About Alexio Thraxas

Build and plan:

Current build: 20 points, 150GP starting wealth, 2 traits

Plan: 5 levels of Fighter, then Hellknight

Appearance:

5' 9", 175 pounds

If one were to think of a stereotypical Chelaxian, Alexio would likely come to mind. He has fair skin with a sharp, prominent nose and light eyes. Alexio's hair, which he normally wears shoulder-length, has a distinctly red hue. To compliment his rare hair color, Alexio typically wears brightly colored clothing and well polished armor.

Years of training have given Alexio a muscled frame. He moves this frame with some grace and balance. Alexio has been known to do standing backflips after winning wrestling contests. He is also well educated in the ways of the world, giving him the ability to interact with aristocrats, merchants, and royalty throughout Golarion.

History and Motivations:

At the height of Imperial Cheliax, the House of Thraxas controlled significant territories in what is now Galt. When the people of Galt rose up against the Diabolist influenced Cheliax, the nobles of House Thraxas had to flee. Eventually, the remains of House Thraxas ended up in Brevoy, where a Chelish bloodline did not draw unwarranted attention. The clan continued to shrink in power and influence over time until they had only a small city house with a single servant.

Alexio's mother took his red hair as a sign of great portent. She spared no expense, draining much of what was left of the family's wealth to give Alexio every advantage that could be bought. He went to schools on etiquette, tactics, riding, and swordplay. In theory, Alexio could run a kingdom, lead a regiment, defend a castle, or manage an estate. In practice, Alexio has had lots of training but little chance to apply the training in reality.

Ever since he was a baby, Alexio has been raised to believe that he is the one hope of the line of Thraxas to regain its place as royalty. He is proud of himself and his family and unquestionably dedicated to them, to the near exclusion of all others. His only goal in life is to return the House of Thraxas to nobility and he will do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Alexio knows that while conquest may be able to give an army control of an area, it is ultimately laws and government that keep people in power. He will not break a law or his word unless he is absolutely sure that he can get away with it. Within the confines of the law, he is cruel and unyielding, always seeking the maximum penalty for crimes or for maximum compensation if he is on the winning side of a decision. He will also not tolerate scoundrels, liars, thieves, or gossips as he does not to be associated with their reputation. Trained from a very young age in the expectations of nobility, he is as polite as and proper possible, even when fighting or dealing with enemies.

Background:

Twenty years ago, a flashback...
The sound of a baby crying can be heard in a plain but well ordered bedroom.

"My lady!" exclaimed a Chirurgen, "It looks like fortune has smiled on House Thraxas. It is a boy and he has red hair!"

"It is about time this house sees some good luck," replied the woman. "I will see to it that this is the start of our rise back to our rightful place in the world. Soon, the name Thraxas will inspire respect from our countrymen and fear in our enemies as it has in the past."

Twelve years ago, a flashback...
Alexio sat on top of his charger, bedecked in pennants and heraldry. The horse moved slightly, taking small steps back and forth.

"Hold the reigns still and the horse won't move!" yelled the knight errant.

"But the horse keeps getting startled!" whined the boy, Alexio.

"If you can't control a horse in a summer day like this, how do you think you will manage one in battle? Perhaps you would prefer to be a foot soldier?" teased the knight.

"Yessir," exclaimed Alexio, "I will keep with my lessons until I can ride a horse in battle!"

Eight years ago, a flashback...
Alexio turned the page of a large, elaborately bound book. He turned the pages slowly, digesting what was written on each page. After he finished a thick chapter, he sat back in the chair. One day, my name will be in the annals of House Thraxas, and I will be the one to return us to greatness.

Five years ago, a flashback...
The Swordmaster put the grip of the sword into Alexio's hand. "Grip the sword firmly, but not so hard that your arm will grow tired over time." he instructed.

"Like this?" Alexio asked.

"That is a good start," encouraged the swordmaster and he continued "Now, swing the sword continuously and keep the tip moving. The weight of the sword will do the work."

Three years ago, a flashback...

The Marshall brushed his large mustache out of the way before moving some pieces on a scale map of the countryside. "You are now surrounded. What do you instruct your troops to do?" he asked.

"Well," replied Alexio "I suppose there are two options. I could either hold position and wait for them to attack or I could take the initiative and hit them first."

"So, which will it be?" asked the Marshall.

Alexio responded, "My forces are outnumbered so if I wait for them, they will attack with superior numbers and on their terms. I think I should charge with my cavalry while their skirmishers and archers are spread out across the hills."

"Very good!", replied the Marshall, with a smile. "That is exactly what Baron Von Horstmann did and he won the campaign convincingly."

Last year, a flashback...

Alexio pointed his finger at the stranger. "This man has wronged me! I demand satisfaction," he exclaimed.

The man raised his hands in front of his chest. Then he stammered, "G-G-G-G-Good sir, I meant no offense. Surely this is a misunderstanding!"

"Mistake or not, the offense is real," Alexio retorted. "Draw your steel and make ready or die in infamy."

The man continued to back up and held his hands wide, at chest level. "Surely, you can't be serious. I can compensate you!" begged the man.

"Oh, I am as serious as you will find!" growled Alexio, as he drew his sword and swung it in a wide arc, cleanly decapitating the man. After a quick pause, Alexio added "And now I am satisfied."

Today...

Alexio sat on a low bench in the lowest room in his house, inspecting his equipment and fixing minor issues. After a few minutes, he walks to the door, bars it, and moves to the center of the room.

From under his shirt, he draws a chain. On the chain is a red pentagram. Alexio falls to his knees and mutters silently in Infernal. Asmodeus, you have saved the country of Cheliax with your strength. Let House Thraxas also follow your example and spread your influence and order through the world.
