I am sorry if my confusion caused things to "fall apart" but if Ray is a local to your area I would love to play a single scenario while we are there next month if everyone has a night to do that. Maybe Erin would get into it and we could plan an evening when we could play. I have never used the site Mark referenced but others I know like it and even without the map we might be able to skype an evenings game. I actually don't want to give up on this as I think what we have started would be fun but we need a common language. BTW (by the way) I do not speak Taldane so Mark and I were not talking about the game. :)

SO if and when people speak can it be a little clearer what is spoken in what language so I know what I can understand. I now am not sure I really understood John’s comment about me joining the group. I also guess that Pezock just ignored me. So was John talking in what language? Did I understand it?

As I leave I turn with a slight bow to Pezock and say in elvish: At I speak I use hand gestures in a very theatrical way to emphasize each point I make.
"My name is Ms.Adventure. It has been my greatest fortune to have met you oh wise and wondrous Pezock. Thank you for your kind hospitality within your magnificent dwelling which you so graciously offered to this raggedy group from the fierce ravages of the storm. We have little to offer in gratitude for you generosity; however, as you spoke of cannibalistic concerns; we may be able to make this a safer place for us all, were you to, in your infinite wisdom provide any morsels of information on which direction these cannibals may regularly camp. If you decline to respond to this humble request I respectfully ask your forgiveness for my presumptions behavior and gratefully bid you fair thee well. “ which may make comprehension with a scene motive easier to see though I am faltering I am in earnest with my gratitude and seeking information
If there is any question of our being a part of the group and allowed into the shelter or any objection about my dog being allowed in to the shelter with me.
In elvish speaking soothingly sing-song fashion: “we mean you no harm; just want out of the storm. The wind and the rain; they are truly a pain. When calm is the sky we will say our good-buy we’ll go from your place without leaving a trace Though we have little food we’d share it with you If we knew what you’d eat (softly more to myself) just don’t let it be meat.”
I attempt to comprehend her dance meaning.
I will follow the group holding my dog by the collar so he stays close.
I have become concerned about the bad weather. If I understood the dance I will move quickly to join the others. If I did not understand the request then I will move more cautiously. We make no threatening moves but we are both on our guard.

GM:
From my concealed vantage point, do I see anyone who might be casting a spell? Do I see any other non-party member in the area? IF I SEE NOTHING:
I wait concealed, ready to spring out and block any attack with my long sword drawn. Saying loudly in elvish "Stop! We mean you no harm!" and if they stop or do not attack then I put my sword very dramatically back into it's sheath but stand with my head up, chest out, arms slightly akimbo with my hand still on the hilt looking away almost as if this were a "kodak moment", but otherwise ready to defend myself and the party. IF I SEE SOMETHING: If I see any strangers that are concealing themselves or my party hasn't seen; I'll cast dancing lights and put one light 3 feet over the heads of each person I see up to four in a 10 foot radius. If I see more than four I target the spell caster, if I can tell who that is, followed by the most concealed to the most heavily armed. These lights will look like bright green diamonds or ten sided dice resting on their points; though the light radiated is normal in color. IF THERE IS A Surprise Round where both sides stare at one another; I'll jump out and do my dramatic we mean you no harm bit. saying it in elvish and Hallit
I look around to see where everyone is and try to make a mental note of who is or has been talking to who. To Mystwalkur
speaking Elvish:
Do you mean that guy in the cloak might have a pet squid? That would explain his playing in the water after we landed. I have no proof but there is something very different about him. Do you know if anyone can actually talk to him? I frown and look up to the sky toward the jungle. speaking Elvish:
With any luck the guy with the horse might know if the carnivorous birds are only jungle dwelling or if they might venture to the beach, but you may want to keep you Shadow close. I look a little agitated as if we were speaking about an approaching danger and move so we can keep talking but I can look toward the south-west. speaking Elvish:
If there are humans approaching from the South-West we need to either put up early warning devices or snares if there is time. Do you know how many, how far; how many hours away they are? Have you told anyone else? Aerys seems elvish and can speak to the guy with a horse, can you talk to anyone else? Whoever is coming we need to be prepared for hostile company. I'm good with my bow and long sword; and can inspire friends in a fight as long as they can hear me. I look very determined as I look toward the south west with a concerned and searching gaze. If we are speaking about an approaching danger it is likely coming from that direction. Again my gaze scans our little group of cast-a-ways; though this time with an evaluating gaze; sizing up each one for capabilities in a fight. When my gaze reaches Brown Deer my expression changes from evaluating to a combination of a sad, protective question. She's on her own, far from home, what is it that she can do? I turn and look toward the south west searching the jungle. Animal handling 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
speaking Hallit to Simon: Watch
I am getting confused as to what is happening when. If Mystwalkur talked to me (the conversation I just replied to this evening) before being asked to the lean-to (which posted on Monday?) and as the GM made Brown Deer's body language clear that I was NOT invited into the lean-to. It is very hard to read body language in text but it is easy enough to follow but walk on by then go between the tent and the lean-to when Rokko returns (post today) offering the food. I do not remember any one say there was a rescue ship visible. If a spoiler lists Ms.A, or a language I speak and a location I am I'll read it otherwise do not assume I am aware of any of that information Please let me know If there is any food offered to me. If there is I will accept what is offered, look at it closely so I might be able to identify it and share what food I get with my dog. Unless specifically invited I will stay off to the side out of the way using what natural shelter I can for shade and protection from rain if it starts.
Mystwalkur wrote: if the aft portion of the shop is still above water then it may be a good idea to swim out and see what can be salvaged, maybe a water barrel survived, of course who ever goes may be eaten by something really big and hungry I will send shadow up as high as he can go to see as far inland as we can. What if any information do I pick up? Speaking in elvish in reply to Mystwalkur: I unfortunately am unable to swim; to which I am rather mystified, though pleased at my survival.
If we intend to bring any quantity supplies ashore it would be best if we fashioned a raft or a way to float things to the beach. Less time in the water is less chance to be eaten.

