GM Mason |

Awesome post, Brunner!!
Brunner drops the unconscious hobgoblin before it is able to wake and harm the party.

Chirk Brillup |

ROUND 3
Chirk moves around the corner to allow Rusco to safely get behind him.
(move to L12)
"Rusco come to Chirk!"
After Rusco comes behind Chirk, he casts a healing spell on his spirit animal.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Rusco |

ROUND THREE
Rusco moves over to his master. As Chirk begins to cast divine healing on his magical fox, Rusco stands on his back legs and rests his paws on Chirk's shoulders. Standing like this, the fox comes to eye level with the Grippli shaman. He licks his master's face excitedly with his cold, ice blue tongue as the healing washes over him.
Rusco is now at 14/21 HP.
Bahram and JP are up. The leader is left. He is holding an unloaded light crossbow and is currently blocking the path.

Jean-Pierre de Suis |

Jean-Pierre, ignoring the flesh wound, 5' steps forward, and takes some more shots at the leader.
MW Mighty [+2] Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21, for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 damage.
MW Mighty [+2] Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, for 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 damage.
Better! :-D

GM Mason |

ROUND THREE
Jean Pierre steps forward and looses a flurry of arrows. Both hit the leader solidly and leave him looking like a hobgoblin pin cushion. Bahram looses another arrow that flies wide and then moves to a position that gives him cover from the leader.
ROUND FOUR
The leader looks significantly injured. The arrogance he displayed just moments before leaves his eyes as blood darkens his cloak from the arrow wounds he just received. He loads and fires his crossbow one more time before dropping the crossbow and fumbling for a whistle that is hanging from his neck.
Bolt: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3
The bolt sails past Jean Pierre's head. The hobgoblin is unable to lift the whistle to his lips before the party has a turn to stop him from alerting the goblinoid army that celebrates just a few hundred feet away.
Everyone is up again! Arun's summoned monster should appear and get an attack at the start of this round.

Chirk Brillup |

ROUND 4
Chirk moves forwards to get within range of his hex spell
(M9)
He hexes the hobgoblin with his evil eye.
DC 15 WS
"Chirk will hex you, dreadful hobgoblin!"
After he releases the hex, he commands Rusco to attack by a whistle.

GM Mason |

ROUND FOUR
Bahram has JP's luck now.
Bahram misses yet again. Chirk pops out from behind the bridge pillar and moves forward. He stares down the enemy with his creepy right eye! ;)
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
The hobgoblin succumbs to the hex and loses some of his physical defense. -2 to AC. Let me know if you were targeting a different thing, Chirk.

Rusco |

ROUND FOUR
Rusco sprints past his master and attempts to bite the hobgoblin.
bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Even with the hex, the fox misses with its attack (unless the summoned creature appears in a square that would allow the fox a flanking partner. Let me know Arun and I may change his movement.

![]() |

Arun hears the arrows thud home into the hobgob leader (well, JP's. He saw Bahram's efforts and assumed he was shooting at someone else entirely...). He finishes his incantation, and a shimmering glow of greenish light coalesces into a slavering attack dog at A6.
Sorry Rusco, no flanking. The spell completes before my action so has to be in my line of sight at the start of the round.
Turning away from Arun, it launches itself at the hobgob leader. Stats as per my profile, bottom section. 40' move to Q5, then 'smite evil' and attack attack/hex: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 2 = 20 damage/smite evil: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
As the dog engages Arun spurs his horse, Caleb, forward, to square O6 and attempts to daze the hobgob with a burst of light directed straight at its face Daze, DC14

Khaz Dourblade |

Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Khaz slammed his hammer into the ground and a wave of energy shot out, healing his wounds and those of his comrades. Still hurt, but now without potentially mortal wounds, he took off running (40ft movement) towards the hobgoblin leader.

Yes sorry

GM Mason |

Round Four
Arun's summon creature charges the Hobgoblin and bites him hard, but he is able to shake off the effects of the daze.
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Khaz calls on Torag and heals those near him. Please update your characters if you have not already! Thanks!
Jean-Pierre moves up next to Arun.
Brunner is up and then the hobgob.

