This is for the Bridging the Gap convention in which players have registered through warhorn. Note this is a tier 1-2 game.

Those players please submit your PFS details here:

I have not GM'ed PFS1 in a long time. But I've got almost 100 PFS1 games GM'ed previously so I guess they considered me still qualified to run this special! But bear with me if I make any mistakes :)

Silver Crusade

I've currently signed up with my L4 urogue since the 3-4 table is on Discord and I don't use it.

He can take care of many skills but we also don't have a 'full' arcane caster.

Female Human

Hello, hello!

I'm trying to figure out what type of character to bring.

It looks like we have:
-> Horsetornado - Fighter 1 (Striker - Melee)
-> Lapyd with Elana Pilat (Slayer 1)
-> Pete H. with Cleric 1 (Medic/Support)
-> 7thGate with Celeste Durane (Cavalier 1)
-> Dan with Unchained Rogue 4

I see we don't really have a magic user in the group, but I don't really play magic characters, OOPS. My only magic character: My Magus Valentina sacrifices some spellcasting, so only gets 2 level 1 spells a day. Maud (Shaman) & Zehameti (Bard) have a mild splash of magic, but really mostly only to benefit their own combat.

I'm open to suggestions: Grelthe or Keiko would probably be my default RP first choices? Grelthe might work well with the Cavalier, depending on subclass - she shares teamwork feats. (Oops, she doesn't have that yet - I forgot I did the wrong Skald subclass - I will need to retrain her eventually into Battle Scion instead)

My only character that isn't Melee-focused in combat would be my Zen Archer Monk, Keiko, which is worth mentioning since it seems we have 4 melee people? (She DOES have Precise Shot)

Grelthe, the Singing Paladin - Half-Orc Paladin (Holy Tactician) 2 / Skald (Dragon Skald) 1 - (Diplomacy Specialist; Sailing background)
Ishikawa Keiko - Human Samurai 1 / Zen Archer Monk 1 - (Equestrian Acrobat theme, comes with Mount)
Maud Stonespark - Oread Unchained Elemental Monk 2 / Crystal Tender Shaman 1 - (LIKES ROCKS. Basically a dwarf, character inspiration Maud from MLP. Charisma 5.)
Valentina Vitteri - Human (mostly) Magus (Kapenia Dancer & Spell Dancer) 2 - (Very smart, kinda useless, except Combat Maneuvers)
Zehameti Golkami - Nagaji Fighter (Venomblade) 1 / Bard (Dervish Dancer) 1 - (Brawn & Sexy, fun RP)

@GM Batpony - any faction allegiances for this adventure?

I only have the smallest opinions as to whom you play. Usually I say “whoever you want to play!”

In this case I will say, “Whoever you want to play but if they can cast a CLW wand they would be a good backup healer cause we only have the cleric (me) who can reliably cast that now.”

A-ha! This is an excellent point.

ONLY Keiko, the Zen Archer could not use a wand of CLW, having no spells and a UMD of 0.

Hmm I will TENTATIVELY suggest Grelthe
I can see maybe how she might sync with a "bit o' a bastard" cleric of Erastil, and a Cavalier.

I'll double-check retraining subclasses, and still need to pick a level 3 feat anyway

If you think my Cleric/Barbarian would be a better idea but he has very few skills. :(

Female Human
Shadow Dragon wrote:

As long as we have a variety of skills, no one person really NEEDS all of them - but I'm a general fan of having a Rogue in the party, that is what I usually main. Disable Device, Knowledge (Dungeoneering), Linguistics, Sense Motive, & Stealth probably the most usefult Skills from your Rogue Arioch.

Cleric Angus doesn't look like he has any Knowledge Skills? Even Religion?

My characters:
Valentina does have Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Planes), & Spellcraft, which we likely don't have elsewhere in the party?

But if I do take Grelthe, she does have quite a few skills, AND her Skald level can share Rage, which could be cool for your Barb (& any other STR based classes), but we wouldn't really NEED 3 partial healers either. So stick with what you want.
Grelthe has Knowledge (Nobility), Knowledge (Religion), Perform, Sense Motive, & Profession (Sailor)... (& Diplomacy, obvi).

Keiko has Acrobatics, Handle Animal, Ride, Knowledge (History), Knowledge (Local), & Stealth.

Silver Crusade

The curse of the cleric skill points (and its class skill list). Ekadan (my cleric/barbarian) only has 'physical' skills at this point.

Sombra (my arcanist) has Arcana, Planes, and Nature.

Arioch has Dungeoneering and Local.

Level 1 cleric (even a human one) can only do so much, so knowledge skills were mostly on the chopping block. He has had little formal training or education and really only knows his own religion, not all religions.

