Bustral
|
Clad in s dark green hooded cloak and clutching a well-worn but polished staff walks in a strange figure. With a metal dark green body accented by golden joints, and a single dimly glowing red eye, the Bustral enters making little of the noise one would expect. He finds a place near a wall and scans the room watching the passersby. "I am called Bustral. I am a Wizard of the First order from the School of Battle Magic. I am honored to be joining everyone on this adventure today."
~Alessandra
|
A tall, slender elf woman in bright clothing strides out of the crowd, looking around. There's something about her presentation that makes it seem like she takes up more space than her physical size would suggest. She has a cased longbow over one shoulder and a dagger at her belt, but more conveniently placed is a dark felt instrument case that looks like it holds something triangular. On seeing the mechanical wizard she bows floridly (but not disrespectfully so). "An honor. I'm called Alessandra, in service to the Society and to my muse."
Brother Dawnfriend
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
A small furry creature comes bustling into the Grand Lodge's noisy lobby, looking around with wide eyes. The creature's bright orange fur is instantly noticeable. Perhaps a runt kitsune or something? He is wearing robes with the Dawnflower emblem on them, marking him as a cleric of Sarenrae.
The creature darts around, greeting everyone pleasantly and enthusiastically, "Hello, nufriends, I am Brother Dawnfriend! Please let me know if there's anything that any of you need!" He enthusiastically shakes hands with everyone who will allow it, and if there's any hint that they might be a hugger than he goes for those too. This is pretty easy for him, given that he has six arms.
Finally noticing the group that he's supposed to be joining, he darts over - moving with the abundant energy of a toddler who has found a new puppy - in that direction, arriving just in time to listen quietly until, just barely, the two members have made their introductions, and then begins speaking excitedly.
His eyes first settle on Bustral, expression lighting up. "Are you a robot! Oh, that's gree! I haven't seen a single robot since I got here." He begins running around Bustral, looking at him from every angle. "My friend Sparky - he was a goblin - he knew all about robots. But he's ... Well, I guess not dead now, because he's not been born yet ..." He frowns. "I don't know if I can heal you, nufriend Bustral. Maybe. I know I can heal androids, but I usually can't heal robots. But don't worry, I'll do anything I can to help!"
"Oh, I apologize, I didn't introduce myself. I am Brother Dawnfriend, priest of Sarenrae! Do you know about Sarenrae? She's the best friend you could have! And I'm here to represent her! If any of you get hurt, please let me know. The easiest way, I've found, is if you just scream very loudly if you get hurt."
He looks between you both, continuing to walk around energetically."Oh, Pathfinder nufriends, this place is so gree! Reminds me of the Lorespire complex ... but better decorations. And weirder smells. And fewer vidscreens." He glances around, for a moment distracted, perhaps even a hint of ... sadness? ... but the unpleasant emotion passes like a flicker with a faint shrug, back to unbridled enthusiasm.
"I just finished my training as a cleric of Sarenrae ... well, my new training. I was trained where I used to live, first, but things work kind of differently now, I guess." He shrugs again, which with 6 arms means the shrug kind of ripples along the length of his body. "And once I finished, Priestess Kyra said, 'Get out of here! Get out of the temple. Go help people somewhere else,' she said, and she was very loud and enthusiastic about it. See, she wanted me to go out into the world and minister to the people ... which is totally what I'm all about, too, so that sounded great. And I thought ... Self, I thought, how can you help the most people? Well, before it was by being in the Starfinder Society ... and there's kind of a Starfinder Society here, but instead of finding stars you find paths ... so I joined the Pathfinder Society! And my training here went really fast, too ... I guess because I'm already kind of an expert ... and my trainer said, 'Just please for the love of all the gods get out of here and go on your first mission.' Everyone here is so loud and enthusiastic, and just wants people to help so much! I can't wait!" Finally he finishes speaking, bounding up and down and holding his three sets of hands together in front of him, looking expectantly between the two of you.
| Lidya Irsiya |
A cloaked young woman approaches, but something seems very "off" about her. Every time you try to assess the details of her appearance the colors seem to shift from your expectations. On focusing (perhaps after a double take) you notice that her being seems not entirely substantial. Her form seems... spectral.
Despite that, she seems overly enthusiastic.
What's a "vid screen"? Oh, Hi! I'm Lidya!
