Thanks for keeping us in the loop GM. Therapy practice sounds interesting, you'll have to tell us about it when you have the time.

We'll be here when you're ready.

Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

"Never Hide in the wilds as a boy, friends? Enough talk."

Bahram: +1 BAB, +1 Will, +1 Reflex, Careful aim, Point-Blank Shot,
Shirin: +2 NArm. +1 Trick, +1 STR/DEX, Evasion,

D10 Gives me 6HP yeah? (plus CON etc)

All done except HP (tidied up my character aswell, Bahram was a mess)

Bahram looks back breifly over the ruined town, casting his mind back to his men and the town they defended, fearing for them. With a shake of his head he pulls himself back to the present.

We need to keep these folk moving, if they stop to think now we have lost them.

Nodding at Arun's suggestion the Keleshite raises his voice

"Into the forest, everyone into forest! We can lick our wounds when we are safe!"

Or dead, kambag'al jazosi.

What's the hobgob in the water up to gm?

As Shirin moves across the bridge alongside the civilians, Bahram waits on the town side until everyone else has passed, bow drawn. He crosses only at the last moment when everyone else is across.

Time for some more ill-advised Bahram madness!

Bahram drops from Shirin's saddle, knocking and loosing an arrow as he does so

Ride(Quick Dismount): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Shirin rears up and then charges forward, Bull Rush charge to R6!

Bull Rush: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20

Let's try this again

Bahram looses another arrow at the leader

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Ok so it's down to you guys

"Let's more it! This one's as good as dead."

Bahram looses another arrow at the leader

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Or into the ground again, whatever works...

Then moves Kirin forward.

H12 ish

Standing tall in the saddle Bahram looses another arrow at the hobgoblin on the bridge.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Welcome Chirk!

Kicking Shirin into action Bahram emerges from behind the tree Arun shelters beneath and Rides across the road (B16) Yelling as he does so

"Men, encircle them, we have them now"
Bluff: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5

and loosing an arrow at the large hobgoblin.

Attack (BAB+Dex+Move): 1d20 + 2 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 3 - 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

That's not very convincing then...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sounds OK by me. I've wanted to play a Grippli for ages, I'll roll up his long lost cousin when I manage to kill Bahram off. :P

Bahram's going to delay as per the plan

Bahram, still mounted, stays with the big group. He has his bow in hand and an arrow knocked. Shirin snorts none too quietly as the pair wait to pounce.

"Make them sleep Arun Smithsen. Then we go."

Bahram will be the cavalry reinforcement! What sort of distances are we talking GM, how far from the bridge is the group?

Ride (Swift Dismount): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 :(

Bahram rides over to the corpse of the goblin he felled and dispatches it swiftly with a knife. He then quickly pats down the body.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

roger roger

Bahram turns on his heel and exits the way they had come in as Khaz moves out of the back door, letting out a shrill whistle as he does so. Shirin crosses his path at speed as he meets the track.

Ride(Swift mount): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Boom!

Grabbing the reins, Bahram swings himself up only the saddle and the two make off after the Hobgoblin. Calling The creature out (Far Challenge) Bahram looses an arrow.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 = 11

Ok, depending on how far away the goblin has made it, Bahram has modifiers to his hit roll. If Shirin is double moving it's +1, if she is running then it's a -2. I don't really have a good idea of the lay of terrain outside the building. If my idea of what is possible is just well out then my apologies.

"Jin ursin!"

Bahram stares down at the acid splash as it fizzes, imagining what it would have done to his flesh.

"Come on, we need to go"

Bahram is last out of the place, making sure everyone is out. Reuniting with Shirin he makes the provisions that are his to carry secure and then makes ready to move off.

Ready to move out

Bahram bustles past at this news heading straight for the trapdoor and tries to pull it open.

Just in case... Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

there were bloody footprints headed in weren't there? Were they Oreld's?

Move to D8

Bahram, seeing the bomb catch Khaz and hearing shouts from within, bustles forward and ducks into the building proper. Lifting his bow he looses a hasty shot at the slave taker

Bow shot at the gobo
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Critical Bonus Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Move: A10>A11>B12>C12
Standard: Ranged Attack

Bahram, though Shirin is left with the non combatants, uses tactics the two learned together. Loosing arrows on the move.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Brunner probably provides cover so +4 to AC of Gobo

Bahram moves to the edge of the building, bow drawn.

