To the team at Paizo, and the RPGSS community-at-large,
As we have all seen and heard, the beloved spectacle that is the annual RPG Superstar contest has been put on an indeterminate hiatus. It is my understanding that many here in the community are taken aback as their potential contest entries must be set aside for the time being.
Now, if there is one thing I've gleaned from my time interacting with this contest and its contestants, it is that there is a geyser of creativity that is always set to burst forth the moment the open call submission form went online. Lengthy voting periods brought the community together to vote, laugh, mingle, and (Most importantly) learn.
I am by no means an expert, but in the two years I entered and participated, I saw some absolutely incredible things. Security Blanket, Springheart, Rod of Ghost Teeth, Caber Twig, Gorgon Sinew Lariat, and there was that one awesome cloak that let you leap from Graves but I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.
These are just a few names and examples of the crazy-creative items that have come out of Round 1s the past couple years.
So I was thinking about all of the amazing stuff that has been presented to the masses over the years, and I got to thinking, "What if Paizo took a bunch of those great items from years past and made a compendium of them? Almost like another Ultimate Equipment, but name it, Like, 'Superstar Equipment Codex' or something?"
I guess such an idea would beg the questions:
Is something like this even feasible?
Would enough people get behind it?
What/who would determine the items that go into it?
And I'm sure another truckload of questions would sneak in there, too.
I was also figuring that something like this would be perfect to galvanize the RPGSS community for this season, seeing as a new contest is out of the question. (Which I respectfully understand)
So my question to both Paizo and the RPGSS community is this:
"Can this be done? and if so, who's in?"
Side note: I get the feeling it won't be a simple thing to arrange, but I honestly do feel of "Hey, let's get together and make something awesome!"

So I'm putting a Brawler character together that specializes in Charging, Bull Rush, and Overrun. So I've been doing my usual research and I came across an interesting combination of feats and items, and I'm wondering if this will all work the way I hope it to:
========================
Feats
Power Attack
Improved Bull Rush
Greater Bull Rush
Improved Overrun
Greater Overrun
Charge Through
Spiked Destroyer
Equipment
Armor Spikes (Still deciding on enhancements)
Giant Fist Gauntlets
=========================
So the two attack scenarios I'm thinking of go like this:
1. Charge Enemy
2. Unarmed Strike
3. Free Bull Rush (Gauntlets)
4. Swift action attack with Armor Spikes (Spiked Destroyer)
======
Or:
1. Charge Enemy
2. Charge over an enemy in my path; Get Free Overrun (Charge Through)
3. Swift Action Attack the guy I just ran over with my spikes (Spiked Destroyer)
4. Continue Charging (Because of Charge Through)
5. Strike initial charge Target with Unarmed Strike
6. Free Bull Rush (Gauntlets)
======
Does anything seem incorrect, mechanically, with this setup?

Hi gang. I was doing a little digging for a charging martial character idea. In doing so, I came across the "Minotaur's Charge" feat.
Minotaur's Charge
Source Classic Monsters Revisited pg. 43
Your charge sends foes reeling away, knocking them to the ground.
Prerequisites: Str 13, Improved Bull Rush, powerful charge.
Benefit: When you hit an opponent with a charge attack, you might also initiate a bull rush as a free action. This does not require you to move into your opponent’s square and does not provoke an attack of opportunity. If you successfully push your opponent 15 feet or more, he is also knocked prone.
==================
Naturally, My first reaction was, "Sweet cuppin' cakes! I need to see if this is legal in PFS!"
*Checks additional resources*
And, yes, Under Classic Monsters Revisited, AR states that the feat is legal for use.
*Looks at Prerequisites*
Next came, "Hmm, 'Powerful charge'? Never heard of that feat..."
*Digs some more*
*Digs Harder*
Then, I discovered that Powerful Charge is not a feat, but an extraordinary ability exclusive to monsters.
So this begs the question: How is a PFS-legal PC supposed to gain this PFS-legal feat, when a PFS legal PC can't obtain the monster-exclusive Powerful Charge ability? (Or at least can't obtain it via any means I've looked through.)
This is more of an honest inquiry than a complaint. I'm curious how this is supposed to work out.
I was wondering: With the revised price for the vial of efficacious medicine, (Per the latest AR update) what does this do for those who have purchased it before? Am I able to get a full refund? Or...?
I'm assuming the answer is yes, but I just want to make sure before I go making adjustments on my sheets.

