Bellius seems to consider his words carefully in response to the Twinhorn leader's religious question, hesitating before he answers as if unsure how his response will be received. "You are a woman of honor, so I will answer without dissembling."

"I strive to follow what I believe is the path laid out by the Last Azlanti, Aroden." The Taldan pauses briefly before continuing, "Everyone believes Aroden to be dead, and perhaps he is. But I do not believe he failed in ushering in the Age of Glory that was foretold."

"No. Aroden would not have failed at such a task. Rather, I believe he purposefully offered an opportunity for his charges to reach out and create that age without the interference of gods or prophecy."

His face takes on a sad expression as he continues, "Cheliax was primed to grasp this, but failed to do so, turning to diabolism as a means of power, and showing that they were not ready to stand on their own."

The archer continues, "I do not have a quarrel with the other gods. Still, I look forward to the day first when humanity leaves its childhood behind and learns to stand on their own, ushering in a new and glorious age without the need for divine intervention, and then leading the other races of Golarion into the same. And I seek to do what I can to aid in the birth of this great and unrealized potential."

Bellius breathes a sigh of relief as he sees Benu's magical healing stabilize the Kellid. He turns and bows to the priest. The blood-covered hands and garments make the young man's bow appear just a bit out of place.

"Thank you, Benu," he says. "I can do without any extra deaths on my conscience." Turning to the samurai, he adds a second bow, "And thank you as well, Ken'ichi."

He pulls a cloth from his clothing and begins to wipe himself and the Kellid down (with limited success). The archer gives a sigh, as he goes to retrieve his bow.

"Be right back, friends. I'm going to rinse off." He is able to remove most of the blood using water from the nearby pond. After a minute or so, he retrieves his longbow and rejoins the group.

Even before he sees the result, Bellius feels the lethal damage unintentionally dealt by his attack, snapping back from the thrill of combat. A sick feeling rises in the pit of his stomach as he realizes the gravity of the Kellid's wound. "Gods' deaths!" the man curses as he drops to a knee and attempts to staunch the bleeding wound from the mortally wounded Kellid's head barehanded.

"Healer!" he shouts, blood gushing through his fingers, "this one's bleeding out!"

Whoops! Well to be fair, Bellius did say he was bad at dealing nonlethal damage. I will attempt a heal check if others don't stabilize, but I wanted to give a chance for others to post, and I thought it was a fun RP opportunity.

Bellius studies the prone man like a cat studying a mouse, and strikes out fiercely with his longspear at the downed man, though he attempts to avoid the vital regions.

Move Action: Study Target, Standard Action: nonlethal attack. I'm assuming that with him prone and those rolls that the natural 20 was confirmed. If not, please adjust accordingly.

As the yellow-sashed Kellid flees from the melee, Bellius reaches out with his longspear, placing the haft between the man's shins to try to trip him.

Combat Maneuver (Trip), bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22

Using a Trip combat maneuver as an attack of opportunity. If this maneuver is successful (which I believe it will be), the yellow Kellid would be prone in whatever square he was when he provoked from Bellius.

Seeing the undead fall, Bellius drops his bow and moves towards the Kellid with the yellow, drawing the longspear from his back. He strikes out with his longspear, targeting not the Kellid, but the bow he is carrying.

Combat maneuver (Sunder): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

If Bellius succeeds on the Sunder combat maneuver, and if the damage he deals would reduce the bow to less than 0 hit points, he will choose to destroy it.

Whoops, realized that I forgot to include bless in my attack roll. That should be a 19, rather than 18, for Bellius's last ranged attack.

Bellius moves up past Benu, attempting to get a clean shot on the undead. He fixes the undead with his piercing eyes, as he draws an arrow. "Aye, and here's another skewer for you," he says under his breath as he nocks the arrow and draws the bowstring to his cheek. He looses his shot and his right hand reaches down, fingers searching for his next arrow.

"Never was much good at disabling without causing damage," the bowman shouts. "I'll work on killing that undead for the second time." Bellius moves up beside Ifzari, loosing an arrow at the undead monster.

"Agreed, Ken'ichi," the archer nods, agreeing with the samurai. Bellius drops down to one knee picks up a bit of the wilted grass, smelling it carefully before tossing it down and spitting. He stands up. "Corruption seeps into the soil itself," he says darkly. He moves in a practiced arc through the swamp, scanning the soil and vegetation for signs of the undead patrol's passage. As he moves, he wracks his brain to try to recall any useful knowledge about the area.

