"Killing Black Magga."
This was years ago, and I don't remember what type of flask was tossed, but our group actually killed her quite handily. That is, I should say, our Alchemist killed her quite easily. All touch attacks.

It sounds like there is a new Meta Magic feat called Vast. I believe the source is "Pathfinder Player Companion: Magic Tactics Toolbox".
(Blush)
Thanks. And thanks very much for sharing the link.
Yeah, I'm aware.
Sorry, I should have been more precise. She is building it on Chopper Isle, but is harvesting what stone she can. Much of it she is harvesting from the bottom of the ocean from the toppled tower.
I made a website to show-off and sell my ceramics.
I use lots of Dragons and Spikes in their motifs. All are thrown and carved by me.

A white dragon does not suffer any penalties to Perception checks while in snow."
In Sandpoint, there is a fallen tower. I've had a mage come up with the idea to Planar Summon Elementals to gather stone so she can build a mage tower.
Also, is there already a resource of published data about this?
Anyone have any good ideas about what attributes Thessalonian stone could lend to a structure being built?
Ideas I've had:
-A reduction of cost to enchant the building. ie: warded against scrying.
-resistance to aging. (Obviously)
So, our party has an ally that has SR. Unless the ally uses a standard action to lower his SR, we must beat his SR to cast a friendly spell upon him. Is there an item or spell that allows friendly spells to automatically defeat SR?
Is there a meta-magic feat or any other way to increase this range.
For example, Haste; all allies must be within 30' of each-other. Is there a way to increase that area?
I am not finding a map for the route to Jorgenfist. Is it only a description in the adventure or am I simply not finding the map?
My group is playing "Way of the Wicked" (Awesome game btw!) and we have managed to procure Nightmares as mounts. I wonder if the rider should be required to have some sort of protection fire also?
"Fire spurts from its hair and nostrils."
Is it correct or is this an oversight?
My brother and I are looking for a mature DM with solid story telling skills. (By mature we don't mean age but in attitude.) We hope to play once a week, or twice a month. We currently play Pathfinder, but would be open to pretty much any system.
If interested, please send a private message to exchange e-mail.
I'm running my crew through Fort Rannick. I see there is a map to Lurkwood. Can anyone point to a good resource for this place ?
Anyone have any advice as to how to decrease the miss-cast chance of a scroll.
The caster is 3 levels lower than the caster level of the scroll. I believe that's only a 15% miss-chance. But it would still be an expensive failure so I'd rather better my odds. (Does the scroll get wasted if the casting fails?)
Helcack, THAT was "creative"!
Lol
Black Lantern, we have a 15% chance of caster failure, I look into who has the best UMD. Good idea, thx.
Has this been addressed yet? A dagger is both slashing and piercing but a short sword is only piercing?
We are 14th lv.
We are bringing an army to attack a gate and want to have as much surprise as possible. The area would need to be about 200' across.
My party has a need to create a large bank of fog. We only have Wizards and Clerics. The normal fog spells aren't big enough. I know about the Control Weather spell but it is a higher level than the party so there is a miss chance if we buy a scroll.
Anyone out there have a great idea?
Hunter? What book, what page?
A character of mine has a hawk and it would be awesome to scout with it.
True.
This is a valid danger in mills both grain silos and wood mills.
Really? What are the other paths? Does she play an important role or still a side character?

