Round 1

Alexio rouses himself and goes after the nearest wolf. "I'll get this one!", he shouts. Move action: E, E and draw longsword.

Once he is in range, he thrusts his longsword at the wild animal. Standard Action: attack

Attack, power attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

I'm good with taking the early morning time. Hopefully, the sun will be up and I can see.

"That much is true, but we're not at the fort now. I just don't want anybody to get any ideas. We don't know if they have even been to Oleg's yet."

It may or not be useful, but Alexio is distrustful of those whose motives he is not so sure about. He'd prefer to receive the other explorers from a strength, while sitting as if this group were rulers over the stag fort.

Alexio confers with Kazz, Zartanna, and Raven quietly. "Perhaps we should not let them know about our success at the bandit's fort. We may do well to employ subterfuge."

"Even if you don't find anything, I have extra rations should we need them" contributes Alexio. "Although, if you come across a stag I would much prefer that to anything else."

Good point though, let's explicitly make sure we get supplies from the fort when we are there.

Alexio watches Raven summon her energies with a combination of respect, awe, and trepidation. Finally, he breaks the silence "Not how I would have done it, but effective none the less."

Later in the day he asks everybody, "Care to go on an expedition into the surrounding area? It would do us well to know the local territory."

Now that I think about it, can you order 2 or 3 potions of cure light wounds for Alexio? And, yes, he will go in on the wand. If you can front the cash, he will repay you when you get to the camp.

And, yes, we should explore the area surrounding the fort.

Alexio will save his part of the loot now. How long does it take to import stuff from Restov?

If there are things Alexio can do or direct to help with the rebuilding.
Also, searching out the surrounding area is probably a good use of his time.

Alexio agrees with Raven, letting it go only makes it something we have to deal with later even assuming it doesn't try to eat us anyway.

Alexio points to his bow and asks, "Can't we just fill it full of arrows? It can't get out of the cage and we have basically an unlimited supply."

Alexio would have no problem with staying at the fort and supervising some reconstruction, but he isn't big on actual manual labor. I'll add something to the other thread.

Are we planning on hiring some laborers or bringing construction supplies on or trying to build out of the local wilderness?

"Agreed, " says Alexio, "there is much to do now that the stag lord is no longer threatening these lands. We will need to move quickly, before word spreads too far, and solidify our position here."

I'm fine with a simpler sheet if everybody else is. The real goal is to track what loot we found and what happened to it. I can handle encumbrance and the like separately

"That certainly looks like a good start for our treasury, " says Alexio. "We could use it to refurbish the fort in quite high style, " he continues.

Not really sure what the next steps are. Stay here or look for other bandits to expel?

Alexio moves the fingers on his hand and looks at his arm where the wound once was. "Quite impressive, that was," he says with a smile. "I have no problem with you helping to take over the oversight of this fort on our behalf. Feel free to spend some time here regaining your strength while we rebuild the fort."

Alexio looks at the man with a combination of contempt and amusement. That wretch was locked up? I doubt that he could do much more than eat a bowl of soup., think Alexio.

Alexio looks at the man and thinks of a plan. "Obviously, the treasure is ours" declares Alexio. "That much is not a topic for debate. However, I'm curious about your healing. Demonstrate some prowess with it and you might be able to serve at our new stronghold."

Alexio draws his longsword and puts a gash in his left forearm. I'll take a point or two of damage if need be. "Go ahead, use some healing magics on me. I'd like a demonstration."

I'm aware that Alexio is playing with fire here, but this seems to be a quick way to figure out how dangerous or powerful the man is.

Alexio's noble birth predispositions show themselves. He declares, "I'll have nothing to do with any of the bandits, save Kenaniah, who helped us. The rest chose their lot in life and deserve nothing more than to be picked over by the crows. "

Intrigued by Akiros' re-offer, Alexio will engage about the monster. "Other than spending time in a cell, what does the monster do? Did it have a master among the men?" He will try to get close enough to observe the beast without getting it upset or agitated.

Alexio eyes Raven more cautiously now that he has seen the unexpected effects of the magic on Kenaniah. He jokes a little bit, "If I ever need healing, do be sure to tire yourself out a bit first."

Once they have finished trying to communicate with Kenaniah's spirit, Alexio relates what he found in the rest of the fort. "It looks like the bandits left in haste. The two horses that were under the watchtower are gone now, so we have to assume word of the fort's fall will travel. The bandits did leave some chests in what appears to be the Stag Lord's room, plus the gear on the bandits themselves and in the armory. I do think we could try to raise a force here and live off of the stored goods for a while."

Alexio tries to search the corpses of Auch, Dovan, and the Stag Lord after explaining the lay of the fort.

Alexio helps to survey the fort for stragglers or other treasure. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Once he gets somewhat close to Raven, Alexio looks at her somewhat sideways. "Yes, that change was unexpected. Is it permanent? It seems to have suited you well, at least."

"We've got a way out now if we want it, " Alexio announces.

Turning around to see who will go through the opening, Alexio notices Raven rising from the floor of the fort. "The hells? " curses Alexio as he tries to understand what he is seeing.

Alexio moves back to the narrow point of the opening and sheathes his longsword. I will switch to bow next round and shoot at bandits until they get close.

So, we are staying and fighting then? We have been doing better than I expected so far, let's keep up the rolling.

Seeing the wall splinter when Dregan pushes against it, Alexio tries the same thing.

Alexio would have used Hithil's +1 last round.

Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

That's a pretty good roll, so I'm going to embellish a bit.

Alexio pushes hard against the broken logs and feels them splinter and start to give way as he leans into them.

"Agreed. Even with this frontage, the battle is not on our side. "

Alexio moves to the wall and tries to hack at it with his sword. It's wood, right?

