Sad, but true, real life needs to stay in first place. Ah, but it all started incredibly beautiful! Thank you all for your company anyway!

Dark Archive

For a few moments before...

"I am absolutely convinced that... someone is watching us." - Berstuk listens to some sounds that only he can hear by rotating and slightly tilting the head. His eyes widen. "...And they have bad intentions. I just heard 'get them all'". Alas, he did not have time to add more...

Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Dark Archive

Berstuk nods. The surrounding area suppresses him... or rather fact that he does not feel it "edges" - "Sometimes I envy them. They can see far... But only sometimes. I can do more than they are." He approaches one of the corpses of enemies, and begins to grope it, trying to collect as much information as possible and to find something valuable. To escape.

Perception?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

Dark Archive

Done.

Dark Archive

Everything is fine!

Dark Archive

UPD!

Berstuk not able to 'see' anything at this distance, of course. But it is not necessary, if there are comrades who are brave and eager for the fight as well as he is. He hears the distant sound of battle and it will show the right direction. And not to stray from the path will help the heart beat a strange man-bird, which already has rushed in attack.

...So he runs to them with all possible fury, pulling on the move his kukri.

actions:

So:
- Initiative still 21
- I'll take +1 to AC via war blessing on this round.
- Run (160 ft) and stand next to Ebon Pennyfeather
- Current AC 20 (+4 bonuses -4 run)

Dark Archive

Lol, I just didn't think to scroll the map down (and also not noticed that you're not just moved forward, but ran). Thank you for writing!

P.S. Also I want to say thank you for the map. It is much easier!

Dark Archive

"Oh, how good. Let's dance!"

Berstuk feels the presence of some life in the distance in front of him. Hostile life. And their hostility is pleasing to him. Their three-dimensional silhouettes exist in his head in detail. And he runs to them with all possible fury, pulling on the move his kukri.

All Rolls:

-----
Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
I'll take +1 to attack roll via war blessing on this round.
UPD! I'm not sure where exactly I am on the map, so charge to any nearest creature.
Kukri: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 21
(usual attack + divine favor + charge + war bless)
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage sneak: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 4) = 12 (if they are still FF at the moment)
AC 21 (- 2 charge, +3 Shield of Faith)
-----

Dark Archive

Ref: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Berstuk not even swayed. However, he is quite intrigued. "I wonder if I really died... I have lived very good live or very bad, that after death I got in such a place? Well, at least it's interesting."

At the same time he doesn't like this noise, his acute sense of hearing causes him even a little pain now.

"Okay-okay, let's get out of here as soon as possible!"

He takes the hand of the nearest companion and meanwhile begins to hum an impromptu prayer, very often repeating the words "Blood" and "Holy Sacrifice". Twice he looked back to his comrades, and adds a few words in prayer about them.

(so I cast on self what I wrote before + Ebon Pennyfeather & Mia Curseborn - you get the War Mind Blessing too, look spoiler above please)

Dark Archive

"Good approach. I hope when I'll get there in trouble someday, they will remember this and do the same. Well, forward to meet that I love so much. The massacre."

"I'm in."

Heading to the elevator, he takes out a pair of kukri. Touching them brings a sense of comfort and pleasure. "Daddy's home. Time for bed, kids". Berstuk smiling an evil grin. He twists and twirls them in his hands, writing out the eights and intricate shapes, without slowing down his movement. "I don't remember why, but I'm sure a lot of blood is good. Very good. So the work was done beautifully and with dignity". He wants to begin to whistle a tune, but then decides that this is unnecessary.

"By the way, I not only don't need the light... I don't need any eye contact. I like to work in darkness and thick fog, so none of my enemies could not understand where I am... until their blood is sprinkled the floor. Keep this in mind when planning battle tactics."

When it will be clear that before the fight there is not a lot of time/steps, he will cast on self (in this order): Shield of Faith (AC +3), Divine Favor (+2) and War Mind Blessing.

War Mind Blessing:
Minor War Blessing (War Mind): At 1st level, you can touch an ally and grant it a tactical advantage for 1 minute. At the start of its turn each round, it can select one of the following bonuses: +10 feet to base land speed, +1 dodge bonus to AC, +1 insight bonus on attack rolls, or a +1 luck bonus on saving throws. Each bonus selected lasts for 1 round.