Trained in Heal, Linguistics and Spellcraft. And competent on easy dc checks for anything Dex, Wis or Cha related.

Also of note, he will purchase a healer’s kit before the session starts.

If Angus is short of gold Arioch could buy one for himself. ;)

I concur with Angus, they both have benefits - so play your preference.

Really my only concern might be if the level 4 would raise the difficulty tier for everyone else or not? But that is a GM question, and I chose a level 3 anyway, so have no space to talk to that

(I only just realized Grelthe is technically out of tier, so now I'm waffling back to Keiko. I will decide by end of day, regardless. UGH.

4+3+1+1+1+1 = 11/6 is just under 2 so we should still be in the 1-2 sub-tier. Unless it works differently for Specials?

Silver Crusade

Angus Kilkenny wrote:

They do but, as a player, I've only played one special and I was literally a last-second addition and they needed a cleric so it was an easy choice. Obviously he had very little to offer in the way of skills so I just don't have the experience to know which class might be more useful in a Special.

All classes and builds have value in a special, usually more than just a scenario that can sometimes be dominated by one or two PCs.

It’s really just a matter of amount of content tho, there are simply more encounters (fights, skill checks, etc…) in a special. So more and varied encounters means more opportunities to shine for everyone.

In my experience at least.

F@ck it, I'm taking Grelthe. I like her.
Spending 300 gold and 10 prestige to re-train her
Dragon Skald ->(5 days)-> Barbarian ->(5 days)-> Battle Scion Skald (Somehow significantly cheaper than retraining the subclass directly)

It does not work differently! Praise be.

It looks like through some misunderstanding of mine, we actually start earlier than I thought! I will get intro post and slides up very shortly and we will begin!

There is multiple faction related things going on, so don't worry about being part of a specific faction. You'll not miss out I assure you.

We are now allowed one third level potion as a group.

I would suggest Fly or Daylight (if oils are allowed, which I’d think they are?). Daylight obviously because we may hit a darkness spell somewhere. Fly because maybe one enemy flies or has an elevated position. Give it to our best solo fighter to use as necessary. Any other thoughts?

Fly could work, though I honestly feel between spell and ranged attacks we'd be able to deal with flying enemies too. I'm not sure how we're doing in elemental resistances, poison, these things... Maybe even something restoration related?

Arioch and Grelthe may be pulling our party level up, but I'm not going to be the first level 1 character to complain about the cure serious wounds potions going around :)

I looked through all the Paladin & Bard level 3 spells
and found several good ideas (Tho not sure if all would be a potion)
and then lost all my work <<cry>>

I am not generally great at spells or equipment suggestions, so will go along with whatever party thinks best

Daylight was also a suggestion on my list, though situational.
Remove Curse, or Haste, or Tongues - similarly could be useful.
((Agree w/ Elara - something resorative could be good, most potions only affect the main person though, but Cure Serious Wounds could be good too - dunno how much healing we have.))

Other options that seemed possible (in potion form?): Silverlight, Beacon of Luck, Magic Circle Against Evil, Life Shield, Archon's Aura

Didn't check sources though, figured between all of us...?

Grand Lodge

Male Half-Orc CN Unc Rogue 4 | HP 28 / 35 | AC 19 / 15 T / 14 FF | CMD 19 | Fort + 5, Ref + 11, Will + 3 Init + 7 | Perception + 10 (+ 4 for traps, + 5 secret doors) | (Darkvision 60')| Speed 30 ft. | Conditions: None | Effects: +2 save vs. fear

Magical darkness can be crippling at low level.

Fly would be a good choice for quickly ascending/getting out of danger particularly if a stronger PC is carrying one or more PCs.

The Magic Circle vs. Evil would be a solid choice since we're under siege from undead who are usually evil. The +2 to saves is huge and I doubt many of us have a resistance bonus. Likewise I doubt there's many with a +2 deflection bonus to AC.

Lesser Restoration is good but stat drain happens en masse so one potion won't help.

Remove Paralysis vs. ghouls is a solid choice. Align Weapon, Bless Weapon oil, Remove Curse or Disease could also be helpful.

SOG Macros Slides | 8-01

I will not contribute to the choice as an impartial party but remember it's tier 1-2 :)

From the options above I’d vote magic circle if it’s something we can have in a potion and that would affect the whole party.

Apologies for the lateness, the site crashing meant I couldn't actually get into posting til just now, since I just got off work

On the matter of selection, I can't say I'm well versed enough to say for sure what might be best but hopefully we don't get shadows or anything tossed at us, just like zombies and skeletons and the like. Something that works more generally might be of more use, like the magic circle. Pretty much guaranteed to be useful.