One of my player's character died in the campaign and he liked the character of Shalelu and asked if he could play her. I allowed it. This is a quick history of the Ranger Shalelu I wrote up for him. I thought I'd share it in case anyone else ends up playing her. This mostly comes from the book except the bit about who her biological father is. Sorry about any punctuation or spelling errors, and any tense mistakes. If anyone wants to Edit it I will NOT be offended.
Shalelu
You were born in a small elven village named Crying Leaf in the Mierani Forest. You were raised by your mother Seanthia, a priestess of Desna. Your father, you were told, was a traveler named Bellengos. He was an elf from the south who passed through the village, stayed for 6 months, then left. Your mother tried to contact him to tell him he has a child, but she was never answered.
In your early teens, your village was plagued by Ettercaps who were controlled by a Green Dragon. A party of human adventurers passing through took up the fight and defeated the Ettercaps, but were all slain except for one, a ranger named Jakardros Sovark. Your mother nursed the human back to health. He was young, impulsive, and quickly fell in love with your mother, and she him. You found this strange as your mother was a rather sober personality and the young human’s exuberance seemed not to fit. But soon, he was part of your daily life. He moved into your home and became the only father figure you ever knew.
Three years later the Green Dragon came back; a great beast of fury and vengeance. With Jakardros’s aid, the Dragon was again defeated, but at the cost of your mother’s death. Your last memory of him is the two of you, on your knees at the body of your mother; your mourning a quiet, disbelieving, hollow pain; his a keening howl of fury.
Jakardros left Crying Tree that night without a word leaving you to tend to your mother’s burial alone.
You lived in Crying Tree till you came of age then left and took up the solitary life you now lead. Something about the Varisian Coast attracted you. You adopted the region of Sandpoint as a base and soon became the bane of the Goblin tribes that plagued the region. Too you earned an enemy. A hobgoblin named Bruthazmus whom you fought many battles, each wounding the other and built a hate for each other.
Then Sandpoint itself was attacked by the goblins tribes; a very bold and unlikely cooperation between the war-like tribes. The city was truly saved by a group of travelers who happened to be in town. Hemlock asked you to speak with the group as they offered to help Sandpoint with their goblin problem. On this same day, you heard from your friend Amiko, that a ranger staying in the Inn mentioned a Jakardros of the Black Arrows at Fort Rannick. You were touched be the concern in her eyes when she told you. When questioned, all Amiko heard was the name mentioned. You found and questioned the man and learned that Jakardros has served with the Black Arrows for years and is now the second in command at Fort Rannick.
Burning to confront him and to ask the questions that have been in your heart for years, you plan on paying a visit to Fort Rannick and its second in command as soon as you solved the mystery of the strange co-operation of the goblins of Sandpoint.
THE BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND DMs.
Yes, I did have a large scale volunteer fire brigade show as soon as the flames became visible.
As per the maps i could find, the lumber mill seems to be separated from other buildings. I gave a 10% chance that prevailing winds were strong enough to spread the fire, they were not. I wanted there to be a chance that the party's actions may have caused a huge city fire and the possibility that they kill more innocents than the Skin-saw cult. Consequence to action.
I stressed the fear of the city towns folk as fire in a mid-evil town is a massive threat to life and property.
I didn't think to have city mages show and begin to summon water elementals. I think I'll do a retro on that next game.

THE BEST LAID PLANS OF MICE AND DMs.
I know this is an old post, but I just gotta share!
Here is the shenanigans the party I'm DMing committed.
Hemlock sends the pcs with a voucher to Justice Ironbriar for the 300g bounty for the head of the bandit found in the caves below the Misgivings. (Evil DM thinks the party should meet their foe face to face before the inevitable TPK)
Party is given a Warrant to investigate the Foxglove Townhouse by Ironbriar.
Victorious party reports back to Ironbriar of new evidence found implicating a place called The Seven's Sawmill! Ironbriar deputizes pcs and sends them with four hand-picked City Watch to "Help" them. Once the party leaves, Ironbriar hastens to the sawmill. (Evil DM smiles behind his screen at his deviousness.)
Party handily beats the ambush. Party finds the ledger, sends the Raven out with a message written in Ironbriar's handwritting (linguistics check) saying "the Sandpoint troublemakers are dead", a raven returns with a note saying "excellent, bring me their magic."
Having just slain one of Magnimar's most powerful and influential people, party panics and they burn down the sawmill to cover their deed! (Poor DM drowns himself in the toilet bowl.)
Xaneesha, seeing the sawmill burning, knows something is awry. She attempts to contact Ironbriar and finds him unable to answer and realized he is dead.
Xaneesha, who knows of the party's presence from Ironbriar's report on them killing the faceless stalkers in the Foxglove manor, sends out assassins to kill the party members. Assassins fail.
Xaneesha then sends out her new spy, a Quasit named Erylium who has a special hatred for the party having eluded death at their hands no less then three times, to frame the party with the murder of Justice Ironbriar.
Erylium charms a city guard lieutenant and tells him of the murder and where to find the culprit.
Party wakes up to find 50 watch, 5 flying mages, and the captain of the guard at their door in dark hours of the morning.
Party is immediately taken to the Pediment Building where they face an emergency meeting of the 12 remaining Justicars intent on their punishment for daring to slay a Magnimar ruler. (Poor, but still evil, DM spends no small amount of time creating the complete Justice Council including a relatively poor Tommy Lee Jones Justice impersonation.)
With truth magic, party proves their guild of slaying Ironbriar , but are exonerated because it was self-defense. Indeed, they are commended and tasked to follow up on their lead at the old clock tower. And because one their fellow Justices, under their own noses has been committing such heinous crimes, a full scale inquisition of all Justices is held and two Justices find themselves in early retirement!