Dark Archive

Berstuk says in a half whisper, slightly turning his head: "Usually the pathfinder is a person who explores a new area. Looking for trails, deposits of something, draws it all on the map and so on."

Dark Archive

Berstuk nods. Of course, he doesn't see the picture, which opened before his comrades, but some surprised gasps tell him a lot.

"So you want to tell us that there is a huge library, and we all kind of her the researchers? Even... Pathfinders? Hm. As I understand some groups never returned. Any ideas what did they face there? Monsters? Mechanisms? Bandits? Or is it just a maze where many simply can't get out? "

Dark Archive

Everything is fine. GM if I will have any problems you will know about it first. For me normal temp - 1 post per weekday and 1 post per weekend. It will be hard to keep a higher pace for me. However, in the description of the game which Nate gave the pace was even a little bit lower. I'm sorry if I made you worry. By the way I also play at your table in the Year of the Shadow Lodge. You have probably noticed I think ;)

Dark Archive

"Odors. So strange they are... I'm not sure I can say this for certain but it seems to me that I had never felt anything like this. Like... they were never alive. No... the stone also was never alive. I feel that most of objects emitting these odors never had any connection with nature. This is incredible. I can't say whether I like it or not. However, the smell of 'coffee' I like. Whatever it is."

Berstuk chose not to not join in any conversations. At all. Just go and listen. And to think. To understand all that is happening, to gather like-minded people, to strike, to break free and then...

"...And then what, buddy? Where will you go?"

Suddenly he felt an uncontrollable need for prayer. He 'always' ("it seems to be") did this when he didn't know the correct answer. Prayed. And his God answered him. Pointed the way. His God is...

*Somewhere in the consciousness again flashed the image of a majestic insect*

"Ohh... I don't remember the name. I don't remember the name!"

And here for the first time he was scared. Berstuk felt that his identity is not determined by his memories. No, his personality is determined by how earnestly and faithfully he serves this creature and how this creature is satisfied with his actions. And now he can't even remember the name of this God-Creature.

...All this time, while thoughts and awareness flowed into his mind, Berstuk silently followed their strange company and even more strange female agent. He felt the unknown smells and sounds, felt other people's views, but did not know how to react. And that he was just trying to be the most inconspicuous. He wanted to make it so if the new boss decides right now to kill them, the first blow will be directed not at him. Something inside him told him that the habit to hide and stand still saved his life many times since childhood - regardless of how his childhood looked like...

Meanwhile, they entered a place that probably was the living compartment. Dispute between members of their team he wasn't interested. "I remember who has this book, and if need be I'll take it myself. In the manner which will be more convenient."

He was interested in another question. So he finally decided to clear his throat.

"Khmm... Lady Ynja! You said if I understand you correctly that we are not the first such group. Tell me, what usually do here persons like us? In the sense that I feel the weapons and magic. Good weapon and strong magic, both divine and arcane. We are not the peasants. And not even the artisans. We are a typical good battle group. Why are we here? What are we going to do?"

Dark Archive

First, in his head appeared the image. Giant insect walking in darkness through the blood flows. Whole oceans of blood. He felt that the insect exudes evil, it doesn't feel any sympathy to anyone. It does not feel kindness to anyone. But it is able to respect. And it respects me. "I? And who am I?". The image of a majestic insect began to disappear. He madly wanted to run after him, to stop him, to follow him. Albeit at the cost of his life. It was so perfect...

"...But it's too late. Reality. Darkness. My whole being dwells in the darkness. In fact, I never saw the world the way as it see others. I don't remember anything about myself, and I understand that. But I understand that there are things deeper than memory. Things that makes your personality. And one of these pillars for me is darkness. I do not see as other creatures, but the way I perceive the world is much more complex and full. Inside my head - three-dimensional picture of space that I can rotate and examine as I want. I feel nearby other beings. Humans, elves. Perhaps someone else is. I don't see them, but once sensed, I won't be confused. Smell. This is a unique. Well, the smell can be muted. But the unique rhythm of the pulse you coldn't change. Well, ok, the object can change himself with the help of magic. But the way he moves, the way to cut through the air, the way to breathe, how he flickers - it is forever with him. And I can feel it in the vibrations in the air, I can hear, I can feel it by every millimeter of my skin. I need to understand who I am and where I am. Gotta get out of here. It doesn't feel right. I don't remember anything about myself, but I remember hundreds of ways to kill another creature. It's very strange. It is necessary to establish contact and work together to get out of here. Somewhere. Then we'll decide what to do next".