First goblin he spots coming out gets a surprise arrow to the face... or in that general direction at least.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The two archers draw Bahram away from the door, he can hear Brunner's gutteral voice from within anyway.

"You carry those bows in hands that love them. You can fight. As A run here says, head to the bridge. Defend it."

Bahram grabs Shirin's girdle and takes a moment to check the belongings he left with her and sort her saddle and saddlebags. Then he moves cautiously away from the smithy looking for enemy threats.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

"We must move on, now."

I don't think Bahram took any damage or used anything up (or achieved anything really! :( )

[whisper] Psst. Arun, tell him he can't flank an elemental... ;p [/whisper]

Bahram drops to his haunches and reaches into a old in the sash about his waist, withdrawing a couple of fine lengths of metal. Setting to, he focuses all his attention on the lock before him

Disable Device (Skill - ACP): 1d20 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 5 = 8
DD suffers an ACP?!

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Unless the Perception check reveals something interesting...

"hobgoblins bir to'plamoq ingichka havodan paydo bo'ladi va ularning asosiy do'st Maslahatlar off ular oddiy emas, deb. Siz aytmayapman!?"

As he heads for the post door (The single door) at a pace Bahram drops his shoulder and charges...

Bull Rush?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Don't know if Bull Rush was the appropriate mechanic but it felt right. I haven't counted any charge bonuses as I don't think I have the angle so it's move:standard

Sorry, you're right, just move me as far as possible.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 5 = 15

I'm getting the same thing as Arun with the map. We have 14 letters for 13 columns.

Suprise

Bahram lifts his bow and looses an arrow into the unsuspecting foe...

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

First round

...Just as Khaz barges past and lays into the hobgoblin. Seeing that the dwarf seemed to have it in hand. Bahram rushes forward to the smithy door. Double move should get me to F6

Bahram's quite fond of her himself; she's the only other person he's met...

Sorry, despite GM's very clear instructions I managed to feth that up. Edited my post, shouldn't affect your post though Brunner.

"We go fast, we go quiet. We take what we can, we get out. Dangasa ilon o'lsa!"

Bahram pauses, eyes the vial Arun gave him, then knocks it back before nodding his thanks.

"None of us will pass for Goblins surely? The town is a circle. We go around. Maybe form two groups, meet at the bridge."

I assume the horses are stabled beside the tavern? So one group hits the smithy for rescue and explosives then heads for the bridge, the other geoes >C>D>E>Bridge? Aubrin and any other casualties can be carried on the horses?

With a rumble Bahram rolls over and pushes himself up to his feet

[ooc] 3HP Thanks all[ooc]

"We need to get out of town."

Fingering his now bloodstained and cut up clothes Bahram scowls and strips his top off.

"But first we need to find friends. My Shirin, Kining..."

Moving back to the table the big Kelishite begins what seems to be a ritual of arming. Under armour, steel plates, a bejeweled scimitar strapped to his hip, a wooden shield across his back, and finally a plain bow strung and arrow nocked.

In a few moments a grim warrior stands before the group, gone is the jovial foreigner.

I'll go in with Arun on that roll if I may
Know:Local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

As the heavy stool comes swinging down Bahram catches sight of the fleeing merchants and curses under his breath

The gods only know what's waiting for them out there

"Jet! You have 20 seconds to gather anything useful, then you're coming with us. Same to anyone else. We go together. Somebody help the cleric."

Damn, Sorry, thought standing from sitting would be easier than that.

The turn can stay the same, I'll just save the attack until next round (unless you'd like me to re-roll it) so it becomes a double move.

Bahram has 'catch off guard' as part of his vow, a chair suits him just fine!

BAR FIGHT!

Bahram is unarmed and unarmoured, his kit will be spread between a pack that he is carrying with him and Shirin's saddlebags. I would indeed like to know where the stables are?

This is not Bahram's first rodeo. As his instincts kick in he is up out of his chair and moving toward the nearest intruder

"Your hobgoblins seem to be a little closer than you thought."

sliding over a table Bahram grabs a chair and swings it at the hobgoblin.

Move to H10, swing!

The chair!: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

I've modelled the stool as a greatclub, let me know if that's not gravy.