So I'm poking around Options for Witches and came across the Hedge Witch and Hex Channeler Archetypes. I like them both, and per the rules for using two archetypes of the same base class, I would be able to use both on the same character. I just have a few questions:
1. If I take my 1st character level in Hedge Witch, then my 2nd character level in Hex Channeler, do I still gain a new hex as a 1st level witch, even though the Hex Channeler Replaces the hex gained at 2nd level?
2. Since the Hedge Witch replaces the hexes gained at 4th and 8th levels, does this affect the hexes I gain as a Hex Channeler? Like, when I get to 4th level Hex Channeler, is the hex still replaced?
3. Let's say I'm a 3rd-level Hex Channeler and a 1st-level Hedge Witch, am I considered a 4th level witch for the purposes of spells per day, familiar's ability advancement, and other such class features? Or am I considered to be a 3rd-level witch and a 1st-level witch?
I've looked around other thread that touch on dual-archetyping, but I can't quite seem to find the answer I'm looking for.
Thanks!

Last year, I decided to try writing the backstories of people's items. They would request it, and I would write it. However, I didn't expect life to blindside me, and quite a few of the "Item Fanfics" fell to the wayside. Once again, sorry about that.
This year, I'm doing something that is much more manageable. I'm going to be taking the items posted in the upcoming "Critique My Item" thread and writing a short, little haiku of my first impression of the item.
I will still post full critiques over in the CMI thread, but I think this will be a fun little way to get a little bonus with the critique. It is also a way for me to at least cover everyone's item, since last year I didn't do detailed critiques on everyone who posted in the thread.
Anyway, haikus will begin once the CMI thread opens up. If I do a detailed critique on your item, I will post a link to the appropriate post in the CMI thread.
This will be fun! ^.^

So, after taking a couple of hours to process the Top 32 list, I can't help but feel certain ways. It's a lot to post, so I decided to consolidate my thoughts and feelings into a video.
Not sure how it will come across, and some of the top 32 I'll apologize to personally via PM or something maybe. But I'm just afraid that if I don't get this off my chest now, it will come out during the critique period. And I need my mind clear for that.
Anyway, without further ado, my thoughts on top 32+4!

Another RPGSS season is upon us. And to alleviate the suspense that comes with voting season, I'm presenting the community with yet another set of super-silly Mad-Libs for the community to do and share!
For your viewing pleasure: Here's last year's thread!
So without further ado, I need the following! A:

Let's do it, gang!!!
So my buddy and I are poking around Occult adventures and we come across this spell called "Ego Whip", and its brother spells "Ego Whip II, III, IV, and V". Ego whip IV and V impose a -8 and -10 penalty (respectively) to any chosen mental stat. And if I'm reading it correctly, there's no save for this, just a save against being staggered.
So, enemies equipped with this Ego whip IV or V can just point to the jacked-up, 7 charisma powerhouse and effectively put him out of the fight for several rounds with no chance at a save.
Is this correct; or am I mistaken?

