Oh, Running Downwind is a good one! The PCs gain +2 circumstance bonus on attacks against creatures that are not currently on the Snapdragon.
Dr. Ripfang tries to move, but the dragon's tail catches him unexpectedly across the knees. He doesn't fall, but the stumbling slows him down a little. The dragon grins up at him wickedly.
↺ Xurgimoth's Twisting Tail: Concealment flat check: 1d20 ⇒ 19 and Tail: 1d20 + 20 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 20 - 2 = 32 hits for bludgeoning damage: 2d8 + 9 ⇒ (3, 2) + 9 = 14. More importantly: It also disrupts your Move action.
I don't think you added the +1 status bonus for your success repairing the ship, but alas I also don't think you added the penalty for Frightened. Which makes that Battle Medicine not quite a crit.
If you'd like to redirect that to a character that's still in your reach (Rawiri, Knab, or yourself... or Blue, I Guess) and/or redo your second and third actions go ahead. If you do make an attack, though, you can keep that attack roll.
Zarina uses healing magic.

Thanks again for being on top of things.
GM Super Zero |
Dr. Ripfang isn't able to get to Zarina right away, so he patches himself up instead. The drake's tail whips in his direction. It was probably meant to be an attack? Oh well. He hits the other one directly in the face before feeding Rawiri a healing elixir.

He does spread his wings and release the side of the deck, taking to the air where he's more maneuverable.... in theory. Clearly shocked by Knab's sudden reappearance, the drake just manages to twist away from the second attack. **HOUSE GM ANNOUNCEMENT**
Eando stares over the sea as an isle draws nearer. Calisro stands next to him, gripping the railing as though she could make it cut through the water faster with sheer will. Just behind the Snapdragon, a monster of a ship gathers speed. Its sails fill with gusts of wind conjured by magic.
“This is it,” Calisro says with a grin, “It’s time to prove to these demons they can’t outrun us!”
Eando shakes his head and chides, “And then we’ll finish the Whippoorwill’s mission. That’s what we’re after. I’m worried we’re about to unseal a dark force that shouldn’t be disturbed.”
Calisro laughs and claps the other Pathfinder on the shoulder. “If demons want whatever’s on this isle, we can’t let them have it,” she says. “Checking off our centuries-old to-do list is an added benefit.”
Table GMs, please begin Act 4.
GM Super Zero |
“Listen up,” Captain Benarry says while pointing to a map. “We’ve need to establish our foothold on that isle before this other ship does. I don’t know what they want, but it can’t be anything good. Once you make landfall, keep one step ahead of them. We need to establish supply lines, hold any strategic points, and get our people on the ground first.”
This encounter uses the chase subsystem. Each round takes 10 minutes, as it represents longer distance travel or work. If PCs use a particularly appropriate spell or ability, they may receive an automatic success. Of course, creative use of other skills is always possible.
Round 1!
Obstacle: Making Landfall
Overcome: Easy Athletics or Sailing Lore to row ashore, Average Nature DC to find a safe area to drop anchor, or Hard Perception to spot rocky outcroppings and avoid them.
