I could tell you tales of the Orcs of the Severed Hand or of my time fighting slavery in Chelix. Those tales are both part of me. Aurelain watches the ladies go. He worries about them but knows they can handle themselves. Perhaps that way too smart bird will come back for help if the two adventurous adventurers get in over their heads. Finishing his cider he calls Another.

Gear stowed and secured, Aurelain returns to the main room and takes a seat by Thorn. He offers her a key.A room for the ladies has been secured. He notes with the offer. Now about that drink. Was there a cider in the house?
We will take the nicer rooms, since we are sharing. Aurelain reaches for his coin purse. Only one night, for now.
Two rooms will suit us dear lady. I'll deposit these things in one of them and rejoin my companions.
Aurelain gives a slight bow. Well met fair maiden. I am Aurelain. Might I have the pleasure of your name? My companions and I require rooms for the night, if they are available. I assure you we are a well behaved lot and intend to cause no problems for this fine establishment.
If Aurelain notices the beauty or disfigurement of the elven barkeep he does not show it. I'll take this load up and claim us some rooms. he states cheerfully. Order me some kind of cold cider if you would. Pear or cherry would be nice but apple would serve.
Aurelain takes in the two sides of the town. Hmm. Quite a set up for strife. I shall expect trouble and then I can be pleased if none comes. At the invitation for lunch Aurelain smiles a welcoming smile. Well that is a splendid gesture Master Gnome and an appreciated one. A fitting end to a fine trip if I do say so myself. I'll give Nicenzia and hand with the baggage and securing a room and will be back directly.
I can read the Draconic parts but this Elvin script is throwing me, likely just like it was intended to do. Aurelain complains.
Sorry for slow posting. My daughter got married last Tuesday in Colorado and then my mother had a heart attack Friday. She is doing ok and is already back at home, but these events have eaten all my time. I am back and on a regular schedule again.
I do speak Draconic. Let me take a look.
Aurelain adds The tatoo on the back of this one's hand, the sigal here. He turns the hand so that all can see it. It marks him as a slaver from a guild of hunters that track down escaped slaves from Cheliax. I would have killed him for his trade if he were not already dead. He adds coldly.

Aurelain will continue to cut these undead abominations down. He shows little emotion but says There seems to be a body there by the tree where these things are chained. Perhaps an earlier victim?
Approaching so only one of the undead is withing 10' of him Aurelain swings his pole axe.
Aurelain laughs as he studies the chains and what they are secured to. I can likely strike them down with this reach weapon. he states as he continues to close the distance.
Aurelain readies his Cold Iron bardiche and advances, making sure he stays between the treat and Swena and Thorn.

Swen is ready to hit the road. She walks up to Aurelain and Amed with her new pet bird on her shoulder, "Hey boys, look what I got. Jealous?" Oh, what a beautiful bird. What does it eat? I hope you bought food for it. Aurelain adds, genuinely trying to be helpful. Aurelain jogs to catch up with Svin. Mind if I take point with you and your new bird friend? And have you named him, let, or did he come with a name?
Hmm. This game has not been updating for me. Let me get caught up. Also, I'll be traveling from October 29 through Nov. 10 and will have limited internet access.
I too feel drawn to this gnome. He would be interesting to travel with. I am sure he knows much from his long life. And even though the way is rumored to be safe it seems we could do a small amount of good to travel with him, no? At the very least our group could distract him from the bleaching for a time.
I wanted to give an update that I'll be at Dragon Con this weekend and will not be able to post much if at all. And this weekend starts Wednesday for me. :) I'll be back and on a regular schedule Tuesday.

I too choose a caravan. If we can provide a merchant the security of our arms and sleep better at night due to a larger group then I say that is a good thing. Aurelain eventually gets around to dividing the coin purse. What does he find inside it?
It has been a swift and instructive voyage my good captain. Your company was a stimulating added advantage and I take pleasure in knowing we depart as friends. I think you for the payment and while I am glad no harm came to your ship I cannot help but wish we had had the chance to prove our metal in a fight. The fewer river pirates that survive the better/ He turns to his companions. We have coin for room and drink. But there might be more responsible ways to spend our time. What shall we do?
Aurelian graciously counters the offer for dinner. The stars on deck are magnificent. I propose we share the sailor’s regular fair, complimented with perhaps a glass of wine. I would enjoy your company so much more knowing that we ate the same fair you offer your crew. Otherwise my guilt at indulgence would spoil my evening. I hope you can understand.
Aurelain stores his mundane gear in the locker and tries to make himself useful to the captain and crew.
Smiling a Swen Aurelain prmoises I'll have a drink later. Right now it seems that drink seems to be this crews most recent problem. Lets help them load up and cast off. The sooner we are away the sooner we can feel that cool breeze in our faces.
Aurelain smiles back at the woman before turning to read the thoughts of the party. What say you? Are you crew of dunnage?
I do not mind sleeping on deck, or below good captain and expect no birth or board better than you give your crew. And I am not one to sit idly while others around me work. I do not expect to travel free but give me price based on that. And do not be forgettin that our team is agreein to fight for you and yours if there is trouble. We are a capable group and that is worth somethin to be sure.
FYI - I'll be traveling from July 4 though the 17th. I will have internet much of the time but not every day. So please bot me if I am holding up anything.
My friend has the right of it. Its passage we need, but we are good in a fight each and every one of us. And it seems you need the company of fighting men and women the now. I am Aurelain and you'll find me a fast friend if can take us. The half orc stands his full 6'6" in height and holds his clawed hands in front of himself, not to intimidate but to show he is not bluffing.
Aurelain prods the resting man. He smells of rum and worse. he announces. He is either quite hung over or still drunk, or both. he pronounces. Addressing the man he asks gently Are you with the River Runner? What were you celebrating?
"I'd do anything against anyone threatening my or my close friends' freedom." Aye, but would she tell you when you were in the wrong, or stop you from doing something stupid? Its easy to take action against a threat. But there is more to being a friend that that I am thinking. Aurelain says, but his voice is light and without challenge. Its a fun conversation to be sure, but lets be looking for that ship for now. We can pick this up later if you like.
I understand where you are Swen. But that's a dark way to look at the world it is. And it makes life's passing a bit lonely as well. Its true that some men are fickle. But its just as true that some are steadfast. Would you throw the good out with the bad? I'll stand by you because its right and good to do so. I need no more reason than that. And I'll call you friend if you'll allow it. He smiles a tusky but somehow handsome and bright smile. The way I see it you've nothing to loose trusting me. You either gain a loyal friend or prove yourself right if I betray you. He chuckles at the logic.
The blood rager looks thoughtful for a moment. We, each of us, gets to choose an outlook on life. Its a choice. I choose to trust you. So far you have not let me down. He says with a wink. Give it a try Swen. Trust me and see where it leads.
Aurelain smiles a wholesome smile at Swen as he adjusts his pace to match her's. If there is a fortune to be made, I for one intend ta have my rightful share of it I do. And I am thinkin that when the time comes for decidin, that we well be the ones in place to do that decidin. His smile is sincere and honest and sure.
A boat and some coin for riding it. I am likin the sound of this already. Its the River Runner for us I think, if they'll have us. Aurelains offers to carry one side of the chest with Swen as the group sets out. You don't seem as happy as I am with the start of this quest Swen. What's bugging you?
