to update this tomorrow! Man it was a BLAST this year, lots of cool swag too.

CotCT GameMaestro

The citizens, hearing Gregor's speech, and many of them recognizing one of the heroes of the city part with no issue, giving simple access to the shop.

CotCT GameMaestro

?

I'll be watching this thread until Thursday, but then Kingdom Con hits...heh. So I'll be at a GameCon this weekend.

CotCT GameMaestro

So you are going to ignore the Gray Maiden and wait for Donagar to stop being fawned over?

CotCT GameMaestro

Maiden's Arms, that's fine...of course by the time anyone could craft a wand, the plague could be worldwide...

CotCT GameMaestro

Marra stands with Gregor, remembering her near folly at the 'execution'. As the Gray Maiden and her retinue continue down the line, the crowd quivers, a particularly sickly looking young man bolts, and the Gray Maiden takes off after him.

CotCT GameMaestro

And turned in at 42k words! Back to our irregularly scheduled program.

Donagar will be tied up with the crowd for a bit, what are the rest of you doing as the Grey Maiden and her retinue move down the line?

CotCT GameMaestro

huh, post monster struck... bummer, I'll prolly not be able to update this til later in the week, my IZ2.0 Equipment chapter is due on Friday.

CotCT GameMaestro

"Very well, dwarf, what's your name?" The grey Knight says, as the two plague doctors gather the kid from the cart.

Donagar will have a trail of peasants following him now.

Nik'o wrote:

Nik'o bites her lip, but she knows better than to give them trouble... directly that is. Retreating to hide behind her companions, she moves her hands in a rapid gesture, forming words as though her fingers were lips.

From a store behind the Grey Maiden, voices rise in fear and emergency: "Fire! Fire! Everybody out! Quick! Please! Please help!"

Ghost Sound. Hoping to distract her... Will save DC 14.

She heard it, but she didn't care...she has her mission and fires isn't one of them...

CotCT GameMaestro

The crowd begins to paw at the dwarf...begging for healing...

Donagar will have to make a new roll versus Blood Veil

The Grey Maiden sheathes her sword, grabs the woman by the hair and hurls her at Gregor...where she stumbles and falls in the mud at his feet. "Take her! And be about your business"

CotCT GameMaestro

Hmmm...good reactions thus far...

The Grey Maiden puts the blade to the woman's throat, and in a hollow voice, says"Stand back Sergeant! The woman was interfering in the Queen's Business, her son is infected, he must be removed...Interference with our business is death, you're not interfering yourself I assume?"as her voice becomes taunting, as she draws a line of blood along the woman's throat, her eyes slightly glazed as she stares into Gregor's eyes.

DM roll:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

CotCT GameMaestro

As you get near the Perfumery, it becomes apparent that you will not need directions, the line stretches nearly 4 blocks, you keep your distance being wary of the sick...and the Grey Maiden decked out in her full-plate, with 3 plague doctors, gathering the sickest from the line and shoving them into a black covered wagon.

A woman in the crowd shouts at them to stop, "We're getting the cure from the Perfumery, noooo" as she rushes the wagon, the Grey Maiden snatches the woman by the hair and pulls her to the ground, smashing her face with a gauntletted fist as she stands and pulls her long sword, the crowd shrieks and pulls back...

CotCT GameMaestro

any preparations before hitting the diseased ridden streets again?

CotCT GameMaestro

Actually finding out about Vendra is pretty easy, you spend about an hour talking to people, You hear that the woman has a cure, that the line is 2 blocks long outside of "Lavender"...While Nik'o runs into someone who knows a guy who knows a guy...

Nik'o:

nice roll...you find out lots:

Lavender, one of the better-known and noted perfume boutiques in Korvosa, stands amid a row of tightly packed shops just off of Summoning Street. Owned by an opportunistic Chelaxian woman named Vendra Loaggri, the perfumery has always had a reputation for avant garde creations and brazen promotions—infamous memories of the “Free Imp with Every Purchase” stunt still linger among residents of the Heights.

The Cure:
Lavender’s Luxuriant Liniment is the everyday elixir of the common Korvosan. It wakes you up in the morning and calms you down at night. It soothes aching joints, tired feet, sore hands, and throbbing heads. It takes the pain out of cuts, burns, bruises, and blemishes. It smells
like chastity, confidence, and respectability, and tastes like honeyed dewdrops over snow clouds. Most miraculously, though, Lavender’s Luxuriant Liniment dispels blisters, minimizes swelling, calms the complexion, and erases all symptoms of the common blood veil complaint.

You guys thought I was busy before? I'm glad I didn't make Top32, or I would have missed out writing the Equipment chapter for Interface Zero 2.0 that's coming out...bad thing is that it's 30k words in 5 weeks!!! (that's been several 2AM night already, but the line developer is pretty awesome.) Good news is...I'll be an official RPG freelancer. Woot.

CotCT GameMaestro

It was after the meeting with the Ratcatchers in the morning, So I believe you were all going to be meeting, if not then you know where each other live. Marra had stayed at the Seer's house...woke up late and is the last to arrive when meeting.

CotCT GameMaestro

As you sit pondering the situation with the wererats, you hear a loud banging on the door.

If you open it:
A plainly dressed messenger stands at the door, "I have a message for Sergeant Drakus" The messenger says with a well-educated accent"[/b] He's holding out a leather scroll-tube with Abadaran seals on either end. Open the next spoiler.

do not open unless instructed:
The letter bears a golden wax seal of The Church of Abadar. Opening the letter you read

Well met my friends, I hope the day finds you in good spirits, I've heard of your exploits at Racker's Alley, good show. On to the reason I write this letter. I have heard a woman named Vendra has discovered a cure for Blood Veil, if so we need this cure. The Church is offering 1000gold to your team to investigate this cure.