Alexio backs up into the gap between Zartanna and the wall. "Get behind!" he says to the team members, trying to make room for everybody.

Alexio readies an attack in case any of the bandits get through the darkness and into sword range.

Attack, with power attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Can anybody do anything to help Raven? The loss of Zoufbal is acute now.

Alexio sees Kenaniah fall and thinks to himself He may have been a bandit, but he went down nobly. Perhaps he will fare well with the gods.

"Good plan, Kazz!" agrees Alexio. "Get everybody moving and I'll plug the gap. "

What Alexio is trying to do is let Dregan drag Raven into the group, then back up 5 or 10 feet so the walls make a funnel and reduce the number of bandits we need to fight.

When he is in place, Alexio readies his longsword to attack any bandit that comes into reach. Readied attack: Power Attack with longsword. 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9


Summary:
Move south 1 or 2 squares, depending on what is available. Draw longsword as part of movement if he has not done that already.


Combat action readied. Alexio also has an AoO available if a situation comes up where he can use it.

I can't see the map, either.

Alexio draws his longsword and grips his shield, looking for a defensible position.

"Look for an spot to defend and get behind me. If we can minimize how many bandits can engage at once it minimizes their advantage of numbers."

Ideally, we'd find a choke point and defend that while archers and magic users cast over the top of us. Another option would be to try to grab Raven and try to get back to the tunnel. Until I see the map, I'm not sure if that is even feasible.

Alexio looks on and grimaces when the blow hits Raven. I hope she knows what she is getting into, he thinks, then adds to himself, They are honor less bandits, so I could intervene without an issue, I think.

He continues to look on, hand on the hilt of his longsword while waiting for some manner of sign from Raven to intervene.

That's why I ask. I can see how Raven would have gotten the drop on the old leader under the cover of darkness and surprise. It's less clear to me how she would do in a straight-up brawl.

Alexio shifts his eyes around and tries to look at the rest of the group without being obvious.

That guy is quite large, he thinks, Does Raven need to handle it or can one of us do it?

Do we need to have a strategy discussion?

If Kazz' diplomacy appears to be unsuccessful, Alexio tries a different approach.

"Maybe you should instead try somebody your own size, unless you are too scared, " he says trying to look as large as possible.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Otherwise, he will try to intercept Auchs as he moves toward Raven.

Back after a rough 2 days. Agreed, though, we should probably not just attack this guy out of the blue. If the rest of the bandits turn on us, we are still way outnumbered.

Alexio tries to form a defensive circle with the rest of his compatriots. "That was unexpected," he says to the rest of the group, "Be ready for this to get ugly."

"Agreed, let's move and make sure Raven doesn't get overwhelmed " says Alexio.

I think that we should go up now. Alexio will open the trap door if he is closest, otherwise he will pour into the room as close to the front as is possible.

"Well, now seems as good a time as any for us to move. With some or most of the bandits being asleep, we should have an easier time moving around then when they are all awake," Alexio adds to help with the plan.

Alexio waits somewhat impatiently, not being able to add much to the search. "How close do you think they are?" he asks.

Alexio braces his shield and quietly draws his sword when it is revealed that there are likely people on the other side of the trapdoor.

"Ready when you are, " he says quietly.

Two questions: Does the door open up or down? and is/does anybody need to carry a torch? Alexio could do that if necessary.

Thanks for taking care of the rolls for Alexio. He's not very good at stealth or darkness.

Alexio tries to keep up with the rest of the group and not wake up the countryside with the creaks and clanks of his armor. When they are at the plank, he tries to look for oncoming lights or noises.

Alexio shrugs when Raven declines the offer of additional escorts. "If the lady doesn't think she needs any additional escorts, I won't stand in her way, " he declares.

I think the plan is everybody but Raven and Kenaniah go to the secret entrance.

Alexio contributes his thoughts to the plan. "Agreed, Kenaniah would increase our chances of getting through the gate. "

He then lowers his voice so only the group can hear. "I still do not completely believe Kenaniah is on our side. We should send somebody else through the front door to keep Raven from being alone should things go badly."

"I think, " says Alexio, "it would be smart to check the lower area that the elf's ... companion... found. Many fortifications have secret places that are designed to allow people to escape. We may be able to use that to our advantage."

Alexio listens intensely to Kenaniah's response.

Alexio frowns a bit. "It seems this stag lord is a capable tactician as the fort is set up very well. If they can raise an alarm, we can be trapped in bow range from those towers."

Did we bring Kenaniah with us or is he back at camp?

I have no issues if we want to make the switch. There are likely lots of opportunities to run across a new character and get them in the party.

When it comes to what you do I like defensive spells, speaking strictly as a melee. We have lots of offense but not a lot of way to mitigate damage.

Alexio groans and stretches in the saddle. "As Raven says, I agree the Stag Lord isn't moving anywhere soon. I'm not sure that pressing on now is of any advantage to us. Having rested horses will be a boon if we need to leave while being chased."

I could press on or not, depending on what everybody else wants. There isn't a clear plot reason to wear out our horses, but I won't strongly object either.

Alexio offers an alternative. "Maybe we should look at the stag lord's camp ourselves before committing to a plan. At this point, it is closer to go there then back to Oleg's if Kenaniah is right."

I'm not sure which option is best. Open for suggestions or group consensus.

Alexio dismisses his actions without too much fanfare, responding to Zartana, "I did only what was proper, glad to see you are of a like mind."

"Agreed, if we can make this stag lord split his forces or send smaller parties, we will have an easier time than facing them all at once."

Turning to Kenaniah he asks, "Might you know of any other small encampments? Hitting a few of them might cause the bandits to spread themselves thinly."
