Hello and welcome. I'm going to be running Guardian's Coven and I hope that you all have a wonderful time as you all play through this adventure.

Hello!
So since I’m bringing a Magus, I need to know how you wish to handle Arcane Cascade stance.
It does not work as written.
CRB, pg 143
Stance: A stance is a general combat strategy that you enter by using an action with the stance trait, and you remain in for some time. A stance lasts until you get knocked out, until its requirements (if any) are violated, until the encounter ends, or until you enter a new stance, whichever comes first. After you take an action with the stance trait, you can't take another one for 1 round. You can enter or be in a stance only in encounter mode.
Secrets of Magic, pg 38
Arcane Cascade [one-action]
CONCENTRATE MAGUS STANCE
Requirements: You used your most recent action to Cast a Spell or make a Spellstrike.
—-
The way it is written, the act of going into stance takes you out of the stance since you have done something other than cast a spell or spellstrike as your last action. This is obviously not the intent since then the stance would be useless.
They did not change the defined behavior for Stance in Secrets of Magic.
They are supposed to have an errata although all the video says is they are going to have an errata and assume going into the stance doesn’t cancel it.
Your answer determine how mobile my character will be in combat.
The most permissive would likely be to ignore the requirement once you have entered stance. This would basically allow my character to do anything during combat without worrying about the stance ending. The other general rules for ending a stance would still apply.
The most restrictive would be to add the stance to the requirements. In that case any stride, strike, seek, or other action would take my character out of stance.
When I GM, I have them leave stance at the end of any round that they have not cast a spell, used an action to recharge their spellstrike, or done a spellstrike. I feel this is a reasonable compromise between the two extremes. It still restricts the character’s actions, but not so severely that they have to just stand there and cast spells or the stance is done.
I don’t care how you wish to handle it, I just ask that you tell me before I try to use the stance.

Thanks again for volunteering to run for us!
GM, how do you want to handle my Known Weakness feat? Usually in combat I just roll the knowledge as part of the Strategic Strike like this:
◈ Devise Stratagem: 1d20 ⇒ 14
◇ Known Weakness (Gossip Lore): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
◈ Stratagem + Sword Cane (agile, concealable, finesse, striking): 14 + 10 + 1 = 25
Strategic Strike+Piercing Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + (5) = 14
The advantage of this is when I get a crit like that on known weakness, I know immediately that everyone (including me) gets a bonus to their next attack roll this turn. The disadvantage is that it is no longer a secret roll.
Or should I do my Macro like this?
◈ Devise Stratagem: 1d20 ⇒ 16
◇ Known Weakness (Arcana, Crafting, Gossip Lore, Occultism +10; Religion, Nature +8; Society +12)
◈ Stratagem + Sword Cane (agile, concealable, finesse, striking): 16 + 10 + 1 = 27
Strategic Strike+Piercing Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 5) + (1) = 12

Hello!
So since I’m bringing a Magus, I need to know how you wish to handle Arcane Cascade stance.
I would be handling the Arcane Cascade stance using the most permissive interpretation you listed to ignore the requirement once you have entered stance.
All the options you presented are valid interpretations though.
GM, how do you want to handle my Known Weakness feat?
I would be fine with you rolling your own Known Weakness check in combat like you normally do. Given the number of checks it will make, this seems like my preferred way to keep combat moving.
I'm looking forward to running for Salaish!

Greetings all. I'll bring my investigator/back-alley doctor to the table. The name is a French version of James Japp of Scotland Yard from the Poirot series. Seeing that there was a problem with healing last time... :)
Looks like I need to update her statblock...

![]() |

oh now THAT would have been cool! :)

![]() |

oh btw, if the French accent (or exaggerated French accent) gets too annoying, let me know and I'll tone it down.

![]() |

Right now it is OK for me, but if anything I would just ask for a spoilered English translation.
Think I’m going to have to reread some of the Poirot novels. It has been a while. In any case, we will see where he is after his current case. Would be cool to have both characters on one adventure even if that might be a bit heavy on the Investigator.

GM Blazej |

Alright, that is good with me.
I've posted the link to the slideshow where I'll be putting maps and handouts at the top of the page. I've also put a link to the sign in sheet for this game.
If you could put the token you want on the slideshow and fill in the sign in sheet that would be wonderful.
Links also right here:

Will you be using Doug H's Macro Sheet for secret rolls? If so, we should fill that out too.

If you don't mind audiobooks, Audible has some good ones with John Moffat playing Poirot. These are dramatized radio plays that stick close to the plot.

Wow, Salaish is lvl 5 already? The first time I played with you you'd just leveled up to 2... :)

I am not familiar with that sheet, but it does seem far easier than what I was planning on doing.
I've made a copy of that sheet here if everyone would fill it out when you have the chance.

Macros done.

![]() |

I’ve also updated Macros for my character.
My character has a Hireling following them, Tandel gives him +6 bonus for checks with Religion and Legal Lore. They have the normal Hireling restrictions, including the only things they can do in combat are Recall Knowledge checks.

