If it helps at all, feel free to write in whatever interactions with Boddy (or Vralk :-)) that would serve as a transition. He can help introduce you to the order before wandering off, show you his spellbook, etc.

That offer applies to everybody (with GM permission, of course). Treat him as a VERY cooperative NPC if it helps.

Lastly, remember, we're all here to have fun. If, for whatever reason, you are no longer having any fun, you are perfectly within your rights to bow out of the campaign.

I think that I'll do exactly that at this point. I've long felt that there are just too many characters in this game to keep track of stuff.

And this incident has crystalized what had been becoming clear. My gaming style is somewhat at odds with the rest of the groups. I think that this is a good time for me to bow out.

Thank you for the game so far. It was fun. And I (quite sincerely) hope that all of you continue to enjoy yourselves.

Boddy, completely disgusted at his companions just firing on guards because it seems convenient, realizes that he just doesn't understand these long shanks and it is time to return back to what he DOES understand.

While the combat rages he sneaks off and heads back to his village.

Thanks for the game everybody. I sincerely hope that you all have fun. But its pretty obvious to me that my gaming style isn't really a good fit for this group

Eh, I think we were spinning our wheels with no real plan, and that if I was GM, I might have decided by GM fiat that someone's finger slipped, releasing an arrow that would force something to happen about now.

I rather strongly disagree. Having us initiate combat goes beyond what I believe to be acceptable

The problem with Vralk is that there is no way that a normal bird would be flying in this wind and rain.

In vague fairness to Paizo, it is pretty obvious that
1) there system is very antiquated and held together with spit, bailing wire and electronic duct tape
2) They have less people working on it than it really needs
3) Those who are working on it are absolutely swamped by work.

I think they're running as hard as they can just to keep the various hamster wheels spinning. They have almost no time for new features

Boddy would definitely have looked at any items he was asked to look at. Sorry for missing that when it was posted earlier

Boddy happily goes into the backroom and has a good meal. He'll let the others talk to people. If the inn has any cats, mind, he'll talk to them :-)

At one point he will go up to Lindaer and quietly say
"I'm sorry if I upset or insulted you. I'm really not very good with people and sometimes say things that I shouldn't. You big people are still very strange to me"

GG Forest Gnome Boddynuck Male Wizard Folk Hero | Hp 18/18 | AC 12 | S -1/D+2/ C+3//I+7/W+3/C+1 | Passive Per 11 | Per +1 | Insight +1| Acro +2 Spells DC 15 save, [3/3 L2]

Saturday and Sunday nights we (Toronto) had an ice storm that cut power to about 40,000 households. And the snow it left is still on the ground.

So, I partly share your vent. But I also am partly thinking "Suck it up" :-) :-).

Boddy proceeds to walk right up to Lindaer and starts talking to her sternly, his voice that of an adult addressing a not particularly bright child

"I have no problem that he wanted to confirm our story. But he was pretty darn RUDE about how he did it. Where I come from, when people come in with stories it is polite to PRETEND to believe them but to still verify things. To almost openly accuse of us lying was just RUDE. And, given that we did decide to actually tell the truth, uncalled for :-).

And YOU may be a liar that has decided to start telling the truth some of the time but I'm not. I've always told the truth."

"Bloody holier than thou paladins. ESPECIALLY when they're actually LESS holier than some"

AFTER leaving the mayors office

"I've never met human officials before now. The senator and her people were fairly polite. Are all other human officials total arsehats like this one? To openly not believe people? Or is he right, or there that many liars amongst humans?"

Boddy looks visibly unhappy with the way the conversation is going but doesn't say anything

"I refuse to lie and prevaricate like these others are doing. I'll just keep quiet but I'm NOT going to participate in a lie. I'd have thought Paladins would be more forthright and honest. I guess the tales about them being honest and honourable people are exaggerated"

Right now it was one relatively small incident in a fairly remote location. What if the next attempt is in the city? Using lions OR GOBLINS instead of worms? What if we keep the knowledge to ourselves and all die in some great adventure? We can NOT be the only people to know this, we MUST get the books elsewhere.

The Order is the obvious place to take these books. They'll know what to do with the knowledge. And they're basically good people, they can be trusted!"

Sorry for the delay

I'm going to assume that Boddy has read both the spellbook and journal. Or is unconscious from the attempts to stop him :-) :-) :-)

"That journal is absolutely fascinating. So, the Worms grew from a tiny size and didn't start all glowly and psychic. That anomoly could be just about anything but it sounds like it might be a gate to somewhere. Some other dimension? Other world? Other plane.

Or perhaps just a being. A being of pure mind?

So many fascinating tidbits, so little concrete information

Arthugh wasn't a particular powerful mage. More powerful than I am but less powerful than my teachers were"

Can Boddy figure out more?
arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

And does Boddy know Arthugh at all from his studies with the order? Not a clue what I'd roll so I'll just roll a d20 and let you decide what, if anything, I know
know about Arthugh: 1d20 ⇒ 15

@Mended - Thanks. Appreciated.

As to blindness/darkness I'll go along with the majority but I AM concerned about making what is already a very bad situation still worse. The move - attack - move sequence is very troubling.

It may be realistic for the following to happen but I'm not sure that it is FUN

GM: Suddenly out of the darkness somebody comes in, swings at you, hits for 12 points and then you think they ran away.
Player: Perception roll. Fails
GM : Suddenly out of the darkness somebody comes in, swings at you, hits for 12 points and then you think they ran away. Well, you WOULD think that except, of course, for the fact that 12 points knocked you unconscious.

I don't know how common monsters with darkvision are in D&D5th but, in Pathfinder, the almost true running joke is "Oh, they're not human? Then OF COURSE they have darkvision". Darkvision combined with some means of creating darkness is incredibly common in Pathfinder.