Morthos Talandro
|
A frustrated looking tiefling, tall with plain explorer's clothes follows close behind her. Morthos has a relatively plain face for a tiefling, though his ruby-red skin and long horns still stand out and tell of his ancestry. His utility clothing does not seem to match his personality, but he is otherwise well-kept.
Please keep the silly questions to a minimum this time.
Bustral
|
Bustral looks down at the energetic little one and says. "I am an Automaton. This body was created and my soul was placed inside. We do .heal like most races. Potions and Spells will heal our wounds. We do not eat or drink to survive. We do not sleep but we do shut down for 2 hours to re-energize. During this cycle we are fully aware of our surroundings. Technically we do not breathe, but we build up gasses inside that must be vented from our necks. Perfectly safe, I assure you."
Modra Boeske
|
Taking in this scene from a small distance is a dark-haired, dark-eyed dwarf with a twin-braided beard and a braided ponytail. He has "resting serious face" and a gruff demeanor overall, with the pale complexion of one who's spent a lot of time underground in the clan halls. He wears a breastplate that looks like it might be brand new, with a variety of mismatched other pieces of armor. Etched onto his steel shield is an art deco-style pillar. A warhammer hangs from a loop on his belt.
The dwarf cannot hide a bewildered expression from his face as he watches the introductions. He doesn't say anything rude, but he's definitely staring more than is polite at Bustral, Dawnfriend, and Lidya. At a quiet moment, he clears his throat. "Modra Boeske, champion o' Torag." (MOE-druh BOW-skee) "Honor's mine to be in this... unique company."
| Lidya Irsiya |
Lidya frowns as the explanation introduces more questions than answers.
Shut down? Gasses?
She doubles down on the original question.
But what does a "vid screen" do?
~Alessandra
|
Deception check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Alessandra does a masterful job of keeping a straight face during the skittermander's tale, nodding respectfully at all the right spots. "Of course, of course. I can't imagine how hard it was for them to part from you." Meanwhile, she's making mental notes to investigate Starfinders, and whatever sort of creature this cleric seems to be.
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Brother Dawnfriend smiles at Lidya. "Hello nufriend Lidya! A vid screen shows pictures, kind of like ... um well they're made of light, kind of like illusion spells, I guess. Like flat illusions ... although you could also have holovids that were in 3D." He shrugs. "It's hard to explain. But I don't think you have anything like it here now."
| Lidya Irsiya |
Wow. I thought moving, lifelike illusions with sound were more advanced spells. A flat illusion sounds lesser than a figment! I suppose you'll show me sometime and I'll get it! Ouch!
Morthos Talandro
|
Just then her brother elbows her to simply stop, embarrassed of her incessant questions.
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Brother Dawnfriend shakes his head. "No, sorry, my comm unit stopped working a long time ago. No screens left"
He smiles at Morthos and waves. "Hello! I'm Brother Dawnfriend. What is your name? Are you with Lidya here?"
Then, his attention back to Lidya, "Hey, I don't want to be rude or anything ... but do you know you're kind of fuzzy, like you're out of phase with this dimension or something? No offense intended. Just wasn't sure you knew."
Modra Boeske
|
Modra watches Dawnfriend bound this way and that, racking his brain for any story or any knowledge of creatures who look like him. Failing to do so, he lets out a breath of irritation, air blowing at the corners of his mustache. When Dawnfriend passes in front of him, Modra pipes up, "Lad, erm, if ye don't mind me askin', where on Golarion do yer people, erm, come from?"
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Dawnfriend chuckles. "Oh, I'm not from Golarion. In fact, where I'm from, Golarion doesn't even ..." He stops himself, looking uncomfortable, and then chuckles awkwardly. "I mean, I'm probably about one of the only people from where I'm from who has ever been to Golarion." He points up out a window. "I'm from one of those stars out there. When it's night, I can probably figure out which one."
Clearly, this creature is kin to some manner of chaotic and truly warped outer god.
Modra Boeske
|
At Dawnfriend's explanation, Modra smiles and nods as though that all made perfect sense. "Heard stories o' all that from me nan, too," he says.
Having checked up on one of his sources of confusion, Modra turns next to Bustral. He pauses for a moment, weighing whether it might be impolite to ask, then plows ahead, "Erm, ye said yer soul was placed inside yer shell? Where was it before it was there?"