Brunner Hammerfell |
'Blast, need to get to the bridge, it looks like that hobgoblin is getting ready to call for reinforcements and I'm too far away to stop him.' Brunner turns from the carcasses and sprints toward the bridge, reminding his comrades as he goes. "Remember th' plan, we need tae protect th' brig till th' explosi'es ur sit!"
Double move; please move Brunner to 'L7'

GM Mason |

ROUND FIVE
The hobgoblin leader moves away from the combatants 5' step. He raises the whistle to his lips and blows it. It lets out a high pitched shrill. He drops it and smiles at Arun. Almost immediately, the group hears wolves howling and shouts from the city. Turning, you see the outskirts of the now thousand strong goblin army turn and start pointing at you. A group of about ten warriors starts to move in your direction. They are about 300 ft away.
Kinning busts out of the guard tower carrying a large glass bottle with a yellowish liquid. "Get ur asses oer the bridge. Vane! Bring the stump remover." She moves up next to Brunner, obviously heading to the far side of the bridge.
The whole party is up! The race is on!

Arun, infuriated by the hobgob's call for reinforcement, spurs his horse to gallop past the hobgoblin ride to square W5 . As Arun circles the hobgoblin, his voice rises, his eyes seem to drill into his enemy's mind and he emits a wave of pulsing mental energy to crush his opponent's will using his arcane skills to intimidate intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Khaz Dourblade |

Khaz puts his hands on his wounds and breathes a prayer to Torag. CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Kinning responds, Someone kill that blasted hobgoblin and then everyone else get their asses to the other side. We need to blow the bridge before they get to it! Do any of you know anything about structure?"
Khaz will need to make a know engineering once on the other side. Those with with craft blacksmithing can roll DC 10 to assist. Kinning will provide a +2 as well.

Arun will contribute to the knowledge engineering roll using his blacksmithing, once the hobgob is dead. But I'll need some help with that...

Can I take 10?

GM Mason |

One second. Let's stay in rounds. I will say if the immediate hobgob is dead and the others haven't engaged yet that you can take 10. Let's see how long it takes to drop the immediate threat. :)

Bahram Alhazred |

Time for some more ill-advised Bahram madness!
Bahram drops from Shirin's saddle, knocking and loosing an arrow as he does so

ROUND FIVE
bite/evil eye: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27
damage: 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
The summoned dog's bite attack misses, but Bahram's arrow strikes true. Rusco's bite drops the leader just as Bahram's horse rushes and knocks the Hobgoblin's limp body over the edge of the bridge and into the water.
The large group of followers from the city make a break for the other side of the bridge with the party.
We will stay in rounds. I need to update the tokens on the map. I will do that in a bit and then you guys can take your round six action. Chirk had company yesterday and asked me to double move him.

Brunner Hammerfell |
GM Mason, you said that those with craft: Blacskmithing could help. Brunner took craft: Armor and craft: weapons to reflect his families background and of course to make stuff if possible. Can he also 'aid' with the engineering roll?
'The leader is down, I need to move to the other side. Brunner nods to Kinning, "Bidh mi a 'faicinn thu air an taobh eile nighean. Thoir dhaibh rudeigin a cuimhne."
He then turns and begins to run calling to the villagers. "By torag, rin ye fowk, we dinnae want anyain else tint tae th' goblin horde!" When Brunner reaches the far end of he bridge, he turns, axe and shield in hand, waiting for his friends.
still in combat rounds, if he 'runs' (speed x3) he should be able to make the 100 ft to the other side of the bridge. If not, double move him to 'T7'
common"By Torag, run you people, we do not want anyone else lost to the goblin horde."

Brunner Hammerfell |
Shoot, if I had checked the boards quickly, I could have added it to the other post. That's what I get for leaving my computer.
I think I may be able to help Kinning a little with the placement.' Keeping one eye on the approaching hoard, and the other on Kinning as she places explosives. Brunner occasionally calls out recommendations and encouragement.
aid another: using craft armor: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 I didn't drop he +2 for MW tools, I would still get my 'ten' for +2 aid

GM Mason |

ROUND SIX
Kinning, Brunner, and Bahram all double move across the bridge. Brunner leads the group to an advantageous position for he, Khaz, Arun, and Kinning to work. Vane runs alongside Kinning with the stump remover. He calls out, "Find the weakest spot on the bridge frame. It would probably be where the wood structure meets the stone!" JP moves across the bridge and gets in a spot where he has cover to defend the engineers while they attempt to set the bomb.
Rhyna and Kit carry Aubrin and lead the others further across the bridge. The original ten hobgoblins move 1/3 of the way to the bridge. Seeing them go, another twenty turn and start to follow them.
I'm going to go ahead and say it takes you two more rounds to get in position to move this forward.

