So my rogue just died... sad face. :-( But this gives me an opportunity to make a new character... happy face. :-) Heres the deal, its a 3 person party. Two others are an inquisitor and a drood. We get two traits from the core rulebook, and are level 6. I rolled for stats and got. 16 16 15 15 14 13 Was looking at barbarian, but also wizard or sorcerer. But i can never make up my mind about anything. And input on what classes you think we need would be awesome.
Trait Conspiracy Hunter: You’ve long heard rumors of dark
Following the mission set by the House, Sili seeks to find the reasons for and why Cheliax has become what it is today. And is determined to solve these problems in any way necessary in order to return the city to its past splendour
Siliquai Female / Human / Investigator (rogue) Backstory: Spoiler:
Born into a noble household with a life most would dream of, Siliquai always sought adventure and intrigue. Though, this was not the life her father had planned for her. She was to marry and bear him grandchildren.
During her upbringing she spent most of her time in study, or taking dancing or singing lessons from one of her tutors. Sili had a particular knack for mathematics above other subjects, although her true love was for dance. One night when Sili was 16 she was particularly upset about her fathers plan, her mother entered her room. She handed Sili a small purse and told her if she was to seek the life she dreamt of now would be the time. By morning she had left the house with all she could carry, she made her way to the docks and managed to buy her way onto a merchant vessel using her charm and some coin from the purse her mother gave her. The vessel took her to a foreign land, filled with excitement and alien experiences. Because of her lavish life before this time, she soon ran low on coin and things started to look grim. She thought she would have to travel home, and begin her life as a wife. At that point a man approached Sili. He simpathised with her, and made her an offer to join with him. 'The House of a Thousound Faces' as they are known, is a group of anonymous rogues, spies and assassins that seek to bring about freedom to all those who would be oppressed. Though their actions may be fueled by the best of intentions, sometimes their methods would shock outsiders if they were to know the organisations activities. The House believing that an act of evil being used to bring about a greater good, to be well worth the price. Her first assignment as a novice member has been to travel to Cheliax, a once beautiful and prosperous city and search for a means to bring about the return of the city's once great stature. Appearance: Spoiler:
Sili Stands 5'4' tall. She is a thin and beautiful woman of 18 years. Dark brown hair tied back with a small section of long fringe running down the right side of her face. Her eyes are of a soft blue, her skin is pale and soft.
Sili always takes care to use soaps and perfumes to keep her presence as appealing as possible. She is known to wear beautiful garments and pieces, but during travels she wears a simple but well made outfit of dark blue (almost black). It includes a hood with flaps that hang down that may act as a scalf in colder weather. Lucky Dice: 1d20 ⇒ 18 Thatll do, im tired. lol
Just tell them that they can only create items listed in the core rulebook etc. If he wasnt shocking grasp, cast it. No way a weapon would be +5d6 and only cost 5000gp, thats rediculous. A Flaming weapon is 1d6 (or whatever it is). Expending just mean its used as if u cast it, so scroll dissapears etc. There is a feat i believe which allows u to create items without having the spell, but increases the spellcraft (i believe, this is from memory sorry if this is wrong). Ultimately, if you think soemthing sounds too good to be true. Then it probably is. In the end you are the DM and you can alter things to your every whim, and if they wanna make new items and ur ok with that. Just look at items of similar power and ability, and look at their costs. Hope this helps
Refer to movies like, 'as good as it gets.' OCD to the max. But on the other end where this character was harmless, there is also the reverse where some might see certain people as a threat based on nothing. Perhaps a previous foretelling of their doom to a certain race/culture for which that have now waged a secret war. Or for funny things, quirks of sheldon cooper from the big bang theory. Im assuming you would like a mix of, strange, funny, and demented. Because it will be a new world, there will be all kinds of people.
I personally would try and see if you could get a redo on stats. Having a 3 is very bad, anything with strength draining effects is gonna have a field day with you. But this is something to bring up with you DM. I have used craft and profession to gain insight into certain situations. For example, my ranger had profession engineer. Which i used to set up a mechanical trap, and to repair catapults for a siege event.
Alignment isnt so black and white. Ie, evil can do good acts, and good can do evil acts. I personally am a fan of the evil character with good intentions, but will go about things in a different way. Ie, not have a problem with using torture etc to aquire information, or perhaps seeing a few people dying for the greater good as an acceptable sacrifice. Realistically, i dont see alignment as important as just creating a rich character background. This is more important in describing why your character does something, than oh, im chaotic neutral, so i have to do this. or wouldnt do this. etc.