Bustral
|
"I was a wizard in the ancient country of Jistka. Shortly after Earthfall, the Jistka Imperium came into power where Rahadoum now lies. Enemies of the Ancient Osirion people, they fought each other for years. When Jistka started loosing, they created Golems to fight for them. Eventually the Jitskan people started to volunteer to bind theier souls to a new type of golem they call Automatons. I remember very little of my time back from before I woke in this body. I remember it was near the end of the war and I was damaged and sent for repairs. I woke about 25 years ago when Pathfinders found the remains of the long collapsed repair center and accidently revived me while battling robot caretakers. I was befriended by a Dwarf named Thorur Grundur who took me in and taught me the wonders of Dwarven Blacksmithing. I joined the Pathfinder Society to help pay forward the help and kindness given to me."
Morthos Talandro
|
He smiles at Morthos and waves. "Hello! I'm Brother Dawnfriend. What is your name? Are you with Lidya here?"
The tiefling laughs nervous, fumbling over an answer.
Oh, um yes. I am Morthos. This is my sister Lidya. We take on Pathfinder missions in hopes of her remembering what happened to her.
| Lidya Irsiya |
Oh, um yes. I am Morthos. This is my sister Lidya. We take on Pathfinder missions in hopes of her remembering what happened to her.
Yeah! Can't you see the resemblance!
She reflexively recoils, expecting a glare from her brother.
Then, his attention back to Lidya, "Hey, I don't want to be rude or anything ... but do you know you're kind of fuzzy, like you're out of phase with this dimension or something? No offense intended. Just wasn't sure you knew."
She laughs nervously and rubs the back of her head.
Uh yeah. I know. We're still putting the pieces together. I'm not exactly as I was. Despite my... spectral nature these can harm foes that harass my brother!
She brandishes a pair of blades: a spectral dagger whose edge you're quite sure is real (even if the rest looks hazy), and a glowing-orange short-sword-sized blade wreathed in flame.
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Dawnfriend looks at Lidya for a second, and then says, "Weird. So you're kind of like a ghost, but you don't seem evil, so that's good. But I don't know how my healing magics will affect you, either. It can hurt ghosts. Are you hurt the blessed healing of Sarenrae? Maybe I should stand away from you, then, when I do healing spells."
| Lidya Irsiya |
Oh, we heal just fine, thankfully. No need to avoid us. she states. It’s clear that she’s vaguely referring to Morthos as well.
Yata Kupre
|
The doors of the room bust open as a gnome dressed in colorful garbs steps forward, the illusion of a spotlight right on her as she looks at everyone with a smile "Never fear, the life of the party has--" she suddenly stops and loudly gasps as she looks at...well, half the group, really. The ghost, the robot and a little thing she has NEVER seen before.
"WOOOOOOOOOOW!" She says as she jumps around between poking at the robot, trying to touch the ghost and feeling the Skittermander's fur.
After this goes for a while, she eventually catches her breath "Hello! I am Yata! I love cooking this week. I am not sure about next one. Are you guys my team?! What is the deal with the little furry guy?! He's so cute!" she's vibrating with excitement.
Modra Boeske
|
As Yata arrives and makes her introduction, the dwarf mutters to himself, Gods, there's another o' them...
Modra turns away and takes two deep breaths, the joints of his different armor pieces scraping slightly as his shoulders move up and down. Returning to face the assembled companions with a neutral expression, he nods to the gnome and says, "No' so many times in me life where more'n one are shorter'n me." He turns a strained smile first to Yata and then to Dawnfriend.
Brother Dawnfriend
|
"My name is Brother Dawnfriend! Thank you! You're very cute, too, nufriend Yata!" He, too, is vibrating with excitement.
Yata Kupre
|
"You seem pretty tall to me, so that's not too surprising! she smiles at Modra, clearly not having noticed his own exasperation. "You have very fancy armor! What's your story?"
In the meantime, she keeps rubbing her hands against Dawnfriend's fur, completely fascinated "Gods, it's so soft...you know, I could absolutely get really into crochet and we could sell plushies made after your image..." she mumbles to herself about the materials, then something occurs to her "Wait, is it rude to turn you into a marketable plushy? It's rude, isn't it? Okay, let's put that idea back on the shelf."