Hi all. I'm building a Tengu Eldritch Guardian (Familiar Folio Fighter Archetype), and giving him a Koala Mauler familiar. I'm also giving him the Claw Attacks Racial Trait.
He'll be dipping one level into Cleric of Abadar.
The specific Feats I have in mind up to level 11 are listed as follows:
Weapon Focus/Specialization: Claws
Greater Weapon Focus: Claws
Feral Combat Training
Belier's Bite
Domain Strike: Acid Dart
Elemental Fist
Precise Strike (Combat, Teamwork)
Efreeti Style
My initial goal is to not only have the Tengu's Claws be his main form of attack, but to also share the Combat feats with his Koala Familiar/Flanking Buddy (Whom also gets 2 Claw attacks, and therefore gains all the same benefits due to sharing my combat feats.)
The way I envision an attack taking place is like this (At Level 11).
Claw Attacks + 18 or 20 (10 BAB, 4 STR, 2 Weapon Training, 2 Greater Weapon Focus, [2 Flanking])
Damage for the first claw attack looks like this:
1d3 (Base)
+ 10 (6 from STR, 2 Weapon Spec, 2 Weapon Training)
+ 1d4 Bleed [Free] (Belier's Bite)
+ 1d6+1 Acid [Swift Action] (Domain Strike)
+ 1d6 (+3 from WIS if FIRE) Elemental [Call use before attack] (Elemental Fist)
+ 1d6 Precision [if flanking with Koala] (Precise Strike)
Damage for the Second Claw attack looks like this:
1d3 (Base)
+ 10 (6 from STR, 2 Weapon Spec, 2 Weapon Training)
+ 1d4 Bleed [Free] (Belier's Bite)
+ 1d6 Precision [if flanking with Koala] (Precise Strike)
So, here are my main concerns:
1. Can I stack all of those effects in the first claw attack together? Or do I separate them between the two claw attacks?
2. I know my Koala can NOT use Domain Strike, but can my Koala use the Elemental Fist?
3. Are there any suggestions, or something I'm overlooking?
Okay, so I'm perusing through random items and I come across Looking over the interactions between Portable Hole and Bag of Holding.
Core Rulebook wrote: If a portable hole is placed within a bag of holding, it opens a gate to the Astral Plane: the hole, the bag, and any creatures within a 10-foot radius are drawn there, destroying the portable hole and bag of holding in the process. No saving throw either...
So let's say there's a particularly difficult Big-Bad, and the party is all but in pieces. Could it be a thing to just walk up to the bad guy, shove the Portable Hole into the Bag of Holding, and just suck the boss away to the Astral Plane with you? Is this winning the scenario for all?
Also, IF this DID work, could you just spend the 5 Prestige for a body recovery? Or would you have to pay for any kind of resurrection? Personally, I think 5 Prestige is a small price to pay if it means the party succeeds the mission.
Thinking the phrase "Table Variation" is inevitable here.
Hey guys, Ive been seeing a lot of fun takes on reviews. So I'm going to try something as well.
I want to tell a short story involving your item! For me, this is going to be about 5% critique, and 95% writing practice. For you, the item's creator, it will be able to show you just the visual you are giving people with your items.
The stories will only be about a few paragraphs. But if I really liked your item, you might have a bit more.
So come one, come all!!! If you want in, post your item in this thread in a spoiler tag. I look forward to your replies!
Just making sure I'm clear on this before I go making posts I shouldn't be at the wrong time:
Is it okay for us to discuss items after voting ends, or we have to wait until top 32 are officially announced?
Fil·i·gree, noun - ornamental work of fine (typically gold or silver) wire formed into delicate tracery.
Okay, so I have heard repeated mentioning of this word throughout the contest amd voting process. But it seems that its mentioned almost begrudgingly, like we should avoid it like the plague. The word almost seems like it is being laughed at.
It is a little confusing, because it seems like a great descriptive word; especially for fantasy settings and the like.
So, what really is the issue with the use of the word, "filigree"? Is there some history behind this?
Okay, I saw this idea in the "So far I've seen" thread. As a writer, I felt compelled to do this. So, everyone, I have an item tempate written up, and I have the blanks in place. So here is what I need from you guys, in this order.

My curiosity was pecking, wondering how many total entries there were.
But I wasn't sure if we were allowed to ask, or get an answer for such a question. Or at the very lest, if it can be answered just yet.
Also, I'd be curious to see a breakdown of how many of what type is submitted, maybe after all the voting is over. like:
Swords: #XX
Axes: #XX
Shields: #XX
etc etc etc...

