Celas the Younger
Celas replies to Butttercup, "It's a needed thing, the 'gator may be innocent of murder here, but I don't care. This is to be our new home; I don't want to wake up while bitten by it. I'd rather make boots out of it." Celas eyes stay on target ready to support Impasha.
Buttercup Bainilus
Buttercup grimaces and nods. She rather liked the stables, except for the devils and all, but this place has it's perks, including breakfast. So she summons her aura and gets ready for a combat.
Bellara Valcaro
"Impasha-" she started, then swallowed the rest of it and replaced it with something steadier.
Her expression tightened when Impasha stepped into the water, half admiration, half the familiar flare of don’t you dare die on my watch.
"Alright then, if you’re offering yourself as the appetizer, I’m keeping the carving knife ready."
Looking at the body, she notes "That didn’t drift there by accident, something brought him under the pier. Either the beast, or someone who didn’t want him found."
Her rapier came up, low, controlled, angled over the water but away from Impasha’s line.
To Buttercup and Celas without looking away from the pale shape in the dark. "Stoney Eyes, when it moves, hit it in the head. Celas, you want boots? Help me keep its mouth off her long enough to earn them."
"Oh and Impasha?" She flashes her staple grin, thin, bright, stubborn. "Try not to actually be tasty."

Looking around, "Before we murder it, is anyone an animal trainer? I've seen plenty of rangers with unusual companions,"
"Oh, absolutely." she murmured, just loud enough for Elarion to hear. "We’ll simply ask the sewer-alligator if it would like to be your moral lesson for the week."
She risked a glance back at him, brows arched. "If you wanted a pet, Elarion, you could have said so. Next time I’ll procure you something safer. A canary. A goat. Perhaps a mildly judgmental cat."
"But if you insist on adopting that, you to name it something holy and comforting, so when it tries to eat us, at least the last thing I hear is By Jaidz, Mr. Nibbles, behave!"

Impasha never takes her eyes from the pale alligator, but nods in acknowledgment. "Let's just hope he's hungry."
"Oh and Impasha?" She flashes her staple grin, thin, bright, stubborn. "Try not to actually be tasty."
Impasha smiles a little as well. "I'll stick in its throat like a plum pit."
Myron Waldern Aulamaxa
Buttercup looks at her like she's crazy. Heck, Buttercup usually steers clear of targets with pet dogs and Impasha's got to take on an alligator?
"Not sure that be a smart thin' todo," she says as she moves to a better position to help if things turn ugly.
"Uh, yes. Hard agree! We could just shoot an arrow or a spell at it from here."
Celas the Younger
Celas responds to Bellara a bit sarcastically, "Oh, always, Lady Bellara ... unless I can steal it. But good as I am, not sure about how to pickpocket scales. Have to do it the hard way."
Noting Myron agreement with Buttercup, Celas comments, "Impasha's brave, she's drawing its attention so we can't be charged. It'll allow me to safely move closer for a better throw."

Impasha splashes back into the water, and that' all the invitation the alligator needs. With a flick of its tail, it closes the distance and makes a savage biting attack against the champion. The bite is mostly deflected by the shield, but enough of Impasha's leg is caught in the mouth as to have her restrained. The albino creature follows up with a brutal tail swipe but it slaps the pier, shaking the pilings, rather than bludgeoning the champion.
Celas, Impasha (who is restrained), Bellara and Buttercup are up now. There will be some other combatants after who are currently undetected.

Seeing the alligator surge toward her, Impasha crouches in readiness, knowing it will go for her legs and try to pull her into the water. At the last moment, she interposes her shield between her leg and the powerful lower jaw of the beast, but its upper teeth still bite into her leg. She grits her jaw, shuts her eyes and growls through the pain.
Using both hands, she grasps the top of her shield and twists it with all her might, trying to pry the creature's jaws open enough to free herself before it overpowers her.

Buttercup was powered up already so she is able to blast the alligator twice, one only kind of skims it, but the other does solid damage.
Impasha successfully wrenches her leg free from the alligator's mouth, avoiding a more devastating follow-up. She moves back onto dry land, and readies her shield to ward another attack when it comes.
From above atop the wooden pier, Bellara strikes down on the alligator scoring a massive hit before snapping her own buckler back into place.
Celas' knife throw is errant, missing the big lizard completely, and splashing in the shallow water. Celas recalls stories of alligators and other worse dangers living in the city's sewer system, but he always wrote that off as an old wives' tale, at least, until today. He's glad its not an otyugh or something more foul.
From the hallway behind them, a pair of rats the size of large dogs come bustling out, disturbed by the ruckus, and looking for food. They both attack Myron who was unaware of their approach. Both rats get serious bites on the sorceror, who is suddenly in some trouble.
Myron takes 11hp dmg from surprise rat bites. He needs DC14 Fort vs disease for each bite. Myron and Elarion are up to end the round.