Survival (taking 10): 10 + 4 = 14
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Bellius bows slightly awkwardly to Medda, his longbow still in hand, "Thank you, ma'am. We'll do our best."

Bellius will leave the scrolls to those who have a chance to use them.

In a defensible position, and able to focus his mind and calm his breathing, Bellius delivers carefully place arrows at the approaching foes as he continues Defending the Site.

Defend the Site

Trusting in his comrades to help complete the ritual, Bellius draws his longbow, and with the eye of a practiced marksman, attempts to eliminate any threats before they can harm the group.

@GM Blazej - noted, though I am tempted to let the others apply that boost to their roll. If it seems like we're wasting time using that boosted token, I will apply it in a future round.

Bellius, seeing an opportunity in the drake's words, attempts to goad it into taking action against Eshmika, "Would you have people say that weak creatures like us defeated a foe that you yourself could not, great Zurhriga? If this evil affronts you, why not prove your might by striking against it directly. Or is this foe in truth beyond you?"

Seeing the drake's distress and signs of his anger around the area, Bellius speaks up, sweat dripping from his brow, "Surely, awesome Zurhriga, you have felt evil rising. We seek to vanquish it, and then would happily leave you in peace."

As he speaks, the young Taldan tries to understand the source of the drake's rage, and to recall any legends that might help him to make his case to the beast.

Bellius looks a little nervous at the mention of a drake, but nods his assent to the new mission.

Bellius moves up directly behind Ken'ichi and takes aim at the northernmost blue undead (due to its positioning 1 square below Ken'ichi, I believe that this attack will not suffer from soft cover). He grimaces when he hears their words and sees their unnatural attack on the samurai. "I think I preferred the plants," he says to no one in particular as he shoots an arrow into the darkness around the portal.

Bellius grunts as he strains with the paddle, attempting to guide the canoe away from the rocks.

Bellius continues his efforts at manning the paddles, working with a will but with limited expertise.

Feeling that his best contributions at this moment may come from a strong back, Bellius gets into the canoes takes up a position on a paddle.

Blessing seems straightforward enough. Am I correct in assuming that Burning Radiance's "additional amount of damage equal to 1d6 plus twice the character's level" would not be multiplied on a critical hit?

Besides that, how is everyone feeling about this adventure so far? We are about at the half way point for this event and I wanted to know if people were happy with the pacing I've been running, if it has been too fast, too slow, confusing, abrupt transitions or anything like that?

Are you all having fun going past this midway point?

I'm enjoying it. Pacing and transitions have worked great for me, and the party has been both good and fun.

Bellies breathes a sigh of relief a the final zombie falls, sheathing his dagger after cleaning it and retrieving his longbow. You picked a hell of a first outing with the Society, he misses as he picks up his weapon. Still, this needs to be done from what I've seen. There's no room for this evil in Avistan. He checks the corpses and surveys the battlefield until he has convinced himself that there is no imminent danger.

"Glad to see you on your feet again, master swordsman," he says to Ken'ichi. "That was a hard hit you took."

Unfortunately, the Taldan himself does not fully understand the mission they are on, do he leaves it to others to explain to Bahen, listening carefully and nothing everything that is said.

Bellies continues his assault on the red zombie, studying its movements as he slashes fiercely at its neck.

Seeing the creeper fall and only plant zombies left, Bellius drops his bow and moves to support Benu and Ken'ichi, drawing his dagger. He slashes at the zombie, attempting to hack it apart.

"Pathfinder down!" Bellius shouts as he sees Ken'ichi fall. Without missing a step, he strides forward as he nocks an arrow, draws, and again looses at the creeper.

Bellius carefully studies the blighted creeper, concerned by its strange attack on Logan. When a monster attacks you, and it doesn't seem like it should hurt, things are going to get bad, the Taldan lad recalls the old soldier's advice. He calls out in a worried voice to the rest of the group, "What is that attack? Pollen?"

A bit distracted, he lines up a shot and fires at the creeper.

Bellius lacks any ranks in Knowledge (Nature), and so probably cannot identify the characteristics of that pollen attack. It worried him, though.

Bellius will delay his action until after the Creeper acts.