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Brother Dawnfriend shakes his head. "No, of course it's not rude. What are friends for! My fur grows really quickly, so we could probably cut a bit here and there without much trouble. Who knows, maybe my healing magic will even make it grow back more quickly? I've never tried! Is it alright if part of the proceeds go to support the Church of Sarenrae?"
Modra Boeske
|
"You seem pretty tall to me, so that's not too surprising! she smiles at Modra, clearly not having noticed his own exasperation. "You have very fancy armor! What's your story?"
On receiving the compliment about his armor, the previously-taciturn dwarf flushes first with embarrassment, then pride. Modra replies, "Oh, aye, a fine Dwarven piece, en't it? Got the Pathfinders to thank for tha' one, ye know, they look after folk like us after a job's been done right..."
Modra launches into a recounting of a little adventure he had for the Society, cataloguing the long-buried vault of an eccentric follower of the Prophecies of Kalistrade - "They think if ye follow 'em, ye get rich, an' if yer rich enough, 'fore they bury ye, they make ye a mummy out o' metal!" This party has one more excitable, not-too-tall member in it after all.
Winding down the tale, "Guardin' the key t' the earth plane or some such were a machine, don't think this 'un had a soul though. Thing packed quite a wallop!" He nods in Bustral's direction and concludes, "Knew a few tricks o' yer sort, it seemed. Try not to blast me with any o' yer fire, eh? Me beard, it don't grow back so fast, an' I like it how it is now!" He laughs gregariously for a few moments, then catches himself, clears his throat, and resumes a stoic demeanor.
Yata Kupre
|
Yata stares at Dawnfriend, considering his question. There is intense defensive greed in her eyes for a moment — this is her business venture, why should she help the church when all they’ll do with the money is go waste it in some crusade?! But at that moment, she catches herself. This is not her fur nor is it her likeness being used. Gotta play it smart.
”Absolutely! We can talk about it more after the mission! — what’s the mission anyway, anyone know? Honestly I don’t even know if this is the right room.”
After that, she’s enraptured in Modra’s tale, paying full attention, nodding along and letting out excited oohs and aahs at times during the tale ”That's incredible! One would think that there wouldn’t be much excitement cataloguing a vault but excitement is in every corner isn’t it?! I wonder how a big magical fire machine even got that key! The intrigue! Maybe I’ll be into writing next week and I’ll write an adaptation of this tale! Yes! It’ll be fun! She bounces in place.

We are officially underway. Good luck Pathfinders!
The gaggle of about a dozen young people crowded into the lobby of the Grand Lodge parts to step out of the way for a man in an Eagle Knight’s uniform. “Pathfinders! So good to see you today. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedules to assist with our little educational venture. Allow me to present the students of Dacilane Academy!” J Dacilane raises his voice and sweeps his gaze over the students, who all fall silent and give friendly nods or shy half bows.
“And this is their history teacher, Professor Thandmere Krelsun.” J gestures to a gray-bearded dwarf with spectacles perched on the end of his nose. The teacher struggles with a stack of papers as J continues. “As you’ve been told, the class is traveling to Woodsedge Lodge today to explore life in the Pathfinder Society and to cooperate in a series of small tasks at the Lodge. They’ll report back to me at the end of the day.” J casts a glance at the students as he puts a subtle emphasis on each word of the Pathfinder’s motto.
Pics of the two provided in the slideshow
“Why don’t you introduce yourselves to the students, and tell them a little bit about your adventures in the Society so far?”
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Brother Dawnfriend darts forward. "Oh, of course, I'd be happy to help." He waves at them with all 6 arms. "Hello nufriend Dacilane Academy students. I am Brother Dawnfriend, a cleric of Sarenrae, who is the Dawnflower, and is the goddess of healing, redemption, and the sun. I'm a skittermander, and there aren't many of me around here. I come from a long way away. I fought alongisde the Pathfinder Society when they were exploring a magical portal that took them to the planet Akiton, and now I'm a member! This is my first official mission as a member, though, so I don't have much to tell in the way of stories yet, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know."
He turns his attention to J. Dacilane and the teacher, "Maybe we should get something on the schedule for me to come to your school as a guest lecturer? I also have a certification from Absalom Station Community College in developmental psychology and counselling, if that helps at all ..."
