You sir must not have fought at Nerosyan at the Siege of Diamond City. It didn't seem to come on slow to those of us who were there.

One minute we were sitting around discussing Wayfinders and the life of the Murderhobo, and the next we're fighting for our very lives against the hordes of demondom!

CMIX has seen some crap my friend, oh yes. Brave Pathfinders torn limb from limb, and then eaten.

There is a laser pistol available for purchase in at least one chronicle sheet. That said, the weapon in question has extremely limited uses and is pretty expensive. They exist, but I don't expect to see much of them on PC sheets.

Yeah there is! CMIX blast a bad guy with it during the scenario even, despite the -4 proficiency penalty even!

Is it just me, or did a lot of people show up to Bonekeep with only pregens?

They always do, and your odds of getting in like that are somewhere between slim and none.

Anyways, that was quite exciting. Are they running it at other Cons?

We did it at 8/9, and I won't say it was easy, but it felt easier than 1 and 2 were.

We burned through some consumables though, I'll tell you that. The bonus boons and items made up for it though!

Yes, the more I thought about it the more I liked the flavor of the urban ranger, and I think for this setting it is more appropriate than a monk. This is the basic character build, but I haven't quite finished the mundane equipment purchasing yet. Thank you for your advice.

@CMIX: Another classic post. I gotta do a pbp with you sometime, hah.

Well, see here the thing. CMIX only allowed to do PFS with Old Dominion friends! However, handler of CMIX have other friends: Branson, Milton, and Parsnip who could be convinced to get involved in a PbP, as long as the PbP was done, or suspended, in time for GenCon.

@Vamptastic: You forgot to mention throwing hammers.

@Imbicatus: I hadn't considered it. I do like overcoming the shoddy movement speed. I'll look into it. You don't have a proposed build by chance?

Is true CMIX move faster than dwarf, but CMIX rarely move more than 5' in a round. This true even before CMIX get +6 BAB, because Rapid Shot also not allow you get Move action.

Only time is problem really maybe, is if there is guys to run down, or run from. Luckily, Longstrider is Ranger spell!

Probably for dwarf, is more likely need run from guys instead of run down guys, but YMMV.

I know severely dumping a stat is usually frowned upon in the pbp forums, but thanks for the suggestion DMW.

And CMIX. A witty post indeed. You don't want to hear about what my dwarf thinks of orcs, it would probably result in a fight. :)

CMIX really is nice guy, except to slavers, so tell away, CMIX not start fight.

On plus side, if dwarf choose humans as favored enemies, you get bonus against horcs like CMIX and also against weakling helfs too! In PFS, you get bonuses against aasimar and tiefling, so that is nice.

Liberty's Edge

CMIX feels need to add that dwarves are short, they smell funny, and are slow.

Greetings, CMIX is a Horc Urban Ranger. CMIX name is pronounce like Kah-mix. Full stat block for CMIX is located in his profile.

CMIX is Pathfinder, and plays in Pathfinder Society games

First, CMIX want to say that he very impress with Urban Ranger archetype and switch hitter style. It leave him most of normal ranger combat stuff, but also give useful urban stuff, and thiefy abilities.

If you are play a campaign in much cities, Urban Ranger is good, cuz it helps you excel at be urban.

Next, CMIX is switch hitter. CMIX is only spend feats on bow stuff. It is always CMIX first plan to shooty shooty things. But, sometimes bad guys get right up on CMIX, and doing 5 foot shuffle is not an option. At those times, CMIX is forced to pull out Masterwork Cold Iron Big Whacky Thing! It is very large axe that does awesome damage, especially when CMIX get critical hit. Remember, CMIX real plan is shoot bow, not use MWCIBWT.

Currently, CMIX has favored enemy human and evil outsider. Human is easy choice, CMIX is metagamer he suppose. Evil outsider is good choice for Season 5 of PFS scenarios, and really why not anyways, right?

CMIX has Absalom as favored community. Also good choice for PFS. Not sure what CMIX will choose at level 8 yet.

CMIX has standard shooty shooty feats, and at level 7, he will choose Clustered Shots, and no longer carry dozen different types of arrows.

CMIX has magic quiver, and plans for several bows with Bane on them (probably each for different types of monster). Bane is just amazing, and CMIX like extra +2 and 2d6 damage!

CMIX regularly adventures with same group of Pathfinders called "Old Dominion." CMIX is responsible for regular damage both near and far, chasing, climbing, stealthing, and thiefy stuff.

In conclusion, CMIX is Urban Ranger switch hitter, and he very happy with it.

Maybe CMIX need new meat shield adventuring companion? Recently CMIX end up in melee more often that he like, so consider something that is big and dumb (even by CMIX standards), to keep bad guys from getting to CMIX.
Well I did have this great character idea for a dual scimitar wielding drow with a cat pet....

Except for part about Drow being illegal, CMIX think is excellent and original idea!

CMIX remembers you! Weren't you crappy druid that carry body of CMIX out after CMIX die horrible death to ghoul in stupid dungeon place? Then you help CMIX afford be alive again and not have negative levels? All because crappy Paladin not show up for adventure at Pathfinder Lodge on time, spending time with girlfriend (now wife) and kid (now stepkid?)