"No Sir and no Knight, smith. I am a soldier."

As though this is the only definition required

"You may call me Bahram. I am summoned to Tamran. I do not know why but I know I will be returning this way soon. My heart lives with my muster. Sarenrae himoya."

I'm UK too. But my sleep patterns are a little stretched at the moment so my posts can come at any time!

Taken somewhat aback by the dwarf's rude refusal of his offer of a drink Bahram none the less takes a seat beside the motley group. He beckons over a server and requests another glass of the wine he had had earlier and, as he waits for the order listens in on the conversation.

"Ablah ko'pik"

He mutters under his breath at the mention of the Molthians, none of those present understand Kelish (I don't think?) but the look on Bahram's face makes the translation clear enough, he is not a fan.

As talk turns to the authorities and reporting the hobgoblin sighting Bahram speaks up once more

"Make your reports. Do not expect Action. The suffering of the people is silence to the ears of authority. The people must trust to the strong, and the strong must cover the people with their wings. i am moving on in the morning, I shall look for hobgoblins as I travel."

Once his drink arrives and talk turns to dwarven strongholds and familial obligations, Bahram's attention wains. His eyes drift into the middle distance and his thoughts turn to Haaro and the others he had left behind. So distracted is he that he entirely misses Brunner's jibe at his 'pet', probably a good thing.

Thanks GM!

I was originally intending to request an Artisan as a leadership cohort at level 7. But given the amount of crafting flying around I'll have a rethink :p

Introduction for Bahram

Spoiler:

Bahram exits the tavern and catches the sound of ringing metal in the air. With a whistle Shirin is at his side and he runs his fingers through her mane as the two walk toward the forge. As he turns a corner he spots a pair of dwarves hammering away.

"Salom. I am called Bahram. I am told to look for Kining, for word of the quality of her work precedes her. My friend Shirin here is in need of a shoe. Maybe a full set if you have the time. I have heard great things of dwarven metal, they say it is the best outside of my homeland."

Bahram looks to the two dwarves expectantly

OK so I see it going down like this: Bahram has his horse shod and then does a little provisioning as he has ridden hard for over a day he arranges for comfortable stabling and heads back to the Taproot to see his new friend Jet where he meets everyone. I'll pick up from there so we are not delayed, but I'm more than happy to RP through the other stuff.

Bahram steps into the bar and recognises one of the dwarves from the smithy drinking and carousing with some more out of towners.

"My sincerest apologies for interrupting your merriment friends but I have words for this dwarf. My thanks for your work. It is almost of a kind with Kelish work, I had only hoped for less. Shirin is happy, I am happy. May I fill your cup?"

Introduction for Bahram

"There's a blacksmith. Kining's her name. She does good work, but I would refrain from pissing her off."

Jet gives a surprised and then disapproving look as the man splatters drops of his wine on her recently mopped floor. She has no idea what he says, but she figures that it is something like-"I splatter drops of wine on your newly mopped floor to show I am superior to you". Boy...Kining is going to eat this guy alive.

She shakes the thought out of her mind and responds to the man's question. "One silver please. Here's to safe travels."

"Kining. Thanks to you Jet."

Bahram places two silver pieces on the counter

"Good advice pays twice."

Downing the wine and turning to leave the big man pauses and unties a silken cloth that forms part of his sleeve. He folds it loosely and places it next to the coins.

"From one traveler away from home to another."

With a hint of a smile on his face Bahram heads for the door.

Just wanted to post a little bit, I'll update with how I meet the party in the morning (its 1am here right now...)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Bahram nods his thanks for the complement

"I have never been to Varisia. With chance I will be gone before the town fills. I am only passing through to Tamran but the horse has thrown a shoe. There is a farrier in town?"

Bahram dips two fingers into the wine and, with a flick, spatters a few drops onto the floor.

"yo'q, do'stlar uchun havoga berilgan qismi"

Kelish:
"A portion given to air for absent friends"

The words are quiet but the barmaid can hear them clear enough. This done Bahram quaffs deeply from the wine

"Passable for a northern vintage. Thank you. What is the debt?"

How long in game time until everything kicks off GM (if you don't mind me asking) is it when the town is at its busiest in a couple of days? Or can Bahram plan to leave before then?

