Both Dendri and Champion Ra throw themselves at the door in an effort to knock it off its frame. Their combined efforts manage to knock the door off its hinges. Fevrik grabs the door to keep it from falling and alerting the occupants on the other side.

She looks at the white-faced woman with puzzled awe, then adds to Carnelianl's suggestion. "We ... could do both. Attack the Chelish contact, and thank the Silver Devils for tricking him into coming to this meeting to purchase grandma's secret recipe. There's ... no love lost between them."

The imp departs, covered in ink and muttering under its breath about getting a more respectable job...

You enter the room and the room opens up to a view of the warehouse.

Within are a multitude of boxes that smell of fish and salt, and above you is a loft where on it is possible to see the two speaking figures. One of them has dressed in the robes of a scholar, but wields a wicked-looking mace. Upon seeing enter, they immediately attack you. Their rush down the stairs gives you time to draw steel.

my lack of familiarity with this system means I don't know if I can and want to make a five foot step sideways first to avoid some sort of cover penalty, and if I do so, if that leaves enough actions to cast the cantrip and then attack with the resulting flame. In PF1, casting a spell like that would leave a free action to attack with the spell.

@Dendri: Your spell attack roll will be +7 (see the line on your profile after “Primal Sorcerer Spells DC 17"), regardless of whether you make a melee or ranged attack. The attack is part of casting the spell, so it takes no additional actions. (Btw, it’s usually a good idea to explicitly state which spell you’re casting, just so there’s no potential misunderstanding—I assume it’s Produce Flame/Ignition?) Moving first to avoid cover is a very good idea, but I’m not sure that’s possible unless you move into the square to the left of Fevrik?

Mitzi is so astonished by Carnelian’s seeming self-immolation that she simply stands and watches in wonder, forgetting about the combat for a moment. “That … is amazing!” Wondering whether she might have serendipitously found a kindred spirit, she adds “We … should talk later.”

The reason for this inopportune suggestion immediately becomes apparent when a swirling forest of twigs and needles and leaves suddenly manifests around the small woman. Oddly, there is no wind blowing the bits of wood around—they seem to have been conjured out of nothing, with neither the arcane incantations nor measured gestures that accompany most spells. With a flick of her hand, a hunk of firewood materializes out of nothing and hurtles towards the nearest foe.

Her other arm sweeps around in a circle, covering her body in thick layers of bark as she tries to clamber onto one of the crates beside her.

At Lvl 1 if your spellcasting ability is maxed then your mod is +7 (and your DC is 17)

The Carnelian Signet bursts into flame before diving between White's legs to strike him from behind. White howls in pain until Fevrik steps up and finishes him off. Mitzi gets on top of a crate and hits Yellow with a fireball. Dendri and Champion Ra both take a step to get better positioning and hit Yellow with Spell and Arrow.

Blue runs up to the Carnelian Signet and stabs her with his dagger.