Are you talking like chapters from, for example, kingmaker, council of thieves etc? I personally write up my own stuff in chapter format, where each chapter is a sort of mini adventure in the whole campaign. Or a specific place. Playing time really depends on the play style of the group, my group actually spent an hour in an armourer last night lol. Based on a quick section of council of thieves i ran, you could make it through the first book in a night potentially. But as i said, different groups do different things at different speeds.
Started a campaign recently, and im getting the feeling there will be plenty of undead. My question is, how do we (a party of a druid, inquisitor and rogue) deal with such enemies? As the rogue i feel useless, with a dagger and a hand crossbow as my main weapons im pushing d4 damage with no sneak attack.
My recent campaign involves a LN Inquisitor of Iomadae. He says his mission in life is to destroy evil. My rogue is of LE alignment, the inquisitor is convinced that if he detects evil on me and finds i am evil it is in his nature to kill me. This to me seems rediculous, almost as if he thinks he can kill me without any issue of alignment or religion etc. My question is, how do i tell him he doesnt have to kill something just because of its alignment. That seems 'unlawful' to me.
I will soon begin a campaign organised around a city. This is very exciting for me, as ive been looking at more social based characters and cant wait to try one out. Personally, i love the flavour of the master spy. The idea of amazing infiltration, taking on other personas etc, it sounds awesome to me. My question is, the rogue/bard debate, i like the idea of a more rogue based character but the skills and spells of the bard is also hard to walk past. I have access to the Core Rulebook and the APG. 2 Traits from the APG are also allowed. Starting at level 3 with rolled stats as follows. 18
Leaning towards human at this stage, for the feat and for +2 to chosen stat (open to other suggestions), another thinking for human is, common race, easy to disguise. I want to have a few backstories written up for other names my character will go under, for example, a dancing teacher, a cook, a tailor, etc. Each with their own minor background and personalities etc. Im after suggestions on anything, as far from left field as they may seem. Cheers in advance
Would there be any attacks of opportunity? the only time a character or npc could attack is if a- they caught up and managed a trip type attack (look at an ankle tap) b- if the person being chased took a wrong turn and was cut off or trapped c- if the person chasing had a movement advantage I would recommend allowing an attack after running, but with negatives to hit. as they are expelling most of themselves on the actual chase.
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/mastery/chases.html Use those rules if you are so inclined to have someone being chased, after running from a situation. Depending on the situation, alot of creatures might find the chase to be too much effort to continue. I mean, just because something could run full speed for x time, doesnt mean it will.
Hey guys, just had an idea and wanted to see if anyone had used to tried out something similar, and how it went. The idea is, that not every situation awards EXP but can award something else. For example, dealing well with a social situation, permanent bonus to bluff/diplomacy/etc Or minor feats for, 'practising' Any thoughts welcome
Id say first of all, do you want to be of the typical Black Dragon, or run it in a different manner. Ie, bad turned good (or better). The d&d book Draconomicon gives a great description of all the dragons as well as samples of each at different ages, with descriptions of the character. (my fav book i own). "Black dragons are among the most evil-tempered true
"Black dragons dine primarily on fish, mollusks, and other
Thats a couple exerts from Draconomicon. Here's a couple sample ones. "Eliinwyluwyther
"Iyriddelmirev
Hope that helps, and isnt too much info. But i love dragons and that book.
Name: Torvael (working name)
Worked as a spy/bounty hunter for the government. He was raised by the government, ala ward of the state. However, upon discovering documents from an enemy of the state and reading them, Torvael has come to realise that the iron fist rule of the government is not in the best interests of the realm and now maintains his position, but works to undermine the government from the shadows. This is what one of my players wants to use as background, i like the idea but i dont think its a great idea for him to be 'in' the government. Perhaps hired every now and then for odd jobs? What u guys think? or could it work? Im about to start the campaign and asked them for a background.
People come to places of trade. I dont imagine you would need the 'leadership' feat to begin with. But to rule its good to have cohorts. In my view, ideally u want to find a place by the sea thats close to alot of different supplies. Somewhere with little development, but isnt out of the way of normal trade routes. And just start with a dock and a couple little things. In time, with money and trade by urself and friends, people will begin coming more often.
havent read these books. but i had an idea where as a player would level, its powers in a secondary chart (unknown to the players) would grow. little things they would notice changing, and learn in the end to control. My idea was, as they leveled they each became more like an elemental of a type that suited their class choice. For example, a fighter/barbarian would take earth. Would gain strength and constitution, the ability to move earth etc as the levels grew. Id say soemthing like that, but suited to your idea of the info. that way if it levels with the players it wont be heaps op at low levels. and at high levels just bump the CR of encounters up.