Your honor, I rest my case. There is enough room for interpretation, there are enough people with different opinions that we should FAQ this and ask nicely for PAIZO to make a ruling on this and hopefully re-write it in the next reprinting of the Core Rule Book.
Please FAQ this thread all.
Thx
Ok, Thanks for all your input everyone!
So, shall we FAQ this? Over-all, we all seem to agree, but there are a few DMs who don't.
In our case, we are using them as heat in a stone castle and not all the rooms have chimneys, so we were womdering if the campfire smokes the place out.
Our group recently had this discussion recently and we think it does, but I'd be interested in hearing other point of views.
First, thanks to all for taking up this subject again. I really admire many of you guy's (gal's) ability to really break the rules down to their core meanings.
This is how the other conversations about this subject have gone. Pretty much everyone essentially agrees that the Dust is no longer floating in the air, but surfaces w/in the AoE are coated and blinded (if they failed their save) for the duration. A few people have had their DM have a cloud of Glitter hanging about for the duration though and the subject came up the other day in a game i was playing in. We interpreted the spell the same way most of us have here, but it made me curious to try and get a final ruling. So....
to reiterate the question, has anyone seen an "Official" ruling by Paizo?

I have read through several different posts about Glitter dust. The ruling I was looking for was if glitter continues to affect the area for the duration, or is the glitter simply instant and the duration is only for the Blindness effect.
I believe it's been answered: That dust is an instant affect, and the blindness is the duration affect.
Does anyone know if Paizo officially made a ruling on this?
I've done several searches on the message boards and haven't seen a thread for this. (Sorry if there is and I didn't see it.)
Is there an Evil version? I'd expect it to be called "Weapon Against Good".
Brilliant idea Magda L. Bummer about the spell effects dispelling when the summoned critter leaves. Still a great choice to use if fight is going bad and the party needs some bolstering.
Thanks for the rule knowledge and the clarification Aeric and Emmit.
I think you hit it on the head Sadurian and Archmagi. Ultimately, you can't beat a dedicated healer.
I'd love to see that too. If you ever find such a list, please post it!
Errr,
Not sure what you are telling me Phoenixx. Would you mind elaborating please?
Check these out. My group got them. Over-all they are great! A little plain and four to a page, but the best option I've found thus-far.
Player's Aid II: Monster Summoning Cards (PFRPG) PDF
You can find them in Paizo's store.
We wish they'd make them into cards like the Critical Hit Cards.
Nice examples. Level-wise though those are long way off for lower level.
Anyone have house rules that allow something different?
ie: Summon 3rd lv. Goblin Oracle or .....?
Hmm, bummer. I was hoping there was some critter that is in some little know resource i could use. That way i could focus on buffs and debuffs.
Anyone have a cleric who wants to volunteer to be my own personal summoned healing monster?
One of my characters is a support mage. The party he is in doesn't really have a full-time healer. Is there a creature he can summon in that can heal? (Maybe even summon it in and hand it a wand?)
He is only lv. 5 so I'm pretty sure "not yet" is the answer, but how about in the future?
I almost always have Aspect of the Hawk on, so don't need to cast Keen, but yeah, Flame Arrow would be awesome!

