| DM Kludde |
I've marked possible next routes on the map. Where would you want to go?
| DM Kludde |
The little area in the back is the Gunner's station, which leads up to the turret. Unlike Liftt's last flight, there is no scared girl hiding out here.
Perception, Boris: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Perception, Celly: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
Perception, K: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Perception, Lifft: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Perception, Rattus Solo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Perception, Rayva: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Rayva
|
"Don't worry, Celly. I'm an actor. We thrive on drama. Pay no attention to me." Rayva agrees forward is best.
Was Rayva able to turn off the barrier?
Liftt
|
Liftt has a quick look through the turret, trying to see if there are any clues there as to what happened to the ship.
per: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
And then joins the others.
| DM Kludde |
The control panel for the barrier leading to the forward section of the ship is completely destroyed on this side, and could not be turned off. The barrier on the starboard side can be switched on or off at a press of the button.
The only way is starboard, really
| DM Kludde |
Passing through the opening left by the disappearing energy barrier, the group comes upon an area with workstations. The workstations in this area are somewhat intact but mostly empty. Empty boxes litter the floor, the tattered labels of which identify them as having once contained various chemical reagents and other supplies for experimentation. A circular lab table sits toward the aft.
What is not empty are the hand of the rather bulky-looking uplifted bear. He is holding some improvised-looking grenade, which he readies to hurl at the incoming group...
K'ssatak-Sul: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Liftt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Boris: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Celestia: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Rattus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Rayva: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Bar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Rattus reacts fast enough to be able to shoot first!

The sound of a laser blaster fills the room, and hits the bear. The bulky creature is clearly surprised at such a fast reaction, but bears a wide grin and throws his improvised explosive at the gunslinging ysoki.
Moved Rattus into the room for line of sight...
Throw explosive, vs ac 5: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

"Wait!!! WE want to talk, not fight!" calls out Liftt.
"We are a rescue team."
He does however point his rifle at the bear with a distinctly 'don't mess with me' look on his face.
Shouldn't the room at the left edge of the map also be uncovered? That was the gunners nook wasn't it?
| DM Kludde |
Yes, that's right. B4 was the gunner's nook, B5 the ship's airlock that Rayva managed to restore to power.
Celly
|
Celestia squeezes past Rattus into the room.
I don't know how you got here but we didn't see another ship. We can get you off this ship if you want. Please put the weapon down and we can sort this out
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
BorisWalrus
|
While Celly is doing a marvelous job by herself Boris, who in no way can fit in the darn room, adds to her infallible logic.
"Yes, let's not fight! We can give you a lift to safety. There is no reason to fight!"
diplo: 1d20 + 13 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 13 + (6) = 29

Please put the weapon down and we can sort this out
Rescue brown bear butt! The bear howls. He seems very upset. No put weapon down. Put you down. Ratty man hurt face! No lift, throw! The bear hollers, barely comprehending what the team has to say. He looks back at the door behind him, firmly gripping a massive mauling hammer.
Talking is more or less free, so you all have actions. This guy is fighting I'm afraid. Getting shot in the noggin does that to you.

Celestia takes a shot at the bear with her static arc pistol - set to non-lethal.

Hellnight who has waited a little sees that conversations are meaningless (as usual). He rushes into battle, demonstrating with his shout all the rage hidden in the Darkest Pit...
DON'T YOU WANT TO GIVE UP? THEN YOU WILL FALL AND GO TO HELL!
The most frightening thing about this is that K'ssatak-Sul himself doesn't seem to care. This is not his emotion, this is a broadcast of a statement of a terrible fact from the outside...

Attune: Photon 1
I think I missed, but I think he's scared for a long time... Until the end of his life, most likely. I want to note that he is not only shaken, but also off-targeted if he attacks someone not including me (see spoiler).
| DM Kludde |
K'ssatak-Sul puts the fear of Hell into the Bear, unlike Boris. A rain of fire shoots in the direction of the bear. Celly misses utterly, while Rayva's shot plinks off the bear's armor. Rattus and Lifft manage to score direct hits, causing the bear even more exasperation.
The bear swings his weapon down at KS. His heart is not in it, but his muscles are, and he still manages to connect.

Boris hits the bear with a shot covering his face is plasma, and drawing another loud howl. K-ssatak-Sul then strikes hard with the mighty wrath of the hellknight, nearly bringing the bear down.

Celestia lets loose another non-lethal shot at the fleeing bear.

Lifft tries to stun the bear and sending a ringing sound to the fuzzball's head. Celly and Rattus both miss their shots, as does Rayva. The latter comes around and lands a hit on his second attempt, further slowing the bear down.
Boris tries to reach out to the person in the next room, but there's no response yet.
