Going to post a quick background. - Won't have time to work out the crunch till later today, but will do as soon as possible.... Asasha's background: Asasha had grown up in Kassen her whole life. Ever since her birth, 16 years ago she had been a quiet, withdrawn child, rarely joining in the games of the other children. Instead she used to sit quietly by herself staring into space or watching the other children playing, the adults going about their various tasks, or merely staring into the fireplace. She seemed to have a particular fascination with flame, and when given the job of lighting the fire in her parent’s inn, would spend hours setting the tinder and nursing the flames into life. At the age of 12 the accident happened, no-one was really sure what had caused it, all anyone knew was that, in the middle of the night Asasha’s father had woken and made his way downstairs, finding his daughter sitting quietly in front of the fire, her eyes burnt and damaged from some unknown cause. As he ran down to her she turned her head and seemed to fix him with her unnerving ruined gaze. ”The flame has chosen this one.” she spoke, and collapsed to the floor. Now, precisely four years later, Asasha still has no memory of that night, but she does know that the flame seems to call…..
Might try to get Asasha here into this. She's had a go before but the DM dissapeared. - Will review stats etc. if chosen. Would be very happy to alter Asasha's background too - especially to include the Dervish Dancer in place of "Zariah" (see background) Full info is in profile but background is reproduced here: Background:
Asashandra (Asasha) was born in the Shingles of Old Korvosa, overlooking the Narrows of St. Alika. Asasha's mother Elliantara was a Varisian who had left the wandering life since falling pregnant to Asaha's father, a member of the Sable Company who abandoned her before Asashandra's birth soon after their brief liaison. Elliantara managed to survive as an acrobatic street performer, bringing the young Asasha into her performances when she was old enough, who soon came outshine her mother. During this time Asasha was adopted, as a mascot and honourary younger "sister" of a gang of youths under the influence of Zariah, an older girl who Elliantara was being paid to train in the Varisian arts of dance, charlatanry and fortune telling and who lived nearby. It was in this gang that Asasha met the brothers Katalin and Kazital. When Asashandra was eleven, Elliantara was raped, beaten and left for dead by a group of men. Over the next few years Elliantara retreated into drink and Asasha became the sole provider for them both, continuing to perform on the streets with Zariah. It was during one of these performances, whilst Asasha was being held in the air by the older girl, that Zariah manifested her oracular gift for the first time. Zariah was swathed in flames which, whilst leaving Zariah unharmed, burnt Asasha badly across the neck and down the left side of her body. Consumed with guit, Zariah managed to get the wounded girl to a healer who dressed the wound and tried to heal her. Despite the healer's care the magical wound festered and left a large ugly scar which no one was able to heal. Following this event Asashandra ceased performing for the crowds, embarrassed by her scarring, instead tuning to burglery and pickpocketing, working the crowd whilst Zariah performed her dances. Asashandra continued to opperate as a petty thief until, at the age of sixteen, she was inevitably caught during an attempted burglery by a young man who, rather than turn her in to the Korvosan Guard, instead tried to rape her. Managing to wriggle free from the man's grasp, Asasha grabbed his dagger and sliced it across his face before escaping, and leaving him with a scar and blinding his left eye. Unfortunately the man was the son of a minor crimelord and one night, two weeks after these events, Asasha returned home to find her mother lying dead in a pool of blood and a group of toughs waiting to kill her. Managing to escape across the Shingles, Asasha was forced to flee the city, hopping a ship for Magnimar. Asasha survived for a while on the streets of Magnimar but, when the Jenivere came in to port, she managed to find a position as a cabingirl on the crew. Since that time Asashandra has been sailing on the Jenivere, acting as a lookout and putting her acrobatic skills to great use high in the rigging. Asasha is from Korvosa and works as a cabingirl aboard the "Jen" if she were an animal Asasha would be a monkey - she'd almost one already!
I'd like to submit Asasha (see profile) for consideration - she's a Rogue (acrobat) who was created for a pbp that died because the dm couldn't continue the game but i really like the character. Obviously i'd re-stat her with the stats rolled below and modify her background for the campaign (not much needed but i like to link in backgrounds with other PCs if appropriate). I am in GMT+10 (Australia) and can post every day, at least once but often more. I am running a Kingmaker campaign at the moment HERE which is up to 1213 posts. Background:

