Hancock Ref: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Hancock easily avoids the gem the machine throws at him as Jaxon jams the machine with one of his picks.
The gems it threw at you can be sold for 40gp. You can take a few minutes to patch yourselves up. After that, you have three places to explore...
Hancock the Angry
|
Hancock pokes the machine one more time before gesturing southwest with an implied question after the gesture.
Swayaah Maeleranti
|
Swayaah focuses on keeping her mouth shut as two of her teammates attempt to destroy EVIDENCE.
Then she focuses on Jaxon's fancy moves. It's more complicated than she thought. She makes a note to study more.
With a sigh, she falls back into Stealth mode and Avoids Notice as she moves Southwest.
Jaxon Richter
|
Jaxon climbs off the contraption, giving it a good last kick. "Stupid thing." He spits on it and then looks up at the others. He cracks a knuckle and says, "Ok, what do we get to f~&* up next?"
GM Tiger
|
You gonna go up the stairs to the northwest or to the entrance south of the cyan-tiled room?
Hancock the Angry
|
I think we were headed southwest to Cyan
Yea, that was the room Hancock suggested with his nod, but GM Tiger is asking which entrance we will use. The entrance to the south looks closer, so how about that one.
Swayaah Maeleranti
|
Et tu, Jaxon? Swayaah watches Jaxon disable the evidence and balls her anxiety into a fist when she sees him kick and spit at it.
To avoid screaming in frustration, Swayaah heads towards the Southern entrance to the nearby room.
GM Tiger
|
Only reason I asked which entrance is because the northern entrance has another room for you brave Pathfinders to explore...
GM Tiger
|
You head up the steps into what appears to be a study of some sort.
Beautiful mahogany shelves line the walls, filled with an assortment of books ranging from rare editions of famous literature to racy novels. A thick plush rug covers most of the floor, its beauty dimmed by age and dust. Sitting at a desk covered in stacks of papers is a human man who looks comfortable as he flips through a thick tome titled One Thousand Voices in My Flesh.
The man looks up in surprise, adjusting his spectacles. "Ah, intruders! Should I scream? Or are you the sort that's open to intelligent conversation?"
The study is well-furnished and nearly untouched by the cultists, filled with beautiful (if outdated) furniture and hundreds of books.

"Depends on what answers you give us. But thanks for not trying to cut my head off with a scythe immediately."

Since Swayaah's started the process... :)
Each PC may attempt one skill check to gain information through conversation:
* DC 21 Religion or DC 19 Demon Lore to shows off their knowledge of demons, particularly Deskari.
* DC 21 Nature or DC 23 Survival starts an invigorating discussion about insect life cycles.
* DC 21 Occultism or DC 23 Diplomacy/Deception convinces the entodemonologist of your genuine interest in learning more about the cult's philosophy.
* DC 23 Society or DC 21 Arcana or DC 19 Academia Lore shows the entodemonologist that you are a fellow academic and intellectual.
Go ahead and reroll that check if you like, Swayaah :)

Wow... your dice really went cold
The man sneers at your poor attempts at conversation. However he does find some truth in what Folmyr has to say. He also nods patronizingly at Bruce's genuine desire to learn about the cult.
"I was told you'd be persistent but didn't mention what wonderful conversationalists you'd be. Shame that the others couldn't meet you, but our finances are a bit drained, you see. Unfortunately, you must die so the cult's grand future may live."
Several flying demons and a humanoid demon with awkward limbs and slack lumps of skin hanging from its frame materialize. The "scholar" joins the fray.

Hancock, who'd you go after? Black?
Yes, Black, the leader. Hancock always goes directly for the leader if he can get there. With what I suspect are bookshelves he was inaccessible unless the bookshelf was knocked down. I moved Hancock's icon on top of the bookshelf and next to black. I'm also assuming that knocking down the bookshelf and moving next to him takes three actions. Correct me if any of those assumptions were wrong.