CMIX remember maybe you not so crappy as you think, but understand if you want to declare victory and be new character.

CMIX recommend something able to heal and keep CMIX alive! Also, CMIX recommend someone with good social skills, able to join Andoran faction and help CMIX accomplish faction goals, because they very hard for CMIX, if goal involves talky talky. Of course, it seem ever since Gencon, missions get easier, because now CMIX not have special mission to do, but more like enhanced group mission. It strange. CMIX used to the Major asking CMIX do strange stuff. Anyways...

CMIX choose Evil Outsiders, because is year of Demon, go figure. CMIX is meta gamer.

CMIX have much luck so far with Humans and Evil Outsiders as choices.

I had someone hand me a random Taco Bell burrito at a game after I'd just come from a long run of #5-03: The Hellknight's Feast. I needed to eat desperately, but rather than have everyone wait for me to go get some brats, he just gave me his burrito. Lifesaver!

Dude, did we run you over and cause you to almost miss a meal?

Beer is on me next year, or a burger if you prefer.

Hey, if this is about that farmer, I totally thought he was a demon.

A full round of arrows from a ranger with favored enemy human (+4) does them in pretty quickly as well. Sad, very sad.

Oh well, NEXT!

I'm disappointed. Like Kevin Sorbo disappointed. It took me 3 rounds in this year's Gen Con Special to kill Joe Caubo's character. To be fair, it was also only 28 minutes into the start of the scenario as well.

Yes, CMIX too lose valiant friend at Bonekeep 2, in the very first room, this year. Brave brave Dog die mercilessly at hands of, well, at hands of fireball launched by party wizard, who had no choice, and no way of knowing Dog was in line of fire. Luckily, due to oddities of Pathfinder Society Rules, character death is costly, but loss of animal companion is easily remedied by replace with Dog too in very next adventure!

Anyway, great con, great people. Nani Pratt seemed to be an awesome GM even though she didnt kill my crew in the Waking Rune.

We had her for Bonekeep 2 on Satuday night, and she was phenomenal! She knew the rules stone cold, but when posed with a corner case of sorts, she'd make a quick ruling and we'd all press on. She played the dungeon well, and I hope enjoyed us as much as we did her. Not a lot of "role playing" to be had in Bonekeep, so we didn't see that side of her, but I suspect she can do it with the best (like Andrew).

Get Andrew to run it for you, you'll thank me for the advice.

With a little luck, our full time 6th player will make it to GENCON next year, but when we do alts, I'd love to play something with you!

I can introduce you to Milton Smithson who in another thread I apologized to some Canadians for his being a bit of an @$$. What can I say, his Charisma is 5, and he is a Chelaxian Oni-Spawn "Paladin" of Asmodeus?

  • The table of players who played at my 5-03: The Hellknight’s Feast table were absolutely fantastic. I don’t remember the player’s names, but the characters were Cmix, Captain Lawson, Condign, Dominas, and a couple others I can’t remember off the top of my head. You guys rock! ** spoiler omitted **...
  • I am exceptionally pleased that we stood out in your memory, as you definitely stood out in ours.

We are "Old Dominion" and our characters are:

    CMIX:
So named for his former slave number 909 in roman numerals tattooed on his arm by his captors. Horc Urban Ranger and First Mate of the Prodigal Son

    Captain Lawson:
Human Admixture Wizard extraordinaire, former Lantern Lodge member, now converted to Andoran by his First Mate, Captain of the Prodigal Son

    Condign:
Dwarf Monk (of some obscure archetype that escapes my memory), awesome grappler, and man of few words

    Dominas:
Human Womanizing Cleric of Calistria, who carries a long whip and disarms bad guys and ladies just as effectively. Also called "Bootlicker" by CMIX due to some events early in their careers.

    Kreshid:
Human Paladin of Sarenrae, smiter of evils, taker of damage, and dropper of swords when he needs them most

Our 6th member was played by a guy named Bryan, who we were trying to get levelled up to join us for Bonekeep 2, but his main was too low, so he played the Gunfighter Iconic.

Please note that my review of The Hellknight's Feast done under the name Zahir was surely influenced by your awesome GMing for us! You made the module great to play. The voices, the characters, it was awesome.

It was incredibly uncomfortable watching you and Mike making googly eyes at each other across the table. I'm glad you weren't next to each other, but really, guys GET A ROOM!

CMIX and Captain Lawson also loved meeting Major Colson!!!

    How very Chelaxian of you!

Puhleese, is a very big difference here. In Cheliax, mistress goes to laundromat, even if she not want to, in Andoran, is mistress choosing to go to laundromat!

For CMIX (kah-mix), name is important. Name defines entire character of CMIX. Tells where CMIX come from, and tells why he fight.

CMIX not know given name anyways, so CMIX is just CMIX.

    Other Characters:
Most of my characters have a well thought out name, that goes with the character and are named before the character is designed, Zahir, Thistle, etc. On others, I have the character concept, and then develop the name, Milton, the Tiefling Inquisitor of Asmodeus is an example of this.