I move to speak with Mystwalkur in elvish: I smile in a rather apologetic way.
I am very pleased to meet you Mystwalkur and your fine feathered friend. This is my companion and guard (dog) Simon. Together we travel; guard and take care; watch after each other, so brigands beware. … sorry I sometime just wax poetic. That one I think needed more polish. I put my reply in the spoiler format as there was a point made that there is no common language; so not everyone knows everyone's language nor is everyone privy to every conversation.
I guess I'm confused. Mystwalkur said it was not safe here to "An Elf" you asked which one. there was no reply to that yet. So as you were calling me an elf I said if he was talking to me what I'd do. but if there are two other Elves then I go sit off to myself. As to "as many ways to say thank-you as I'd know"; personally as a child I could say thank you in six languages I could not speak. Also out of High school I could sing songs in Latin, Spanish, French Italian, German, and there is "skatt" (however it is spelled) which is singing that is language independent. I guess I am just too use to the real old school DnD Bard who has the ability to comprehend languages without a spell. If I had know there were this many differences with pathfinder bard; maybe I should have picked something I am not so familiar with. Sorry I never played the text based MMOs nor do I Blog or did I even look into how this posting game thing works. I guess I have a steeper learning curve than I thought I would.
If Evan offered me a portion of food I accept it and thank him the every language that I might know the word for thanks in. I share the food and water with my dog. If Mystwalkur was speaking to Ms.A (the Half-Elf) I will move to the edge of the lean-to, believing it to be an invitation of sorts. IF Mystwalkur was NOT speaking to me then I will move to between the Lean-to and the tent as I was not invited into either. Also, as I “did not find an audience on ship” I assume no one is particularly friendly. I also want to be able to have room to escape as I will fight if anyone tries to eat my dog.
Check my belonging to make sure I have my bow & arrows, sword and food for my dog. What time of year is it. other than now being wet is it cold? If it is cold has anyone made a fire? If there is no fire and not particularly cold Then find a sheltered place or thicket off of the open beach where my dog and I can hide.
Oh I just looked at the game and I have no idea how to post what. when is mark really talking or doing or what should I really know? (other than not reading the spoilers) I think I need some BLOGGING 101 classes. Also the reason this is being posted soonish after the one above is because I lost the original stuff I typed and the second attempt to post too.
I will be sending you a new PDF of Ms.A. Please note she is A HALF_ELF; not an elf. I made several changes as performance Oratory is not a good choice as there must be a common language for that to work. So I changed to Sing which is like any musical not dependent on language. The PDF I will send to you through FB. Still working on where I'm from but I am in search of my parents and am only passing through Chelax. I don't like too much evil all in one place it is too out of balance. one of the next ports has a large half-elf population where I my want to look into birth records. I know that it takes a human and an elf to make a half-elf but Ms.A only has an int of 10 :) |