Managing to escape across the Shingles, Asasha was forced to flee the city, hopping a ship for Magnimar. Asasha survived for a while on the streets of Magnimar but eventually managed to secure work on a trading vessel working as a cabingirl using her acrobatic skills to scramble up the rigging into the yards whenever the sails had to be trimmed. The ship is now returning to Korvosa and Asasha is nervous about returning to her home town.
Appearance:
At first glance Asasha is unlikely to seem like a threat, she has inherited the dark hair and eyes of both her Varisian and Chelixian parents, and has the pale skin of a Chelixian although her soft features recall her Varisian background. Asasha is short (5'1") and slim but toned due to her years as an acrobat and thief, most people she meets assume that she is a good deal younger than her 18 years. Her black hair is roughly cut and short. Asashandra currently wears loose-fitting, typical street clothes of Korvosa, consisting of black boots and leggings, a long white linen tunic cinched at the waist and a blue fitted jacket. These clothes, combined with her small hips and breasts and her short hair, makes it easy to mistake her, at first glance, for a boy. Around her neck Asashandra wears a red Varisian scarf (pocketed) to hide her scaring. Asasha carries four daggers at her waist (and another two hidden in wrist-sheathes). She also carries her mother's kapenia scarf in her backpack. Unlike many Korvosans of Varisian stock Asashandra does not have any tatoos, although, when performing, she does decorate her face with red markings which, although meaningless, might be mistaken by those who know little of such things as Varisian symbols.
Personality:
Asasha is a light-hearted, playful tomboy. Despite having grown up in poor circumstances her habit of landing on her feet, both metaphorically and literially, has resulted in a reckless attitude and the impression that everything will turn out OK in the end. Asasha doesn't make long term plans, instead she takes each day as it comes and eagerly meets new challanges with a smile and a joke. Asasha is embarrased by the scars that run from her neck, down her left shoulder and arm to her wrist, and never intentionally lets these be seen by others. These scars have, however left Asasha with a fear of fire. A fear she does her best to hide and to overcome.

campsite: As the strangers draw closer Asasha moves to the side of the campsite, taking a place near the fire pit. Once there she pulls off her boots, and busies herself, pretending to repair one of their soles, and looking generally harmless. She watches them close in, ready for any sign of agression.

campsite: Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Awakening to the violent thrust of Jack's boot, Asasha climbs to her feet, rubbing her bruised ribs and giving the crude man a withering glare. Streaching cat-like, she begins going through her routine of morning exercises, streatching and contorting her body and loosening her muscles for the day ahead. As she finishes her routine she squints at the cliff-top above the Jen', covering her eyes with her hand to get block the sun's glare.... Look there. she says Does that look like it might be someone? A tall one and,... a dwarf?

campsite: "I'd be 'appy to join a scoutin' party," says Asasha with an interested smirk "a smaller group wouldn't be as safe, but might be able t' move quicker an' stay out o' trouble - 'specially if we packed light. It'd also mean there'd be someone t' keep an eye on th' camp so we could leave th' gear? I'd hate for sommin' to happen to it!"

Sorry for the delay - v. busy at work (holidays soon though!) I'd be happy either way as far as a new character is concerned. Some more healing'd be good but maybe a druid or a ranger would be handy given the situation? Clerics are always welcome though. explorers: Asasha peers at the surrounding terrain, hmmm.. something a bit odd about them birds she thinks to herself as Kieren speaks. Turning to the man she replies... "Sounds like a plan to me."
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Explorers: As the party make their way into the forest Asasha shrugs out of her fitted blue jacket, leaving it with the others back at camp, she leaves her light scarf wrapped around her neck but unbottons the top of her tunic. "Phew" She says, wiping her brow, "Its gettin pretty sticky out here.... Which way should we go? We'd probably be more likely to find someone else or a river or sommit if we stuck to the shore. What do ye recon?" Fortitude: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
"Well i'm always up for a bit of adventure" replies Asasha, smiling broadly, "Now that we've said goodbye to the "Jen" it's probably a good idea to have a better idea of the island's layout and i would like to know if there's any water around (no offense Kieran). I always like to have a back-up."

