You didn't say what starting level? Also, if we pick a race below 15rp do we add things until it hits 15 or did you mean "any race with RP 15 or less"?
Sorry starting level is 5.
Any race with 15 or less, you don't get to add abilities with the race build rules. You can still take alternate racial traits as normal if you want.
I shouldn't make posts like these on my phone and when I'm a little rushed apparently, lol.

Okay, I've got a build. Frontline tank with decent saves and AC, and some Knowledge skills.
Thoughts? Not sure of the background yet, but he is a member of the Pathfinder Society sent here to investigate the strange happenings. He doesn't really care about anyone else's ethics or morality - he is here to do a job and get paid (so won't mind there being a Groetus follower, as in the Society one often has to work with all manner of strange cultists).

Where did you find campaign traits for this, Brother Larry? I looked online and only saw them for Carrion Crown, not Carrion Hill?
Also, I keep trying other ideas, and then find myself drifting back towards the monkeys... maybe I will end up doing something with that? Depending on what our 5th wants to play, I could probably do it as a cleric or a sorcerer, or maybe a druid, though I feel like the backstory there would be a little trickier?

The build requirements say we can take a campaign trait, subject to GM approval of course. I assumed that meant any campaign trait?
Getting 3rd-level spells would be nice if you went with either cleric or druid. I think if you have a strong idea you like you should try to make it work. :)

            Bro Larry is correct.
There are no campaign traits for Carrion Hill since it is not an AP. Any campaign trait is potentially usable. I wanted the more powerful campaign traits available to you since this can be a brutal module, but I also wanted to reserve veto power in case things got out of hand.
Bonus points for picking a Strange Aeons trait.

Ok, I haven't actually put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, as it were), but I'm feeling a little more confident about my madman cleric idea (or possibly, madwoman cleric). I'm thinking a vanilla aasimar cleric with the animal [fur] and monkey domains (which will give her an ape animal companion and a monkey familiar). I'm also thinking I may take one of the leadership-lite feats for a vanara or orang-pendak cohort. The concept being that the cleric truly believes the ape/monkey are nobility from the Mwangi Expanse that they have been charged with serving. The ape (clothed in silks) should be able to provide some front line help, and the monkey might be able to help with scouting? The cleric would have some buffs and heals, maybe some status removal if we think we'll need it. Not sure about the cohort yet, but possibly a bard for some inspire courage?

Lol no worries. Obscure Lovecraft short story. Warning I'm fairly certain this story is pretty racist.

Oh, lol- is that the one that they won't talk about at Lovecraft conferences because the disputed racism is such a hot button issue?
edit: wait... does this mean my character runs the risk of being construed as racist? sh!t. Now I'm definitely rethinking things again.
I'm almost certain that's Rat's in the Walls Which is a good story but a very unfortunately named cat whose name I won't say.

You can keep the concept with my blessing. I'm at acknowledging Lovecraft's racism but recognizing that he had a lot of great ideas and running with those while leaving the rest behind.
I trust your judgment otherwise you wouldn't be here.

I appreciate that, but I also know that sometimes things that seem innocent to one person can seem very different to people looking through a different set of cultural lenses. Given the literary history of using apes as thinly veiled allegories for people of color, I think I'll steer clear.
We don't have an arcane caster yet, right? Maybe a halfling slyvan sorceress who kind of looks like a creepy child and has like a leopard or some other kind of exotic pet? Although, maybe I should look at prepared casters so I don't miss out on 3rd level spells? Oh, here's a question- can we use halfing aasimars? I think they're technically RAW but they're in a side bar rather than the normal rules text (under "Non-Human Aasimars")... iirc, they use all the normal aasimar stats but are small size (with the benefits and hindrances that come with that).

Alright folks with all players committed I'm going to shoot for a start date of 5/5/23, please let me know if that doesn't work for you. I'll reiterate don't sandbag your character creation, this is a difficult adventure to come out on top. I'll remind you that running away is a viable strategy, and I try to reward lateral thinking.
Things I need to do:
Review and post my house rules in the campaign page.
Set up the maps, maybe I'll get it done beforehand this time.

May 5th is less than a week after my surgery, so I might still by pretty high (by which I mean my posting might still be a little spotty at first) but otherwise that sounds good to me.
I'm hoping to have a character posted today, just trying to decide between a cleric and druid (since it sounds like there's other interest in an arcane caster).

Hello djdust! Welcome to the party!
I am sticking with Osborn Copperpot Gillman (River folk) Investigator 5! He should be fun and I never actually played an Investigator before.
On another note; my PFS1e group went all wizards for season 5 and 6 (we played both in order). We each took a different Sin from previous season boon.
6 wizards! It was fantastic! And it was Core...lol. Mostly, we were allowed to stray only to fill any Prestige class requirements.

IDK if it's an idiom lol. Like if you could get some crazy combo that does 100 or more damage with one hit but you don't do it cause it's cheesy. Or you can get your AC reliably up to 40. Or you can hit +30 on a skill you absolutely will use all the time.
I ran this for my IRL groups 3 times. They finally did it on the third try with a 7 person party. Granted they weren't great at optimization.