In the brief lull between battles, Bellius has positioned himself just behind Ken'ichi, temporarily lining up a clear shot at any enemies coming down the road. "More coming I think," he says, and the incoming plant zombies and creeper soon prove him right.

A small grin comes to Bellius's face on seeing the Seedpod fall. Looking over and seeing the party still engaging zombies, he quickly moves to the portal, stepping through and taking a position just south of the far side.

Seeing his first shot partially blocked by the Seedpod's outer husk, and seeing the party's continued efforts against the zombies and creeper, Bellius focuses intently on his next shot. He quiets his breathing and his racing heart, pushing the battle from his mind as he draws his bow and looses an arrow in a smooth motion, again targeting the Seedpod.

@Ifzari, hopefully I did not interfere with your shot - I moved quickly, but thought I had stayed out of your way.

Bellius takes a step forward, carefully studying the yellow musk creeper, before firing off a carefully aimed shot at it.

Bellius grits his teeth as he sees the arrow impact its target without serious damage. "Blasted zombie probably didn't even feel that arrow! Probably have to hack them apart," he says, as he moves up by Ken'ichi.

The shot you have isn't always the one you want. Take the shot you have, though. Bellius's master's voice rings in his head. Bellius, not seeing a way to get a clear shot on any other targets, moves about ten feet to his left while just skirting the edge of the bog, and shooting at the yellow zombie through a gap in the trees.

Bellies marks his target carefully, studying it before letting an arrow fly. His shot is obscured by the intervening brush, however.

"For now, I'd be content with releasing this one's spirit, if it has one," the Taldan says to the samurai as he gestures towards the aberration, as he tries to remember anything else he knows about ettercaps and their strengths and weaknesses.

Bellius moves quickly to a position with a clean shot, though doing so puts him in the brush. He trains his bow on the ettercap and releases, too busy navigating the flora to settle down his aim properly.

Bellies moves nimbly through the forest, leaping over small obstacles and attempting to evade danger as he pursues the ettercap.

Bellius grins at the dwarf, replying, "You know, Logan, I have to agree with you."

Bellius wishes the tengu safe passage through the woods, and then turns his attention to tracking the other group of Pathfinders. He checks both the ground and surrounding plant life for signs of their passage (Probably not too successfully!)

The young Taldan frowns as he sees the dead Pathfinder suspended in the trees. "Poor bastard," he mutters to himself, covering his mouth with a cloth to cut the smell of death, "now what in Golarion did this to you?" He studies the scene carefully, trying to recall any stories he's heard of creatures that hunt and kill this way.

Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Bellius approaches, silently cursing himself for not seeing the enemy and for missing that final shot. At 30 feet out, you should be able to hit a bulls-eye every time. Lucky you're traveling with strong fighters. He looks happy but uncomfortable with the praise for the group's archers from the first tengu, muttering something about still having a lot of practice to do himself.

Realizing he's being unsocial, he speaks up, "Just happy we got out of that mostly in one piece." The young Taldan continues with a grimace. "That was a nasty enemy. Are you able to travel, or do you need further assistance?"

Bellius carefully marks his target, taking a quick step towards it and loosing another arrow from his bow. Move action Studied Target, 5' step (to activate point-blank shot), Standard Action attack.

Despite his best efforts, Bellius is unable to spot the ooze.

On seeing the trail of acid through the woods, Bellius draws his bow, looking for signs of the direction that the ooze may have headed.

Survival (taking 10): 10 + 4 = 14

He continues through the woods, carefully studying the tengu who attempts to raise his gun (Studied Target +1) before deciding that the bird is not an immediate threat. He allows the other members of the group to deal with the injured Pathfinders, while he moves to the treeline and attempts to blend into the scenery (using the trees as a source of cover).

Stealth (taking 10): 10 + 8 = 18

While Ken'ichi and the other tengu are speaking, he carefully searches the surrounding area, attempting to locate any threats that might be approaching the party.

As the party approaches the larger group of Pathfinders, Bellius takes note of their low numbers. Looks like we were lucky.

After Medda's request, Bellius nods his head in agreement with Ken'ichi. "We are mostly whole, thanks to healing from Benu. And we have acquired the help of friendly spirits. We can search for the others."

If it is helpful and can be done quickly, Bellius can lower a rope down to help Benu up.