Yata Kupre
|
"Ohhh! So that's why I was called here! Excellent, I am perfect for this job! I would be so, so excited to help!" Yata spins dramatically and faces the children and makes a fancy outfit for herself with a top hat using illusion magic.
"My name is Yata Kupre, magician extraordinaire and life of every party! Not so long ago, I was forced into community service after I caused some damage with some pranks... At this point, she had dramatically tossed away the fancy outfit, and instead she was in a crude and exaggerated prisoner's outfit. "But! That's when the Society found me, and they took me in! And I've gone to so many adventures! Like finding some living dolls inside a dollhouse prison! Or finding an ancient friendly ghoul underneath Absalom! And even going to help the Queen of Irrisen in a big top secret mission!"
Did she do all this? No. She simply heard other Pathfinders tell the tale, but the children don't have to know that. Still, with every tale she shares, she changes the illusion to a different, matching outfit, before discarding it altogether at the end.
Morthos Talandro
|
Morthos clears his throat and steps forward when it is his turn.
Certainly! Hello class. My name is Morthos. My original reason for joining the society is very personal, but regardless me and my sister have had many adventures along the way! I was present when a ghost suddenly appeared in the lodge at Almas. I've trekked in the jungles of the Sodden Lands. I was hired to clear oozes from a Thassilonian ruin. I got to meet a star-gunsmith in Arcadia! Oh! We were here recently to help figure out who was disrupting your performances Quest #20. To be honest, I imagine we won't get into nearly that kind of trouble today.
| Lidya Irsiya |
Famous last words... Lidya taunts from behind her brother.
Bustral
|
Bustral takes a step forward and speaks, quietly at first but louder and with more confidence as he goes on,..."I was recently sent to Irrisen at the behest of Queen Anastasia herself. She spent time on a planet named "Earth" where she had encountered a machine called a "Locomotive". This machine pulls wagon-like containers that move people and belongings on a set of metal roads called "tracks" without the use of animals. Different groups were called to propose ways to build and run these machines here. A group of Ice Goblins broke into the event, causing mayhem and stealing the models. After a intense chase and a heated confrontation with the leader of the Ice Goblins, we discovered that they had been tricked by one of the delegates. The delegate was using them to distract an assassination attempt that we thwarted. The full report should be on file by now.". He then steps back and tries to look inconspicuous once more....as if a 6'2" 300# walking piece of metal can successfully do so.
Modra Boeske
|
Before taking his turn with the introductions to the students, Modra offers a gesture of salute to the older dwarf, Professor Krelsun. He shifts uncomfortably at being the center of attention of even this small group. "Erm, nice to meet ye, students. Name's Modra Boeske, champion o' Torag." He nods his head in the young people's direction.
After a couple of moments where it is clear the crowd is waiting to hear about a Pathfinder adventure, Modra starts talking, again, about that trip into the Kalistrade vault. It's not as animated of a telling this time and he never quite makes eye contact with anyone while he's speaking. Recognizing his audience, he does attempt to play up the discovery of a centuries-old library containing tomes of magic research: "Linin' both o' the walls, an' behind panes o' glass, shelves on shelves o' books, a lifetime worth o' study all locked away since who knows when. Or at least it were 'til we came along, but now the Society'll make good use o' all the old knowledge today."
Modra shuffles his feet and concludes, "Erm, ye want tae be careful in old vaults, though, 'cause sometimes old experiments've ended up workin' too well now tha' no one's lookin' after 'em." He trails off awkwardly and steps back into line.
For the curious, 6-13 All That Glitters.
Brother Dawnfriend
|
Brother Dawnfriend elaborately claps and cheers at the end of each of the stories. "Wow! Great job! Isn't that a wonderful story, kids?"
~Alessandra
|
Caught up in listening to the others' stories, Alessandra doesn't realize that it's her turn. "Oh! Pardon me. I'm Alessandra di Montefeltro, and I was inspired to join the Society by my uncle, who was a Pathfinder in the old days. My first real mission actually took me to your school! There were some strange things happening there, and my companions and I put a stop to them and got rid of the Scholar of Sorts. Once I was invited to a fundraiser for the Knights of Lastwall in Absalom, where we stopped a murder plot and saved the Society's reputation. I've been to Xin-Edasseril, the city out of time, and to Minkai. And in all those places, my fellow Pathfinders have had my back, and I've had theirs--bolstering them with music, magic, knowledge, and the occasional arrow or two."
