Bending over, Anevia whispers into Irabeth's ear

At the sight of the crusaders standing guard, Anevia smiles and hobbles forward on her crutch waving and calling out to the guards. Marcus, Sir James, you survived. Is Irabeth still here?

Calming down after a few minutes, Anevia returns to her house. I recognize the bastard, Vagog. Irabeth and I caught the demon worshiper months ago and put him behind bars. Good riddance, not he'll be serving his master in the abyss.

Quickly searching the small house, Anevia checks a hidden aclove, pulling out a note and a pair of potions. Irabeth says she's waiting at the Defender's Heart along with what is left of the Eagle's Watch, along with her mercenary company. They have set up a defensive position and are accepting refugees. The password is "Silverstrong."

I hate to ask this of you, but can you help me to the Defender's Heart. It's not far from here, less than a half-mile. I know the old inn, it's a solid building. Used to be a fort back in the first crusade.

At Verim's words, Anevia hobbles out the door on her crutch. Find out who's doing this and what they've done with Irabeth.

Even with a withdraw action, the elemental gets an AoO

Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Ducking beneath another blow, Anevia makes it safely out the door.

Still in shock from the image of her deceased wife, Anevia attempts to ward off her attacker with her crutch. Just stay away, get out of my house and leave us alone.

Total defense

Horrified at the sight of Irabeth's corpse lumbering towards her, Anevia staggers backwards, No, not you, please, not you too.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Irabeth, are you here?

Limping up to the door on her crutch, Anevia calls out for her wife as she opens the door. Irabeth, are you here?

Glaring at Horgus, Anevia elbows him in the side in response to his crude remark. You're fine dear, you are a far better dancer than I am at the moment.

Anevia also seems to relax, though she is still quiet and seems somewhat anxious as she eats her meal. Thank you for cooking tonight, Iomedea knows it has been too long since I had a decent meal. I just hope Irabeth made it to safety. Knowing her, she would have been right in the thick of the fighting. It's that whole, "First into battle, last out." code of hers. It's going to get her killed one of these days.

Surveying the city's skyline before returning to the sewers, Anevia is pale and visibly shaken by what she has seen. My gods, I never could have imagined such destruction. I don't know how anybody could have survived that. I need to get back to my house. If Irabeth survived, she will find her way back there looking for me.

Anevia shrugs at Maxwell's comment, It may take me a while to get up the ladder, but I am sure I will manage. It's Aravashnial I worry about.

Anevia goes pale at the woman's words, Irabeth.....

Reassuring Lann with one hand on his shoulder, Avenia grins. Kenebres is a city of crusaders, if anyone can stand against the abyss, they can. We need to find The Eagles Watch. I am sure they will be at the forefront of any resistance.

Limping up, Anevia scowls at Horgus' words. Only an idiot leaves a known enemy at their back. As much as we need to get out of these tunnels, we don't want enemies swarming up behind us. You are right about the trap though, Laris, I can smell it.

Does anyone know which way leads upwards?

At Chief Sull's words Anevia excitedly announces, This is excellent news. Irabeth and the Eagle's Watch, her company, can surely use all the help they can get.

Anevia laughs at Aravashnial's words, You are a conspiracy theorist Aravashnial. You just happened to get one right. I'm sure we can convince Irabeth, and she can present our information to the crusaders.

Suddenly growing somber she adds, If she or the crusaders have managed to survive.

When we get back up topside Mia, I will be most interested in meeting your mom. I'm sure we'll have a fascinating conversation.

Mia:

Avenia bends down to whisper in your ear, Don't push it too hard dear.

Avevia gasps at Laris' revelation, My god, Irabeth is still up there, with no clue that some of her fellow crusaders are traitors. She could be surrounded by cultists and never realize it.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Anevia shakes her head, Irabeith would be horrified if you called her a big shot. We've only been in the city for about a year. I just hope she's okay. She's always throwing herself into the front lines. She says she would be failing in her duty to less than her best.

A crusader? Me? No, nothing so grand. I just do odd jobs around the city.

Anevia, sitting on a fallen rock with her broken leg stretch out, listens to the exchange for several minutes before answering.

No Maxwell, most of us know very little about one another, even those who think they do. I'm nothing special, just an ex-thief who fell in with the right crowd. We all, except for him, Anevia points towards Horgus, have friends and loved ones in the city above. I'm sure we would all like to get back as quickly as possible. I know my wife is fighting on the front lines, if she's still alive. It's all I can think about down here.

Anevia points towards the tunnel, shaking her head sadly.

He went that way, the direction we were headed before we found Torag's Shrine. I know I'm slowing everyone else down. Maybe Horgus was right and you should leave me.

At Horgus' word Anevia's face becomes a mask of anger.

You're one to talk you arrogant toad. What kind of man is ashamed of his own faith. Are you really so afraid somebody might find out you love something beside just money?

Entering the cavern Anevia goes pale and gasps at the sight of the temple before grimacing and leaning against the wall holding her leg.

Sorry about that .... my leg ...

Avenia Glares at Horgus for a few seconds before answering.

It's not like you have anything to go running back for except your money. My wife is still up there.

Limping forward on her crutches, grimacing in pain, Avenia threatens one of the roaches with her shortsword but failing to hit it.

fighting defensively

Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

Pale, and with a worried expression on her face, Avenia Hobbles to her feet. I can manage with these she says, nodding towards her crutch. I just hope I don't slow you down too much.

Slowly working her way to her feet on the crutches fashioned by Mia, Anevia introduces herself. Thank you for the assistance. I'm not sure what is going on up there. Hopefully the crusaders can push back the demons. Hopefully, we don't lose too many this time.

By the way, my name is Avenia. I'm not sure how fast I can manage with this leg, but I will try not to slow you down.
