Gameplay officially begins on the 4th September, but you're good for rp and introductions now :)

The Waking Rune

As I'm sure you all know, Waking Rune is the culmination of the Season 4 Lissala metaplot.

Do any of these characters have any of the Lissalan or Sihedron boons or artefacts? Some examples are:

Replica dragon tooth longspear (stage I), rod of runes, acrimony veil, Lissala’s caress, Sihedron brand (endurance), Sihedron brand (service), sigil wager (if active), ochre rhomboid ioun stone.

Teric has the Sihedeon Brand tattoo, and then one called Lissalan Library, which gives a bonus to know about the cult.

You may not take a 5-foot step using a form of movement for which you do not have a listed speed.

The one other thing to note about flying manoeuvres is of course Fly checks.

Flying at less than half speed (which will normally cover making a flying 5' step too) is DC10

Hovering in place is DC15 (there's also a Feat for that, but it's for monsters only - "Hover", in the Bestiary).

Flying straight up (at anything greater than a 45 degree angle) is DC20.

Pai S. Should have at least a +21 fly mod with that kineticist talent.

+11 skill mod, +4 for fly spell, +4 for good maneuverability, +2 for small size

Windy conditions, other unknown modifiers or maybe on a mid air collision are about the only ways she couldn’t flit around like a goddess of air. At least that’s what I am calculating.

On the other hand Hamish, even with his potion of fly, would zip around like an uncoordinated elephant.

Should I or someone else fall, use this...and these two can ward off the effects of life drain and the life..breath of life scroll and death ward x2

Hopefully you won't need them - but just in case, let's confirm who's holding Mykel's scrolls.

Breath of Life is on the Oracle spell list of course. Teric has 1 Oracle level, Quiella has 4. It's a DC10 CL check. Or, it's a DC29 UMD check and a bunch of you have UMD trained, but I think Teric's is the highest.

Death Ward is on the Oracle and Paladin lists. It's a DC8 CL check or a DC27 UMD check.

If someone wants to have scrolls loaded into a spring-loaded wrist sheath - highly recommended for Breath of Life - I'll allow it because Mykel handed out these scrolls before you entered the sanctum. But do let me know who's got the scrolls now.

Pai S.'s UMD is only +8, so she's not a good candidate for in-combat stuff.

Flying 5' step out of melee reach. Kurshu couldn't get far enough away last round, but now she's hovering over the southern (left) portion of the ziggurat. Quiella's polearm reaches her from the ziggurat summit. The room's not really big enough for a Large flyer to stay out of polearm reach.

Hamish has a decent bit of regular healing (as a backup healer) as well so we aren’t completely limited to one source of healing.

A few CLW, CSW and a wand of CLW.

It also boils down to this though, who has a spring loaded wrist sheath for it? Otherwise it gets to be a lot less useful as a ‘save a player from real death’ spell (due to action economy of needing to move, to draw and to use a scroll in one round).

Lol, yeah, I thought about that too, and couldn’t figure a way to paraphrase it but didn’t want to just say for everyone to read the spoiler!

The Waking Rune

I'll allow the combination of energy attacks against the runes - but there may be consequences for you.

The effect that forces a Will save from you triggers when you make an attack that doesn't disable the rune (as you may already have concluded given that Teric didn't need to attempt one). So if it takes two or three of you to get over the energy damage threshhold but none of you does it alone, each attacker would need a Will save.

The Exchange

I think they meant if a spell does bludgeoning AND electricity, for instance. If the total reaches the threshold, but individually each type does not, would it destroy the rune?

The Waking Rune

If the total reaches the threshold within the allowed time then the rune is destroyed. It appears that energy attacks can be combined - but you have to get over the threshold in a single round. If you determine that another rune is not susceptible to combined attacks, I'll let you know.

For singular attacks that have multiple characteristics, such as Pai S' composite blasts, all the characteristics apply.

The temptation to mix up intelligence and wisdom damage is strong here. There's brainy-stupid and there's suicidal-stupid, you know?

The Waking Rune

Although some (later) PFS scenarios specifically allow the combining of Skills when Aiding Another, it's typically only for particular skill challenges. Waking Rune does not make this allowance here.

It looks like Pai K, Teric, and Hamish are trained in Knowledge (Arcana); and all three plus Quiella are trained in Spellcraft. But Pai K's Arcana is 2 points higher than her Spellcraft, so you are probably best off combining your Arcana rolls given that Teric and Hamish are more likely to hit the Aid DC with that skill.

For the current rune (Armour), it looks like Pai K forgot her +2 from Good Hope. I'll allow Teric's roll to apply to his Arcana skill, and that will get you the additional information.

Hamish is correct that Death Ward lacks the Death descriptor, so it won't defeat a Life Rune.