GM Erich
|
J nods to the skittermander and whispers under his breath. "Yes, let's talk after the field trip about that."
The class as a whole listens carefully to the brief stories, and a few even take notes.
As Bustral gives his speech, a young goblin girl steps forward to examine him at close range, even extending her hand out to 'tap' him before being chastised with a throat-clear from Professor Krelsun. She smiles and steps back to the student group.
Once complete, a tall, dark-haired boy steps forward to Brother Dawnfriend and extends his hand (in that limp teenage way). "Alec. Alec Gracekin. Pleased to meet you Brother. Yes, all of these introdcutions are quite enlightening. The VCs certainly have brought us a wide array of agents to chaperone us, although I must admit we are all quite capable of handiling ourselves appropriately. So rest assured, today will be a cake walk for you all."
There is some hushed laughter. It is ultimately quelled by a red headed boy who shakes his head until it dies down. You notice that as he darts his eyes to his schoolmates, one of them is blue and one green.
A darker skinned half-elf in a green smock looks up from their note book. "I do have a few questions about this Earth place..."
J shakes his head at them and whispers "We will get to all that in a moment, Hari."
Professor Krelsun passes over several carefully-written pages. “Yes, yes! Thank you for joining us. Here are the rules for the field trip, and a list for you of the tasks that the students are expected to accomplish today. Please remember that accomplishing these tasks is the point of this trip! If you need to know anything, please ask me now. We hope to leave in a few moments.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for agreeing to accompany our class to the Woodsedge Lodge! Students have been preparing for this trip for several weeks, so they should be very familiar with this information.
Field Trip Rules
• Students are guests at the Lodge and should show courtesy to Pathfinder agents and Venture-Captain Armeline Jirneau.
• No horseplay except in the battleground, and then only under the supervision of chaperones.
• Students have full run of Woodsedge Lodge, other than the restricted section of the library, where sensitive documents are kept. Remind students that the restricted section is off limits, and do not allow them access for any reason.
• Under no circumstances are unaccompanied students allowed in the Maze of the Open Road.
Class Assignment
Students are to complete the following tasks as a group to show that they have gotten something educational out of the trip:
• In the Main Hall: Identify an artifact with a significant tie to Taldan history.
• In the Kitchen: Speak with the chef to learn the secret ingredient in Woodsedge Pie.
• In the Battleground: Document three combat techniques frequently used by Pathfinder agents in the field.
• In the Library: Make note of the most common type of document in the Galtan library.
Reliable Students
While any student in the class should be happy to assist you, the following are particularly responsible:
• Alec Gracekin (he/him): A tall, dark-haired human from Ustalav. Alec is helpful and friendly. He often volunteers to run errands for me!
• Geltra (she/her): A kobold from the Sewer Dragon tribe. Geltra is quiet, but dependable. She has permission for her pigeon familiar, Ruffles, to accompany her on the trip.
• Hari (they/them): A studious half-elf from Osirion. I’m sure they’ll be full of questions about the trip and about you! Hari is very focused on their academics and is usually the first to volunteer during class discussions.
• Tels Olsen (he/him): A sturdy redheaded changeling human. Tels is the captain of our ruk team and a quiet leader. He watches out for the younger students and often gives them good advice.
• Vim Moneymaker (she/her): A talkative Katapeshi goblin. Vim probably knows as much about the Pathfinder Society as you or I! She writes letters to Ambrus Valsin once a week asking to start her training.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You shouldn’t need any special equipment,” adds J, “But feel free to bring what you normally would on an assignment. It will be interesting for the students to see fully equipped Pathfinders. I hope that you enjoy getting a chance to influence the next generation.” J lowers his voice and leans so the students will not overhear, “Also, do be on your best behavior. They are children and they’re as likely to pick up bad habits from you as good.”
There are some smirks from the closer students at the children comment.
You may know more about Dacilane Academy. Let me know your Absalom Lore or Society bonus if you'd like to find out.
You may know more about the Woodsedge Lodge. Let me know your Pathfinder Society Lore or Society bonus if you'd like to find out.
Other than that, you may ask questions of J or the Professor or even start to interact with the students (and now there are pics of the notable ones in the handouts...)

| Lidya Irsiya |
Can we help the students any of the assignments?