"Tabriklar!"

Kelish:
"Greetings!"

Bahram strides over to the bar and drops two heavy fists onto its pitted and stained but well polished surface. He is a big man bedecked in colourful silks that show the detritus of many days hard riding. There is a joy and playfulness in his eyes that is not reflected in his stony expression.

"I will have a drink of wine. Your town is busy. Business suits it well but is not normal, what is happening?"

Bahram's story is done, sorry for the delay.

------------------------------
HISTORY
------------------------------

Story:

Bahram was a low ranking military commander in the Keleshite military, operating mostly autonomously with a band of approximately 100 horsemen. That is until he was summoned to an audience with the high seer in Qadira. A great threat to the nations of Golarion had been foreseen in the future and Bahram was to intervene, the signs pointed to Nirmathas and so Bahram set off, with his men in tow.

After several weeks on the road they reached the border and quickly found themselves embroiled in running skirmishes. They eventually sought supplies in a nearby town but found the place in such a state that they remained to help rebuild and defend, forming bonds with the townsfolk in the process. Time passes, Bahram receives a summons to Tamran to report and, fearing that the town would fall if the Keleshites left, Bahram elects to travel alone, leaving his horse warriors and their allies to defend the town.

Bahram finds himself in Phaendar travelling through on his way to Tamran...

10 Minute Background:

Five concept capturing points
1) Bahram is a Keleshite military commander, his troops/companions are his first priority. The only exception is where this clashes with his oaths. Bahram treats his oath/order with religious fervour, the fate of the people outweighs everything.
2) He is a big man, people are often surprised by his grace and dexterity. He is happy to not be just as he seems.
3) Bahram believes in the superiority of Keleshite culture, he speaks Keleshite whenever practical and is disdainful of what he sees as the plebeian habits of other peoples.
4) Bahram is a militaristic follower of Sarenrae, his personal belief in her redemption remit is that this is redemption of the soul, not the mortal shell. He remorselessly dispatches fallen foes.
5) He has been sent to the Molthuni front by Qadiran seers who have foreseen a great danger. In the course of the war he was summoned to Tamran and, leaving his soldiers to guard a small town they had been protecting, made his way north, passing through Phaendar on the way.

Two character goals
1) To reunite with his band of warriors on the Molthune border.
2) To learn more of the threat foretold by the seers and act to counter it.

Two secrets
1) Bahram was the only one of his warband told about the foretold threat, at a private audience just before they left Qadira many months ago. He is not forbidden to tell others what he knows but, should he talk, he will be held responsible for any outcome of that choice.
2) His orders to return to Tamran were falsified by Molthuni agents. The day after he left, a force of Molthuni militia razed the town, forcing the remnants of his force and the citizens they could rescue into hiding in the Mindspin foothills.

Dramatis Personae
1) Ahrimo Bahram’s brother. Oversees the family estates back home. The two are very close and Bahram misses his council when away from home.
2) Karakt Half-orc inquisitor of Pharasma. A priest wandering Nirmathas. Bahram and Karakt have met a number of time in the course of the war and have a mutual respect and trust. Karakt has promised to support Bahram’s men while Bahram is away.
3)Haaro Haaro is Bahram’s second in the Kelish band. There is no man that Bahram would rather fight beside, his absence is sorely felt.

Three key memories
1) The meeting in Qadira when he was given his true mission. Bahram has mixed feelings about this. He is a driven man and thrives on having a calling, but until that evening he had never hidden anything from his men. This secret, which he sees as duplicity, sits heavy on his shoulders.
2) Taking his Oath. When Bahram arrived at the Nirmathi frontlines he was staggered by the deprivation, despondency and signs of depravity he found. After but a moment of introspection he raised his voice and made his oath.
3) Leaving Haaro, Karakt and his men to journey to Tamran. This tore Bahram up, but he understood his duty to report to his superiors.

…and a fear!
1) Spiders. Bahram is an arachnophobe

That's what I'm used to to be honest. It has worked pretty well in my experience.

It also stops the temptation to meta-game, shuffling player order to min/max combats.

Should work well with this group.

Just working on my story, be up in a couple of hours

Bahram is not a back line archer so much, he'll be hooning around at full pelt on his horse.

Any thoughts on what I should grab for my tactician trait?