GM Mason |

What's the hobgob in the water up to gm?
Dying! Your horse launched his unconscious body over the edge. ;)

GM Mason |

Knowledge Engineering take 10: 16+2+2+2+2=24
Khaz finds a good spot to place the bomb. He lodges the stump remover in the frame and then pours the accelerator over it. Kinning pulls out a flint and steel and starts striking it. "You all best be making yourselves scarce." She lights it.
1d100 ⇒ 2
2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
The accelerator flashes and catches quicker than Kinning anticipated.
Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Khaz, Arun, and Brunner need to make reflex checks!

GM Mason |

The accelerator flashes and flames engulf the engineers.
9 damage for Arun. 5 for the others near the bomb.
Kinning sees Arun drop. "We gotta move him. This things goinna blow! We've only got seconds!" She runs off toward the woods as does all the other townfolk.
The first ten hobgoblins stop running and start walking across the bridge. "What do we have here?" One of them calls out in a deep voice. "You thought you were going to escape us? Time to die!" They lick their lips and laugh as they approach with weapons raised.
The hobgobs are just starting to step on the bridge.
Arun needs a stabilization roll. Khaz and Brunner can drag Arun away. Please roll strength checks.

Khaz Dourblade |

"Cowards!" Khaz reached down and touched Arun, using up the last of his power.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
He then said, in a much quieter voice:
{Dwarven}"I'm faster than them, Torag has blessed me with that, probably for this reason. You'll never outrun them. Brunner, get the mage on his feet and get him out of here. No time to argue."

![]() |

It's not unheard of to witness a mage blown up in a furious firey detonation. Often the explosion might be the result of arcane experiments gone wrong. In this case it's the fault of poor industrial health and safety, as the demolition charge misfires.
Knocked insensible by the blast and bleeding out from a terrible chest wound, Arun likely owes his life to his Dwarven friend. "Urghh..." is all that escapes his lips as, healed, he rises to his feet. There's time for thanks later, he reasons, once we're away and out of crossbow range.
He lopes the short distance to where he tied Caleb whilst assisting with the demolition. Soothing her with one hand, he vaults up, and surveying the advancing hordes of goblinkind, spurs the horse to carry him (alongside Khaz and Brunner) away across the bridge to safety.
If the hobs engage Khaz in combat, Arun could pause to cast Sleep; but I'm very much hoping this this isn't needed. RUN !

Brunner Hammerfell |
'Blast, never will get used to the burns, and Arun's down, huh, Kinnings, running, never thought she would leave a friend, maybe she's leading the people away, that must be it.' turning to see what he can do for his friend, Brunner looks toward the goblin horde, then smiling as he see's Torag heal Arun. "Uill rinn Khaz!"
Grabbing Arun by the arm he hoists him to his feet. "'main 'en, boy-o. noo is nae time tae rest. khaz is reit, we need tae rin." Helping his friend, he heads towards the rest of the party as fast as he can.
As they go he smiles and tells Arun, "Whit th' goblins dornt ken, is Ah ainae runnin' frae th' barnie, aam runnin' frae th' s'plosion."
so, move action: helping Arun to his feet. Move action: runs toward the rest of the party
I just looked at the map, Is the rest of the party waiting on the opposite side of the bridge? Or in the woods? Obviously, it is Brunners intent to get Arun someplace safe, not sure where to call it :-)
common "Come on, boy-o. Now is no time to rest. Khaz is right, we need to run."
Common"What the goblins don't know, is I ain't running from the fight, I'm running from the explosion."

GM Mason |

Delay move after his companions, retreating with them. If hobs look like they will overrun us then engage them instead
Roger! So moving this round...very good!
Brunner: They moved away right as it was lit. They should be safe.
