Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

For discussion among the GMs.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

If anyone needs images from the module, I have a copy of Acrobat through work and was able to extract clean jpegs from it.

I would like that. Where can I find them?

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

LINK

In theory, that'll take you to a folder containing the images, and you can download them from there.

got 'em

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Timing should be as follows:

Start Part 5: March 2
Start final encounter in Part 5: March 15
End Part 5/Begin Part 6: March 22
Start final encounter in Part 6: April 4
End Game: April 11

We can let things slide a day or two, but I still strongly recommend that 1) you have all your players provide botting instructions, and 2) that you use them if a player doesn't post for a day. If you won't be able to post for a day or more, I can have one of the backup GMs fill in for you--just let me know in advance, if possible. Thanks for GMing this!

Public Service Announcement:
8-99-D The Solstice Scar, Version D is now selectable on RPG Chronicle, for those who wish to use RPG chronicle for reporting or generating chronicles...

Please send me your email address so I can send out the success reporting form; I think I have most of yours from previous specials, but they're tucked away in old emails. You can reach me at jbwoodford815@gmail.com.

Initial Aid Token assignment (in signup sheet order): 1d4 ⇒ 2

Mike...R's table starts off with the Aid Token.

In terms of getting things started, should we just be doing character introductions and waiting for the Overseer announcement in the 'Getting Started' section of Part 5 which begins 'The long journey south from the slopes of the Tusk Mountains...'?

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Yes, I'll get the next post up shortly.

Should we summarize parts 1-4 for the players or will you? I noticed the source material says "Version D of this adventure begins partway through the story, and events from prior versions (Parts 1, 2, and 3) are also summarized here."

Yet we start at part 5. How does part 4 fit in?

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

I have a summary of the previous parts in the folder I shared above--I'll drop that into the opening post.

Thanks.

I put a summary in an introduction post before the start of the game.

I was tempted to do so too, which was why I asked :}

Do we table GMS progress to the section titled "THROUGH THE BRAMBLES" or are we supposed to wait before we do that?

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

You're supposed to move on to that section, although the author of the scenario didn't really make that easy to tell.

Solstice Scar 1-2 | Penumbral Accords

Luckily, the first thing in the Through the Brambles part is a only a skill check, so it does give us a little buffer to get everyone ready and everything.

That's what I was thinking too.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

I sent out the tracking form to three of you, but still don't have email addresses for miteke, EbonFist, and Redelia. (When I send it out I direct it to myself and bcc everyone else, in case you don't want your email widely distributed.)

I sent in my first results using the tracking form.

Question: To what part of the game do I GM up to? Do I start in on section O? Everything up to area Q?

I noticed everyone else was moving on to encounter O so I did too.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Correct--once through the brambles you can immediately proceed to Area O, with the caveat that failed saves can lead to being sickened during the Area O encounter.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

All--there's only one Aid Token, so if your table has it please encourage your players to use it or amp it and pass it on.

My table are already on the case in terms of the Aid Token. They have boosted the 'Allied Offensive' option and want to pass it on to the tier 10-11 table (they did that just after I'd gone to bed hence the slight delay in reporting it).

Am I missing something or is there no four PC adjustments in this scenario for any of the combats? I see a couple for skill check sections. Going to make the combats a little more challenging, particularly since I am running core! But it does make my job easier if I am right :)

Multi-table specials don't normally have four player adjustment so I think you're correct.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Too bad noral didn't come up with a Core PC.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

By the way, nice job keeping your tables moving, all!

Trying! Dropping hints now and then about it being timed.

Just to check I've done it correctly - My table got two spirit successes at the Grove of Face, so I submitted the success form twice for that encounter to reflect the two successes.

As the core table only has four players it may be worth us encouraging our players to sent the aid token to the core table whenever another table has it, just to help out with their numerical disadvantage.

That would be nice. Right now they are in a battle with a pair of Dire wolves and it is a slug fest that will take time and leave a lot of wounds. One player is prone and sickened and another is caught up in the brambles. I can pretty much guarantee that they will use it right away and pass it on.

Correct. There's probably a way to design the survey to do it in one pass, but I haven't worked through it yet.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Since further successes in the Grove of Faces won't get you anything, if you haven't gotten to that yet you can skip it.

Battle over. On to the Fey Challenge.

Tier 10-11 could really use the aid token.

I think they may already have it, unless it has been passed on again since it was passed to them here.

Rise of the Runelords Pt2|RotRL Pt 3| Giantslayer|Emerald Spire| CORE Emerald Spire

Among all tables, you've gotten enough successes so far for the Unaware Guardians condition when we move on to Area Q. If you haven't started the Lost Pathfinders segment, I advise holding off unless your players are moving quickly enough that you think you can wrap it up by Saturday.

Solstice Scar 1-2 | Penumbral Accords

We're still on Test of Might. Hopefully we can finish it by a day or two.

Us too. They are dilly dallying.

Solstice Scar | Defy the Dragon | Inheritors of Gadrathar | Upon Wheels and Rime | ◆◇↺

We're still on the first encounter. Slow posters and terrible party composition for that type of fight.

Solstice Scar 1-2 | Penumbral Accords

We actually have decent team composition for the fight. Low tier Test of Might is a Moss Troll but we have a alchemist, who win init and entangled the troll to prevent it from charging.

Then the mesmerist was like "I'm going to stand here ready action to Daze when it come close" when he could have move up, stare, then Daze. The barbarian rolled a crit on his charge but was tripped by the troll's 15ft reach AoO :(

I had one player get whacked for half his HP and tripped who then decided to spend the whole battle curled up in a ball next to the wolves on total defense. I had another character entangled by the brambles who kept trying escape artist checks with a -6 escape artist check instead of just whacking away with her bastard sword. Fortunately the two heavy hitters started rolling well and they did finally emerge successful.

I finally started handing out GM hints to stop the madness, but by then the wolves were down.

My table are on the Test of Might. The monster has just been crit smited by one of the paladins, so I suspect it may not last too much longer.

Any chance we can have the link to the success report form on the header of this GM thread? So that we don't have to dig through email everytime...

Update: disregard my reported success on Fey Challenge. I miss the part where it said only report if they complete both challenge.
How are we doing on time? Would we have enough time to attempts the Test of Speed? Or should we just move on to next encounter (PATHFINDERS’ GRAVE)?

Solstice Scar | Defy the Dragon | Inheritors of Gadrathar | Upon Wheels and Rime | ◆◇↺

The aid token has moved to miteke, boosted with a Hard Knowledge check.

Stick with the Test of Speed. Don't start Pathfinders' Grave at this point; we'll be moving to Area Q late Saturday or early Sunday.

Nice. I passed on notification about the token.

I've just moved my table onto the Test of Speed after they completed the Test of Might. I've tried to set it up so that they can get through it fairly quickly to make sure they are finished in time for the move to area Q in a day or so.

For the aid token, if it's not been used yet it would also have the boosted 'Allied Offensive' that my table added to it last time it was passed.
