As a slight tangent from the discussion about what shape bestiaries will take, can I ask what plans there are with regards to pawns? I very much like being able to plonk the right figure down on the table, and (although I've invested what for me is quite a lot of money) pawns are much cheaper and easier to store than figures!

I've seen the discussions about whether to continue with bestiaries as they are, or to have a super-duper launch bestiary, and so on. I think having new critters in the launch and subsequent bestiaries, as Mr Mona says will happen, is absolutely the right thing to do. However, I still want to be able to easily put down the right figure, but I don't want to have to buy a bestiary box that contains substantially the same pawns that I already have.

To that end, I'd like to make a couple of suggestions/requests. If a box of pawns is published that is substantially similar to pawns that are already out there (in one box or not), could there be an expansion pack to fill in the gaps? So, if the launch bestiary has 75% of what's in the 1E Bestiary Box 1, and has another 100 creatures that are brand new, you can buy the expansion to get the missing creatures. Then, maybe we could have the same for Bestiary Boxes, NPC Codices, and so on going forward?

There's also the issue of finding the figures you already have. Is there any chance that the new bestiaries could list which collection you can find existing pawns in? Let's say that the tikbalang is in the launch bestiary for 2E (you should totally put the tikbalang in the launch bestiary), a small note saying that it was originally in Bestiary 4, and you should look in the Bestiary Box for the figure, rather than having to look through all the lists on the back of boxes to find it.

I'm presuming and hoping that the collections that go along with the adventure paths will continue much as they are.

I really like the way the Golarion flavour and mechanics work together for the Razmiran Priest (for the sorcerer) and the Lepidstadt Investigator (for the investigator). Although it's not quite as locked to Golarion (although I assume the basis it for it was Prophets of Kalistrade), I'd go for the Silksworn occultist for the same reason.

The archaeologist bard, for the reasons given above.

The hedge witch for the (surprisingly) witch I've found makes the class, with the appropriate hexes, a useful healer in a pinch; I'm also in favour pretty much by default of anything which means someone doesn't feel obliged to be the party cleric.

I've read through the AP and the threads on here, but I must be missign something, so perhaps you could help out a GM.

What happened to the PCs to make them turn? I understand that they don't remember the past five or so years. Somehow, they made their respective ways to Thrusmoor, and there entered the service of Lowls. Something made them turn to the bad and work for Lowls for an extended period. Does anyone know what that might be, or where I should look to find it?

Thanks in advance!

Speculate wildly?

Rovagug's imprisoned in Golarion, right? Maybe he escaped, destroying Golarion, and the gods took back the pieces of Golarion, working with some technologically advanced races, and imprisoned him in the Cage V2.0. Maybe Aroden was merely sleeping, and woke up to save his city of Absalom.

There could have been an exodus through the aiudara if there had been time to prepare. Maybe Golarion had been slowly dying? If there are ships like in Spelljammers, could the aiudara have just been, well, moved? Maybe there's one on Absalom station, or there are a few just floating around.

Many congratulations to the RVCs! I'm sure they'll do a great job. It shows how much PFS has grown that they're needed.

(Could we call them Venture-Colonels?)

I was idly thinking of what I would do if I made the second round, and I had the idea of an ice dam; this is far, far better than what I had in mind. Within half a minute, I can think of a bunch of interesting adventures here. I really like this.

I've seen a couple of relatively cheap items that are really good. I think I'm actually more impressed when someone comes up with something interesting that can be appropriately priced at less than 1k.

From season 0 - Mists of Mwangi
From season 1 - Delirium's Tangle
From season 2 - Murder on the Throaty Mermaid
From season 3 - The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment
From season 4 - Way of the Kirin
From season 5 - The Paths we Choose

I've hardly played any of season 6 yet, so can't really comment on it. There are lots of other scenarios out there that I really like, but that's one from each season. Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment is probably still my favourite PFS scenario.