Lidya seems to be really getting into the idea of a field trip.
Modra Boeske
|
Modra scans the field trip handout, holding the parchment with one hand while subconsciously pulling at his mustache with the other. He grins for a moment upon seeing a familiar name.
The dwarf waits his turn to pose a question to the Professor: "What kind o' trouble are ye thinkin' we'll find on the way? Beggin' yer pardon, but they do no send out Pathfinders fer nothin'."
On getting his answer, Modra picks out the goblin student, Vim Moneymaker. He clears his throat by way of greeting. "Say, lass, ye been in touch with Ambrus Valsin? Good man, tha' one. All tha' business in tha' old vault, it were him what sent us out." After a moment, he adds, "Erm, what are ye studyin', then, tha' ye want him to train ye further?"
Pathfinder Society Lore +3 for Woodsedge, no roll for the Academy.
Yata Kupre
|
Yata takes time to read the parchment as well, looking over Modra's shoulder as he reads, and she then nods to J's lower voiced warning. She smiles widely and responds quietly "You got nothing to fear, always best behavior, here!" She was, of course, already thinking of how to tempt the students to maybe have some fun, sneak places and play pranks.
She approaches Geltra after this "Hello there Geltra! I was told you are from the Sewer Dragons, that's awesome! I've heard a lot about you guys. How are you liking life here? I see Ruffles here is your familiar, are you magically inclined then? My kind of gal!
Society is +0 and Pathfinder lore is +3
Bustral
|
Pathfinder Society and Society are both +7. Please check both.
Bustral approaches the young goblin and takes a knee. He reaches out his staff arm in front of him. He then pulls the sleeve up to the elbow and taps on his arm. "Come little one, you may examine me and ask any questions."
Brother Dawnfriend

Dawnfriend doesn't worry too much, being so new to the place that he doesn't really know anything about anything around here.
I'm not going to risk any of those checks, even the Pathfinder Society Lore that I'm technically trained in

Alessandra has Bardic Lore +8, which allows her to Recall Knowledge on any topic. She also has Society +8, in case that's better, and she's already been to the Dacilane Academy.

The Professor responds to Lidya first, shaking his head gently. “Well, if you aren’t helping them, why do you think you are here? Just don’t do things for them. They’ll never learn that way. You could build the Bridge of the Gods, but they need to walk over it.”
Turning to Modra's question, he straightens up. "Hmm. Well, I wouldn't normally expect any dangers at one of our lodges. But the last year showed us we should be always vigilant. And that is, of course, a good lesson for fledgling Pathfinders. But, no, I don't have any specific reason to worry. And this group should be well-behaved for you."

METAGAME ALERT: Turning to the student conversations, you will each have one chance to make an impression on a single student of your choice. You have initiated conversations with several of them, so I'll reveal potential checks for them now. As you interact with the others, I'll reveal potential skills to use for them, and then you can choose which one you wish to make your check with and roll it out.

Vim smiles broadly as Modra and Bustral approach her. "I am studying all of it! Magic and Combat. Yes, I'm quite excited to go on my Confirmation, he said I have to wait a few years though. The last kid they let in early, had... some issues."
She knocks heartily on Bustral's shell. "We learned about you in the Professor's class about ancient Jiskan councilors planning battle strategy but you're not a golem are you, you seem real!"

Geltra seems more startled than anything to be singled out by the gnome.
"Yes, ma'am. Sewer Dragons. Ruffles stays with me, when he's not getting lost." She instinctively draws her satchel closer to her body. The pidgeon shifts within, rustling some papers.
"I am trying to learn some magic, ma'am. From books mostly, I'm not very good casting anything yet though."
She loosens up ever-so slightly. "I do like going to Dacilane Academy, though. The other students know what it’s like to move around a lot, and the teachers know us well enough to make sure our classes are tailored to our strengths and weaknesses. And they let me wander off to read sometimes, when I feel the need to.”

Bustral voice sounds positive and gentle in tone as he speaks..."The Golems came before my type and were cruder in form and function. I was a normal citizen although I don't remember much of my life before the transfer into this body. It pleases me to here that Jiskan History is still being taught after all these years. To ignore the past is to risk repeating it."

Vim straightens up like a soldier and salutes. "I will make sure we don't repeat the mistakes of the past, sir."
Vim turns Helpful (complete)
