"Your revenge threatens to consume you, like my uncle Virgil." Darius starts as he watches Ogren assault him. "But rest easy, the Pathfinder Society will complete your mission. Rest easy, now."

Darius will use his magic to ease Nelfurhin's immediate pain, although there is little he can do to help her broken leg, or the grief of a lost friend. "I've known too many with good intentions who have fallen astray. I am glad to hear of the good things he did in life. At least now he can finally rest."

Darius gladly takes the offer for dinner. "The Kolphan family does all it can to right the wrongs of man kind. But we must understand the limits of our abilities!"

For Disarming, the Reflex DC is 10 + Reflex Save bonus. So if the DC is less than 12 Calder succeeded critically and knocked the morningstar away. Otherwise he gets a +2 bonus to disarm until the creature's next turn.

Darius continues to Inspire his allies.

Recalling the clues they found, Darius reaches into Hammerspace and pulls out a familiar journal. "This is what you used to be! You laid spirits to rest, you aided the weary, and you battled the forces of evil. You must fight back against these evil impulses. Let us free you from the binds of undeath!"

Darius will pull out the Journal and attempt an Intimidate check.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 3 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 4 - 2 = 9

Unfortunately, his pleas fall on deaf ears....

I didn't find anything that says casting provokes. Any fighters in the party? Attack of Opportunity is very useful here.

"Hmm? What did I miss?" Darius looks up, surprised as shadowy assailants assault him.

He trembles as the wave of energy hits him, and takes a moment to recollect himself. "Abhorrent creatures! We shall return you to whence you came!"

Darius then takes a careful Step back to leave room for his more able-bodied companions.

Finally, he draws his sword and prepares for battle.

Darius turns beet red for a moment as he confuses Calder with Bristor. "Ah, yes. Well. I was referring to... er, mind the pool of mud, I think it's quicksand. Er, quickmud. Let's walk around it." Darius quickly switches subjects.

Soothe on Flint: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
He places his hand of Flint's shoulder to ease the paladin's bruise from the fall. "That should do. I'll continue searching for traps."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Still embarrassed, Darius isn't really paying attention.

"I can call upon some of my magical reserves to Soothe your wounds." Darius offers his services. "But Calder is a man of the faith, he may be better suited for this."
I can cast Soothe twice today. Each casting heals 1d6 +4 HP.

Darius looks around. "I'll search for traps, again." He begins Searching for traps.

Can anyone make Religion checks? Maybe I'm confusing it with lore checks.

A few reasons come to mind:

1 - They can lower skill DCs, since DC 10 skill checks were trivial.
2 - More skills can be made untrained, so this may be the tradeoff.
3 - It makes the Assurance feat relevant, although it may be underpowered. Skill feats seem underpowered or too situational across the board, though.
4 - I always forgot about take 10 unless it had to deal with the bog standard DC 10 Climb/Swim check. But that's just me.

He moves up to the corner and takes aim at the kobold with Purple highlights, hoping to aid Ogren from afar.

"Well, that was easy enough." Darius grins. "Let's see if we can- an ambush!"

Darius is bombarded with 3 bolts of energy. "It will take more than that to stop a Kolphan. To arms, brothers!" He inspires everyone to take action before leaping to the side and drawing his shortbow.

Action 2: Leap over the stinky sewer stream to the other side. On page 308 it says I can leap up to 15 feet horizontally.

Darius has no trouble filling the details. "The founder was a celestial creature from the plains of Elysum, bordering the First World of the Fey. She built a magnificent garden the family continues to maintain. I'll give you a tour someday."

"Ogren, good to see you. I tried to speak to you but it seemed like I couldn't communicate." Darius goes for a handshake. "Good to see you."

When Calder points out the trap, Darius removes his tools from a box. "Good eye. Let's see if if all my training pulled off. Sometimes suspects have a nasty habit of trapping their front doors."

Looks like DD may require multiple checks. I have a +2 bonus, so I'll roll a few to start.

"We need to find more information about this half-elven cleric who has a date with an assassin. Let's hit the streets."

"What half-elven cleric?" Darius puts his dagger away. "Snips, what do you know of this? Besides calling these ruffians to attack us, that is!" He points accusingly.

I am untrained but I have a +4 Cha, so I get a +2 check naturally. I can lead.

Darius switches to his dagger and holds it up to the thug's throat.

"As my friend said, we're looking for the Rose Street Killer. You clearly know something about it- maybe you know who did it. But we came here with questions, and we're going to leave with answers."

"You came here with your life. Tell us what we need to know and you can leave here with it." He whispers.

At the back alley, he breathes a sigh of relief. "Well then, this was rather straightforward. Or we're walking into a trap." He shrugs. "I would have helped the boy clean up faster but that may have created more suspicion."

Once she and the customer are out of earshot, he turns to his comrades. "The broomsman asked us to meet him later. Now that he's the only one in the shop, maybe we can talk to him now..."

"Sounds like a plan." Darius confidently walks up to the shop sweep. "Good day, my friend. I'm sorry to bother you, but I have a few questions about... other barbers who could have come here. Do you have a moment?"

Darius enters the shop, sits down and reads from the local paper. "Really? Batboy strikes again? This is the third time this week." He chuckles.

Turning to his teammates, he whispers. "It looks like this is the place, eh? Should we speak to the owner in private? Or maybe the client is our target? And who wants to play the bad cop?"

Darius can do either Diplomacy or Intimidate.

"Let's see. Low ranking members would not be near these parts of the Coins." Darius marks off areas on the map, "So that would be a bad place to look. And it sounds like they are avoiding places where high-profile crimes occurred. I'll try to learn all that I can about that."

Darius lets his detective skills go to work and he's having a good day so far. The Puddles gets a bad reputation, but his overly dramatic acting gets people's attention- and answers- pretty quickly.

"Hmm, sounds like I should change a bit." Darius pulls out a set of plain clothing from his backpack. "I can't walk around with these fine silks, I'll stick out like a sore thumb!"

"Now, I could impersonate one of the recruits, and I am a skilled diplomat. But first, let me try to recall something about the people here..."

Oh boy, my first 2E roll! I'm trained in Society, so I add level 1 to my +2 Int bonus for a total of +3, right?

"Oh my!" The door flies open as a Taldan man walks in, hair groomed. "Is this the meeting place? Good to see you all here! I am Darius, of the Kolphan family. Nonetheless, I'm glad to see you all here. I find allies come from many places, none the least of which is the Pathfinder Society!"

Darius makes sure to shake everyone's hands that he's allowed to.

Performance(Acting): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

He over does it, but it's clear he's overdoing it on purpose.

Darius sips on some bittersweet tea and stares out the window. Some of the people out there have only tasted freedom recently. All of his charity work and nighttime escapades with his family, so much effort in getting the mayor to abolish the slave trade- all washed away with a sudden war.

If it weren't for the slaves killed in action, Darius would crack a smile.

One of the women crosses the street, meets Darius's gaze, and grins back. He did try to help her dental hygiene when she was still owned, but there's only so much you can do while operating under the law.

Oh well, back to the puzzle cube.
