Cannoli's attempt at stealth is so laughable even she doesn't buy it. The raven easily spots Cannoli's approach, takes flight, and appears to leave...something...behind.
Bomb's Away?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
But the raven misses! Or was it a warning? It settles on the top of the mausoleum and continues to make a racket and perhaps giving Cannoli the stink eye?

![]() |

Hey! The raven won't stay still!
Guardian approaches what it left behind to see.
He also notices Cannoli moving quietly.
Oh...

Grizzlebin |

As Jakeric waits closer to the gates, Grizzlebin stalks ahead, following Guardian. "Cripes, you Pathfinders overthink things! Just see what's inside instead of messin' about with birds!"

![]() |

I took the liberty to put Daegon on the map.
Vreekka follows Grizzlebin and Guardian.
"No, I don't speak raven."

![]() |

"Perhaps we could gain its trust if we offer it some food? Does anyone have anything the raven might like to eat?"

![]() |

Cannoli puts her hands up, ”Come on! I wasn’t gonna eat you. Anyway bird, if you are Nolaria’s familiar then you understand what we are saying. Probably. Maybe, I don’t know that much about magic. But you don’t look dumb. And we are here to help her. Can you help us help her?”

Easy there...we're trying to help Nolaria...are you hungry? Daegon take a piece of bread from his ration. He breaks it in half. eats one and tosses the other to the bird to try to earn its trust.

The raven continues to do the same. Apparently the racket has had some effect: two creatures lumber from behind the mausoleum!

Botting Jakeric:
Knowledge (Planes}: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Jakeric doesn't know what the creatures themselves are but he does know they're fiendish! Grizzlebin stands ready to defend Jakeric should the need arise.

Cannoli is eyeing the area underneath the bird, debating whether or not to get closer and see what fell. She hears the incantations of a spell being cast and turns to see the critters coming out.
”Oho, you are ugly buggers, ain’t ya. Vreeka! What are they and are they immune to fire?”
Waiting for a response before taking her actions.

And a Knowledge (Nature) please.
Vreekka can tell the group that these creatures are not from the Abyss but they have become infused with fiendish energy. She suspects it might have something to do with the odd purple 'slime' on them.
With a 24 she knows the creatures have energy resistance 5 vs. fire and cold. They are not powerful enough to acquire either DR or SR but, if DR were required, it would be cold iron.

Ah but you used a reroll! The Dice Roller Curse of DOOm still LIVES! ;)
@Everyone: I don't feel comfortable using any of Jakeric's spells or summons until/unless a situation rises to a level of danger where it's necessary. From my reading of his eidolon I wouldn't risk it in combat either.
Yellow moves toward Cannoli the dart thrower and attempts to take a bite:
Yellow Ant Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Yellow Grab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Yellow delivers a powerful bite to Cannoli but her fur keeps her from being grabbed.
Blue, unable to determine who injured it with acid, opts to take the straight line approach to bite Guardian XI:
Blue Ant Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Blue Grab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Guardian XI suffers a bite but is not grabbed; perhaps his android nature confused the ant?
Cannoli takes 8 damage, Guardian XI takes 7 damage, the entire party is UP!

Cannoli shakes off the bite, "OUCH! That wasn't cool. It wasn't like I hurt you..."
"...hold up. I did throw a thingy at ya, didn't I? Hmmpphh, I guess the bite was justified. But you had evil intent in your eyes! I saw it, don't even deny it either."
She steps to the creature's side and pulls out a nice looking (but not THAT nice) morningstar, "HEY ALLIES? ANYBUDDEH WANT TO FLANK THIS BUG FOR ME?"
She points behind the ant, "Oh wait, someone is already there!"
With that impressive bluff completely wasted on a mindless foe (and also she doesn't have the feat that allows it to do anything with the actions she has available) she swings the weapon like a clumsy club.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for P and B: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Acid flask: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 (vs AC 5)

Sadly, splash damage is not multiplied by a critical hit.

Do you think the grand lodge has any spare big glass boxes? We could fill it with dirt and build an abyssal ant farm!
Oh wow, we were 1s apart posting :)

After Guardian XI cuts a huge gash into the Blue ant it attacks him again:
Blue Ant Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
It lands a bite on Guardian XI - and then promptly falls over, dead from the exertion.
Yellow seems content to attack Cannoli once more:
Yellow Ant Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
But misses thanks to that cursed breastplate! It then angles to the side and attempts to give Cannoli the ole stinger:
Yellow Ant Sting: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
And misses that even worse.

“Yellow-Foot! Get Yellow-Foot!”

Victor gives the raven a nod of thanks "Get Yellow-Foot you say? Much appreciated."
He then turns his attention to the purple goo on the gravestones. "Anyone know what that stuff is? Whatever it is it certainly doesn't like the cold iron morningstar over there."
He will also use detect magic to see if the morningstar or anything else nearby is magical.

She'd need Detect Magic otherwise she can't 'see' the auras to identify the items. I'm going to share what Vreekka knows to speed things along:
Although Vreekka does not have one she recognizes from her studies that the raven is most likely not a pet but is, in fact, a familiar. Remembering how leery Saringallows is concerning arcane magic Vreekka understands why Nolaria kept it a secret.
She also recalls during her research on planar topics that there is a substance referred to as 'demon bile' that matches the 'purple slime' present on the now-dead ants and the gravestones. Your theory is given proof due to the demon bile being unable to come into contact with the cold iron morningstar.

![]() |

Cannoli picks up the +5 Vorpal Abyssal Bane Cold Iron Morningstar and swings it a few times. She pokes the demon bile with it, ”Good weight, solid swing, decent club. I’ll take it. The ants don’t need it anymore, anyway.”
She looks to see what the raven dropped earlier (if it wasn’t already found).
