We could use pitons and blankets to cover up the holes in the floor (to keep us from falling too far), and there was a grappling hook in the equipment room - did anyone grab it? We could hook it on a lower rung, knot some rope, and climb that way.

Akio accepts the katana gratefully, feeling the heft and balance. Then, almost as an afterthought, he hands the dagger back to Masumi. "I think I'll be fine without that, now that I've got this beautiful blade."

Once he's secure in his armor, Akio brings up the subject of weapons. "If we're to fight more creatures like those shadow-ghouls, Masumi and I, at least, will need weapons that we can use to harm them. I suggest we go in search of more rooms like this one."

Any response to the earlier question about whether the armor check values included masterwork bonuses, or whether the non-magical armor was masterwork?

Akio returns to the magical o-yoroi armor and begins to don it. (Unless anyone else wants it, that is)

Akio grunts in pain as the shadow-ghoul lays into him with its claws, then screams as it sinks its teeth into him. He feels momentarily weakened, and his vision dims, but it does not go altogether.

Seeing the creature disposed of, Akio nods. "Let's each of us that choose, wear whatever armor they will, then continue on and see if we can arm ourselves better than with these spears."

Sorry, was without a computer for the day...unplanned, but I'm back now.

Akio looks at the suits of armor and nods. Armor...I hadn't realized how much I missed it, but seeing these now...I think I'd feel much more comfortable wearing it than not. He walks over to one of the sets of o-yoroi armor and, after Masumi has confirmed it is clear of traps, begins to inspect it more closely. Check the straps and the fit - ill-fitting or poorly maintained armor can be more of a hindrance than a help.

Once Akio lands, he curls himself into a ball in the corner. Eventually, though, his senses return and he is better able to handle the situation.

"Sorry...not sure what came over me. I'm...better now. I can't see much in the way of details...it looks like I could climb out, perhaps."