Hey it is a crazy Wednesday for me. I have back to back storytimes at the library and so will not be pushing things forward.
I'll probably be able to check in at some point, but feel free to bot me.

![]() |

oh btw, tomorrow's going to be a crazy day for me. I'll be around, just not as often. I'll have more time when I get home (while most of you are just waking up :) )

Secret checks filled out and ready to go.

Too bad Hercule is on a different case. :)
Now you've inspired me... Created a new catfolk investigator that I've named "Purrlock Holmes" :)
Then maybe I should follow it up with a Tengu medic called "Ducktor Watson" :)

Actually, I did create the Tengu as "Ducktor Watson". Though it'd be an insult to tengus to be called a duck... Field Medic background...

check out the practice sword I just got. Looks so much like Twinkle that Drizzt carries :)

Very nice polish on that bokken. Sort of a strange grip, but still looks useable.
How long is it? I’m not good enough to judge it just from the size of the grip.

![]() |

28 inches give or take. It's about the same length as an escrima stick. The grip can be used as a close in weapon. Need it for practice because some of the techniques are meant to be done with a bladed weapon and it's a bit hard to imagine an edge on a cylinder :)

![]() |

Yeah, in Aikido (which I used to practice before the plague) there are definitely some techniques best practiced with a bokken rather than a jo or bo stick. I’m confident that most martial arts have techniques where it makes a difference.
I was wondering if the grip was meant for that, but wasn’t sure. Thanks for mentioning that detail.

![]() |

Basically the "motto" of Escrima/Arnis is that you can use the same technique for stick work, blade work or empty hand. Targets are slightly different (i.e. you wouldn't use a sharp weapon on bone for max damage) but in general it's the same.
If you're curious -- Arnis Basics. Turn on your subtitles/close captioning to get the english translation (unless you speak Filipino) :)
The playlist was created by my instructor for his students during the lockdowns.

I had skipped over Hero Point distribute at the start of the adventure. You all have that opportunity now.
Ra'uf Steelwheels, when you have a chance could you fill out information for the sign in sheet and avatar for map links? Thank you

![]() |

I bring three glyphs as does Hilary.
Everyone gets to start with a total of two hero points.
Hilary also has a Campaign Coin.

Can you tell that I researched Aroden Lore when writing my Starstone Hopefuls article for Agents of Edgewatch? I never used any of that research in the article, but hey... I got to use it here.

GM Blazej |

I really enjoyed reading through that bit and learned a lot myself!

![]() |

all I can say -- "wow"... role play is not my strong suit... I can at times but it's not my strongest suit... even when I was playing AD&D it was more like "Zhamie does this and says that".. apologies in advance if I'm quiet during high RP sections...

Hearing all these mites is bringing back memories of the very first adventure I GM'ed for PFS.
Jazz Hands!
That's how I got the nickname, Doom Girl.

How does one determine what the 'case' is? I know it has to be something specific (or can I make it general - e.g. the tasks we were assigned by the VC)?

![]() |

I've been making each new Case the specific tasks assigned by the VC.
My first was helping Huali.
My second was investigating the gremlins in the forest.

![]() |

Pursue a lead, which takes a minute.
You spend 1 minute examining the details of one potential clue, designating the subject related to that clue as the target of your active investigation. This subject is typically a single creature, item, or small location (such as a room or corridor), but the GM might allow a different scope for your investigation. You don't need to know the identity, purpose, or nature of the subject, but you do need to be aware of its existence.

KaLang - GM Tiger giving a Filipino Martial Arts Demo at work. The guy in black is my instructor...
Basically it's sort of a project. Wanted to train the security guards at work. Hired my instructor to get them to at least the Yellow Belt level.
BTW, I had computer issues over the weekend. Back in the saddle now.

![]() |

Thanks for the bot, bot buddy... complete with the French expressions! :)

![]() |

Pardon me for asking, but where should the hero points be tracked? In each of our profiles, in the slide deck somewhere, someplace else?
KaLang should now be at 2 hero points.
Everyone started at 1 +1 from GM glyphs +1 MLK weekend.

GM Blazej |

I admit my lack of experience in running PF2 on the boards I was letting that go in your profiles, but that is more that I didn't have a immediate template on the slide show. If there is a good template you have seen for that I would love to use it!

Have a look at one of my campaigns. I track HP in the Campaign info. (Stole it from Deevor so I can't take credit for it) :)

GM Blazej |

Thank you, I've added that tracker to one of the pages. I might go back another time and see about adjusting it for another game, but for now I think I have everyone's hero points correct for the various number of hero points that have gone out.
I believe only KaLang, Zendel, and Arfsnarf have used a hero point.

GM Blazej |

Zendel's pointed at a detail that I had missed. The adventure is being run in the high-tier and Zhamie should have a level bump. (+1 to DCs, +1 to modifiers, and +10 HP). I wanted to check to make sure she didn't have any other benefits of mentorship.

![]() |

I can offer the Horizon Hunter Mentor Boon, which is an additional bonus to saves. Would you like me to edit Zhamie's macros once we determine her mentor boons?