This is how my ranger gained her animal companion.
Sister Wolf
As we leave the goblin’s domain, I spot two wolf b~!+~es; magnificent creatures. They watch us from the shadows of a ledge. I can only just make them out. I have always admired the wolf. They are a dangerous and beautiful animal, intensely loyal to their pack, yet eminently capable alone. I hope they feast upon any stray goblin they come across. I do not tell the rest of my party of their presence. I trust them with my life, but I do not know them well enough to trust them with the lives of these beautiful creatures.
We travel till night and set up camp. We eat a quick meal of hard biscuits and goats milk and immediately fall asleep.
I awake, my heart thunders in my chest and tears wet my cheeks. I have just had an intense dream. My secret wolves hung up in trees, their blood black in the moonlight. Though I do not know why, I know I must seek them. Perhaps it is the will of Erastil that drives me. My will is not my own. Silently I leave the Temple grounds and race into the night. These are dangerous lands. I should not be alone. Yet go I must.
It is a clear night and the moon shines her silver caress over the forest. The shadows are deep and fill my heart with terror. What is this? I have never felt this way before. I have always felt more at home in the forest than in the confines of any city save Iadara. What is it I fear?
Without the burden of the others, I swiftly reach the Goblin’s domain. I pick up the wolfs’ tracks where I last saw them. Arrow nocked, I silently begin to track them; my terror builds. This is no condition to hunt in. Mentor Kaerdyn would frown and order me back into the safety of the city’s walls. She could see his scarred face, his stern blue eyes, his quiet flat voice as he taught, “Emotionless you must track your quarry. You must lose yourself in the heartbeat of every moment, for in hate or fear, your emotion will betray you. This will be the death of the very thing you seek to protect.”
I stop in the moon shadow of a great oak and try to calm myself. should go back. Even as I see and hear Mentor Kaerdyn ordering me back in my mind's eye, I know I can not. Breathing slow and intentionally, I focus my will and try to drive this fear into a corner where I can not see or feel it. I focus my senses to the night forest. I must see it, smell it, become one with it and know all its subtle movement and sense all that is danger and let this fear breathe past like dandelion seeds.
Better; I feel calmer. I can feel the fear pacing back behind my eyes, but it no longer dominates. It is not perfect, but a state near to that which my Mentor would approve. It is good enough. I begin to follow the tracks again. They are fresh. I suspect the wolves spent the day in the shadow of the ledge and then crept out with the setting of the sun to hunt.
I continue to track them. Within minutes I hear them; or perhaps one of them. There, behind that thick brush, I can hear harsh panting, something is not right. I creep around and find both wolves sprawled out on the ground. Both have a thick froth coating their muzzles, their jaws wide and swollen tongues lolling out. Neither wolf is conscious. On the ground is a leg of a deer, tied to a stake in the ground with a poorly made rope. The leg has been savaged by the wolves. Poison. In a panic I rush to the wolves, my fear braking past my controls again. This was what my fear had been. Fear for the wolves, not for herself. “No. No. No.” I hear myself moan.
Dead, one is already dead. Tears stream from my eyes. The other, the larger of the two is not far from death. Its labored breathing is shallow and harsh. I clear the froth from its muzzle and angle its neck to improve airflow. Its coat is a deep grey, almost black. Her sister is identical. "Twins." a strange and detached voice inside says and fresh tears course down my face. “Erastil, why have you shown me this?” I moan to the forest and bury my face in the wolf’s coat. I scour my memories for a way to help the wolf. All rangers train to defend the Elven capitol are trained in rudimentary healing, but poisons were barely touched upon. Silently I prayed to Erastil to help, to help me help this wolf. I bury my hands into its deep coat and will the poison to leave its body.
A blue light glows where my hands touch the wolf’s body. Has Erastil answered her? Sobbing I pressed my hands to the wolf and move them to its stomach and up to its throat and tongue. Slowly, the wolf’s breathing improves. The wolf will live! Quickly I move to the other wolf. I place my hands upon it as I did the other and will the poison gone. Nothing; the glow does not come and no breath of life comes to the dead beast.
I hang my head; and cry for a short time. But I fell purged, at peace. Life and death, the great circle; I have seen great wonder and tragedy this night. I move to the living wolf and am thankful she is unconscious. Her breathing is no stronger than when last checked. A shadow of fear rises again. Perhaps Erastil has not given her the power to heal the wolf, just to slow the poison from spreading? “I will not let this wolf die!” I growl to the forest.
I began to pick up the wolf; then an intuition stays me. I draw my knife and cut a large handful of long fur from the dead sister’s neck scruff. I will use this to help this daughter of Erastil calm. I stuff the fur into a pouch and lean down to lift the wolf. The wolf is heavy, but not yet fully grown. I can feel the weak heartbeat and use it to march by. It will be a long and difficult walk back to the abbey, but there I can get help for this creature; for my sister.
Sad news, my ranger's friend and brave companion Kai died while defending the party from undead hill giants. A wolf should die out in the forests under the moon and stars, not in a dang cave to be consumed by the mindless dead.
Wow,
Thanks again for all the work guys. I hope it didn't take you all forever to do the math there. You guys/gals rock!