Smarting from Bellara's attack from above, the alligator swims away from the doc, but closes on Impasha just the same, making another biting attack at the well-armored champion. The bite is difficult to avoid and powerful enough that it bites right through the wooden shield, breaking it. The sound of splintering wood echoes through the damp chamber as the albino alligator’s jaws snap shut, reducing Impasha’s shield to kindling. Blood blooms across the water's surface as the beast's teeth find purchase in her arm.
Impasha cries out, a mixture of pain and prayer. With her free arm, she claws at the massive snout, desperate to pry the crushing weight from her limb. Though her attempts to Escape are met only with the cold, unyielding strength of the reptile, a flare of golden light erupts from her palm. Her focus spell seals the worst of the jagged tears, knitting flesh back together even as she remains trapped in the creature's maw.
Seeing her ally’s agony, Buttercup grimaces, sending a volley of stones whistling through the air. One blast strikes the alligator's thick hide with a dull thud and no damage, while the other flies toward the scuttling Red Rat, though the chaos of the two-front battle makes it difficult to find a killing blow.
From the periphery, Elarion watches the Champion buckle under the alligator's weight. Reaching out with a hand trembling from the strain of divine channeling, he invokes a forbidden symmetry. As Impasha’s wounds attempt to reopen, the damage visibly manifests on the Elf instead. Through his reaction spell, he draws a modicum of her suffering into his own body, his face paling as he stabilizes her at the cost of his own vitality.
Impasha is healed up to 19/20hp, though Elarion takes some of those wounds and is at 11/14. Pending an action from Bellara before moving on.

She picks up the biggest remaining piece of her shield and looks it over and puffs out a deep breath of sentimentality. "I've had that shield since my days as an acolyte." she says somberly.

Buttercup examines the corpse critically. Out loud she muses, "Bettin' them teeth worth a fair bit. M'be the hide too, bein' white an' all. Never carved up a 'gator though."

Buttercup examines the corpse critically. Out loud she muses, "Bettin' them teeth worth a fair bit. M'be the hide too, bein' white an' all. Never carved up a 'gator though."
Myron smiles in thanks to Elarion, but his attention is quickly diverted to what Buttercup is saying.
"Oh, yes, very likely! With the right craftsman, that hide could be turned into a number of items! White alligator skin hats, belts, satchels, and more!
"Of course, it's unlikely we'd be able to do anything with it due to the ongoing troubles above. We should keep it somewhere cool and then maybe see if we can return to retrieve it after things quiet down.
"Is everyone all right, more or less? I received a number of nasty wounds from one of the rats that came out from... somewhere. Thanks to Elarion, I should be right as rain after a bit of recovery time!"
I mean, Myron doesn't know he's diseased, right?
Celas the Younger
Celas slowly looks around for any further trouble, gives a bit of a shake and lets his breath out. "Well that could have gone worse, I suppose. Still if this is our homecoming welcome, I'm not quite sure I like this place." He recovers his blades, but looks at the shallow water with some trepitation. "Throwing knives are not as easy to come by as daggers. I'll look in the water for it but it could be under this giant carcass. If I can't find it, maybe with rope and sweat we can pull it out? We could then butcher it as some have suggested. Myron seems to have a desire for a fashionable garment. Can't think of a better use for it."
As to wounds Celas says, "I took a bite from a rat, I don't think it's too bad but a having it bandaged would be good."
Celas makes a thorough search in the water for his fumbled blade but will need assistance to move the dead beast if it's trapped underneath. He keeps a wary eye out for further vermin.

Impasha sits up quickly and looks around at Myron. ”Rats?”. For the first time she notices the two slain giant rodents and the sorcerer’s torn, bloody clothes. She clambers heavily to her feet. ”Forgive me, my friends! I was so focused on the alligator, I hadn’t noticed these other threats. By the Light, they’re even bigger than the ones that were under the livery stable!”
She picks up her swords and slots it away in its scabbard. ”Well, at any rate, we can retrieve the rest of that body now. I’d bet the other half of our smuggler is inside the belly of the alligator, if further identification is needed. So our main mission is done. But I still wonder— what happened to the boat and the Varisian textiles? Something tells me there’s more to this story than a hungry alligator.”
She turns and wades out into the water to try and pull the wedged remains from under the pier, doing her best not to throw up her breakfast.

" Myron seems to have a desire for a fashionable garment. Can't think of a better use for it."
Myron laughs at Celas' joke.
"Ha ha ha! Oh, can you imagine? Me in white leather?
"No but really, there is a market for it. No accounting for taste, I suppose!"
”Forgive me, my friends! I was so focused on the alligator, I hadn’t noticed these other threats.”
"Nonsense! If you weren't occupying the alligator, these rats might have been more trouble than they were!"

"Ah, yes. Poor Mr. Cornerivos." Myron eyes the remains with a respectful silence before continuing.
"But that's an excellent point. Did someone else already come through and take his boat? Was it the alligator that actually killed him?"

"Ha ha ha! Oh, can you imagine? Me in white leather?
"No but really, there is a market for it. No accounting for taste, I suppose!"
Silently, Impasha briefly considers how her armor or shield might look embossed with white reptile leather. But she quickly discounts the idea. It smacked of vanity. Not to mention vulgarity.
"But that's an excellent point. Did someone else already come through and take his boat? Was it the alligator that actually killed him?"
"And if not the alligator, then who? Someone who lodged his body under this pier, and either they expected the alligator to eliminate the evidence, or the alligator was drawn here by the scent of the rotting corpse."
"Since we have a mystery, I think we should investigate all our clues. I think we should have a look around these tunnels for some sign of the cargo, or other people. And I think we should have a closer look at that statue of Callistria. There may be some hidden lever or switch that opens a nearby wall, or something like that. This *was* being used as a smuggling port after all. And they already put one such device in the coffee house basement."
Although she was doing her best to move the half-eaten body while touching only its remaining clothes, they were proven just as friable and disgusting as the decomposing flesh itself. Her face squints up in disgust and she turns away abruptly. "Ughguh." But like the soldier she is, she quickly returns to the task, this time with more commitment, just broadly grabbing the whole thing securely in both arms and maneuvering it free of the pilings with as little ceremony and as much alacrity as she can manage.
"No no, it's all right, I've got it." she can't help but say to her companions.

Buttercup watches on as the others deal with the corpse and alligator, ascrewed up look on her face similar to Impasha's.