...He thought about all of this, listening to the voices around.

He has long black hair and a black beard. But it almost do not pay attention. What you can't look away - it's his very strange eyes. They have no pupil and iris. They seemed to consist entirely of molten silver. There is something bewitching in this eyes... But in a much greater degree - something frightening and repulsive.

"My name is Berstuk. I know this is a strange question. But... does anyone know... what's the plan?"

Dark Archive

Ok, hi everybody! I'm Berstuk Cert aka Mystery Cult aka Igor in real life.

In real life: 28 years old, brazilian jiu jitsu practitioner and coach, owner of the mixed martial arts gym etc. It's like a multi-classing combo of monk-grappler, cult leader (because martial arts are religion too, believe me) and some kind of merchant :) Moscow, Russia, UMT +3. It is important to say - English is not a native language for me and at the moment I don't have a lot of practice in addition to this forum. So, yes, if sometimes you will see some mistakes... or oddities... just don't be surprised. I'm doing my best to avoid it.

In roleplay games: last year RPGs of this format completely replaced computer RPGs for me. I like the option to communicate with real people and express myself as I see fit but not as prescribed in the 'script of the game'. Also, I like interesting characters. I like when my characters get their own personalities when even I myself can't predict how exactly they will behave in certain situations. They must be filled with life - and it's impossible (for me) to do this in advance. This happens in good games with good situations in them - when the choices, actions and consequences form what for me as a player interesting to take in my own experience.

In this game: Berstuk is completely blind, but he turned it from his weak side to the strong one. He developed feelings so perfectly that he sees more than a normal sighted person... But in a limited range. This is a very interesting concept for roleplay (at least for me) and I'm grateful for GM Panic for suggesting to modify Berstuk this way (in the first version, my character was not completely blind). I hope it's not too much about the character, because it was in the description before the link here ))

Well, Hello again everybody and I wish us all a great game!

Dark Archive

Thank you! There's still some hope .)

Dark Archive

*crossing fingers for good luck*

Dark Archive

Got you, thanks! The literary text is rather the example of the mindset of the character as well as my 'writing style'. So it is not a background and I'll just put it away when the game starts. In general, do I understand correctly that we are the "party of Bourns"? In the sense that the we don't have memory, but the habits and the mindset remains the same? If the answer is "No" and we have a brand new personality - then I better change my traits. If the answer is "Yes", then everything is right. Berstuk will experience some itching in certain situations, but he will not understand why. Just a "heartfelt impulse to stab and then go to pray it is unclear to whom". But during the game he wouldn't refer on his past or parents - I didn't ever plan it.

Dark Archive

If you have a minute for feedback for me - I would be very grateful. I do not insist, just writing in case my character is lost somewhere in these 5 pages. Thanks )

"Not so important, who you are and where you came from. It doesn't matter to your employers. It doesn't matter to those whom you seek. What do you think about yourself no one will ever know. I'm just the tool for the job. And it suits me. Without people like me, the world will collapse."

Before you stands a tall, blond male. His hair is slightly curly, his short beard just touched with gray. His green eyes froze good-natured mockery. His mouth crooked smiles, as if he finds everything is a little funny. It seems that he understands and sees many times more than he says. And he says rarely.

"I have a code of honor. These rules gave me my God. They are simple, but they constructed my whole life. And I'll hold onto them, because I believe that they are Sacred. I do not believe that these rules are for all. To follow them you need to be strong in spirit. It is not for everybody, but I will not say that this is not their fault. In the end, the reasons are only important to you. For all the rest is only important the result. And it's honest. I like it."

He is wearing a dark green cloak, and beneath which lurks a light chainmail shirt. On his belt hang a pair of kukri with beautiful dark red handles. On hand - a ring with a symbol of two crossed paws of some insect. He walks to the bar, his movements are relaxed and soft, like a big predatory cat about to leap.