PRD: wrote:
You reduce the amount of uninterrupted sleep or rest creatures within the spell's area need in order to recover from injuries, regain spells, or other special abilities to 2 hours instead of the normal eight. In addition, if creatures continue to sleep or rest beyond the initial 2 hours, every additional 2 hours counts as a day of rest for the purpose of recovering hit points, ability damage, as well as for enduring diseases, poisons, or other afflictions. This means 8 total hours of sleep counts as 4 days for natural healing and for saving throws as diseases or similar afflictions run their course. When suffering from diseases, poison, or other afflictions, sleepers experience vivid dreams that help them track their recovery. If things go poorly they can, at any time, wake themselves up in order to seek a better alternative. If awoken or otherwise disturbed during this 8-hour period, creatures may return to sleep but they no longer enjoy the benefits of the accelerated recovery time. Creatures can only enjoy the benefits of this spell once in any 1-week period.

For a 100gp material component, you can rest get 8 hours' rest in two hours. Particularly when you're on the clock, this can make a huge difference, as you can probably sacrifice the two hours to go in with all your spells and abilities refreshed. It's proved handy after a particularly bruising encounter when you suspect the next encounter is not far away.

It also makes for some interesting RP when the cleric of Asmodeus starts asking the GM where you can find a small, silk pillow for 100gp and doesn't explain why.

'Lorovox' loosely translates as 'Voice of the Whip'.

Literally, it's 'voice to/for/by/with/from/in/on a leather thong', but I prefer my rendering.

I'd be interested in anyone's thoughts on my entry:

Lock of a Legend’s Hair
Aura strong universal; CL 13th
Slot none; Price 5,000 gp; Weight

Description
This appears to be a small talisman of golden, semi-transparent resin, perhaps held in a simple finding or hung on a chain. With a closer look, you can see a hank of hair inside, taken at death from a hero so great that their very name is legend. By spending a standard action concentrating on the lock and the mighty deeds of the hero who gave the hair, a character who has no mythic tiers can gain a fleeting moment of greatness.

Until the end of their next round, the character may use any item that grants extra abilities when wielded by a mythic character as if they had one mythic tier. They also gain one mythic pool point which they can use up to the end of their next round. If they do not use the point by then, it is lost. The mythic pool point can only be expended to power an item’s ability. Such abilities last for as long as they would if a character with mythic tiers had activated them.

The lock has no effect for characters with any mythic tiers. Once activated, the lock loses all power and becomes mundane and valueless other than as a curiosity.

Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, limited wish; Cost 2,500 gp

I think a few people have been taking part in RPG SuperStar for a while and are very familiar and comfortable with it. SIAC, SAK and so on are well understood. They see a lot of items that fall foul of the advice without, in their opinion, meeting the 'you can ignore the other rules if you're item is great' catch-all.

I think a new person, who's entered for the first time, could take the snark (perhaps legitimate, if the rules and advice haven't been read) not as a criticism of the item, but as a criticism of themselves. It's not hard to work out which item is being disparaged in some cases, or it could be one of a small number. It might be meant as a playful snark, but could be taken as a bit of a kick in the teeth.

The ultimate aim of RPGSS is to find new writers for Paizo, but I'd hope it's also to encourage everyone to try their hand at writing. The first time people enter, their items might well suck, but they might improve into a really good writer whose work we all enjoy and appreciate - with a little encouragement. A snarky comment might be enough to put them off trying again in future.

A few people have said this on the boards, but I think we do need to be a bit less specific in describing items we've seen and a bit more forgiving of mistakes.

Is it me, or is there a lot of grossness this year? Various bodily parts that have been removed and then had ingenious uses found for them?

I've just had a pair come up twice in a row, but in the other order the second time, suggesting that the order of pairs does matter.

Following on from Ziv:

If we say there are one thousand items, there are 499,500 pair combinations. Assuming that no pairs will be repeated until all pairs have been presented and, iirc, that there were about half a million votes last year, it seems that very few, if any, pairs will be repeated. If we take out the bottom 25%, there are still 280,875 pair combinations.