All right, gang! We all know things have been quite different here in Round 1 of this year's RPG Superstar Contest. As the announcement came out for what the contestants were to submit, many felt the collective groan as hundreds, if not thousands, of wondrous item ideas scattered into the wind.
But let's not have those ideas fly away unshared! Please feel free to share the wondrous item idea you were GOING to submit!
Here's the deal: (Please please, pretty please read these rules!)
1. Please only post your wondrous item. JUST YOUR WONDROUS ITEM!: Do not post ANYTHING that will allude to what you submitted for this year's contest! For Example: "I was going to submit this as a wondrous item, but I made it a Sword instead!"
2. Please feel free to discuss and critique: But Do not post ANYTHING that will allude to what you submitted for this year's contest! For Example: "I had that same idea, but I made it Armor instead!"
3. Participation is purely optional. Just have fun!: But DO NOT POST ANYTHING that will allude to what you submitted for this year's contest!
4. Do not get yourself disqualified by posting ANYTHING that will allude to what you submitted for this year's contest!
Anyway, without further ado. Here's what I WOULD have submitted. And I'm SO GLAD I didn't.
Prismatic Sweets
Aura moderate transmutation and abjuration; CL 7th
Slot none; Price 9,000 gp Weight ¼ lb.
Description
These seven tart, tasty candies are housed in a rune-embroidered, palm-sized burlap pouch. Each individual candy boldly shimmers with its own color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Although they are different colors, all seven sweets bear the same tangy punch of lemon and tangerine flavors.
A creature removes a sweet from its pouch and consumes it using the same rules as drinking a potion. Alternatively, a creature may spend a full-round action to consume up to five sweets at one time. Each sweet consumed provides DR 1/-, which stacks only with DR provided by other prismatic sweets from the same pouch. Additionally, the red sweet provides the consumer with fire resist 5; the yellow sweet bestows lightning resist 5; the blue sweet applies cold resist 5, and the purple sweet adds acid resist 5. (For example, consuming the red and green sweets will give a creature DR 2/- and fire resist 5.) All of these effects last for ten minutes, starting when the first sweet is consumed. If, during this time, a sweet from a different pouch is eaten, all effects from the first pouch of candies immediately end.
A pouch of prismatic sweets can be divided among any number of creatures. If a single creature consumes four or more sweets within a ten minute period, he becomes sickened for 1d2 hours after the effects of the sweets wear off.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, stoneskin, protection from energy; Cost 4,500 gp
======================
Yes, I was totally going to submit what my counsel group repeatedly referred to as, "Magic Skittles". I was coming up with a new idea just as the announcement was made to submit a magic item instead. So you can imagine how grateful I was for that.
Hey gang, I was trying to submit my entry. But when I clicked on the preview, it had my full name and my avatar on it, just like on this post.
I tried creating a new forum alias to alleviate this, but when I clicked the preview again, it still had my name and avatar!
The LAST thing I want to have happen is to be DQed because of this.
Is that appearance of my name and avatar supposed to happen? Do only the judges see those names and avatars? What do I do?
So, anyone who has been playing Pathfinder long enough knows how the pricing for magic items works.
+1 enhancement = 2,000 gp
+2 enhancement = 8,000 gp
+1 enhancement + +1 equivalent special property = 8,000 gp
+3 enhancement = 18,000 gp...
...and so on and so forth.
Let's say our example item starts as a +2 light mace
5 gp + 300 gp for masterwork + 8,000 gp for the enhancement comes out to 8,305 gp.
So there's the starting point. But how would one gauge how much an item should increase in cost based on it's spell effect?
Should we factor in the Caster Level of the item?
Times it can be used per day?
Is there even a formula for this, or do we go by our best judgment?
Higher-level players, have you ever looked at your latest Chronicle Sheet and been like this:
"Man, that's a lot of gold. What could I possibly buy with that?"
"I don't want to sink a 5-digit figure into another weapon enhancement just yet...Not really looking to buff my armor yet either..."
"Good on potions...wands...Cloak...Ring...Amulet..."
"Nope...I don't need anything."
It was when this happened to me that I began to pour over Ultimate Equipment and the Wondrous Item chapters of other books. What I found was a venerable treasure-trove of toys just waiting to come off the bench and onto the battlefield.
For me, it was Elemental Gems. Now I'm going into Troll Bones and Origami Swarms. I even decided to buy an Aegis of Recovery and a Gravedigger's Spade, just to try them out.
Have you ever glanced through any of the Pathfinder manuals, found an interesting item, and said, "Why not? I'll give this a spin!"? If so, how did it work out?

