Maybe our dragonic speakers could share this good new to those pesudodragons. Let's terminate the chaos in this pub
"I still think the guards should accompany us and the thief to the pseudodragons where he can face justice."
Rosla el Func
|
"I speak draconic. Let's head upstairs, then!"
Rosla starts moving.

Up the stairs to the turret you go.
The doors are unlocked. Designed to emulate Castle Korvosa’s Seawatch Tower, this turret is cramped but has a high ceiling, with wooden rafters crisscrossing overhead. Slim windows offer breathtaking views of the city and beyond. The furnishings are covered with drop cloths, which are themselves bedaubed with many seasons’ worth of dragon droppings.
There is a fledgling pseudodragon who sits squalling in the rafters, 20 feet above the center of the room.

That should give me an identity and hopefully a tidbit or two of information. If so I'd like to know defenses (DR, energy resistance or immunity) and then offenses (SLAs, spellcasting).

Kageryu recognises it as a juvenile hippogriff. No DR, no immunities, no energy resistances.
Yukari's arrow hits for 6 non-lethal and she realises it really only wants to play like a kitten - although it really plays rough.
Kageryu Takeda

Does anyone have Wild Empathy or something similar?
Kageryu raises his hands, "I would refrain from attacking it if possible."
He reaches into his pack and throws some rations to the hippogriff to see if food will distract it.
Rosla el Func
|
"It just wants to play? I'm in!"
Grinning like a maniac, Rosla gets in a defensive stance, then starts running in a circle along the walls while drawing her sap (just in case) and waving with her other arm.
She looks over her shoulder the entire time, though.
"COME AND GET ME, LITTLE HIPPO!"

Total Defense: Instead of the normal +4 dodge bonus Rosla gets a +6 dodge bonus to AC thanks to 3 or more ranks in Acrobatics.

Saturn still to go
He may not know. The system was doing something weird for me earlier today so it wasn't until now that I was able to log in and check things.

I'm sorry, I just get overwhelmed sometimes.
Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Saturn looks mildly disappointed. "Well that's hardly a dragon at all! It's a wonder that fool didn't take a few lumps of cheese for 'dragon-eggs'...!" He mutters as he gingerly approaches the hippogriff and with his hand clenched in a strange and painful-looking gesture...
Touch of Chaos: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
..."I say, what a view!"
phaeton_nz

I can understand that
Since Rosla is willing to entertain the hippogriff in rough house play, it's quite happy to oblige. Three rounds later and Rosla is looking a bit battered and bruised as well as covered in detritus from the floor. ((unless anyone is going to take actions))
It's about then when all three adu7lt psuedodragons arrive to investigate the loud screeching from their chick.

Well, Rosla will continue to use Total Defense with Acrobatics. I thought AC 26 (+4 vs. AoO) and CMD 22 (also +4 vs. AoO) would make it unlikely for the hippogriff to catch her. Dirty, yes, of course she is! ;-)
Someone else speaking Draconic want to talk to the pseudodragon chick? Rosla is a little busy at the moment...
Kageryu Takeda
|
Kageryu will hail the pseudodragons when they appear and speak in Draconic, "Greetings we bring good news: We have recovered your stolen eggs and identified and apprehended the thief."
He will very carefully present the egg he was carrying to the pseudodragons.
phaeton_nz
|
The pseudodragons are quite happy with this and take the eggs to the nest. They also get the hippogriff to stand down. Rosla is basically uninjured but looks like she has been rolling in hay. The pseudo dragons agree to stay in the tower and even reward you in a surprising way (a boon on your Chronicles). Cadmion rejoices at this outcome, and rewards you with a platinum statuette of a unicorn worth 1,500 gp.
When you inquire about the Varisian fortune-teller, both Lomen and Cadmion report seeing such a woman in the lobby yesterday, depositing a stack of flyers for the Green Market. These flyers resemble the cards Foxglove gave to you, and they bear an additional phrase: “Free samples to foreign visitors!”
Presumably you are off to the Kendall Ampitheatre now.

@GM: Would a casting of Comprehend Languages help with the Linguistics check? Depending on if we have anyone who can cast it (or has a scroll; for some reason I forgot to buy one for Kageryu) or somewhere to buy a scroll is nearby we may do that before the Kendall Amphitheater.

Following the sounds (see map) takes you to C6 - The Stage. Two pillars flank the northern edge of this tw0-level stage.
Upon arrival, you see a group of 12 performers scrambling about the stage, rehearsing several scenes at once. The Andoren Chameleons are a troupe of tragedians renowned for their powers of disguise. Their hectic rehearsal of The Gambler’s Tragedy, which opens tomorrow, includes a rapier fight between Hamm the Lesser and Flavicomos Maximos (male humans). Nearby, the company’s manager, Maestro Bellowskin (male gnome) tugs at his white top hat nervously.
Maestro Bellowskin spots them, and leaps up, shrieking “Closed rehearsal!” startling the stage combatants, and causing Hamm’s sword to slip and graze Maximos’s arm.
Although the wound is minor (1d6 points of damage), Bellowskin decries it as “an utter disaster,” since “Maximos’s sword arm is the only stageworthy part of the buffoon!” The ensemble quarrels over how they’ll adapt. Hamm suggests that a sword-wielding PC replaces the actor, using some of the troupe’s “mask powder” to disguise the PC as Maximos.
Reactions?
And does any of you want to adopt a young pseudo dragon? The parents choose one of you to do so, They tell the chosen PC that their broodling needs a traveling companion and mentor to show her the world. They ask the PC to protect their child until she chooses to return home.

If the pseudodragon can be taken as a pet/companion Kageryu would be proud to be its caretaker. Due to his Bladebound prestige class he cannot have a familiar.
Kageryu tells the others, "Rosla is good with a sword and, as shown with the hippogriff, can fight without harming others. I think she'd make a fine choice."
@GM: Heal check? We have CLW wands so we can cure the damage; would that make Maximo 'whole' and able to perform?
Kageryu Takeda

Yes it would - are you going to offer this?

Saturn is quite surprised at the offer to adopt a pseudodragon, but after an extended argument with his doll, declares his openness to the notion.

At the theatre, he saunters in a step or two behind the others, but is in time to see Entropy take its moment on the stage; he laughs loudly and applauds the magnificent farce.
