I think Anol might just ride off into the sunset. I'm low on time these days, and this seems like a good enough place to stop. It's been fun you guys! I'll keep my eye out if RL ever dies down a bit.

Anol answers the question of the Bearclaw/Human battle, "We saw them fighting near the mission after we were out of sight. As for the number of the hag's people that we destroyed, you'll have to ask someone with a better memory."

Edited Anol has the ore brought to the smiths as he's told. While in the area he does some trading for new magical weapons, armor, and a cloak. He also buys entirely new armor for Husom: mithral chain mail, he smiles at the sight when the large wolf is outfitted. Then takes his place among his comrades-in-arms for the feast.

Anol bows his head to the saluting hobgoblins as he rides in on Husom. The wolf whines and bites at his armor a bit, so Anol quickly finds an armorer among his fellow hobgoblins, and has the wolf fitted with new wooden armor that fits him better. During the level-up, Husom grew a size. Sold the old armor for half, bought new armor with size and unusual creature provisions. As Blound approaches, Anol tells his wolf to sit and wait. He answers his question, "We bring firearms, black powder, ore, and news: it seems Bearclaw and the humans went to war, each with magic, each destroying most of the other. It was an even match."
Male Hobgoblin Samurai/8 || HP 71/71 | AC 13 DR 7/magic or large | T 13 | FF 10 | Fort 9 | Ref 6 | Will 2 | Init 4 | Per +5
Anol thinks over the arguments being made and adds his, "If we're taking the guns no matter what, we need the black powder. As for the other supply, I agree with Mogwag that food and wood can be found, so we should either take the weapons if we need them or the ore if we can trade it for more than the weapons are worth."

Anol follows Husom as the wolf continues to sniff out his prey. Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 41d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 81d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 111d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Anol, having tied up his and Turgrim's robed prisoner, makes his way out to the main assault line. "I love it when a plan comes together," Anol grins a rare grin as he shoves the magic-user down in front of him. Hearing Mogwag's request, he says, "Not half as well as Husom..." with that he puts both index fingers in his mouth, turns toward the other entrance where Husom was left, and lets a loud whistle peal from his mouth. Before long, the wooden-armored dire wolf comes bounding into view and looks to be about to tackle his owner in excitement until Anol raises his palm to the beast. Husom stops short. "You wouldn't happen to have something of the dwarf's would you? Spill any of his blood for instance?" If so, Anol commands Husom to Track the dwarf using that item/bodily fluid, if not, the hobgoblin commands his mount to use his scent to track from where they last saw the target. This requires a Survival check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 Husom quickly finds the invisible dwarf's trail, and hurries after it. Anol follows, waving the others to do the same.

My HP and AC are current. Also, there's five non-PC members of the stealth team including a character Chilly called "the hunter" who is currently at odds with Turgrim. And you can find the general, vague layout of the mission on the link that says "mission map" up at the top.

Likewise! And even though he's greener (no pun intended) than the others, the two-front approach was at least partially Anol's idea, and he more or less lead the stealth group. That said, he's really more of a soldier who steps up in the absence of a clear leader.

Just in case we're keeping this going... Anol takes Turgrim's direction and chases the fleeing human into the temple, ready to shoot him if he's up to something dangerous for his troops.

Before Turgrim snuck forward, Anol whispers to the group, "Take the mages alive, the others are fair game. And remember, stealth is key to this operation." As if to drive home his point, he fires an arrow at one of the non-spellcasters at the bottom. Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Anol sighs, pats Husom, and tries to lead the rest of the stealth team over the gate. His first two footholds fail him, but after taking more time to look, he finds a hand-hold that he uses to bound up the gate in one pull-jump combo. Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 On the other side, he leads the lot forward stealthily, bow and arrow ready. He searches for his first target. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

I guess I was worried about the wolves, can they climb? Is the DC different for them? The Alaskan Department of Fish and Game seems to think that wolves can't even climb trees much less a gate/wall. Or are you saying we should climb over, and open the door from the inside for them?