Right up there next to Gallant Inspiration, Beguiling Gift and Unnatural Lust are quickly becoming two of my new favorite spells. And I'm looking for new and interesting ways to make use of them. I've hit a couple of snags, however, that draw out some questions about how to use these spells.
Before I get to the questions, I'd like to point out that I'm planning on taking two levels in Ninja with this character to get Poison use, Sneak Attack, Ki Pool, and a Ninja Trick. I'm also using the Negotiator Bard Archetype, which gives me a small pool of rogue talents to work with as well.
Thus far, this character has done quite a good job with her 20 Charisma and Spell Focus (Enchantment). But I'm looking to make Beguiling Gift and Unnatural Lust her go-to spells against humanoids.
Anyway, on to the questions:
1. Will mixing an Injury-triggered poison with a damaging potion, such as Inflict Light Wounds combine the effects? Or is this even allowed?
2. Can I pass off a Ring of Retribution with Beguiling Gift and trick them into detonating it? Or do they just put the ring on?
3. Can potions be purchased at a higher caster level than minimum? Like getting a free Potion of Shocking Grasp Lv.3 at the cost of 1 PP?
4. Is the "Kissing and Caressing" effect of Unnatural Lust considered an attempt at Grappling? One GM Made it a grapple check, but I'm not sure it goes that way. Could this be GM discretionary?
I think these are the only questions I have for now, I might think of more. Also, the reason I posted this here and not in "Advice" is because a few of my concerns revolve around the rules and restrictions presented by PFS Organized Play. (Such as Poison use rules and purchasing higher CL potions)
I was looking at various Wondrous Items and came across the "Robe of Useful Items".
Here's how it works
This seems like it would be pretty cool to pop onto a PFS character for use in various scenarios. However, the concept of purchasing one for PFS begs the following questions:
1: Would I have to get a GMs approval to purchase one?
2: Is there a predetermined ruling on how the Robe of useful Items works in PFS that I may have missed?
3: I'm assuming I should make the rolls for the patches in the presence of a GM. Is this correct?
So, I was looking at the "Adopted" Social Trait, which took me to looking at Race Traits.
I was looking into giving a Crossblooded Sorceress the "Undine Loyalty" Race Trait, and pair it with the "Escape Route" Teamwork feat to better ensure survivability(/madeupword).
My question is: Using the "Adopted" trait, Am I allowed to use Race Traits for Undines--or any boon race for that matter--even though I do not have the boon to create a character of that race?
Just want to make sure before I go setting it in stone. Thanks!

So, I know I've mentioned use of Dirty Tricks a few times. I've been doing various methods of dirty tricks for 9 1/3 levels with my Cad/Daredevil. But I'm afraid I'm beginning to recycle ideas.
To give you an idea of how my character has been conducting himself, upon successful dirty trick checks he has:
1. Picked his nose and wiped on the enemy's face to sicken him.
2. Ripped a dwarfs beard out and rubbed in its face to blind him.
3. Hugged a cleric and said "NOW YOU HAVE IT, TOO!" To shaken him.
4. Unbuttoned a lady's top and spun it around to entangle her. (The GM followed this up by forcing all men to roll a Will save or get -2 circumstance penalty to AC from the distraction.)
5. Gave a Druid an Epic Double-Wet-Willie to deafen her, causing her spells to fail twice during the duration.
Other dirty tricks include eye-gouges, galactic wedgies, knees in the mommy-daddy button, tying a dog-eared enemy's ears together in front of its eyes, pants-ing, and even handing the enemy a magazine centerfold out.
So with this mechanic being limited only to the player's imagination and the GM's discretion, you can have a veritable cornucopia of tactically advantageous abject silliness.
That being said, I'd like to turn it to the community:
What kind of silly "Dirty Tricks" can you come up with?