"It's simple. Here are the basic rules. Not to break the word. Always perform the contract, which I took, at any cost. Not to kill the children of sentient races. Not to kill the kings, because their power is divine. To always get what I promised - at any price. Not to forget, not to forgive and pursue until my last breath anyone who breaks the word that he gave me."

"Innkeeper, make me some tea. Don't give me that look. Good. Here, catch the coin. I heard there is possible to find someone by the name Nate. They say he has a job. Problems that need to be solved quickly but wisely."

"My reputation is the most valuable thing in my life. If I took a contract - it has no statute of limitations. If employer cheats me - retribution will be terrible. It is fair and it is unwavering. I like that word. Unwavering. Hope it's about me."

"...Of course, of course. And that's fine. Just tell him that here came Berstuk" - He removes the ring from his finger - "And give him this. He'll understand. Went!" - for a moment his gaze becomes ice.

"I find and kill those who ordered. Money is no object. Money is expression of intent, an expression of the fact that this is serious for the employer. Money and reward is part of sacred ritual. As the murder itself. I trained myself for many years, and now anyone can't hide from me. And it's not just a metaphor. I will find, even in the darkness of hell, by the smell, by trembling breath. My God has blessed me. I think, because on people like me the world stands. We do it better and more consistent. In the name of Him Who Walks in Blood. Let there... will be blood."

Hi! Conceptual, Berstuk is a sacred killer. Through training, he overcame the weak human senses so that now he has blindsight. Fighting with his eyes closed he's just as dangerous as when they are open. Technically he is warpriest with the level of the knife master, who devoted himself to the Blinded Blade combat style (it's from Paizo book "Blood of Shadows"). In addition to fighting skills, he is a priest of Achaekek (heal etc), as well as a great scout.

Hope to take part in the game! All the mechanics of the character are ready. Also I will be glad for feedback. Thanks )

Touch of Darkness (Sp): As a melee touch attack, you can cause a creature's vision to be fraught with shadows and darkness. The creature touched treats all other creatures as if they had concealment, suffering a 20% miss chance on all attack rolls. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum 1). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Feats:

Blind-Fight: You are skilled at attacking opponents that you cannot clearly perceive. In melee, every time you miss because of concealment (see Combat), you can reroll your miss chance percentile roll one time to see if you actually hit. An invisible attacker gets no advantages related to hitting you in melee. That is, you don't lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class, and the attacker doesn't get the usual +2 bonus for being invisible. The invisible attacker's bonuses do still apply for ranged attacks, however. You do not need to make Acrobatics skill checks to move at full speed while blinded.

Tribal Scars: You endured the grueling coming-of-age rituals of your tribe or following, and proudly bear the scars that grant you the blessings of your tribe’s ancestors or totem. You gain 6 hit points. In addition, you gain one of the following:
Night hunt: +2 bonus on Perception and Survival checks.

Selective Channeling: You can choose whom to affect when you channel energy. When you channel energy, you can choose a number of targets in the area up to your Charisma modifier. These targets are not affected by your channeled energy.

Toughness: You have enhanced physical stamina. You gain +3 hit points. For every Hit Die you possess beyond 3, you gain an additional +1 hit point. If you have more than 3 Hit Dice, you gain +1 hit points whenever you gain a Hit Die (such as when you gain a level).

Role:

Berstuk is the perfect support character for the party in battle. Growing up in the harsh lands of the Mammoth Lords, he understands the price of strength and military tactics. He can heal the party - selectively, without enemies, can work fine in the first row - creates a flank for fellows, weakens foes with magic, would not let enemies come to more stunted comrades and also can hit himself. In a non-combat situation he tries to solve everything peacefully... and cunning. He will be the last to try to appeal to reason and conscience of the interlocutor, but if it doesn't work - he will try to help his teammates to use stealth and deception. In the end, Kelinahat which he worships - patron of spies, and despite her lawful-good essence, She on Ebon Wings encourages deception and stealth, if it goes in the name of good deeds.

Dark Archive

Well, how can we talk about a balanced team in which there is no a good healer? )

This is a human cleric of Kelinahat (LG Empyreal Lord), able to massively heal his fellows in arms and fight on the front lines in times of needs!