Seeing the far tower ablaze, Anol sees this as their cue. He silently raises a hand and points it forward at the near gate. After this command, he waits for those more skilled to disassemble any locking mechanisms or traps on the gate, covering them with his longbow.

Hearing Runt's warning all the way from where he sat, Anol had a thought. "If any humans try to escape, let them." He continues, "We're here to make quick work of battle, not to slaughter cowards." More thought evokes another comment, "Unless they look like they use magic. We can't forget the chief's task."

Anol was going to ride Husom; even mounted, the wolf has a better stealth bonus than the samurai. Here's a stealth roll for Anol if I can't do that Stealth (Anol): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21; I agree with the stealth vector. As far as lighting up the wooden part, is it too far-fetched for someone to have at least enough alchemist's fire to light it up? I'll happily take it out of my gold if you need no more than 13 bottles.

Once everyone is strapped, Anol reminds the fire team that their goal is distraction, and that the fire doesn't necessarily have to break through the wall. "Runt, lead them on," he says with a toothy grin, handing her the banner, "Turgrim, let's go." Anol takes up the rear, bow drawn and notched as Husom makes his way stealthily to the side entrance. Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Anol sighs, having forgotten there was an army to command...he was not accustomed to working with others, much less a troop. "Both," he says loud enough so that he won't have to say it again, "Any of you who are skilled at stealth or ranged attacks," he looks around an thinks slim pickings, "Go with Turgrim and me to the side entrance," He points to the right side of the encampment, "The rest of you go with Warrok and Draxia to the wooden part of the mission where you'll start a fire to get in. This will get the fighters' attention letting us find our way through the side entrance unencumbered. Then they'll quickly fall having to fight on two fronts." He waits for any responses, having spoken with a decidedly unauthoritative tone so that they know it's just one idea from a battle-trained hobgoblin.

"These humans aren't fools, they know they are in an easily defensible position, we must move now if we hope to have any advantage. And the ones who planned to run have run; these left will surely fight." He hoists himself up onto Husom, draws his bow and looks to his comrades, "Who's with me?"

"Turgrim, I think you and the hunter are saying the same thing. We should wait until nightfall before we attack. I didn't see a good way in myself, but I like your idea Turgrim; set a fire and win distract. Since we don't know how to get in, I say we send a small group to the wooden part, get a fire going there, then the rest of us will be waiting under cover at the other end of the mission ready to break in and take them out little by little until they surrender or perish." Anol pats Husom once the armor is attached and secure. He the turns to Warrok, "Any intel your animal friends can provide would be most useful, especially if they can quickly tell us when the guard is changing at night. Avoiding bloodshed is no longer possible, the ones who stayed behind mean to fight us, I'm sure."

"Those firearms, they are unknown to me. I say we stay out here. Let them believe that they've scared us off, then if some or all of the humans want to leave, let them. We'll fight the rest, hopefully we stand a chance against those new weapons..." He sits down next to Husom, and affixes the wolf's wooden armor. Didn't occur to me during character creation that I could've purchased armor for the mount. Hope this is okay now, since I haven't been using it before...

When I Hero Lab'd Anol's section, I forgot to save the Dire Wolf Mount stats, and now I can't find them again. Where are they again? In the original recruitment thread? Could I get a link?

Anol collects the fallen objects and tries to hide with Turgrim. Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 I forget, are we doing encumbrance? If not, add 3 to the above. Also that roll is assuming we're in a hilly terrain

Sorry, I just got Hero Lab, and I've realized I've mucked up some of my character's stats. I'll move now with what I've found out and I'll put the corrected stats in my alias when they're finished, okay? Anol drops his katana, then goes for the bell, assuming the lantern will go out when it hits the ground. Attack (Unarmed, I'm assuming): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 The bell hits the ground, and rings presumably. Anol draws his katana, and brings it down with both hands on the prone guard. Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
