The dragon leans down to eat Daehalya and she stands up breaking the dragon's jaw from its corpse as it collapses back into the earth.
@Nicholo how do you have 4d8 for your crossbow or did you double the dice for the crit? With 2E normally the damage is rolled normally and you just double the end result.

Having gathered enough clues you are able to determine that the legacy of Domora’s god callers might yet remain in the city’s subterranean cistern. You figure you are able to enter the cistern via a dried-out tunnel in the remains of the nearby lake called Hume’s Pool.

Sakauchi grimaces but nods her understanding. "I must be there. I feel it in my gut." In agreement you bring Sakauchi along to investigate the cistern.
This tunnel is a mucky morass of red mud and stagnant water. Above, a stone bridge spanning north to south overlooks the aquifer. A stairway leads up to the bridge. West of the stairway, a mound of rubble slopes up to a separate enclosure.
Alvarius Blackthorn
"Want to check that other enclosure before checking the stairs?"

Might I remind everyone that *I* totally predicted the aquifer. We are here, and I made this up in my cool mind hours before us actually being here.

Well, from here - my creative brain is drawing a blank. Since Alvarius wants to check out an enclosure. Let us do it. The collection of Rubble is mighty interesting.

Nicky looks keenly at his surroundings.

As you slog through the water you suddenly hear a booming voice inside your heads. “I am Ruun, one of the four who guard this cistern. I felt your presence when you first entered this domain, and I believe you may be worthy of my service. My kin, however, are not so sure."
"To prove yourself, visit our shrines at the bottom of the wells in these tunnels. At each, you must make a worthy sacrifice, and you must overcome a challenge posed by the shrine’s patron. Complete my three siblings’ challenges, and we will unseal the cistern’s door."
“Within, elder Dyzad does battle with Malgamon. If you can defeat Malgamon and offer me your final sacrifice, then I will deign to let you call upon me as your god.”
Sakuachi stands in ominous silence as she listens to Ruun’s instructions. When Ruun at last falls silent, Sakuachi turns to you and gives a determined look, eager to begin, a smile creeing along her face.
Before heading to the bridge you investigate the small enclsure to the northwest. This bed of sticky red clay slopes up and around a cavern wall to the north. Buried in the muck here you find a jade serpent wondrous figurine poking its tail out of the clay.
Alvarius Blackthorn
"And this is why we stay curious," Alvarius says, pulling the statue out of the muck. "For the treasures!"
When the voice booms in his skull, he shakes his head. "I'm not likely to call you my god, but if you can help I will call upon you to do your godly duties."

With an enthusiastic, Yeah Buddy! We found some good stuff.
As the guardian Ruun speaks in his head, he already knows he's worthy.
He's Nicky of course. These tests are going to be a breeze. It's the sacrifices he's not so sure of and asks for help.
Now with this game of sacrifices, anyone know what they might be alluding to? Because maiming and ritualistic killings are not in my wheelhouse. Anyone have an idea of the kind of sacrifice we might have to make? Maybe "Can't get or give a neck hickey on a day beginning with the letter T"?
Nicky proceeds to the first Cistern alter, assumedly over the bridge. He starts walking. Taking note of who keeps the Jade serpent.
Speaking of which, he pulls out the Onyx Dog and activates it.
Onye Dinta
"Onye Dinta has sacrificed... something in the course of the quest," the catfolk says behind his mask. "Onye Dinta cannot remember what was sacrificed. The sacrifice was not flesh or blood. Does Nicholo remember?"
Daehalya Shadowsun
"I have a goddess already, and I think she would not be happy if I turned my back on her. After all, she had the opportunity to do that to us, and she refused, guiding us to safety when all was at its darkest," Daehalya replies to the voice.
If the voice seems inclined to respond to our rejoinders/to answer our questions, Daehalya will ask if it will tell them about its siblings and what sort of challenges they offer and sacrifices they would accept.

Nicholo moves in, slowly pulling out his rapier in a dramatic fashion while Alvarius freezes one in place for nefarious, pervented ends later. Grundle picks up a stone that is much too heavy and launches it at the wall near the second demon.
Daehalya slams her staff into the demon, knocking it to the ground before anymore strange explosions go off. Her and Onye begin the pummeling process to make it regret its options.
The creature plays unconcious as it reaches out and grabs ahold of Daehalya's ankle.
Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success You possess the target but can't control it. You ride along in the body while the spell lasts.
Failure You possess the target and take partial control of it. You no longer have a separate turn; instead, you might control the target. At the start of each of the target's turns, it attempts another Will save. If it fails, it's controlled by you on that turn; if it succeeds, it chooses its own actions; and if it critically succeeds, it forces you out and the spell ends.
Critical Failure You possess the target fully, and it can only watch as you manipulate it like a puppet. The target is controlled by you.

So no Shiv for this one. What about the one that's looking paralyzed? Am I gonna mess something up if I put this rapier in it's Shadow demon gut?
Nicky's asking for some help as me moves over there. Looking for the right spot to stab.

"Stab away, friend. But I'm a little uncomfortable about what happened to the other one. Where'd it go?"
Presumably the Red Shadow does its thing before Alvarius, so the force barrage would go to Green
Grundle Trolleyproblem
Embarrassed by shanking his last shot and concerned for the poor demon's soul, Grundle attempts a mercy killing to thwart the skeleton's depraved plans.