Asasha searches the cook's body for anything that might come in useful. That done, she returns to the deck where the other materials have been piled. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 "Well now," she says, "let's see if any of the small-boats are still aboard." If they manage to locate a small skiff or similar Asasha suggests they take it and their supplies back to the others. She also (time permitting) tries to salvage any canvas from the sails for shelters. If no small boats are to be found Asasha will take one end of some of the rope and return to the top of the cliff - hopefully this'll make it easier for the others and allow them to get the supplies to shore. Acrobatics (if required): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Asasha adds the new findings (with the exception of the boat in a bottle - unless its magical) to the pile. "I agree, but maybe it'd be worth looking at the carpenter's stores - There also might be other survivors. I think we need to make sure we don't leave anyone behind.
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
As her companions grab the supplies Asasha quickly and efficiently strips the first mate's body, showing a complete lack of shame as she does so. I think we should pile the gear up on deck and see if we can't find one of the small-boats" she says, looking up from her task. After that maybe to the captain's cabin? - It'd be good to get the charts an' the ship's log.
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
"Well he wasn't the nicest man in the world but i'm still sorry to see 'im like this" says Asasha as she points out the puncture wounds on the man's neck. see spoiler above What the hells do you think did that? Ahh, well i hate to do it but like the man says "The dead don't want for nothin'" With that she begins to strip the first mate of his armour and other gear. Glancing up at the others she motions to the other supplies,... well what're ya waitin fer? The ship's breakin' up as we speak. Grab the stuff.

Aerys Trajyon wrote: "Shall we go down and pay a visit to the ship's other occupant?" Aerys smiles brightly. "I take great comfort in knowing that whatever it is, it's at least small enough to fit within the Jenivere's hold." "Sounds like a plan to me,.. although the only things doen there must've crawled up from below somewhere or have been there since before the wreck. Asasha pauses, Unless there's another way in from up here? Anyway, soonest faced soonest fixed,... Shall we?
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Waiting on the result of Kias' fail but, once we're all aboard we need to get certain supplies. My suggestions: Rope! Carpenters tools from the ship's workshop, food, cooking eqipment (from the galley), water (which may be difficult if its stroed in large barrels), fishing gear, canvas (for shelter), the ship's log (to see if we can work out what happened, the ship's maps and navigation equipment (sextant, spyglass, etc.), any survivors, and booze (i need a drink!)
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Hmmm,.." says Asasha glancing at the difficult approach to the boat. "this should be no problem for me, don't know about you guys though? Tell you what, I'll take a rope over if anyone's got one?" With that she carefully pulls off her armour and stacks it in a small pile on the beach. "Maybe you should wait here?" 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 With that she starts to nimbly make her way towards the boat, dragging the rope behind her. (assuming someone's got a rope)
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Making way for Kieren next to the remaining bodies Asasha peers up and down the lonely beach, looking for any signs of other survivors. "What makes you think we were dragged? I'd say the tide's just washed us up. In any case, we need to see if there are any other survivors further down the beach, we need fire before sunset and frankly I could do with some food. I'm happy to try to get closer to the Jenivere and see about survivors and possible salvage. Might be able to get a good view from the cliff there. Anyone want to come?"
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Wiping her hair back from her eyes Asasha glances quickly around the beach. "Gods know what happened," she says "but we'd best see if these others were as lucky as us." with that she moves quickly to each of the figures lying in the sand, checking for any obvious signs of life. She glances up - "Any of you know anything about medicine?" Heal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 (untrained)
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Gritting her teeth Asasha steps in and slashes at the creature again... attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Confirm critical (attack 1): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
Asasha sways away from the creatures strike then takes a step to her left, putting her immediately behind it, opposite Kias (flanking position) she then slashes at it with her two knives.. attacks: attack 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 damage 1: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 (-2 for sickened included), sneak attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1 attack 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
(not sure if i should reduce sneak attack damage also for sickened? Not that it matters with those rolls!)
Female Human Oracle (Flame) 1
"The change in course?" Asasha replies as she wipes her mounth on her sleave. She then leans forward slightly and lowers her voice to a whisper. "No, I don't know anythin' about that. Between you and me some o' the crew are a bit worried. I've only been aboard since Magnimar but those as have been on the crew a bit longer say its not like 'im to change course without explainin' why."

Crew member and boarded at Magnimar On hearing the call to supper Asasha gave a smile, she knew that most of the passengers, and even the crew compplained incessantly about Cook's meals, but she had known far worse growing up on the streets of Korvosa. Patetiently the young girl waited for her relief to make his way slowly up to the crows' nest atop the Jeneviere's mainsail, it seemed to take an age and, as soon as he arrived she vaulted over the rim of the platform and deftly slid, climbed and then dropped to the deck of the small ship. Quickly she scirted her way around some busy deck-hands, slipping through the cabin door and making her way to the galley where her steaming meal waited. Without ceremony she jumped into her seat and began noisily slirping the greyish liquid, glancing around the table to see which of the passengers were joining her for dinner tonight.

Hi Guys, nice to meet everyone! - I'm always a fan of having background links with other players that extend backwards before the start of play - if anyone'd like to link backgrounds see my char sheet. Asasha is from Korvosa and has been working aboard the ship since Magnimar. (see my profile). |