So my buddy and I got into a discussion the other day:
I told him I was going to make a Crossblooded Sorceress using the Arcane and Marid Bloodlines.
At first, he gave the obvious "Are you sure you want to do that?" face. But then, he began to look over the two bloodlines to see why I chose them. After looking them over for a few minutes, he says, "I don't get it?"
"Get what?"
"What's the synergy?"
"The 'synergy' is the fact that this is the daughter of (Two of my characters from our home games)." [One is a Male Human Barbarian, the other is a Female Undine Bard]
Naturally, my buddy is a little taken aback. "You're going to take on all these disadvantages for your character?"
"That's what it is!" I respond, "A Character is what I'm making. Not just a Robot Soldier comprised of stats, spells, and magic items."
The conversation perpetuated for about half and hour. Ultimately, these are the two conflicting viewpoints:
------------------
Creating a "Character" is better because it enhances roleplay, challenges the player, and allows the player to think outside standard power strategies, ultimately culminating in a true sense of accomplishment when your character succeeds.
Drawbacks: Your "character" has a slightly lower chance of survival and making mistakes could prove a bit more critical.
(This is my preference!)
------------------
Creating a "Soldier" is better because the appropriate settings of classes, stats, combos, and items allows you to make for sure both you and your party can survive, and you're dealing great damage and utilizing decent action economy.
Drawbacks: You aren't challenged because you've probably "cookie-cutter"ed your character off some min-maxing strategy guide and you aren't experience a learning curve because you "Already know how the 'character' works"
==================================
Which of these do you prefer doing? and Why?

Hello again, all.
Since I got such wonderful help with my last topic concerning a "Wand of Gallant Inspiration" in conjunction with readied actions, I figured I'd present another product of my "help the party" brainstorming sessions.
I was looking through available ways to deal with Incorporeal creatures. A +1 Ghost-Touch Scorpion Whip was my first option.
But upon further research, I spotted the "Anchoring" magic weapon property. In its description, it specifies that Anchoring does not work on Incorporeal creatures unless the weapon also has the Ghost Touch Property.
So I had the "+1 Ghost-Touch, Anchoring" Part...Now I needed a weapon to strap it to that wouldn't put me out anything if I let it go.
Then I discovered the Snag Net. Increased DC for concentration...higher Break DC, hinders the target, and it deals an extra point of damage. At least, this is how it looks on paper.
That's where you guys come in. I've got a few questions concerning this idea:
1. I'm pretty sure this item will cost 32,000 gold. Is this correct?
2. Will the +1 Weapon enhancement add to the damage the net does while it is entangling a foe? (Making it 2 damage)
3. If I wanted to put Undead-Bane on it later, would that Bane Damage be applied to the net as well?
4. Will the Anchoring Property prevent the incorporeal creature from TELEPORTING? (This is the most important deal-breaking question. I am not plunking down $32,000 for something that can be escaped from so easily)
5. Does this even work the way I'm envisioning it? (Anchoring the Incorporeal in place for the other heroes to wail on it while it struggles to move and cast spells.)
Please help me to discover whether or not this is a good investment. Thank you. ^.^

Hi All,
I like to play the Bard/Support character, and I'm always looking for ways to better boost the group. I've taken particular liking to the Immediate Action Bard Spell "Gallant Inspiration".
I thought of making the spell into a wand. But before plunking down the funds for it, I did a little research to find that all wand use is a Standard Action, regardless of the spell's casting speed (If it's faster than a standard action).
However, to circumvent this issue, I've been given the idea to use a "Ready Action" with a Wand of Gallant Inspiration.
This raised a small list of questions that I NEED to have answered before I go through with buying the wand.
1. When I ready an action, am I allowed to say the trigger is, "A missed attack roll of my choosing."
2. Am I allowed to say, "A missed saving roll of my choosing", as per question 1?
3. Will this wand cost 4,500, or 6,000 gold (Because it is a bard-only spell)?
4. Will this still require a Concentration check?
5. Will this still not provoke Attacks of Opportunity?
