The little wasp buzzes around the vile creature, trying to distract it from hitting it's master. Acharn tumbles underneath the creature, trying to avoid it striking at him as he moves into position to flank with Masdok. Once in position the elf jabs out with his rapier, striking at the vulnerable backside of the creatures.

A will save of 15 might be enough to save against the hold person, so you could post what you wanted to do if it was enough? Then bluedove could just resolve what actually happened. How are you getting +8 by the way? +3 from class, +2 from wis and +2 from cha is +7. There must be a +1 I'm missing somewhere.

Why did Acharn take AoO? He could move SE then SW to get to this position without being threatened. I guess I should have specificed that in my last post.

"Ouch, damn that stings." Acharn cries out as he's bitten.

After the combat he smiles at Grulyn "Good job master dwarf. Your axe arm is strong. But why are you still using the axe? The enchanted blade we found earlier is much more powerful, it'll both make it easier to hit and deal more damage."

"Damn, the way is blocked again. We probably have to turn back. Let me check out if there's anything hidden here first though." Acharn says as they get to the blocked stairwell.

When they found the wand Acharn smiled and remarked. "This is great, it'll work excellent with my fighting style, especially against armored opponents."

"Gar-energui" He proclaims while waving his new wand and a cackle of lightning engulfs his free hand as he reaches out to try to touch the flapping bat.

Not sure if I can take 10 on spellcraft or not? Though I don't think I'm supposed to know the DC before I decide to take 10 either. If I can, I want to take 10 with guidance for 18 for all the things mentioned except the scroll.

Acharn studies the sword to trying to figure out the exact magic on it. "This weapon is too heavy for me to use effectively." He says and hands it to Grulyn after inspecting it.

Once they get to the room with all the floating objects Acharn will again chant and scan the room for magical auras, trying to figure out what's up.

"Nice job. Sneaking up on opponents makes these fights much easier. We can't expect to succeed at that every time though. Let's see what might be of interest here before we move on. Masdok, can you finish off the zombies while I do so?" Acharn bends down to examine the corpse for anything interesting then scans the room for magic.

Once he's done he'll say. "My shield won't last long. Let's hurry on to explore more." Before moving forward as before.

Botting Masdok
Masdok swipes at the dosing creature with his fine new ranseur once everyone are in position. His great strength lands a might blow that cuts the creature wide open.

I moved us a bit around so everyone can attack

Acharn sneaks around the goblin, being careful to step around the hatches on the ground he's quick to strike when he realize they are in danger. With fluid movements he flows forward and stab the creature.

Going through the portal Acharn deftly sidesteps the tumbling men. He grabs hold of Blaze's arm to help her avoid them as well. "Fooling around in the grass is not the best start to this mission." He remarks dryly.

Acharn smiles as he sees the crates. "It's indeed good to see they have put a bit more thought to this than our rapid departure would suggest. The portal they sent us through was interesting. I hope I can learn some from the magic they obviously possess. I agree that we should go investigate the crates." He moves over to check them out.

It's a difficult balance to strike. Pbp can get tedious if the same things are happening over and over. At the same time it's kinda up to us to spice it up. No one is going to know about our character's personality, motivations and thoughts if we don't play them out. We as players are responsible for pushing the story forward, but also for interacting with each other.

I think this guide and the predecessor by doomed hero are great guides on how to make pbp flow better.

Acharn curses as one of the creatures manage to avoid their trap. He tries to dodge the incoming ranseur attack, but he's too slow. Luckily the weapon bounces of the protective layer of force around him instead of cutting of his leg. With a sigh of relief he steps further along the walkway so he can easier crouch down and stab at the creature with his rapier.

His familiar, the tiny wasps, flies down to distract the creature, trying to make it easier for her master to land his blow.

Thanks so much for doing this. I tried to put the tokens in their appropriate places. It surprisingly works to edit the map from the phone even though it's a bit cumbersome.

I'm unsure if Grulyn just moved up or also readied an attack. Since he's after the spawn in initiative this would let him attack if they try to approach before they get to. He moved 5 feet, so can do it, while I moved 10 so I can't.

Masdok can attack from where he's currently at, Grulyn can't move in and attack them with just a surprise round action, but he could 5 foot step north and ready an attack if the sinspawn makes it up the ramp.

Acharn will move three squares north as I don't thnk I can see the enemies from my current position unfortunatly, I assume Masdok has the squares 2 north and the squares nw/nnw.

Your current position is good. You'll be able to attack the closest spawn and get another attack if it tries to approach. It'll also leave room for Grulyn to come in from the side.

Why is Grulyn twice?

Seeing that the enemies are distracted, Acharn gets an idea. "I think enlarge could work in this situation. With your huge spear, you could stab them from up here Masdok, they'll be forced to rush at us, which would let you get in extra opportunties to hit them. What do you think?" Acharn whispers. If Masdok agrees, he'll use his wand of enlarge person on him.

Enlarge increases reach by 10 feet, with a reach weapon that means he'll reach from 15-20 feet. Damage dice increase, a ranseur or longspear would increase to 2d6 and finally he'll get +2 str.
